You'll need to tank that CalScout more than in times past. Won't get much mileage out of your passives. I'd recommend running mostly shields in highs and a cmp damp + ferro or reactive plate in lows. Alternatively, mix in a couple myofibs in your highs for kicks. The jumps are fun. Rail Rifles and MagSecs are both in pretty good shape balance-wise. RR is going to kick when hipfired more than you remember; ARR is less mule-like from the hip but is somewhat unwieldy when aimed. I think you'll really like the MagSec's handling. Finally feels just right :-) In your shoes, I'd run MagSec + Knives. PS: I have a few million ISK and a handful of Nothi Knives for you to put to good use. I remember us being slightly too powerful when I left with a general scout buff and the release of the cloaks. Have they handled the balancing well since I left? Fumbled it as so often the case while I was here? Or have they just let the game's balance collect dust () and only done minor things like bug fixes? Any new toys? Nerf bat city my friend. Cloaks finally got the delay they needed, however it is clunky, takes 3 seconds for what is supposed to be a 1 second delay (2 seconds to decloak, one second uncloaked and vulnerable), so that when you try to switch, you sometimes don't. This delay is also in effect just for having the cloak equipped, even if it is not active. Cloaking also makes your EWAR blind. You only have 15% of your scanning range. So if a heavy is sitting around a corner, and is 16% of your range away, you have no idea. EWAR was reworked into 3 sets of rings, in terms of scanning. The middle ring is what was traditional profile intensity, though it's furthest edge is now 90% of range, which has also changed. For full numbers, check out the stats on the first page of the thread. The inner ring is now intended to be so low that it is usually unbeatable, no matter what your skill is, set up, or cloak, generally with minimal effort on the scanners part, unless they are a heavy. That range is usually around 5m, give or take a few, but is awfully killer to knifing. Myos have now added a jumping bonus as well as melee strength. People can now jump really high. Its interesting with the places you can reach, however, as a squishy scout, you now have Assaults (much buffed) raining down MDs with little accuracy, and are able to kill you quite quickly. Medium frames got an EWAR buff, and Logis now have better passive scan range than Scouts. Medium frames also got a profile reduction, if I remember correctly. Knives, MDs, and HMGs now do full damage to vehicles. HMGs got nerfed. Bandwidth was implimented. Now each suit has its on Bandwidth limit. This affects EQ. Each piece of EQ has a Bandwidth. So, say you have a suit with 6 BW, and try placing 2 Uplinks, which each take up 4 Bandwidth. The second UL you lay will exceed your capacity, which will make your first UL zap out of existence. The amount of BW you have available depends upon the suit you are using, not what you have used in the past. Since Sentinels have zero BW, a player can no longer spawn in a Logi, lay tons of UL and Hives, and then switch to a Sent and slay while racking up WP with their links. All the links will just disappear if they switch. Those are the big ones I can think of off the top of my head. I am sure there are others. Former CEO of the Land of the BIind. The only problem is that pre 1.8, people didn't expect scouts, or how to handle scouts. They would chase us around a circular console not recalling we were faster, at which point we would go from being chased, to knifing them in the back. That doesn't happen now. People never used to check an objective for REs. If you ran around a corner or through a door, they would always chase you right through. Now, they toss grenades, and take very wide corners.
