It's barely going to do anything. What's the max you can get it up to? My understanding is it's 1% a level. From what I understand max is 5% Most seem to be looking at the cal commando because it already has a nice dmg bonus. I'm sure the Min scouts are going to like the bonus as well to go with the 25% bonus they already have not including dmg mods. Now put that against a noob in pubs and that is where the problem is. As if proto stomping is not bad enough now they will have 5% more dmg. It seems like nothing to vets but to a noob it is a different story.

Well it's a funny story that...
When I initially applied for the job I got the standard cut and past rejection letter reply. A couple of hours later I got another email and phone call apologising and asking if I still wanted to do the interview. I said sure and a few days later did a phone interview. Then they flew me out for the in person interview at their expense. Then about a week later got a phone call saying sorry but they went with somebody else. Fair enough... that was all back in late November. Cut to yesterday and I just got an email asking if I was still interested in the job.
So... Do I take the job I've already been rejected twice for? Haha.
Note: The problem is it's very far away and remote... it's on a small island off the northern coast of Australia. Away from my girlfriend with whom I just recently had a 10 year anniversary. To put it in perspective, most of you can probably only name one Australian city, Sydney. It's so far from Sydney that in a straight line I'd actually be closer to the Philippines (which I might note is in a different hemisphere). Though apparently they have ADSL2+ internet out there, but I'm not sure how stable the connection is. Either way, if I decide to take the job either you'll be seeing a lot more of me (nothing else to do out there) or none of me at all. Big decision. I guess it depends on the details, how long you would be staying there, how big the job is, etc, but personally I wouldn't do it. Doesn't seem worth the big change. That and, meaning no disrespect to you and your girlfriend of course, long distance relationships are a lot harder than most people think. I've seen some pretty strong, long-term relationships fail because one lived apart from the other for a while, even if they were only an hour long drive away. Everybody's different though, so shrugs

It's barely going to do anything. Not sure if rage is justified but a 5% damage increase would be like moving from a STD to ADV, or from a ADV to PRO weapon.
Though looking at the screenshot in the dev blog it says a lvl 5 barge only has a 1% damage increase, so I'd guess getting to 5% damage increase will take a lot of grinding/AUR.
But still, it is a factor that makes it harder for new players by giving veterans yet another straight up stats advantage. Only this time it won't even cost you more ISK if you lose your suit.
I just don't like the concept of increased stats for veteran players. The gear progression in Dust serves no other purpose but to separate the noobs from the vets. In high level engagements everyone uses the best gear anyway, and vets bringing superior gear to fight noobs in pubs only generates frustration.
I'd rather see sidegrades and specialization than straight up stat increases. But I guess at this stage in Dust's lifecycle there is little chance for a change of mind.

Bear in mind I've just moved back in with the girlfriend after living apart for a year and a half. That's why I took up playing Dust, living in a different small town.
And the pay for this job is a lot. Like hilariously a lot. Like do the job for 3 years and then just go buy a house with cash kind of good. And it shouldn't be too hard a job.
But I have other jobs to consider, and other factors, I've also been considering a change of career.

I'm an Ecologist (I'm pretty sure we've discussed this before but I don't expect people to remember ). For most of my career I've been working as an Environmental Advisor/Consultant. A lot of it to do with mining and industrial industries. EPA type work, though I've never actually worked for the EPA.
There's a mine out on the island, I'd be monitoring and advising on their activities as well as other local environmental issues in the region. It'd be my first government job actually, I'm usually working for or with the mining companies themselves.
I'd jump on and play with the new update now but DT is 9pm my time and I have to get early for an interview for a different job that is completely different and crazy awesome, but pays bugger all. So yeah, if I get offered that one I'll be really torn on which way to go.

About the warbarges: do they require aurum to do anything with them? Or are skill points being used for stuff? I may just end up floating through space.

You get 300 Warbarge Components per day, and there's a 1 hour cooldown after each upgrade which can be skipped for 105 Warbarge Components.
However, you can get 300 Warbarge Components for only 3 AUR.

Looks like they've wired a "harvest" mechanism. Clever! Warbarges generate daily widgets. Daily widgets must be manually claimed. We should see an increase in Daily Logins, if for no other reason than to claim the valuable Warbarge Components produced by Mobile Factory.
Note: Reinvesting components in Mobile Factory increases the daily yield of Components. By alot. Probably a good idea to level this subsystem.
