Hi Jackal,
All you have to do is let us know if you run the Scout Suit less regularly. Otherwise, I'll pull your stats periodically and update them along with the Community's. The (0, 0) next to your name will but be updated Saturday or Sunday to reflect changes in Killcount/KDR you've observed since being added to the Registry. When 1.5 is released, these metrics will be reset to (0, 0). We use this system (Delta Kills, Delta KDR) as a means of measuring how a given build is affecting us individually and as a whole. I hope this answers your questions. Let me know if I can be of further assistance.

Oh okay, I understand how the system works now. I had no idea we even had a leaderboard lol. Had to actually check ingame and welp, there's a leaderboard. I'm terrible D: thanks for the info though. Don't expect me to run anything but a scout suit, nothing more satisfying than sneaking up on a heavy and killing it in 2-3 hits, especially an expensive suit. |

I think as scouts we need every advantage we can get, so I'd say absolutely: nail him with the Flaylock!
Hell, I use every trick I can to get kills, which for me mostly entails sneaking up and murdering unsuspecting medium frames when they are foolishly trying to cap our objectives. SMG to the back of the dome with no chance to fight back... probably no more or less fair than a flaylock at close range.
Screw em all. If they wanted a fair fight, they'd be wearing scout suits and using something other than ARs..... |

I had a terrible day yesterday, really disheartened. Sneaking up on ppl and plunking them with my CRG-3, then proceed to miss every next shot until they mow me down.
Not sure if I was just having a bad day, but damn - not enjoyable.
Interesting to see Shotty mention once they start jumping about, shotgun is useless. Hadn't realised that, that's effectively what seemed to be happening to me, although at this point shouldn't it still be possible to finish the job with the shotgun? If that takes special skill, then I'll feel a little happier about my deaths yesterday at least.
What I'm trying to figure out is how to stay close to my prey so that I negate their ability to keep a bead on me and I can keep out of their line of fire enough to nail them. Is this a tactic that is possible? Perhaps I'm trying to do something that is nigh on impossible.
All in all, the flipping auto-aim is p1ssing me off right now. I don't like dying so fast, and so far I refuse to use an AR, although tempted just to see what all the fuss is about. Maybe I'd learn something about how to stay alive longer.
Meh! :( |

I managed it with a forge gun once. It was actually one of those pause for jaw drop moments not believing I'd done that, let alone it being possble. Probably never do it again, but knowing it's possible makes it cool and you know you might manage it.
All I was doing was aiming generally at the car, one shot took the driver clean out, car slowed to a halt. Wish I had it on video, it was wow haha. |

I think it's been mentioned that the subsequent shotgun pellets go to your original hit location (except maybe for a pellet or two), even when you move your aiming reticule to track your target and so it's hard to get additional hits.
I guess maybe we should make 'em pay: use the breach with a damage mod and make the first hit count. It's what I'm gonna try when I actually get off my duff and put some more SP into shotguns..... |

Yeah though I've had better days since 1.4 - maybe I got complacent. That and CCP said it's just the visual effect...though we're not so sure. Something does still seem off with the shotty. Maybe it's glitchy - works sometimes not others.
Tempted to try your idea with breach + damage mods - don't like the idea of giving up shield, but the difference between 1 bullet and three ain't much - I can rarely escape even with two complex shield extenders.
But...we are supposed to be able to finish the job with a shotgun right? Or does that require uber skill? |

(dude, I need to follow this thread better. 10 pages since I was last here.)
So if a Scout is someone that used a light frame or scout suit more than 50% of the time, Does that make me a sniper? because I do that more than 50% of the time. Considering most of the games I play are PCs and they rarely let me play not-sniper.
I just don't do it when I run in scout squads, on those new I-Hate-Sniper maps, am practicing with a new weapon, or see another scout on the other side. Which means, your idea of me is a little biased. I also love taking down you other scouts with my shotgun. Marauder is the only one of you with a positive win/loss ratio vs me. ("but you don't fight fair! those aren't 1v1s, you're just sneaking up on me." lol that's the whole point of a scout)
I also have so very many weapons. Plasma Cannon and Mass Driver at the advance level. Swarms, shotgun, sniper, and scrambler rifle at proto, and SMG, Scrambler pistol, and flaylock at proto.
But, ah, favorite scout-squad moment so far: "Argh! you stole my kill!" "What, no, I was trying to help you out. you were almost dead!" "No I wasn't" "yeah, you had like, nothing left on your bar" "no." "Yeah, you were at half armor" ". . . that means I still had 200HP left." "Oh..." |

I think I'd be more inclined to try the breach if it had a better reload speed. it is more than double the regular variant's and only has 2 in the clip. Though that does make Proficiency V take off a whole 0.325 seconds per round! |

The other consideration is that the flaylock has nice fitting requirements for a scout suit... |

How are you guys using the shotgun? It seems to work fine for me, as long as I use my active scanner lol. Went 21--0 last night as a scout shotty and was just in the zone :D I still think that the breach shotgun should be more like the force-a-nature from TF2, 2 quick shots with a pretty fast reload speed to make up for only having 2 shots per clip. I tried using the breach shotgun and found it VERY terrible, it didn't even OHK anything for me. Even when the target was standing still and I shot from point blank, it'd leave enough hp for him to turn around before the second shot goes off at which point I just whip out my pistol since that seems to be faster than waiting for eternity for the second shot to come out. |

I've been playing around with the Breach SMG, but I nearly always use the Flaylock Pistol. It was nerfed- rather, it was balanced- to a good point where it isn't useless, but most people that can't aim can't kill with it. and that first shot regularly takes out their shields so the extra armor damage is always preferable. also a good counter to those "dancers" because they rarely leave it's blast radius. |

Hey Cass, I don't have you listed as a sniper (in fact, I don't have you listed at all ... is Cass Caul an alt?) but you bring up a good point. Those who are listed as Scout Snipers, I believe, snipe more often than not. Their statistical distributions and delta values are quite disparate from non-snipers, which warrants a separate grouping. Those I believe to be Scout Snipers include:
Tyjus Vacca Keeriam Miray Admonishment voidfaction Kodho Decasor Samantha Hunyz JieXi Bao

(1) I first noticed difficulty "finishing" with the Shotgun about a week back. I'd deal good damage on my first shot, but subsequent shots tended to scratch, unless the target was standing relatively still. Doesn't happen every time, but its happening often enough for me to not trust the Shotgun.
(2) It's not just you. Lightning xVx, CommanderBolt and Morathi are as well (to name a few).
(3) I try the same thing...when possible, plunk from melee distance...get more pellets on target. It'll be more effective if/when the shotgun is made more reliable.
(4) After running with the AR, I can vouch for its effectiveness. SP investment drastically improves the AR. 1M or so SP may not be a bad long-term investment; some of the more open maps are brutal for shotgunners.
