Hey Kaeru
Here's my comments and analysis. Bear in mind I may be wrong on some of this - they are mostly my opinions.
The battle
0:34
You're under fire, you reverse to cover. It seems like you wait exactly the right amount of time before you move to new, safer cover. As you are moving to new cover, I am surprised you don't die - I would've stayed for longer behind the CRU, and I would probably have died with that decision.
I suspect you were anticpating the merc that was firing at you moving to a new position to finish the job. He wouldn't have had to move far. The length of time you wait seems like the right amount of time for the red to be in position again. When you moved again, he lost LoS again.
Great awareness and anticipation.
---
0:49 - 1:02 - Always use the green cross code
The whole sequence of you crossing the street is interesting. Perhaps moreso to me as I don't use the cloak. If that was me, it's a straight sprint-dash into whatever happens to be lurking the other side.
You check all corners and positions where there may be reds waiting, and then a nice touch is when you check your six before decloaking.
Seeing this makes me want to try the cloak again. There's clearly at least two styles to the Minja. Being good at them all is a massive advantage.
---
1:13 You charge knives quite a while before you're on top of your target, and you also have to navigate around obstacles and cross his LoS. Charged knives are audible, however, it is very noisy. Your target is firing a swarm launcher which you could hear before you even left the room, so he is focused on the sky. He is cornered by the time you have crossed his LoS and he needs to switch weapon. Great move, odds in your favour.
As soon as you've finished him with the flaylock, you are straight back into the room you came from. It has to be the safest place at that moment based on what you know, and as you do so you can hear incoming fire. As you have said to me: you've won that engagement, time to take stock and decide what's next. I may have gone careering off in the other direction, gung-ho and straight into a new engagement in whatever form that happened to take.
---
1:30 Whilst cloaked you check your six and three mercs appear. You decide to crouch and wait in full "view". The 2nd merc to appear is a scout. He must see you and takes you out. If he saw you on tacnet, then you should've moved as soon as you saw him. But you can't know if he can see you or not, and the only option was to stand and fight three mercs at that point, one of which is a heavy. I think you made the best choice you could, but I am curious to know what would've happened if you'd attacked. Perhaps you would've taken one of them with you.
Kill screen shows he was a Caldari Scout. Good precision on that suit. Probably he saw you sitting there cloaked.
---
2:18 You just jumped out of a dropship - good jump by the way. You want to clear the reds off the roof over Bravo. You throw a flux toward the first uplink whilst using cover from the red with the laser rifle. The second flux you miss and it rebounds into your path. I can't tell if that causes you a problem when dealing with the red, but he somehow manages to kill you whilst you're in mid-air. That may just have been lag I'm not sure - and I can't see where the other reds went at that point.
---
4:24 You chase down a red that ran by (red 1), and suddenly it becomes 3 reds. You go for the red at the back (red 3) who is following reds 1 and 2 but the first knife attempt doesn't finish him. You are now under fire from a 4th red above and your cover is blown. You finish red 3 with a flaylock at the same time as making good your escape out of the area. You didn't get to kill two more reds by following them into the building, but you stayed alive by keeping control of the engagement.
You also changed targets as soon as the situation changed, and got a solid kill on the lowest risk target. I don't think I'd have realised everything that was going on at that point, and would likely have died with or without a kill on red 1.
---
5:46 You notice a red out in the open with a couple blues on his tail. He is likely to be distracted with his back to you. You cloak up and close the gap, then when you see he is down from the blues, you switch to flaylock to do your customary finish and limit his respawn speed. This is good team work and making use of a (at least for me) little known mechanic to slow down the enemy.
However, do you think your flaylock is getting you noticed? I have wondered this already at other times, but this moment here would appear to suggest yes, as the red by the complex entrance is opening fire on you seconds later. You are completely outranged, and only the bend of the complex wall saves you. You are forced to go back the other way to escape the area.
As you approach the next complex entrance there is a scuffle ongoing, red 1 and a blue in the open, and obvious fire coming from within the complex. The blue goes down and as you chase down red 1, multiple reds inside the complex appear on your tacnet, and you then come under heavy fire as you try to take down the red with your flaylock. Tempted to think this was not even a 50/50 for you and an avoidable death.

