I did the number crunching and for weapon variations on Commandos I got this: -28 different variations on the Caldari Commando -28 different variations on the Gallente Commando -15 different variations on the Minmatar Commando
And on the Amarr Commando: -6 variations -10 variations if we add a Breach Laser Rifle

More evidence on the Amarr Commando needing a buff It might be interesting if Variants gave the bonus to Faction suits that they mimic. Example Amarr Mando gets the bonus to TAC Variants of all weapons.

How about something like this: 50% Standard to Prototype ProgressionThis is quite a simplistic approach, but I consider that a good thing. I have modelled the tiers on the basis that the gap between standard and proto should be 50% of the standard module, just like your hp mod numbers, and carried this through to all modules. There are some irregularities due to me cleaning up some of the numbers, but I've tried to stick to 50%. Also, just like your proposal, I have tried to maintain as close to a linear progression as I can. I don't really see why we should have varied progressions, so I think I disagree with you there. Why should we vary the benefit of tiers between modules? I know what you mean about focussing on hp mods to help new players first, but I don't like the idea go buffing hp mods without buffing everything else at the same time. I don't want to perpetuate king hp, and often it's the utility modules that need the most help at lower tiers. CPM love their clear, standardised, relationships. This is a great opportunity to implement a simple relationship in a great way. Basically standard + 50% = proto. Easy to understand. Whether 50% is too small a gap is up for debate. Such a small gap would certainly help disadvantaged mercs and hopefully both improve NPE and battle quality. Finally, it goes without saying that militia modules should have the same stats as standard, just cost more resources. Unfortunately there are some modules where militia is worse than standard. For example, last I checked, a militia shield regulator is 10% compared to 15% for standard. Making it pretty much pointless. This needs fixing. edit: For reference, a 50% increase from standard to proto is similar to the current progression for armour plates (59%). I like it, Varoth. I've cleaned up my earlier Tier Progression spreadsheet and added a tab to include your suggestion: Google Doc
For the most part, our numbers vary only slightly between proposals. Your rounded numbers are prettier than mine :-)
