Da **** are you doing with them? Some people race with them, so I wonder if that is taken into account. Others use riding lawnmowers on hills in a way they shouldn't, and end up getting it rolled on top of them, or something similar. What gets me is that there is supposedly a warning on some that they are not to be used as hedge trimmers. I don't know why that needs to be explained.
Can confirm, people try to cut on inclines they should not try to cut with a lawnmower. Year or 2 ago, my bro had to stop on the side of the road when he saw a lawn mower sitting over on its side. Him and another dude that stopped lifted the mower off this like 60+ year old dude. No clue how long he had been trapped under the thing.
Besides stuff like that I'd guess people trying to untangle stuff from the blades or unclogging grass stuck under it. Something gets too close to the blades and blood lots of blood.
Doubt that many of the deaths come from the racing.

Adipem Nothi wrote:Arkena Wyrnspire wrote:Secondly, and I suppose my defence of Kirk here is hardly likely to convince you I'm not just here because my friends are, since you insist on repeatedly bringing it up that quote of Kirk's is taken wildly, wildly out of context. The actual post in question is defending flux grenades. Why are you bashing on someone for defending the breach assault rifle and quoting posts completely unrelated to it? Kirk didn't help himself when he made what would otherwise be an entirely reasonable defence of himself when he explained his viewpoint on the breach AR (which, notably, was not in defence of the old breach AR and even advocated specific nerfs) rather than pointing out how absurdly out of context that post was, I suppose, but given you didn't even bother quoting the actual post but instead quoted someone else taking that post in dubious context you can hardly blame people for misunderstanding. Adipem Nothi wrote: Kirk picks a post-patch (and broken) Breach AR, notices he's wrecking face with it at minimal effort and concludes ... I'm really good at Dust. He looks around and notices that a high percentage of other mercs are also wrecking face with Breach ARs. Kirk proceeds to the Forums, sees that people are complaining about a Gallente gun, and begins to defend it tooth-and-nail. When it becomes clear that the Breach AR is not fine, he rallies with other Team Gallente All-Stars to assure us that everything is in fact fine because reasons.
So this is, in fact, a completely unfair and factually incorrect summary of a situation, misquoting a misquote. It does aggravate me to see such a zealous put-down of someone for reasons that are entirely unjustified, and in part yes, that is one of the reasons I felt the need to vent my disgust with some aspects of this thread. Above was a gentle characterization offered in response to your question why not Kirk?. Why not? Because he's biased, and he's blind to it. I was more than willing to leave it at that and move on. I didn't attack his character. I didn't dig up nasty examples of him behaving badly (and there are many). I didn't point out his long history of combative posting, fit throwing and perceived superiority over the community at large. I didn't mention that I think his personality is the polar opposite of what would make for an effective community representative. Instead, I opted for the gentle characterization. He's Gallente-biased; let's be nice and say something to that effect, I thought to myself. My intent wasn't to set a trap or start a fight; you asked a question about your friend, and I gave you as friendly a truthful response as I could come up with. I'm sorry that you found that disgusting, but what would you have preferred me do? A double-barreled blast of truth would've invited a poopstorm. Which we got anyway. (Response Complete!)
I admit I get pretty pissed when people attack me. I need to work on that. But that's what bothers me most. This entire time in the game I've wanted nothing but balance. I've been through it all. Even AR 514 which especially the damn TAC AR. I've been with this game for so long and I dont want anything to get in its way of progress. Yeah, I wasn't known too much in my early days but even then I wanted to Nerf Gallente ARs once upon a time. People don't understand RP is a part of the game and in the end its a game. But whatever, I'm not going to go on a long end point of discussing anything here. When you willingly choose to not correct the blatant lie of a misquote and judge of character here. Because its pretty obvious that was not the case. This isn't about whether you'd vote for me or not, this is about you attacking, and yes that was am attack on my character.
The only true point here that has been made is that I get too heated when people lie about my or assume things about me based on hearsay. I'll work on that.
I'm done with the barbershop, again. Not a single thing has changed.
As long as 5/6 (83%) of infantry AV weapons are Anti Armor based you're never going to achieve vehicle balance CCP