6:54 You start to hack then break it off early enough to hide from the red that appeared on your tacnet. You wait to see what he does, then take your opportunity whilst he is engaged with the blue that appeared, and you kill him. Great work, now you can complete the hack!
You then hack again and as you complete it, you here a rifle and a single shotgun blast coming from your left. The killfeed shows a blue dying to a red shotgun. There is a second shotgun blast obscured by the sound of the null cannon firing, then a second shotgun killfeed from the same red. You complete your hack and totally surprise me by not turning and checking to your left before you exit right. You are shot in the back many times by the now kill-streaking shotgunner that you heard and could locate a full six seconds earlier.
His kill screen shows he has 40 shield and 83 armor remaining. You are at full health and would likely have won that 1 v 1.
---
9:08 The last of your triple kill is nice, a neat little touch. You are the other side of the null cannon from the red. Instead of weaving through the cannon enclosure and directly towards him, you sidestep right, outside of the cannon and come at him from a slight angle. He now has to aim as well, instead of just pressing fire.
You kill him with barely a scratch.
---
10:56 Good use of movement and peripheral vision as you hack, allowing you to break off and know exactly where your enemies are. You take down one, then two more approach as you start the hack again. Initially I thought you made the wrong choice of red to go for first, but on closer study, you go for the one with the ranged weapon who has moved away from the cannon to the wall, instead of dancing around the cannon with the shotgunner as he picks at you from safety.
More side-stepping and approaching at an angle, again earning you a good kill. By this time though the shotgunner has switched to scrambler pistol so he can reach you without trying to close the distance on a min scout, and you can't quite make it around to cover.
Not sure what more you could've done.
---
12:19 - My favourite part
The carnage is beautiful. You chase down a red and end up up close and personal with about eight reds. There is no escape, and you get up in their faces and pull three or four times your own weight, decimating their numbers, creating panic and confusion which your blues can take advantage of, before you die a glorious death. *This* is the other Minja style that I so dearly love (and suspect Mollerz and Pseudo do too).
There are no tactics here short of keep moving, keep slicing and blasting, and remember they can't shoot you through another red, which you take advantage of by getting right in amongst them. Awesome work.
---
14:05 You flaylock an uplink. You flux the objective, check your corners, flux another uplink you spot, then start your hack. Immediately a red appears on tacnet and you are in a fight. You go at it for a bit and you're both down to low health and switching weapons around. 29 seconds after you flaylocked that uplink, you pull the trigger one final time for the finishing shot and you find out your clip is empty. You die to the merc who has 35 armor remaining.
You died because of a mistake you made 30 seconds earlier.
---
Summary All in all it's been very interesting to watch another Minja at work. A different style - thanks for recording it. And you had a great, KDR-positive and battle-influencing match in a basic suit with less than IshNoks. Good stuff!
---
In general
Sensitivity and style The sensitivity settings you're using shines through. You appear to have fine control of your merc, your movements come across as very precise and considered. As Spade or Llast mentioned, you do seem to stand still a lot more than we do, but I don't see it getting you killed either. I watch you play and think I am totally *not* in control of my merc when I'm zooming about at 10.38 m/s.
Being able to turn instantly on a dime is clearly invaluable and I can see why you made the comment on mine that it looks slower than it could be. I will bump mine to 100% and see how we go. I have a KB/M option too so if I feel inclined I may try it out, though I remember switching from KB/M to DS3 ages ago as using the shotgun with KB/M is crap...I do much better with DS3 for shotgun.
EWAR Your EWAR seems better than mine lol. You seem to pick up more reds than I do - could just be that one game I guess. Scratch that: just looked at your fit: Cpx Prec. Enhancer. I just found a use for that third slot - don't really wanna drop the 3rd Enh shield but I get more shield recharge delay out of it so I will try this little tweak. After all, 55HP is not that many bullets.
Cloak I like how you stop and crouch when you want to remain undetected whilst in full "view". Smaller hitbox for them to accidentally run their sights over. I expect it affords you less HP, so if I can loosen my fit a little by switching out a shield and switching in a PE, then I might have room for one.
Overall One thing I have realised, in watching my own vids, then casting a critical eye on others', is that there is LOADS of information on-screen that I do not pay attention to. Not sure you can keep an eye on all of it, but there's stuff there that I never think about let alone look for.
Also I think all the things I've pointed out happen to everyone all the time - I think that's what Mollerz may have been saying earlier. We all forget to reload sometimes...and perhaps it's the slayers, the gods of the game, who work on making less of these preventable mistakes. It's easy to say X happened because of Y, when you get to watch and rewatch as many times as you want.
I hope this is useful! |

