Tried out the HMG, ran a boundless, had serious difficulty taking out a very tanked up Cal Scout who just strafed and returned fire. Was range dramatically reduced? It felt so bad I wondered if I was having hit detection issues. I haven't had somebody ignore an HMG like that at that range since 1.6. Just anecdotally from that encounter and a few others (tanked out assaults) the nerf seems to have worked. Rattati, invest in a flotation vest, the tsunami of tears is coming. Good job. Scouts, prepare yourselves. We are the last remaining hurdle before the return of the all powerful mediums. The game won't be balanced until Medium Range weapons preform on par with Short and CQC weapons dammit!
The cal scout encounter was actually quite close range, around 18m and the player in question was "Jeremy 12 kah blah blah blah". That whole match he switched between nothing but HP modded Scouts, Assaults and Sentinels.

Every now and then you do encounterd absurd jumps, like above their own head sort of thing. Way back last year I recall a tanked out gal logi making strafing jumps that would embarrass a scout. Djinn something or other. He landed up on a set of crates so don't think it was an animation issue.

Because when it comes down to it the heavy is still way more efficient than other dropsuits when it comes down to risk v reward. The heavy just doesn't have enough drawbacks for the hp and firepower it recieves, for example the heavy can completely negate a proto gallente assault at basic level. There are few ways to counter a heavy that don't require multiple people, and there are barely any drawbacks to exploit to solo one 1 on 1. The only drawback to a heavy is slow speed but they get extremely high hp and a 800 dps **** gun that can completely negate the usefulness of any gun at 40M.

Has anybody checked out the hilarious RR hipfire now?
Grab one and hipfire a whole clip and don't try to fight it. It's cartoonishly silly, the way the gun bounces around. The gun itself bounces around the bottom of your screen so fast the frame rate can't keep up and it looks like it's teleporting.
Gave me a giggle.

Also if you're playing Destiny and didn't get yourself "The Last Word" I feel bad for you. That thing is freaking sweet.
It has a special firing animation and you twirl it in your hand (my favourite thing about nova knives).
Sprint up to a boss, blink teleport over behind them, turn, twirl your pistol like a bad ass cowboy and rapid fire every chamber into the back of their head.
Oh Hells Yeah!

May I suggest you to put Heavy Damage Modifiers from 8% to 7% like light weapons? That would just make sense, since every heavy has the HMG double modded.

So far it is pretty fun. I'm running the advanced on a dual pistol fit combined with the bolt pistol and they combo is working out well. I'm still trying to figure out the best use of the charge shot. I've used it a couple of times, but it has only netted a few kills and caused more deaths?
So Mr. Shovel, any recommendations for the charge shot use? Two of the following must be true:
- You are behind them and can line up a headshot.
- You can quickly jump into cover to deal with the seize.
- The enemy is low on health.
I am part shovel, part man, full scout, and a little bit special.

Quite the contrary, it was the simplest and easiest way to add uncertainty to a system that was entirely too binary. Numbers need to be tweaked so that Scouts aren't -always- unscannable however, in my opinion. At <15m Scouts shouldn't be worrying about whether or not they've been discovered on their minimap with the way CQC options are right now. At that range you're usually already dead or can't see the icon on the minimap because it's too close to your own.

Regardless of what you are suggesting, it is pretty much a non starter to ask a super low HP suit to be visible on tacnet.
If you want us to be assault lights, just say so. Give all scouts base HP just shy of an Assault, and profile just a little bit better.
It would be a crap suit and crap play style IMO, but it would be more viable than asking a scout to make significant sacrifices and still pop up on tacnet for heavies with insane HP and DPS with a weapon that is viable far beyond it's effective range, primarily against suits with 1/3rd to 1/5th the HP.
If scouts can't have EWAR, heavies shouldn't have HP. Plain and simple.

I'll grab it next time I guess. But I haven't even found a legendary HC and I refuse to buy one, it's a principle thing at this point. I can't believe the odds of not finding given all the various legendary drops I've had.

Trying to wrap my head around Zatara's intent over there.
Scouts have been nerfed and nerfed again on account of their outperforming Assaults. This is a scalpel at work. Rattati could've slammed us with a hammer, and I (for one) am grateful that he's chosen instead to iterate. So long as the data continues to support that "Assault Lite" is outslaying Assaults or "Logi Lite" is out-logiing Logis, I'm 100% in favor of further tweaks. When a unit is outperformed in his role by a unit from an altogether different role, we have a role bleed problem, which we should try our best to remedy.
Roles should be clearly defined ... Scouts should be the very best at Scoutin'. Assaults should be the very best Assaultin' Logis should be the very best at Logi stuff.
Zatara wants to gift our ability to scan to another unit. In my mind, Scanning is fundamental to Scouting. It is what a Scout contributes to his squad. What good is being able to sneak, if I cannot relay intel and I am not supposed to slay?
It seems to me that Zatara is trying to redefine our role. If you want to redefine my role and call me an Assassin, that is perfectly fine by me. But I'll need better tools. And you don't get that "chance to respond". And I'll need you get off my lawn about killing too well. Its what I contribute to my squad. |
