I burned through my refunds like a madman. In a few short months.

So someone in GD reached LR 13. It reportedly takes over 2 million loyalty rank points to reach rank 14.

This led me to perform some calculations.

A completely unachievable goal is even more dull, frankly.

It takes over 2 million points to reach level 14 from 13.

Fighting in a battle earns 1 loyalty rank point.
Winning that battle earns you 3.
500 WP in that battle earns you 1.

Therefore, if every single match a newly minted LR13 player played from this point onwards was a win in which he scored 3000 WP (unlikely) it would take them 200,000 battles to reach the next rank.


200,000 battles. Two hundred thousand. If each of those was over very quickly, in 10 minutes (which is also highly unlikely as many matches take 20 or so), it would take 34,000 hours of playtime to reach the next rank.

That is completely preposterous. There is absolutely no way anybody could possibly meet those requirements through gameplay. Absolutely none.That's 1400 days (4 years) of sitting at the PS3 from downtime to downtime, never sleeping or eating except for 10 minute breaks through downtime.

Not only is it 1400 days of doing that, it's doing that with an absolutely extraordinary standard of performance.


THIS ISN'T EVEN THE HIGHEST RANK.

Such a system is completely ludicrous.



Of course, the system is actually designed to be exclusively dominated by those paying money, so let's have a look at that.

To get over 2 million LRP requires well over 4 million AUR.
This is equivalent to 20 elite packs, or $2000.

For what isn't even the highest rank.

Now, Cross volunteered himself on Skype as a victim, so we're going to calculate roughly how long it'd take him to reach LR14 from LR13 (which he isn't at yet).
Cross suggests he might play 4 hours a day. So...

Managing 3 matches an hour with a 2:1 W/L ratio and a score of 1500 WP in every single match, it would take our good man Cross over 90 years to reach this point.

To reach LR14 (not the highest rank) he would need to become the oldest man who ever lived, whilst managing 4 hours of DUST a day, every day, at a good level of performance, for almost a century. This assumes that even as he ails and begins to die, he is still playing DUST to a solid level of performance for 4 hours a day.


On the bright side, if he has a priest reading Genesis 3:19 at his funeral, it will take on a very special meaning indeed.

If you only have 20mil, how can you afford 200k a pop for as many Nothi NN's as someone has? Hmm... perhaps i should test this theory. I have been offering 100k a pop for Nothi NN's (even though i've never used one). I'm surprised you pay 200k haven't seen many people wanting them.

On a side note, dang, you guys are not nearly as rich as I would think. FYI, I need a district to test a theory. Will pay a finders fee of 2 mil to whoever helps secure me a quick district.

I was hovering around 150 mil until trading came out and I started alternately giving things out and buying things.

Wondering if you couldn't create a corp with your Alt as CEO, set your tax rate really high, then transfer funds from your corp wallet to your main after grind sessions?

I was on about 240 mil before trading, though now I'm on around 140 mil. Nowadays it only fluctuates between 135 and 145 mil. I do have about 80 Lui's CR, 60 Darth's and 140 Nothi's though.

Because making money is easy and I don't lose Nothi's often.

Not only that, but I doubt most of you have over 6 of them. 5 for a mil is a decent price for me, and it gets people to part with them quite often.

As for not being as rich as you think, I would have thought that was obvious. The people you hear about that have 300 mil+ have done one of two things:

A.) Been very good at saving ISK
B.) Have been exploiting ways of making it.

PC was super exploitable in the past. Ark and I didn't take part in it.

The most money I've ever actually had in the game was in DNS era, when I was paid 20 mil a week to basically be on standby, PC ready the entire week. I blew most of it in PC's back then, and gave the rest of it away. I had at peak, 300 mil, which I blew on learning to fly ADS's and giving it away.

Came back to dust with 140 mil. Spent 120 of it on skins.

Not only that, but I doubt most of you have over 6 of them. .