If I think you're right, or I think you might be right, I'll either give you a wide berth or give you my support. If I think you're wrong or off-point, I'll tell you why. If I think you're willfully trying to do harm or are intentionally being dishonest, calling in backup won't help you; only Frame's hammer will get me off your back. Honestly Adipem, I couldn't had said this any better.
I remember coming back to Dust after a long break, most of my friends no longer play this game. Yet I stumble across the barbershop. I read and read, not comment until I see that's theres a lot of people that was in my same shoes. Some had questions, some had ideas, others just wanted to be heard. The dust I was used to was the days of the mighty AR. I left during 1.3, came back a little before HF:Echo. The people in this thread all helped me, I didn't come off that friendly as first. Because when I first came back I still biased because I missed out on so much and was confused on what has changed. The people in this thread all helped me fill in the gaps. What has changed, added or removed. I remember Adipem trying to find balance within the scout class itself, even if it meant nerfing the Gal-Scout (arguably the best scout, or at least most versatile) so the other scouts would be balanced within their class. So for those to claim that we're closed off, or biased is completely untrue. Do we favor the scout class? Yes, do we want it to outperform everything? no, we just seek balance. I came in here as an outsider, asking questions, at times just saying stuff that didn't apply to the current version of dust. Yet now I'm part of the family here. We all state our points, we all have ideas that may improve gameplay. We're just a group of people that started off as outsiders, and we all welcome more to come. We don't kick anyone out, or yell at people to undermine them. But we also aren't push-overs |

What gets me is that there is supposedly a warning on some that they are not to be used as hedge trimmers. I don't know why that needs to be explained. As a person who worked with lawnmowers, and no not the regular ones. The Zero-turn lawn mowers(the ones you ride). Some accidents are user related. You're supposed to turn off the machine when you're checking the blades. A lot of times my blades would get stuck, and to save time I wouldn't turn off the mower and un-clog the machine. It isn't that safe, but the machine is supposed to have a safety built in. When you sit on the mower the machine will read it, and once you're off the seat the blades will stop running. Sometimes the safety wouldn't work, and honestly we all didn't turn off the machine, they're a ***** to restart due to poor maintenance that our mechanic guy did. Sometimes the machine could flip over or turn rapidly. i had a few close calls on a zero-turn, and the ones I would operate is the 60 inch deck one.
But honestly most of the deaths are probably due to people not following instructions. |

They're just people, I imagine some of them can be just as prone to knee-jerking and telling people to ****-off as I am, the more level heads in the group seem to at least try to rationally discuss things. If I ever make the 'vehicle' thread it's going to have a flowchart to rational debate and the tiers of arguments in the first damn post.
2) Derogatory labels on weapons are neither here nor their for me, but I do believe they serve a point in highlighting which weapons are absolutely terribly balanced and which aren't.
3) Never forgetting isn't necessarily a bad thing. Never forgiving on the other hand is absolutely atrocious. That said most of what the barbershop seems to do is the former and not the latter, informing people of the biases, interactions and terrible, terrible ideas of others when presented with an agenda is a good thing, it can be a tool of scrutiny. More people should have their ideas subject to rigorous critical thought.
re: 2) Mina
The problem with this is it is subjective. If I add the label, it's my opinion of OP- / UP-ness. It's not a factual statistic posted from CCP that would lend more credence to an argument for change. Someone else sees that, and it's my bias (read: my opinion) coming through. It doesn't always make sense to do that when you want people to process what you want to say on pure merit alone.
People see bias, they start picking the argument apart instead of assessing it for it's merits. Better to leave the subtly subjective opinion in the form of hyperbole out, and make the statement in full at the beginning or end (e.g. "I believe the flaylock is OP and here's why"). Once you've made that statement, no need for the extra words that have an adverse psychological effect. |

Is it because the lawns are generally bigger so the machines more complex? Put it this way: only lawnmowers I've ever used (and I don't even use one now coz no garden) did not have seats...
