We can always try but it's hard to find districts to attack theses days that make for fun battles. I notice a lot of timers are earlier than our main time and therefore we have not had the best teams we could have. I love the idea of stacking a corp but sadly most of the time it doesn't work due to the PC mechanics of not controlling the exact start time and the other half you're facing a bunch of ringers.
I really hope they add a steep CP cost for ringers.
If you have any NK shinanigans countries me in if I can make the time. |

That time is (assuming you're roughly -6 GMT or something) morning to midday in Europe.
I doubt they're an EU corp unless they're being douchey. Those timers are unfeasible for EU too except on weekends.

Mini-OP 3 : Black Hawk Down
Outline for Op: Load into C-130 Black Hawk for paradrop. (C-130 was bugged to hell for some reason, Op name was changed for this ) Paradrop at night at rendezvous point around 1km out from city. Move into city, head to mosque to rescue POW's. Once mosque is secure, provide cover for POW Exfil, followed by exfil for squads. Debrief.
So, I've never paradropped before. Totally cool though, the other recruits had not either. We all get a brief run down of how it works. Interior light is red for prep, green for drop. On Green, the man closest to the outside of the chopper drops. You wait "Four One Thousand" to pull chute. After some drops, you wait 4-one-thousand to drop yourself, cycle continues until chopper is empty.
Control speed to hit ground at ~10 km/h, brace legs for impact. Radio that you dropped with status (If you did it wrong, you'd mess up your legs).
My drop goes just fine. We are told to rendezvous at blue chemlight. Get on hill, spot chemlight and head up, radioing direction so I don't get shot.
We form up and get into a column to head into town. Almost IMMEDIATELY run into patrol. We have a brief firefight on the hill, with me sticking close to another recruit. Good for him actually, he doesn't know how to patch wounds. I do because I read the entire medic training doctrine. I patch him up, and he covers me while someone else who knows how to medic comes and helps me.
We form back up, send a two man to the north to do light recon and head out. Moving in staggered column again, we move until I spot a Car. Radio call car with direction, whole column goes prone and investigates. Then someone f*cks up.
Fun fact: Laser lights show up REALLY WELL on Infrared/Night Vision. Which most of us were wearing. Including the enemies. He shines his freaking laser light AT THE CAR.
Thing stops. We basically all know whats going to happen at once. SL just screams "FIND HARD COVER" and we book it. I don't have much near me, so crawl to a tree. Dude behind me has NOTHING and gets lit up. After we get cover, SL instructs us to head to compound SW for regroup. I look at poor dude behind me, He's hurt BAD, and in clear line of fire. Truck is still there. Taking him with me would kill us both. I leave him.
Sprint up the hill, zig zagin like crazy. Regroup on hill, I help SL clear out the compound buildings. Regroup, get in contact with North squad and they provide cover as we move up.
Run into north team up the road to push in to city. We know they're friendlies. We even radio it in. Someone still shot them. Damn recruits (I say that like I'm not one ). Get him back up on feet, hit more contacts, slowly work our way into city.
Squads split again, 2 man squad to provide overwatch. We move NW into city. Then sh*t hits the fan.
Contacts EVERYWHERE. North squad reports heavy contact. SL and one other go to reinforce. Plex (My FTL), takes my fireteam and we keep heading NW to get to mosque and pull fire. Then Plex goes down, "No amount of bandages will fix this down".
Radio in that FTL is down. Silence.
Oh great. Time to step up.
Ask for a radio check from any who can hear, give status as well.
A few checks later, and yup. Everyone is down except for 3 recruits and 2 privates. And the privates are beta as hell.
So I take command. We move up slowly, heading to the mosque. Get pinned down by heavy fire, start fighting. We do pretty well, until the guy in the back got shot. I pull back from cover to go bandage him and see a target at the same time he sees me. I win the fight, but I'm f*cked up. So, for the record, the only two people who know how to bandage people properly are wounded.
I start to work on him, and he passes out. Bandage his wounds, but don't have time to administer morphine and epi until I PASS OUT.
And now for one of the funniest moments of the night. Other guys clean up targets. They come back and find us. I can hear them, but I can't talk.
It's like listening to freaking witch doctors. They had NO IDEA how to patch me up. Now, the OTHER guy is fine, he's just passed out from pain. He comes in and out of consciousness, and every time he wakes up, he says "I NEED MORPHINE".
Finally, Operation leader has some mercy. He lets a few guys spawn back in with fresh med kits. I get back on my feet, and then get my buddy up.
Push into Mosque. Long story short, Johnson and I get killed by a drive by 50 cal, and allowed to respawn because there is only a handful of people left (Started with around 9, down to 3 by the end.) Note this is the first time I've died in an operation ever. My wound/death ratio is insane.
More in next post.

