On another note, the Gallente Heavy is looking pretty. 2000HP here i come. 8 complex plates FTW yo. (saves 2.4mil SP for the heavy)

You're forgetting the range is a radius, and everyone who uses a scanner spins around like a cracked out ballerina every time they scan. So it's an extra 100m and 200m of scan range, how many letters could you scan simultaneously? Would the enemy team even be able to approach if they weren't already being hunted down?
Okay, give the 5% to range and the 10% to duration, if that's what you want. I don't particularly see a problem in buffing range, simply because outside of orbitals and sniping, most engagements will happen within 100m anyway, at which point scanners from both teams would be just as effective range-wise. The main issue I have is in buffing the scan precision. This would be a huge mistake. We should have the option of being able to dodge scans by sacrificing some HP by using 2 complex dampeners. This option shouldn't be taken away just because a super-scanning Gal Logi is on the other side. Before anyone brings up the Duvolle Focused Scanner, let me reiterate that this scanner is a POS due to its long scan time (5 sec where you can't use your weapon), short light up time (5 sec after your scan ends), and long cooldown time (33 seconds between consecutive scans). Those are its drawbacks. A 21dB scanner with a 2 sec scan time, 31 seconds of light up, and 17 sec between consecutive scans would be ridiculously OP. It's a scanner that only proto scouts can hide from (with 2 complex dampeners) and everyone else is perma-scanned.
I've advocated scanners and dampeners since the tactnet change, but this change will flip even me. Every suit if mine has at least 1 complex dampener and I have a set of 2. I sacrifice HP for invisibility and am successful most of the time for it. This will COMPLETLY break that, unless the stats for the scanner itself is changed to where it needs a full proto GalLogi with a proto scanner to hit 28 db, which I think would be acceptable to keep damp tanking viable.

Beat me to it! People always forget the stacking penalties, on damage mods in particular.

Also: before everyone freaks out about the equipment, it's a pretty good bet that the CPU/PG of the logi suits will be reduced in order to limit their near-limitless flexibility right now. If done properly (yes, I know... CCP) you should still be able to fit a kick-ass support suit, but not be able to go full-on killer bee.

You shouldn't get a refund for skill points you've used that are still relevant and applicable in the current game. I have to disagree in this particular instance. Heavy suit skills should be refunded when racial heavies come out, so that people who have been playing a particular role rather than a particular race have a chance to skill into the appropriate race for that role. Same with light suit skills.
Racial weapons are a different story--since they are functionally different, a player is more likely to use current weapon skills on a new suit. Racial suits are not functionally different; most people are unlikely to skill into more than one race for the same class of suit.

for the single shot weapon like Scrambler rifle, it does not need a bonus of rate of fire very much. most of the cases you won't (maybe even can't) fire at its maximum rate of fire.
also the amarr assault dropsuit lose its heat reduction to laser weaponry bonus I hope there will be some changes on either the laser weapon of the skill of weapon to compensate this |

I was thinking that, but that would mean proto scanners in the hands of non-Gal Logis would have something like 37dB. Way too easy to get under.
Instead of use one dampener if they have advanced scans, or two dampeners if they have proto scans, it'll be use one dampener if there are no Gal Logis, and two dampeners if there is one. It's a definite nerf to scanners on anyone except the Gal Logi, and the team/squad with the Gal Logi will always have an unfair advantage scanning wise.
I think that the current balance in scan profiles/scanning is pretty good right now. The only change I would make is to reduce scout base profile from 45dB to 40dB, which would allow them to dodge 28dB proto scans from the passive proto profile dampening skills alone. |

As much crying as there are against scanners, this wouldn't really be a bad thing. People with no dampeners, or skills in dampening would still light up for anyone equipping one, and damp tankers would stay invisible even to the most skilled pingers. It would reduce the scan span, yet still give a specific race/roll a clear advantage to intel. There is hope. Let's just say if they don't change the scanner it be a fustercluck.

