I wasn't good at English in HS either, mostly because of bad teachers and some notion that those good at math can't be good at English. Somewhere along the line, I started to improve, and I always found that the more I read, the better I could express my thoughts.

Yup, looking awesome indeed. I hope the bonuses are to support & not directly to battle. I die fast enough, don't need mobile offices providing additional damage.
It's great having things to look forward too. The feeling of hope around Dust was quashed pretty hard after the rouge wedding, but they seem to be suprising me here & there.
When i see QQ posts & habe nothing to say, i troll/whine about being bored in my quarters. Since holo-honey & I don't feel confortable making eye contact anymore, opening the doors to a new space is going to be sweet!
Adding value to my corp beside just a tax fund source is pretty cool too. I may be a tool, but i get sad when I'm not useful.

Just be glad that development is an iterative process, if it doesn't work as intended it can be changed. Bigger issues have seen changes outside of hotfixes (1k rpm Duovolles), so if it starts hurting too bad they may address it quickly.

Somewhere along the line, I started to improve, and I always found that the more I read, the better I could express my thoughts. This 100%. The ONLY reason I ever excelled at English was the fact that I listened to Harry Potter audiobooks while I fell asleep as a kid. I didn't realize it at the time but looking back now it was fantastic practice. I got to absorb a whole series worth of writer's vocabulary and syntax at a really early age without any effort. Now if only there were something like that for math.
That's the number 1 tip I give to people who struggle with english though, just read a ton. If Harry Potter audiobooks don't do it for you (Though they are fantastic... get the Jim Dale version), try reading some modern classics. My favorite book by far right now is The Things They Carried, it's a really weighty and thoughtful collection of stories about Vietnam. At least try reading the first chapter. The first chapter is practically self contained as a short story so it doesn't really matter if you stop there.

At the same time, too much BS will result in wasted time and/or poor consequences.
Alan Alda actually funds a science program at a college out west somewhere (heard it on Science Friday, but can't remember the name of the program or college) that teaches people involved in STEM (the epitome of jargon and info) how to better communicate ideas so that people don't get lost with too much technicality or get bored by poor presentation.
Essentially that is what you want, for there to be the right mix of knowledge presented in a clear and concise manner.

I have watched 2 seasons of GoT, after I read all the books. I think you would be better off reading all of the books and getting some of the details that aren't in the show. They are all rather good.

The goal was to be able to explain complex concepts in general terms and achieve understanding from your audience.
Work like this is sorely needed!
I never heard so many bs concepts in my work, it's the sad ones that seem to stick. Maybe because i can mentally recall the physical pain associated with it (facepalm).

Other times, its a matter of just how we work as humans and the flaws in the way we take in, interpret, and process information.

On communication: I'm noticing people saying to read a lot. While that's useful, writing a lot is, IMHO even more important.
So while in college one of my tricks for studying was taking a break in reading to then talk to myself like I was giving a presentation on the matter like some kind of expert. Dont do it in the study hall, people will think you're crazy.
Sometimes half way through a sentence I'd realise I was missing some critical fact or concept. Then go look it up and go on talking.
I hate public speaking but even now (5 years later) if you shoved a microphone in my face and said "explain endosymbiotic theory" I could do it by rote.
Also: grammar is not your enemy. While some rules are arbitrary many are tools to help you communicate, take the time to learn them.
Another suggesstion is to pick up a Philosophy of Logic text book. I did a general ed paper in it during my undergrad and it changed the way I even thought about how I communicate on a fundamental level. I should imagine to a programmer it would be actually pretty easy as it's quite mathematical in nature.
Sometimes I hang around the ELI5 threads on Reddit helping out where I can to keep myself in mental shape and stop me forgetting science things I don't use anymore in my life/career.
We'll bang, OK?

^ What Mal said! If you college kiddies get the chance, put together a pre-exam study group for the underperformers in your class. The act of presenting material and answering questions imprints on the brain unlike anything else. You'll be doing yourself as much a favor as you're doing your classmates.
As far as books go, absolutely agree with OEK and Pseudo. If a helicopter is out of your budget, audio books are the next best way to conquer the morning commute and traffic jams.

I'm good, we already do like a presentation each week on college related assignments, and while I actually love being up on a stage and having a whole room focused on me (and trying to keep them focused ) I'm not so sure anyone else in my course is.

I rent mine for free from the local library. The bookstore took me for $40 on two different occasions with "best sellers" which turned out to be complete garbage.
Real books > Audio books. #BusLife.
Out of interest, how does one rent an audio book from a library? Regular books I get, but not audio.

Podcasts are amazing too, especially educational ones.
