Bruh.
Roundabouts are wonderful things.
Compared to American intersections, there is on average a 40% decrease in all accidents and a 90% drop in fatal ones when a traffic intersection is replaced by a roundabout. They also generally use less fuel.
When we had an Olympic winner in this city, we named a roundabout after him.

I think you bring up some great points.
Usually, when we have talked of active scanner problems, we have often been referring to the Gal Logi/Focused scanners you mentioned. It would probably help if we were always more clear about that.
I think your point about there not being a problem with a logi passive scanner would be alright if it didn't overlap so much with the Amarr bonuses, and I do think that a change for them to have biotics makes the most sense. The range amp nerf just hit them too hard.
I also wish there was a way to either make inner circles a hard number, or to make range amps only affect the medium and outer circles, but I don't recall if that is feasible or not.
With regards to Assaults, I think we have two problems. One is the EWAR, the other is the mobility/HP in combination. At this point I am indifferent towards which CCP should hopefully decide to adjust, so long as they aren't both adjusted concurrently. Agreed on all points.

At this point I am indifferent towards which CCP should hopefully decide to adjust, so long as they aren't both adjusted concurrently. 1. I'm not convinced focused scans are a problem. Especially as they are squad only. If people feel they can't run their scout suits because they are always being scanned, then I've yet to hear about it. Extreme focused scanning use, to specifically counter all but the most damped scouts, is fine as long as people feel it's enough of a sacrifice to prevent the tactic being used often. 2. Yay for biotics Amarr! Just bear in mind last time it was mentioned, people outside the barbershop were against it.
1. In my opinion, focused scanners are OK unless they're wielded by a KB/M user. Rapid-fire, wide-area 21dB scans likely pose a greater a balance problem.
2. Any good reasons why?

I think I was the only one really opposed to the Amarr Biotics bonus in house. If the bonus is to all three Biotics modules it stands a a bit much in my opinion. Bonus to melee, jump, sprint speed, stamina cap, and stamina regenGǪ seems like a lot. Amarr scout is not so UP as it seems. I honestly think that if scan range was still at 20m Amarr scout would be very solid.

@Mollerz I know you like your braggadocio semi-roleplay shenanigans but please try to restrain yourself when the situation calls for it, between all the ramblings during the great raid of April '15 and scaring Aeon away when he was trying to make amends with the Barbershop I'd say it isn't doing us any favors

@Everyone else Two things, for starters please don't feed the trolls. A troll who shall remain unnamed wandered in here in the middle of all the nonsense and started tossing out obvious bait and you guys were taking the bait so hard he's probably considering taking up permanent residence here. Easiest way to get rid of a troll is to ignore them.
Second, one of the things I took away from all this is we should try not to link to outside posts with a "get a load of this guy" attitude as much, it promotes dogpiling the thread and contributes to the "clannish" reputation have. Plus it's just plain impolite.
Maybe we should brainstorm some house rules for the Barbershop to keep things more civil... er, maybe more guidelines than actual rules.
I know it's probably a little silly for a person who only occasionally pops in and quips one-liners to waltz in here several days late and deliver a lecture so feel free to take this with as many grains of salt as you prefer. (Also note that despite my avatar I'm about as Gallente as a paper bag, so any silly notions of RP bias can be thrown right out the window)

I'd put it down to the controller being wonky (It's older than the ps3 itself) but it doesn't cause any problems with any other game, and I plugged in the newer, shinier one and it didn't change.
So yeah, gonna post about it in the bugs but if it doesn't change then welp. I had the same thing happen to me, I'm tempted to believe Dust caused it because it started with Dust and eventually started happening everywhere. Easiest way to test "everywhere" is on the PS3 main menu. It's made my two newer controllers useless, but I have an older, lighter model of DS3 (without sixaxis I think) and it works like a charm. I'll let you know what model it is exactly tomorrow when I get home, but there's still hope! Alright I was incorrect, it seems there are two variants of the official PS3 controller, the Sixaxis and the Dualshock 3. The controller I have is the one that says "Sixaxis" and only Sixaxis at the very top, the newer versions say Sixaxis and Dualshock 3. Apparently the original Sixaxis are no longer in production but some are still available on Amazon (for quite cheap, I might add).
If you want the specific model I use, it's a CECHZC1U. I've had it for years, it's been beaten up, taken apart and put back together, and it's never given me any problems (aside from the left joystick sticking up when you push it to the top, which is something that I actually love and miss whenever I use a different controller)

Have you looked at the passive scan stats of a Logi with 3 precision enhancers? I have. 12/24/31db. Excellent for scanning poorly damped scouts and assaults, though you only really need 2 precision to get excellent anti-assault scans.
Thing is, in PC for example, you are very likely to have a Gallente logi somewhere spewing 21db scans all over whichever socket you find yourself in. A scout with a profile higher than 21db is kind of dead, and so probably pretty rare.
I guess it would protect you from speed hacks (high slot codebreakers please). That's a pretty specific thing to sacrifice all those slots for.
There is the inner ring, which is a pain, but it only takes one precision mod to make that nasty.
So in a meta where scouts are focusing on getting below 21db, I don't see how some 24db logi scans are much of a threat. Whereas the 18db scans from an Amarr scout seem more dangerous.
If we are discussing scanning mediums and heavies, ok, the logi scans are great, though active scanners are better. An Amarr scout can scan assaults at 30m with no module investment, whereas a logi can only scan them at 19m. It takes two precision mods before the logi can beat the Amarr scout, at which point the logi can scan assaults at 38m.
But this is kind of irrelevant. You don't want your Amarr scout sitting in a pack of heavies trying to be a radar dish. You want them out placing links in fun places, destoying enemy links, hacking stuff, flanking, ambushing. All the stuff any other scout does. Passive scans are still useful for these tasks. I do agree however, that the Amarr bonus, compared to other scouts, seems poor. Even though I dispute that it is useless, or redundant due to passive scanning logis. |
