I'm glad to see my concerns are already heavily represented in this thread.
My only suit is the minmatar logi and I have level 5 into all equipment, which I use excessively, except for one, which is the repair tool. The minmatar logi is the weakest of the medium suits, but the fastest logi, and it's tethered to a slow heavy by design? If we changed our strategy to only use it when people weren't under fire then there would be no point to the bonuses because an extra second or two really makes no difference when you're not under fire, not to mention all the things you can't do if you're repping while under fire.
One of the negative effects of the Focused scanner was that it didn't overlap scans, so there was a gap of protection and just one more reason to avoid using it. This might allow a gal logi to overlap scans with the focused scanner or at least reduce the gap to an acceptable level, reduce the high requirements, and increase it's effectiveness meaning that a gal logi could see anything at all times regardless of what the enemy does. I would imagine that people would need gallente logis over any other logi for this reason and no one will use profile dampeners and stealth will be gone completely. As it is the gallente logi is already the most beastly based on the state of armor and shields, so there's little reason for people to not favor it as the FOTM logi, which it might be already tbh.
If there is a respec I'd probably have to go gallente to win games, but then that will be over nerfed and I'll have to cross spec into the next FOTM logi suit... kinda frustrating when you can't stick to one thing because it's how you like to play. |

They were just concerns. I won't be actually frustrated unless I can actually see the result.
I think it was great to replace the 5hp/sec bonus and I think this brings them in a good direction. The regen was the main reason why people were using logis as an assault and most of the people I knew who were using them as assault logis used enhanced gear. The cpu/pg bonus simply means to me that people will be better off using better equipment and the defense bonus disappears and becomes difficult to replace. So, for the most part, it's a great direction.
Also, something that I find interesting is that I'm a real life combat medic and I never understood why people had such a resentment to the logi being used as a slayer. Front line medics have to be trained to fight. In-game I've always envied an assault player's speed and sidearm, since it killed me several times when we'd both run out of ammo, so in many ways it is not equal without the defense bonus that logis currently get. Assault players can use equipment, as well, which makes sense. For example, next month I have to teach hundreds of soldiers who aren't medics about combat life saver techniques. They should all know how to use about 70%+ of the medical supplies in my aid bag. The point is that you won't see me sniping or using rocket launchers either in real life or in the game, but you can't take my AR from me if I'm going where I'm going to get shot at. |

Just remember to have patience, and keep your magic crystal ball close by at all times. These numbjavascript:insertsmiley(' ','/Images/Emoticons/ccp_smile.png')ers are not necessarily final. On another note, the Gallente Heavy is looking pretty. Please do not get rid of the hacking bonus. That was the single most redeeming feature of the Minmtar Logi. Whats the point in adding range of a rep tool if i have to keep within a few meters of my target (turning corners, tight spaces) anyway? The hacking bonus belongs on a scout suit. The repper bonus is actually really great. You should be getting a respec so you could always go in a different direction. I didnt merely spec into Minni Logi just for the hacking bonus, but it made it the best all around suit, and more usef in PC. I cant begin to tell you how many matches speed hacking turned the tide. Scouts get their cloak anyway, why should they get my hacking bonus as well? The rep tool bonus is crap because even proto'd out it would only rep enough extra hp for half a round from a rail rifle. That amount is meaningless with the astronmical damage done to each other in PC. I've been playing since open beta, and seen tons of QQ about all of the different rcial bonuses except for the Minmatar. Now CCP (or the CPM) wats to fix something that aint broken. Leave my bonus alone. I'm pretty sure the cloaks won't be restricted to scouts only (although they will have a much easier time fitting them). Scouts are designed to quickly sneak behind enemy lines and make trouble, the hacking bonus is a natural fit for them (well one of them). As for the repping bonus, the biggest benefit is the increased range, which should allow the Min logi the ability to more easily stay behind cover while repping. That role nicely complements the Minmatar's speed.
What people still don't seem to get is that "behind cover" means you can't rep them. If your team mate enters a room you're either going to enter with him or lose the link, which to be honest you'll be repping so much slower than you can kill the enemy if you're going to be within line of sight anyway. |

