The other day I tested out my Swarm and KN fitGǪ
Success on Fratured Road.
Eseentially just a Knifing fit with swarms. Had to scale back my Redfars and Damage Mods
Rann around Knifing people and when opportunity came up drove off two dropships, blew up a parked LAV, and teamed up on a HAV. Effective at keeping the vehicles away, not great at killing them.

Kaeru has been on a bit of a hiatus, I still keep a duologue with him via www.gog.com and e-mail but I don't believe he's been on Dust recently. As I understand it he has some shiny new toys as well as a bike to repair so is embracing summer at present.

Haerr was on this morning, and posts at least weekly downstairs on his alt. Kaeru I've not seen for a while...a month perhaps. |

A while back (must have been before summer since Jebus, Summer, +others were still playing Dust) we were going on about competitive balance in games.
I mentioned that I really liked GW (Prophecies) back in the day. While it was lacking a lot of features when it was first released, and the balance was all over the place, things like the HoH (a continuously running ladder tournament), GvG, match replays, loads of team builds to be figured out and a rapidly changing meta made it tons of fun.
Anyway I mentioned that we had this sort of required reading back then which was a couple of articles (or a compilation or something like that) from Sirlin. It turns out that this fellow has ended up working as a game balancer (and designer). And so while rereading some of the things he had written, very niche job title aside, he makes a couple of good points.
Since a lot was about fighting games (I remember Kaeru being very interested in them but not having heard of Sirlin before) I ended up replaying a couple of them (mostly SF2hd, and Tekken6) when I had the chance during summer.
Erhm... Right I have no idea were this was heading anymore, wait there was something about scrubs as well that I am not remembering.
But yeah that guy sometimes blogs about competitive balance in games, and if you get stuck on trains not running like they're supposed to and/or stuck on the country-side while it is just pouring down (or you know if you happen to have some interested in game design or competitive balance) it makes for good enough reads. |

So, finally obtaining internet has allowed me to get Rocket League at last.
That may be my go to pre work game. Matches are really short and fun. Now I just have to figure out my timing so I don't constantly whif at the ball.

For shotgunning, I put the suits as follows
Gal > Min > Cal > Amarr
You want speed and damps. Gal can be fast, damped AND tough. Min can only be fast and damped. Cal is damped. Amarr is just tough and damped.

You missed the bit where Cal exceeds at passive scans. Very useful with a shotgun. Get at least one kincat on there, fantastic shield recharge, better toughness than min. I'm not really sure I agree with this reasoning.
Using an RR on, say, a Galassault is very much viable but it 'wastes' the plasma bonus. That doesn't really make the Calassault better.

Scanning means sh*t on scouts.
Nobody in PC damps excepts scouts and the rare logi.
Since only scouts damp, you really have no reason to run scans. You would have to be so close for them to effective. Not worth it when you can run HP and survive.
eWAR is dead except for Active Scanners and Dampening. It's kinda sad actually. Your Cal fit would be destroyed. You need both of those lows for damps, otherwise you will be permascanned and destroyed.
Min scout is a great shotgun suit. You just have to abuse your speed and shielding.
