As a Gal Logi, why would I use an Adv scanner (getting me 27dB) and perhaps let some people dodge my scans when I can use a proto scanner (21db) and pick up EVERYONE? The difference between the two is only ISK and 8 CPU, which will really be 6 CPU considering the equipment fitting bonus. Also, longer scans from the Duvolle Quantum mean less time spent scanning (i.e. vulnerable) and more time with my gun out.
Mark me; if equipment stays the same and these changes go into effect, you can guarantee that stealth tanking will be dead if a Gal Logi is scanning on the other side. Everyone will run high HP suits and everyone will be perma-scanned. Lower HP ADV suits won't have an edge by way of the element of surprise anymore, so things will turn into a high HP slugfest where whichever side pulls the most proto first, wins. Kind of like ambush games against Nyain San. |

Edit: Actually it should be 10% to range and 5% to scan duration, per level. that's just gamebreaking No, it isn't. Nearly everyone uses the Quantum scanners anyway, so that's an extra 50m and 4sec on the Advanced, and 6.25sec on the Duvolle Quantum. If you used the Credron Flux Scanner, you'd get an extra 100m and have a slight edge in dropping OBs. Due to its long cooldown time, it isn't good for much else. The point being, at least you could still hide from these scanners by using two complex dampeners. It's more balanced to have one side with longer range/longer duration scanners and still be able to hide from them, than to give them longer duration scanners with such a high precision that you can't hide from them no matter what you do.
Yeah, what but what about the 2-3 guys standing next you or me who lights up like a Christmas tree because they aren't dampened or can't get under the threshold in the first place, I'd doubt the OB dropped on top of us is not going to kill me simply because I'm dampened.
You're forgetting the range is a radius, and everyone who uses a scanner spins around like a cracked out ballerina every time they scan. So it's an extra 100m and 200m of scan range, how many letters could you scan simultaneously? Would the enemy team even be able to approach if they weren't already being hunted down? |

When I don't, it's usually because I'm doing something stupid or get stuck on the terrain. Enemy groups that include a heavy, though, is a whole different kettle of fish. BTW: I run an advanced level scout suit with just over 300 HP and advanced ScR. I tank - if having 1 complex module of each counts as tanking - speed, scan range and shields (can't use my second high slot due to insufficient CPU and PG). Why do I even waste my breath. Okay, give the 5% to range and the 10% to duration, if that's what you want. I don't particularly see a problem in buffing range, simply because outside of orbitals and sniping, most engagements will happen within 100m anyway, at which point scanners from both teams would be just as effective range-wise.
The main issue I have is in buffing the scan precision. This would be a huge mistake. We should have the option of being able to dodge scans by sacrificing some HP by using 2 complex dampeners. This option shouldn't be taken away just because a super-scanning Gal Logi is on the other side.
Before anyone brings up the Duvolle Focused Scanner, let me reiterate that this scanner is a POS due to its long scan time (5 sec where you can't use your weapon), short light up time (5 sec after your scan ends), and long cooldown time (33 seconds between consecutive scans). Those are its drawbacks. A 21dB scanner with a 2 sec scan time, 31 seconds of light up, and 17 sec between consecutive scans would be ridiculously OP. It's a scanner that only proto scouts can hide from (with 2 complex dampeners) and everyone else is perma-scanned. |

You can't perma-scan everyone. It's possible for medium frames and easy for scouts to dodge 28dB scans, and perma-scanning with the Duvolle Focused requires three to four people in your squad using this scanner and coordinating their scans.
If this buff goes through, for all intents and purposes, no one will be able to hide from your 28dB (now 21dB) proto, spammable scanners. This will make a big difference in gameplay.

More damage, faster reloads, weapon resistances, explosive resistances.... Keep this up and in another year we are going to end with suits with over 2k ehp, that will still die in 1 second against weapons with a +25-40% damage (modules+bonus+proficiency). New players are going to get so destroyed. Oh wait, they are destroyed right now. Now that I think about it, they probably wont notice any difference between dying in 0.5 seconds or 0.25. Considering that the Sentinel bonus(es) aren't per level and seem to be static (subject to change) it might be privy for new players start out with the Sentinel and work their way outward from there. Looks like a pretty nice selection for a new player, actually, with more base HP and less focus on fitting selection.
I had not notice it, but It's true that it doesn't say anywhere in the description if the Sentinel Bonus is per level or not. Thanks for pointing that out.
The only thing I can say, is that if it is not level depending, it will be a pretty useless bonus, about 40 hp extra hp for a 1500 hp sentinel, although better than the current one. However, chances are that the suit bonus is per level, like all the others.
I am waiting to see if they have changed suit stats also, or if they have embarked on the slippery slope of power creep.

No, to have the 'heavy experience' (level III in amarr heavy dropsuits and HMG/FG) you only need to spend about 1.5 mill SP. That is really not all that much. You could spend another 3 mill to spec all those things into proto. Considering that a lot of people playing for that long have 20+ million SP, 2.7 million in a heavy suit you didn't ultimately want and a couple million more in other heavy weapons wouldn't be that terrible of an investment, IMO.
In an ideal world, yes, it would have been nice to get all the heavies at once. I'm not sure what stopped CCP, but I don't imagine that it was some evil corporate business plan. I think they wanted infantry balance to work out nicely. If we would have had all the heavies at the beginning of uprising/end of chromosome, you would probably have seen 50% of people as heavies making this a totally different game.
Now with a resurgence of need of AV, I'm thinking that heavies will help tip that balance back toward infantry, along with making a little higher TTK for some players, and lower for others (assaults/logis sorry ) |

Very interesting, double-specific resistance bonuses on the Sentinel suits. I like it. Does "blast damage" mean just explosives, or does it include all splash damage?
I just went from not wanting to skill into either Commando or Sentinel to wanting to skill into both, along with the respective light weapons. Gallente Commando with a Plasma Cannon and an Assault Rifle would be so fun and so very dangerous. Minmatar Commando with Combat Rifle and Mass Driver could also be great. On the other hand, I'm not sure there's enough of a difference between the Laser Rifle and the Scrambler Rifle to get good results from the Amarr, and the Sniper Rifle and Rail Rifle don't serve complementary roles at all. I hope there are more interesting light weapons in the works.