NewOldMan wrote:That gallente logi bonus sucks. Active scanners may be a usefull equipment. But it pales in comparison to the other suits in how frequent their bonuses are utilized.
In competitive games such as PCs it's a battle of sensors for scouts and stealthy medium suits and a HMG squad mate will need a logi with a scanner more than it needs ammo or reps because he can't see anything at all without it with their low sensors. I have 11 variations of my proto min logi. Some have armor and damage mods, some have shields and profile dampeners, some have duel tank, and some have speed mods. Their modules are changed for all the suits to perform different functions specifically for PC. EVERY single one of those suits have a scanner. Most have drop uplinks. Only 1 has a repair tool. |

All Assault get +2% to light weapon RoF bonus per level.
Caldari Assault: +5% to HP bonus of shield extender modules per level.
Gallente Assault: +5% to HP bonus of armor plate modules per level.
Minmatar Assault: +5% to damage bonus of damage modifier modules per level.
Amarr Assault: +5% to repair rate of armor repair modules per level. Stats you were all slow on pulling from Sisi! I'm disappointed in all of you. The Minmatar Assault with a militia damage mod would be nearly as good as one with a complex damage mod then. The way i'm reading it it's a bonus to the bonus so a maxxed Minny Assault running one militia damage mod would ge a 3%x1.25=3.75% total damage boost. A complex damage mod would give a Minny Assault a total of +12.5% to damage, compared to the 10% everybody else gets. EDIT: Just saw your post, Demonkiller. Apologies for the reproduction.
That's a lot of damage, but take a look at the module slots and base stats of the minmatar assault. With multiple damage mods it's not going to have any defense and even as it is right now it's one of the most useless suits in the game because you just can't survive in it no matter how it's fitted. Of course we can't see if the suits are getting module slot changes or changes to base stats, so we'll see. |

Orion Sanjeet wrote:Holy **** I love the new minmatar logi bonus, I will be specing into it immediately. Think about it, a core focused repair tool with a FIFTEEN METER RANGE AND REP REPAIRS TWO HUNDRED AND EIGHTEEN ARMOR PER SECOND. Me behind a gallente heavy with his resistance to the most common forms of firearms, that means you better kill me because he will be godmode.
Yeh, I've thought about it and I've done the math... Hell I've experienced it. Not only do I have a character with proto min logi and pro focused repair tools, but I have a proto heavy with proto HMGs. Believe me, you're wrong in assuming it's "godmode."
Your HP/sec is much less than a fourth of what a heavy can deal now without head shots and without stacking damage mods, which we know is going to happen with Cal and Min heavies. It takes less than 2 seconds to kill a heavy with a proto HMG. Since you can't help a heavy until it gets into shields and even if it was a gallente heavy you'll be lucky to give that heavy an extra one third of a second in battle against another heavy. Since they improved TTK the rep logi really only benefits a player under very light fire and when they are under no fire at all. It is used to prepare the enemy for the next engagement, which makes saving a small fraction of a second with it's increased range and amount almost completely worthless. If you're using a rep tool you might as well use it on a gal logi because the scans will make sure that you or that heavy don't lose that second or two it takes to die or lose an objective. |

They have more slots, but it doesn't make them better. The base stats of the assault compensate for the missing slots, similar to why the assault doesn't make a good heavy just because it has more slots than a heavy. If you use those logi slots to make the logi faster then the assault will have more HP by far. If you fit a logi to have more HP then the assault will be a hell of a lot faster, and so on. The assault is overall better and has a sidearm.
I think the 5hp/sec was the main reason. Although it really started with the Cal logi back in the days when shields were overpowered. |

BLACK MASK D wrote:shouldnt the gallente have the amour repair and the amarr have the 5% buff? or am i the only one who thinks that? its like adding shield regen on the gallente all over again
Actually, this seems consistent with the differences between Amarr and Gallente as it relates to Dust 514, just not with EVE Online. It kinda makes sense to me that the factions might develop different styles on the ground as appose to the skies. It's like the Amarr tank... what Amarr ship was ever designed as a 50/50 duel tank HP? Amarr disregard shields entirely, if fact, in EVE. Again, just a difference between their ground and sky tactics.
By the way, thanks Aeon for the effort in posting this, lol. Not sure if it was ever said. I fought in a PC against Egypt and Roofer in a PC, shared some GG mails and it took me back to the good times of ANON. |