Cautiously optimistic about VR myself. I don't think it can ever get huge mainstream success, I'm just hoping it does better than 3D did, at least as well as the Move. Worried about that though, 3D didn't seem to do so well because people didn't like having to wear the glasses, headsets are another monster altogether.

VR is much more engaging than I had expected, it is simply a better interface device than I had given it credit for (headsets are no more uncomfortable to me than a Mic/Headphones set I use today for in game comms). It is not for every game, and I would not buy a game just because of it, but being able to missile lock a target by looking over my shoulder as I do a barrel roll? That was a lot of fun.
So my current take is that VR will be worth picking up, but the hardware needs to be supported by software that plays to it's unique options, not tries to use the "Oooo" factor as a selling point, you know?

Afternoon all!
I came here to seek help with my Flying Minja fit, see if there was anything I wanted to fine tune.
Current fit is:
Adv Minja scout (M/1?)
3x complex myofibs
1x Comp Dampener 1x Comp Kincat
??? for main gun Adv Knives
Flux Grenade
Adv Cloak ??? (Typically either nothing, or drop uplink)
My thoughts:
The new aspects that jumping provides brings me back to my starter suit and I'm loving it. 3x Comp Myofibs let's get the jump height to get most places pretty easily. I'm probably preaching to the choir here, but I can traverse areas that people aren't expecting to guard, get to points to hack, ambush. The really big thing is to go on anti uplink hunts. I can get alot of places that used to be DS only, and people aren't expecting hit and run tactics from a cloaked scout either, so surprise works big time in my favor.
I've been trying out knives, still have alot to learn about them though. If I am not carrying uplinks, I either run Tac AR, or some form of Scrambler Rifle as main gun, sometimes the CR-90 I think it is, the burst CR version. If I run with uplinks, I carry either a Bolt Pistol or Flaylock as primary weapon.
I find myself favoring a dual sidearm approach, but I'm not good enough with them yet to feel completely comfortable running strictly 2x sidearms all the time. I am getting more comfortable with them, which is good.
The complex damp is there to help get under the average scan, it won't help avoid a dedicated hunter though.
Any thoughts as to anything I should consider?
Thanks! |

On my grounded Minja, I run Knives + Fine Rifle or Bolt. On my flying Minja I prefer Knives + Flaylock.
Jumps + Flaylock = Awesome
Shoot scout with yes.

Although, even when the screen says "you have been scanned" a lot of the times not a single blueberry will notice me.

Not that there's anything wrong with that playstyle of course, it's just that when I run NKs I play like a coked up rabbit in a blood frenzy and I feel like that would be entertaining to watch :P Unfortunately a cap card just isn't worth the price for me.
What speed do you sprint at? It depends. Usually I don't run much in the way of kincats though, usually only a single basic or enhanced so I don't have to sacrifice the rest of my fit. You may as well use a heavy suit. I run less than 2 complex damps and you guys tell me I'm better off in a minnie assault, less than 2 complex kincats and you tell me I'm better off in a heavy I'll never leave the minja you bastards, you're all just jealous of our undying love!
Although knifing in a heavy... could be arranged

It's all about that base.
Base speed that is.
What're you looking at me like that for? I'll shank you I will.

So, someone toss me a bottle and then we can play a nice rousing round of "yell questions at Cross" Which state do you live in? I live in Calfornia, where it is 94 degrees even now.
