Took a similar approach. Had 3 mages casting from range while my main dude (rogue, obviously) got in close and chopped away at one particular leg. For whatever reason, the mages really aggro'd the dragon; he all but completely ignored the rogue while sending lots of flames and fireballs at the mage pile. Tactical mode really came in handy, as did disabling all friendly AI moves bar "regular attack". I kept the mages packed fairly close together; close enough for one round of Barrier to cover all three.

Dragon looks like he's winding up a fireball.
Run away! Run away!
All the while, rogue tirelessly chops away at a bleeding dragon leg.

I found with two non magi attackers up close the dragon didn't often bother with the magi.
I also kept the physical attackers in close proximity so that they could be covered in one shield spell.
I never used anything other than the tactical fighting in game unless it was against a lone, weak opponent or an animal I needed a hide from.

Of course that assumes the game isn't a stomp and that there is some advantage to strategy.

After getting into a few more games with him I realized what he does...
He sits in the redline with proto and waits for newbs to come and attempt to kill him...
I dunno what defines poor and being a bitch...
but that seems to get pretty damn close...

If someone is interested, I`m willing to set up a match with a bet.
Can't decide still on the rules but was thinking about something like this:
Ghost hacker challenge:
-attack a random district, 2 people participating on our team, whoever shows up on the other team.
-scout suits only
-most WP at the end of the match wins
-for every death -100 wp
-for every kill -50 wp (yes, that's MINUS 50 WP )
-succesfull objective hack +100 wp (on top of usual 100)
