Now that I've seen the Caldari Scout's dropsuit description, I'm not really seeing how the cal scout bonus is going to be useful.
If you are already cloaked, wouldn't you start shooting them while they were facing away from you? Unless TTK goes up by a fair amount, the extra time cloaked while shooting isn't going to do much good.

I just read it as - Caldari scout can stay cloaked for longer while performing actions such as running, shooting or what have you. Right now its all speculations as we have no idea how it will all be implemented. |

I'm not certain it works that way. I'm fairly certain we get WP for amount of damaged fix, not duration. I could be wrong and would like confirmation, but if I'm right it just means my screen will spam +25s.

That's a lot of damage, but take a look at the module slots and base stats of the minmatar assault. With multiple damage mods it's not going to have any defense and even as it is right now it's one of the most useless suits in the game because you just can't survive in it no matter how it's fitted. Of course we can't see if the suits are getting module slot changes or changes to base stats, so we'll see. |

Sounds to me like the "firing cost" is referring to weapons fire
As in there is some sort of penalty for firing a weapon while cloaked (cloak time drains faster?) and the caldari bonus is mitigating that penalty (shoot more bullets before disrupting cloak)

Everyone seems confused by the Caldari scout bonus when it seems pretty obvious how cloak will work and how that bonus will be useful with it. I could be wrong but here's my take: GÇóCloaks are equipment. GÇóYou activate the cloak and a meter drains, possibly draining with time cloaked, and from some counter based around shots you fire, most definitely the latter at least, but possibly both. GÇóCloak regenerates.
Now given the Caldari bonus, they assumedly can fire more shots without losing their cloak. This mechanic would be most useful if cloak drain depends only on firing, as a Caldari scout sniper could potentially remain cloaked indefinitely if one shot doesn't disrupt cloak fully. Very useful to stay hidden from great distance but will likely have very limited low slots and will be easy to find if you're close enough to scan.
Under this system Amarr would be suited to running around cloaked, firing to just under the cloak-break threshold and waiting for their rapid cloak recharge (and laser weapon cool down) to complete before firing again. Could be useful given Amarr weapons being particularly based around a very fine 'scale' if you will of damage they fire (you choose a steady stream of fire or a burst damage of varying charge)
Minmatar scouts could be useful if nova knives and melee have a smaller diminishing effect on cloak, could feasibly remain cloaked while attacking in close range for extended periods, albeit with limited effectiveness given the use of nova knives.
Gallente scouts are suited to shotgun or their racial AR combat with their massive passive scans while evading the scans that will likely be the bane of every other scout, but will have to rely on actual evasion more than their cloaks given these weapons are likely candidates for high cloak drain.
To me, if this is indeed similar to the way these changes will actually play out, this could be a great change if one important thing happens; a second eq slot for scouts. For a minimal sacrifice of suit resources you would hopefully be able to effectively add cloaks to your current fit. Scouts don't need to shift to cloaked combat as a new role, they need cloaks to compete in their current role. This being said, I worry cloaked logia will be all-too effective, but that remains to be seen. |

Yeh, I've thought about it and I've done the math... Hell I've experienced it. Not only do I have a character with proto min logi and pro focused repair tools, but I have a proto heavy with proto HMGs. Believe me, you're wrong in assuming it's "godmode."
Your HP/sec is much less than a fourth of what a heavy can deal now without head shots and without stacking damage mods, which we know is going to happen with Cal and Min heavies. It takes less than 2 seconds to kill a heavy with a proto HMG. Since you can't help a heavy until it gets into shields and even if it was a gallente heavy you'll be lucky to give that heavy an extra one third of a second in battle against another heavy. Since they improved TTK the rep logi really only benefits a player under very light fire and when they are under no fire at all. It is used to prepare the enemy for the next engagement, which makes saving a small fraction of a second with it's increased range and amount almost completely worthless. If you're using a rep tool you might as well use it on a gal logi because the scans will make sure that you or that heavy don't lose that second or two it takes to die or lose an objective. |

cant help but think that balancing the suits and their skills for the heavy would work better with the 4 resistances that the ships of eve get to shields and armor. that way at least damage can be more efined and calculated better and the heavies could just get the 4% per level to armor or shield resistances per level like the Rokh and Abaddon ships and the weapons could also receive similar damage profiles too so lasers get EM/therm damage, hybrids do KIN/Therm, projectiles do EXP/kin/therm ect. i mentioned this a while ago and tbh i think with the resistances plus individual resistance plates for suits similar to what we have on eve too it offers up a nice tactical option as well. if you know a corp in pc spams nades you can have a setup with explosive plates and use shields. if they use lasers then bring out your gallente with em/therm plates

ick. My friends who tried Planetside 2 said it was completely pay-to-win, it never felt like you accomplish anything that isn't just undone later, and it was no fun at all compared to the original Planetside.

I'm guessing they'll be released when the remaining vehicles are released. I wish we had a schedule for those. I was very disappointed they didn't come with the vehicle rebalance.

Caldari recovery got nerfed in the last patch to where my proto suit needs the complex regulator or armor plates to be usable and now I'm losing the recharge. Shields are almost as bad as armor recovery now and they have less HP. Meanwhile gallente armor is getting buffed. Can't wait for 600+ armor for gallante suits to be common.
They also took away the laser advantage for Amarr, indirectly nerfing ScR and lasers.
And making Mimnatar do more damage is a bad idea. Given, I also thought the sidearm bonus was dumb.

I like the bonuses, especially the gallente ones (as a Gallente player). I also like what I see with the other suits. Dat Minmatar Assault...
But I don't see why the gun bonuses on ie. the assault suits, aren't geared towards the racial weapons.
Gallente and Caldari should have to hybrid weapons, minmatar to projectile and amarr to lasers.
It adds to the versatility in what weapons you choose to use I suppose, but it doesn|t seem very EVE Universey. |