Get pinned down at the door to mosque, I provide overwatch. Light some guys up, happy fun time. Run down to reinforce. Someone forgets 360 degree security, get flanked and wounded. Patch us both up. Peek around corner, find sniper. We use smoke to push up and kill him from cover.
Now the fun part. We have to go through the front of the mosque now. We are fairly certain they are watching the front. FTL says to push in after I hear the boom, he tosses a flashbang.
I run up. It wears off JUST as I almost hit cover. Go down, light up front door from prone position (they can't see me since they're standing behind the door with a windowhole.).
Team runs up. I'm hurt so bad it isn't funny. They spend a minute or two and 20+ bandages getting me up. Can't run, legs are messed up. Push into building, enemy throws a bad frag and kills most of the POW's by accident. FTL throws a bad frag into the room (Now that everyone important is dead) to kill target. Bad frag, ends up basically in my face. We are in a single column in a passageway made for 1 person at a time. I don't have time to get out of the way.
I TAKE THAT SH*T LIKE A CHAMP.
FTL: Uh... Kaisar. You okay?
Me: No.
FTL: Can you move?
Me: Yup.
FTL: What the hell.
So they clear room and ready for exfil. Hop on chopper, they bandage me tight. Lost a ton of blood though.
On our way back, we're chatting about the mission and stuff. Then I hear my heartbeat. Oh no, that means I'm about to pass out.
Mention I'm about to pass out, they can't hear me over chopper and conversations.
I pass out.
They keep talking for a bit, then someone notices. "Oh sh*t, Kaisar passed out. Yo, hurry up and get to base".
They land, I fall out the chopper right as we land, get dragged to suppy crate. Pilot comes to help with medical. And now for the funniest moment I've ever had in Arma.
"What the hell happened to this guy, he's a mummy with all these bandages"
"Uh, he got hit by a lot of fire and a grenade or two"
"How the hell is he still alive? Hell, he was even AWAKE for half the chopper ride"
"Ugh, he needs morphine and more bandages"
"GOT IT"
"GOT IT
"..."
"Wait did we all just apply morphine to him?"
"Yeah"
"Yup"
"SH*T, you're gonna kill his heart rate. Start CPR and get him some Epi."
"DON'T DIE ON US KAISAR"
"Screw it, get him a PAK"
For those who don't know, PAK's are Personal Aid Kits. Takes about 2 minutes, but it basically fully heals someone. The 2 minute struggle is where the worry is though".
"Check his heart rate and BP every 30 seconds, do CPR if he needs it. Don't give him Epi or Morphine though, he's had enough already, don't want to overload his system."
So I get 2 minutes of being told to hang on and told how long it will take to finish.
It works, I get up and start laughing my ass off at the whole situation.
10/10. Half the fun in Arma is the stuff that happens in between firefights and operations.
Can't wait for the FULL OP on Saturday. Gonna have around 30-40 people all doing this together.

@ Shotty
I agree with Jolly about the PS4. If Dust was your main reason for purchase, you don't need to have PS Plus. IMO, it is still worth it for the free games and discounts, but it is not as good a deal as when it first came out before the PS4 release.
While I think that the PS4 is worth it personally (can't imagine playing DA : I on PS3, among other games), I still think that Dust should be ported to the PC first, then to the PS4 within a reasonable time frame.
Firstly, it would attract a new audience, as well as a new revenue stream, which could then be used for the PS4 port.
Now I have to do some time zone math to figure out when the PCs are...

I think Dust should just be on the PC. I know this is a really unpopular opinion and that it would upset most of the playerbase, but for the long term it's for the best. PC is obviously the platform they're the most comfortable with, it's hard to develop and manage multiple versions across different platforms, and the game'll inevitably end up getting constrained by the PS4 again. As much as I hate playing FPS games with mouse and keyboard, PC is the way to go.

Plenty of games, in fact I would wager most non casual games are multi platform. From Final Fantasies, to PS2 and Don't Starve. Why would you limit yourself to PC only after investing so much in a game when it is just a fraction of the cost to port it to an additional system? At that point you are just leaving money on the table.

But isn't the problem that ports are crap? And don't you have to port from a console to a PC? Either way, a port that is cheap to do means it's just wrapped in **** to make it work, and won't make use of the hardware properly. Sub-optimal experience. |
