I look forward to leap-kills with myofibs.
I may or may not be cooking up a melee/mass driver scout with 500 damage punch.
I'm also anxious to hear about: backpedal speed cloak override glitch when trying to sprint
I enjoy the idea of making dampening more dynamic through the use of variable 'lit-up' time. The time you remain lit on tacnets depending on how much the scanner beat your profile by. This is a fun idea. The leap myofibs, combined with less backpedal speed is going make nova knives a lot more fun.
I'm really looking forward to the backpedal speed nerf. It makes me rage everytime someone backpedals constantly out of my NK range.

High slot codebreakers is a difficult one. On the one hand the thought of being able to fit more damps, kin cats and code breakers would be awesome.
On the other hand losing shields might be bad.
I doubt many min scouts would brick fit. I don't see much wrong with going for the whole Minmatar dual tank that the assaults do so well with, and fitting a reactive plate, if someone wanted to.
Personally I would be in favour of the change, but I can see the other side of the discussion. |

I thought it was the Minja who wanted CBs moved to highs (because damps are needed in competitive play). Did I miss something? I'm no competitive player, but I'd appreciate CBs in the highs. Mostly because I need my lows for kincats. Damps are becoming important even in pubs for me, so there's that too. Plus there's nothing besides extenders and rechargers to fit on highs for me. Wish I could fit dmg mods but goddamn are they resource intensive.

When I wanted them in Highs, Assaults were less scouty. Now they are already out scouting us in some ways.
I still want them in Highs, but I think I could only get behind it if we significantly nerf starting Hack speed for Assaults. Most people only want them for kills anyways.
And it is precisely because of Dampening or even KinCats that we need them in High Slots, but only in an environment where we are not hurting ourselves by switching.

This is a fun idea. I have a similar fit right now. I have an Adv Minja with near 500 melee damage, except instead of the MD its a PLC, because reasons.
Also, because it is a fun fit, I run a KinCat instead of damps.
The one I use the most is my Quafe M-1 with 300 or 350 melee damage, PLC, Cloak for stealthy head smashing, KinCat, and PG Enhancer to get it all to fit.

We need Lows for Damps and KinCats.
This idea came about prior to 1.9 when Medium Frames were not an issue, and we believed that the changes coming would be to make Scouts less adept at Assaulting.
The more I think about it in the current mechanics, I think it would be a detriment.

Go through your assets, one by one.
Check every dropsuit category, every light weapon category, every heavy weapon category, every sidearm category. It could be any officer or experimental item... Somewhere.
That one item you claimed? You'll have to check for about, hm, 30 types before you find it, probably?

On ScoutsTo quote Jebus, Active Scanners are not the counter to Scouts and Dampeners; Scouts and Dampeners are the counter to Active Scanners. I agreed with Jebus' sentiment 100% at the time and today over 9000% on account of Falloff. On Non-ScoutsOur goal in buffing damps is to increase utilization of damps. In order to increase utilization, damps must become more appealing to units other than Scouts. Assuming a GalLogi is fielded (and they often are), what incentive is there for any unit other than a Scout to run damps? Yes, GalLogi scans are OP; but even if we reigned them in a 'bit, we'd still see low damp utilization rates among non-Scouts. And if you are still getting scanned by active scanners, than you need more dampeners. A proto GalLogi with a Proto Scanner can probably scan you if you don't have enough dampening. The binary nature of scanning is a bad thing. It forces people to either go full dampening or don't bother with it at all. There is no middle ground.
There is absolutely no incentive to use damps on anything but Scouts because most of the time they don't give you enough of an advantage compared to other modules, most prominently HP modules.
The problem with how damps currently work is that they become useless, as soon as there is a scanner around that is too powerful. With a GA Logi on the field, the entire enemy team gets the advantage of the all-seeing eye of that single GA Logi, rendering damps entirely useless if you can't completely hide from that scanner. And damps are the only module that work like that. They are the only module that can become completely useless if you don't stack a lot of them.
One solution would be to buff dampeners, but this would further contribute to the binary nature of scanning, and we don't want that.
But if dampeners reduced the scanned duration, scanning would become less powerful without rendering it useless, and maybe more people would consider using damps even if they can't hide from scanners completely.
Dampeners would become more of a viable alternative to HP modules, especially for medium suits.
Active scanners are the most overpowered piece of equipment in this game. They completely remove the ability to flank enemy positions in anything but scout suits by giving the whole team the exact locations of enemies and on top of that a nice little wallhack chevron above their heads so that the only thing you have to do is to wait until the enemy comes around the corner and shoot them in the head. And there has to be a viable counterplay to that for all suits, not just scouts, and that counterplay should not be stacking as many damps as you can to render scans useless.
