backstory
Scene from The Last of Us. They were doing motion capture work, trying to troll one of the actors. They turn the scene into a musical, he plays along and it's pretty fn funny.
My bad if you have already seen it, but I just watched it for first time. XD

On kebabs
Shish, doner, chicken.. Standard fare in most English kebab places. In the south at least. In my experience, kebab shops are run by Turkish people. My old local one had a picture of Alanya on the wall, which I went to on my first visit to Turkey, donkey's years ago.
Doner is lamb on a giant skewer they slice the meat off, and always involves pita bread when drunk. Coz messy walk down the street. A fairly common sight on a Sunday morning is a pile of lettuce / salad / sauce gunk at bus-stops or anywhere really. Coz they like to put a garden on top and you can't be arsed to tell em not to. That and British binge drinking.
Chicken kebab is exactly the pic that was posted, where it's on small skewers.
I had shawarma in Greece, and I've had it at a shawarma place that opened here. For me it's the high quality kebab (sorry for my ignorance of these dishes, I'm sure I'm ignorant of the details). Read: shawarma is amazing.
mollerz wrote:Adipem Nothi wrote:IAmDuncanIdaho II wrote:... have decided that all great stories, and probably some **** ones, all derive influence from Frank Herbert's Dune universe, because after all that is the greatest fiction ever created.
Was blown away by the first book. An absolute must read, everyone. What followed though ... Don't even get me started on Herbert's son.
Note to self: Should I have a legacy to leave, remind son not to sh!t allover it. I almost rented this yesterday. I think I am going to catch it this weekend.
@Shotty
>> What followed though ...
I'm not really a book critic (not saying you are), I just don't pick up on **** writing or whether "character development" is any good. I like all the books, I think what, ten by Frank and another five or so by Brian and Kevin J. And the films. I guess I'm a fanboi ;-)
You should hear my summary of the Star Wars I - III films. I don't think I know a single other person likes them. I do. Coz nostagia I guess. Coz fight scene with double-edge light-sabre. I dunno. ATEOTD, I enjoyed em. Even if they were technically crap...if I enjoy them, it doesn't matter. And I guess I enjoy them coz I don't pick up on the technical quality. I was four years old when Episode IV was released.
@mollerz
Woah. Will be watching. Thanks!
[edit]
Blade Runner - another awesome film. Follows the book pretty closely. Another good read : Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep by Philip K. ****. I mean - how can you not pick that up with that title?
[edit2] LOOOOL. Philip's surname is censored. That's Philip K. Dick

Disc-world, Dune, IRL Crime, Skyrim... damn.
My Skyrim charcter, Altmer, named Bayeth (it's the name I use for pretty much everything). Conjuration and Destruction. Flaming purple sword in one hand, fire bolt in the other. Very much of the battle mage build.
I did 3 playthroughs with each of the main classes. Archery was fantastic. When you leveled in it sneaking around nailing dudes from their watch towers as their bodys rag doll down a ravine.

Also, I take it everyone's played Bioshock: Infinite?
I played it right after playing The Last of Us, it was a surreal moment realising these two very different games have you playing a fairly unlikeable, absurdly violent, grizzled middle aged man running around with a upbeat teenage girl with a "special ability" that the whole story revolves around .
And they both kinda have punch in the gut endings.
I liked both of those ladies though, kinda made me wanna have a daughter, but then I remembered "rule 34" and I'm like, "nope, not having a daughter". This world is full of gross perverts...
... I should know, I am their leader.

Made an Orc with one eye blinded and dark red warpaint looking like blood smeared across his face artlessly with his right hand.
Dear Llast.
I don't know who you are, but when everything calmed down and I could try to think again, I found your name scrawled on a tattered slip of paper in my pocket. Things are going strangely for me... I have no touchstone. So writing letters to a strange name, given the circumstances, seems as good a plan as any.
I woke up in the back of a cart with two soldiers and a horse thief. Whiny sot, that one. Died. Not important. The Empire tried to execute me with the soldiers. I'm not even one of them. Suddenly, Dragon. Not hundreds of them, just one. But I sh*t you not, an honest to gods dragon. All hell broke loose, but I kept it calm, got to safety. One of the soldiers I was in the cart with led me into a little turret in the town's wall..
Didn't last long. Dragon was on a rampage. I still kept it calm. That soldier pointed out how I could jump to the second floor of the inn across the alley, so I did... . and ran into one of the bastards tryin' to execute me. Hadvar, his name was. Filthy human. Are you human?
Anyway, he tells me to follow him if I wanna live. I make a ruckus about my hands still being bound, but I don't think he heard me, what with the dragon screeching and shouting. It's like the old legends... they don't just belch flame. They speak and flame gouts forth! It's like... words. I had the strangest feeling if I only knew the language, I could do the same thing. It was like a pressure building in my chest to shout right back at the ugly bastard...
Weird, I know.
So I follow Hadvar and we run into the rebel soldier again. I have to choose between the two of 'em, and for fear of the Imperial cutting me down if I go with the rebel, I stick with Hadvar. He finally cuts me loose when we go inside and invites me to rummage through the chests for gear. I find some armor and a couple of swords... then I find a servicable battleaxe. You know, one of the big ones. I heft it a few times and eye that Hadvar fellow who'd ordered me to the chopping block... but I realize I don't know my way around this keep. I need this human. For now.
We fight our way through the bowels of the earth, beneath the keep, to a secret exit Hadvar knew, killing a couple of rebels along the way. They wouldn't just leave us alone... too wrapped up in their war to just escape the bloody dragon. Humans...
When we got out into the open air, we could see the dragon flying away. And as I looked around, just before I took Hadvar's head, I realized... I have no idea where I am. I've never been to Skyrim. I never intended to come to Skyrim. But Hadvar's talking about an uncle in the next town down the road. I still need this bastard.
He takes me to see this uncle, a blacksmith. The uncle makes no big deal of me being an Orc, offers me hospitality. Now I can't kill Hadvar. People think us orcs are savage brutes... and we are. But we got rules.
I'm sleeping at Uncle Alvor's shop... tomorrow I'll try to figure this all out.
Whoever you are...
