That is my understanding as well. So running a proto suit would still be possible with all basic or milita mods/weapons(apex suits)

I drive past enemy and switch to turret it is facing forward.

A question best asked in the /heavy registry aka AllyouCaneatBuffet thread.
XD
I usually just jumped on a blaster turrent and used that for the vehicle assist mission. Stopped really paying attention to the missions when the 10keys event thing stopped though.
Edit: Saw a roden sniper be lost today. Guy was on my team though. Just wanting to finally use it and give it a test. Was a shame, didn't even see it on the killfeed.

It is as bad as spawning at CRU's that are being camped. I always spawn on the side with the enemy (my testing says it is not random) IIRC when you call it in the turret is facing north by default.
If you use the turret and rotate the turret to e.g. face west it will remain like that when you switch back to the driver seat. It doesn't matter how you turn the LAV, the turret will still be looking in the same direction as you left it.
The third person animation of the turret returning to its default position is unrelated to the actual turret orientation. Just imagine it as if there was a blueberry using the turret but never rotating it. It will always face the same direction and not rotate with the LAV orientation.

OPERATION : Lets give noobs a place to fight
Let's see, they're constantly whining about proto stomps, power differences between them and veterans are too big. Okay, meta lockout.
But wait! STD stuff is worthless, how I'm supposed to steamroll those noobs?
Ah, OVERALL meta lockout, this way you can put a proto weapon on a basic frame.
Lets see, I got 15% more damage from my prof V to one tank ,few percent more dmg to both tanks (no idea how much of a percent difference in STD->PRO dmg), 25% more shields and 25% more armor (max cores). I strafe faster, move faster and run faster. I see more on tacnet, and I'm harder to detect.
Oh yeah, if I got too much cash (or not enough life) I can also buy myself a 5% dmg increase.
Yeaaah, gimme that meta lockout, I'm ready :P

If that were true APEX suits would be just as much of a stomp problem. You're also completely ignoring the issue of fittings pg/cpu And a std suit with proto weapon and milita mods vs a low-mid SP straight advanced fit? My money is on the advanced suit. Except maybe in the case of a scrambler rifle.

I'm afraid the difference will be minimal, if any at all.
IMO vets will find this system very easy to exploit. Having access to proto weaponry they will melt std suits in a fraction of a second.
How about a redline Thale in a "naked" maxed cal comando?
I think meta-lock should be more demanding. If it's STD stuff - it should be all the way. If something is underperforming in STD we should look at it and fix it instead of letting people use higher tier stuff because the STD doesn't work. |

IMO
APEX (proto suit with basic modules) < STD suit with proto modules
I think we can all agree that APEX suits aren't fit for maximum efficiency (having main weapon and secondary with the same damage profile, ewar mods that are useless on basic levels are just some examples)
And most importantly - you can't fit it the way you like.
I'm not ignoring the issue of fitting pg/cpu, quite the contrary (that's why I mentioned maxed core skills).
We both know that a level 5 STD assault has lots more fitting space that level 1 STD assault.
Heavy suits have no problem wearing a proto weapon in a basic suit, while having loads of HP (even w/o equipping any mods).
How about trying to find holes in complete meta-lockout system (everything at STD f.e.)? How is the idea of mixed meta loadouts better?

It isn't like Rattati to roll out changes without first disclosing/discussing them. I assume "server update" in this case means something other than Hotfix or balance tweaks.
Speaking of Rattati, last we heard from him Echo details were coming soon. Must be a big change they're testing; wonder what it is? Let the speculation begin!