I do hope these changes will warrant a re-spec of Our dropsuit skills.
As far as I've been told from EVE players, Caldari is supposed to be best race for E-war and the scanning bonus goes to Galente...
Edit:
If Caldari and Gallente switched bonuses and Amarr and Minmatar did the same, wouldn't that make more sense gameplay wise and perhaps even lore wise?
Anyways, too bad the awesome hack bonus dissapears, perhaps it'll get allocated to a scout suit??? Well the scanner is of Gallente design so I think CCP is sticking with the racial bonuses to racial equipment mentality. I agree that that is probably the rationale.
But the scanning bonus is asymmetrical with the other bonuses. Minmatar, Amarr and Caldari logis are getting bonuses to material effects, while Gallente logis are getting bonuses to information acquisition effects. The scanning bonus is global over an area, the material bonuses are local.
The scanning bonus is far more powerful on the battlefield than the other bonuses. I have the impression these bonuses were crafted by looking at the expected WP income for the individual Logi, as opposed to the way the respective Logis leverage their team.
I support SP rollover.

On another note, the Gallente Heavy is looking pretty. It's not the numbers that are the main issue, it's the bonuses themselves. Now assuming these are the bonuses you plan to implement, which sadly seems entirely likely. Did you not even look at them at all in the context of what already exists in the game, what the suits these bonuses apply to actually are like? For instance, the gallente logi bonus is insane, and if you can't see that, I wonder what game you have been playing these last months, because it certainly isn't dust.
I have never supported any QQing for respecs, but I can't help but think this is a slightly different scenario. Just setting aside the heavies who are finally getting alternatives to the one race they have so far been able to spec into, you are completely changing the roles of some suits. Minmatar logi going from having a hack bonus (which, in addition to other aspects of the suit, encourages speccing into things like biotics, dampening and hacking) to a bonus to rep tool use? Surely you can see, for instance, how someone fairly low on SP who has been speccing into very specific skill to specialize into a speedhacker to compliment their suit of choice will be left with a bunch of mainly useless skills in relation to the role CCP has suddenly decided their choice in suit should entail, on top of now suddenly needing to spec into a new list of skills that were before irrelevant to make the best of that suit... How discouraged someone in that situation would be? When even someone with as much SP as I have am feeling disgusted by how some of my choices, made with all the information we had available at the time, will now suddenly feel like complete waste?
And, no, I'm not saying there aren't plenty of minlogis running around using reptools contantly, I know there are, I used to be one of them (and I do dabble every now and then), but I came to the realization that if I wanted to be that logi, the gallente suit would have been more suited, and the other playstyles that the minmatar logi opened up for me were more interesting and challenging to me anyway. And one by one, changes to the game in the last months have made each of the different aspects that made me love the minlogi suit and the various support skills and weapons I specced into, that made the suit and the game so enjoyable to me, have been slowly whittled away to next to nothing. Speed has become mainly irrelevant, 2 of the weapons I have at proto level are useless now, the new gal logi bonus will make the use of dampening pretty much pointless and now my lovely speedhacking suit will be irrelevant.
I'm not going to make some pointless proclamation about how this will make me quit playing Dust, not like anyone cares anyway, and it won't. But I've been playing less and less recently, simply because I've been enjoying the game less and less recently. And I could give a long and very detailed list of the reasons, all choices made by the game devs, that have made me enjoy the game less, but that is not the point of this post.
tl;dr: Can we have a respec of the dropsuit command skill tree, please, once these changes go live?
Have you considered installing the improved keyboard?

I dunno. Drop uplinks as you advance, and defend those uplinks, or use a LAV (read TANK in 1.7) and deploy as many as you can. I think Amarr logis with proto uplinks will now get all the points from spawns, since their basic uplinks will now be proto speeds (5 sec), and their proto uplinks will be insane speeds (2-2.5 sec). |
