Idea! 3-Day, 10-Day, and 30-Day Barge Automatons!
Rent an Automaton from the Spacing Guild to assist you with day-to-day operations aboard your barge. As barge resources are made available, the Automaton collects them and automatically adds them to your inventory. Overflowing stockpiles and wasted production, no more!
The Automaton can also be programmed to keep your cargo holds tidy through direct coordination with your market agent, Jara. Mark all unwanted item categories (i.e. Dropsuits / Heavy) and grade (i.e. Advanced and under) and your Automaton will rummage through your inventories, marking "for sale" all unwanted gear. In turn, Jara will see that your rubbish is sold at the best available market prices.
The Automaton is perfect for only-on-the-weekend warriors, short-term incarcerations, honeymoons, weekend getaways or when on Hinterland Excursions with Bayeth Mal. Reminds me of how I was just talking to my friend the other day, and he was droning on about honey bees and how drones - the males - don't have stingers and die after mating. Kind of reminds me of the robot. Drones, I mean. Bee drones. Robots in Dust. Hm. Drone robots. That would be something.

I don't think having to pay for an automatic pull is going to be any better than just buying the components outright though. Why pay for an automated capture when you can buy the components. I think the idea is great, but it will likely need to be purchased for ISK or one time deal that lasts a year. I can't imagine paying for automatic capture when you will only lose out on a couple hundred components. The automated system would have to be cheaper, AUR wise, than buying the components.
@sub costs Its a more sustainable way to keep cashflow, I don't know why CCP didn't do this from the start. Having subs along micros is a much smarter way to do things. By making the subscription more "meaty" than the micros you end up getting a lot more real life money in the coffers since its consistent.
Interesting thought
Considering the game has changed so much, I am not sure if this is the case, but is there a way to get AUR without spending real life money? If not, start injecting small amounts into daily missions. Giving out "free" AUR allows people who don't put money into the game, get a taste of the utility of AUR. Inevitably they will purchase a $5 pack of AUR to help boost their amount for a juicy new APEX suit, or Omega booster etc. If you give them the opportunity to reduce the $100 cost of something into $50, they are more likely to spend the other half in real life money.....why do I know this, because I have done it lol.

For the most part. Having a sub that goes for a year IMO is the way to go for consistent cash flow to CCP. But it has to be worth it vs microtransactions. I don't see people getting a sub that doesn't help them more than just using small injections of AUR over time as its not "guaranteed" income to CCP. I would imagine Dust has huge ups and downs.
Also my above interesting thought might drive income as well.

CCP Rattati wrote:Bayeth Mal wrote:So Rattati, what's your thoughts on Dust leaning a little too far towards being overly rewarding to people able to log in every day?
Or the juxtaposition of people getting left out?
I'm not sure if you saw my earlier posts but for the entire time I've been playing Dust up until now I've successfully managed to hit the 6kSP daily bonus a grand total of 4 times since it was implemented (IIRC), with a record stretch of 8 days being the longest. (edit: as in logging in the first time on day one, last time on day eight).
This was because my job demanded frequent travel for a few days at a time. But when I was home I'd have marathon sessions, sitting down and knocking out the weekly SP cap over the weekend every week for months at a time (not any more obviously).
Am I less of a player or customer than the guy who logs in, plays a few games and leaves, even though our total hours played over the week may be the same?
Now I'm no longer in that job and while I know it's not exactly normal, if I was still in that job the requirement to log in every day or couple of days in order to keep my warbarge functioning would frustrate me. I would only be getting a fraction out of it compared to others.
I know it's hard to cater to everybody's lifestyle as we're all different, but I was surprised by this as my understanding is you were trying to help out the "casual, have job and kids and can only get a few hours in on the weekend" player.
Any player with a job must be infinitely more valuable as a customer than the unemployed "poop sock" squad.
Note: This is a re-post as it was missed. Ugh, I would love to tie rewards to "played" minutes, rather than logons. Let me think about this, and no, I don't feel that you are less of a player/customer at all. Feel free to help me with non-exploitable fixes to rewarding crunch players that don't make the others feel that they don't need to log in regularly. Problem is that everytime you leave for work, I don't know if you are ever coming back :), maybe a subscription system might say "I am dedicated, reward me".
How about something along the lines of an increase to capacity based on player engagement. Right now it appears capacity is twice the production rate, so that means logging in to claim every 48 hours before production ceases.
What if 2x capacity was established as a baseline, but this could rise to a maximum of 7x (seven days in a week) for example?
Then, based on some measurement of player engagement, players "crunching" over a shorter duration could benefit from 7x worth of stashed widgets in the same way as a player claiming their stashes every day.
Could player engagement could be measured in:
- battles completed? - SP earnt? (don't like this one)
A rolling figure would dictate a rolling capacity, e.g. let's assume roughly 100 battles at 7.5K SP each to cap out on SP (as the SP cap is a weekly threshold):
- If you completed 14 battles a day, you would have a constant 7x capacity (an increase of 5x from the baseline) - If you completed 7 battles a day, you would have a constant 4.5x capacity (2 + 2.5)
- If you crunched 50 battles on day 1, and 50 battles on day 2: -- day 1, bumps to 3.5x capacity -- day 2, bumps to 7x capacity
I know there is some variation here in the maths and the rolling aspect, but hopefully you get the gist. Basically, if a merc ploughs through a weeks worth of battles in 2 days, they get a weeks worth of capacity that will allow them to reap all of the next 7 days widgets in 7 days time.
Any other merc logging in minimum every two days always gets to claim full production regardless.

Could have a small daily multiplier that grows the more matches you play, and resets daily. Should be put at a number that allows those who crunch on the weekend to catch up SP wise. Could also apply it to the salvage system so that your likelyness of getting components from salvage increases. Also, I would love a subscription system that grows its rewards.the longer you are.subscribed, similar to PS2. Sounds familiar. Then again, the response was mostly negative due to extreme tungsten foil hattery. As much as I would love to just subscribe and not have to log in and deal with the excruciating wait time for the Aurum store to load up, I seriously doubt that the general community wants anything to do with the subscription moniker for... Well. I genuinely have no idea. Something about having an unfair advantage of non-paying players or something.
Aeon, have you noticed the speed of the Aurum store load time now? It is much, much faster. I think they fixed it!

It was epic. A seriously good fight. I noticed some better fights as well. A lot were still one sided, and at one point the squad I jumped into ran into the same Nyan San Ambush squad 3 times in a row, but otherwise there were more competitive matches than I had seen in a long time.
