I'd like to know how Breakin is defining "role" here. It seems specific, but it may not match up with others concept of "role" and therefore muddy the waters a little. This can actually be good for gathering info though. People will share their ideas based on their concept of roles and possible give fresh ideas and perspective.
How I see roles in Dust
Most of us play a number of roles on the battlefield every time we play a match. It's not static on the battlefield and we adapt our own roles to those shifting needs.
Roles are not easily defined, any suit can be AV, Slayer, Recon/Counter Recon, Sniper, Hacker, Point DefenceGǪ some suits just have strengths that make a role easier.
Each suit has strengths and how we use those strength to create roles is important. If the all the strengths of a suit our outmatched everywhere else then it becomes harder to perform. Sometimes strengths are countered in the design of a suitGǪ as is the case of the Amarr Scout. Precision is a great strength that can build into multiple roles, however Cloak (The scout bonus) nullifies this strength. For the Gal/Cal scout it has synergy with Damp bonus, making it easier to adapt roles around their strengths. Range limitations on modules also Inhibit the strength of the Amarr scout, it does not need ridiculous range, but the current range falls short of helping to build on roles. Stamina is a great bonus, though many don't think so. part of the reason for this is Stamina is limited by game mechanics. Jumping and Melee take percentage of stamina away, meaning higher stamina is not as beneficial as it would seem. It comes down to being able to run farther, which I think is why people lean towards putting a blanket Biotic bonus.
The Amarr scout has an extremely adaptive set up, slots and base health are beneficial to building roles for yourself, and I've had lots of success doing so. If the strengths of the suit were not countered in design of suit and module it would be a truly fierce suit to use.

You are incorrect, the sacrifice of orphans alone is ineffective, as you can see by the AMscout still sucking after years of ritual sacrifices.
You must gather the dragon's pile of gold, fuse each coin with a bit of your soul, and give it all to CCP.
It better not be a poor dragon either, if it isn't wearing a monocle, top hat, 100 golden belts around it's tail and drinking brandy, it is not wealthy enough.
After this you must go to the summit of Mt. Marketplace, and venture deep within the caves of Aura and retrieve boat loads of AURUM, along with leaving cold hard cash in it's place.
Only then might the AmScout start to compete.
