lolwhut? Stop peddling your bandwagon like a religion.
Chuck Norris doesn't go on strike because striking implies the desire to continue. Chuck Norris plays something else instead.

There are lots of issues -- from NPE to Endgame -- which could (and arguably should) be squared away prior to port. Previous gen or not, people play what games they want to play, and I remain of the opinion that DUST could be thriving on PS3. Being moved to PC or PS4 would likely help with performance and make room for content, but it won't magically solve all of DUST's other problems. Things that could / should be fixed or improved upon prior to port (off the top of my head):
* NPE * EWAR * War Barges * Pub Quality * Pay Mechanics * PC Design * Interclass Balance
To reach its fullest potential, "New DUST" will have to address and resolve these (and other) standing issues. I say we help the Devs resolve them here on PS3 rather than "kick the can down the road". Fixing problems prior to port, in my opinion, increases the odds of post-port success.

To be fair, they aren't under any obligation to share future plans with us. They tried that once. Didn't go well. The reason it didn't go well was that there was general misunderstanding about what would happen to our characters and progress.
That could have been avoided if CCP had been 100% clear and honest about their intentions from the beginning.

Ahh I see. Great point too!
The phrase that springs to (my) mind is "you can polish a turd, but it's still a turd". Would that also be a way to describe your viewpoint, albeit far more crass?

I think, however, that development would be better on the PC simply because of the freedom it would allow.
The partnership with Sony results in limited updates, that must be OK'd well in advance. On PC, Dust could be updated as frequently as fixes and changes get finished, if that is what they wanted.
Also, there is no possibility on PS for test servers, and allowing a group of players to test things out beforehand. As I understand it, on PC they would have the freedom of testing out new ideas and builds, which would be beneficial because of all the times we can only guess as to the possible outcomes. Not only would it allow for testing a greater number of ideas, but it would allow us to address imbalances before any patches were released.
And with the PS4 being so much closer to a PC than the PS3, I could see a symbiotic relationship between communities if it was pulled off correctly. But perhaps that is just my idealism, optimism, and ignorance showing.

I would agree entirely, but I'm not sure that DUST in its current form would necessarily be very similar post-port.
I certainly do agree, though, that attempting to resolve these problems is of far more use than demanding a boycott of DUST.

I'm taking a brief break from my spreadsheeting because it's a substantial undertaking that I'm increasingly doubtful will be adopted (it's a massive set of changes).
So I'd like to talk about these a little bit.
Aside from STD-PRO differences, what can be done to improve NPE?
What are the present issues with warbarges, and what can be done to improve them?
I've long campaigned for pay mechanics, but are there any specific proposals that people have been thinking of?
RE: Interclass balance - I'm of the opinion that the tinfoil hats are on too tight in here regarding 'anti-scout CPM bias' or suchlike. I think the lot of us are too firmly entrenched in our respective opinions at this point, so personally I'm not going to get involved in a discussion over these particular points as I don't believe it'll achieve anything productive.
As for the rest, though, I'd very much like to talk about what can be done.
Also: In the event of a port, do you think it is likely to be a drastic departure from existing systems?
