RE: PC matches

Perhaps we should state the the goals of the match before hand? There are many ways of "winning" or being "successful."

It seems like the two PCs we have played were played under typical goals.

If we are capping out CP, what is to stop us from having a few people attacking a separate district owned by the same corp, with different goals?

Say several people just want to play in cheap gear and make isk. Maybe they show up late, or just want to have fun. They can just jump in to a fight and either wing it, or decide on more casual strategy, focused on harassment rather than winning the objectives game.

Group two, can attack the district as they have been.

PC defender doesn't know what they are getting. Perhaps they split talent. In this case, we have strategically given our second group an advantage. Maybe they end up shifting resources, but by then a lead has developed, and our first group got to take out some pricey suits to pad their wallets.

Maybe that first group even invites some randoms in squad finder just for fun, maybe meet some new people, and to make sure the enemy can't simply field a small number, and maybe they end up winning.

We have SO MANY OPTIONS!!

Same as in pubs. I know FA is still alive when I see corps back out of pubs when 4 or 8 of our names pop up

UPDATE. Joined a Unit in Arma 3, passed my BIK and Rifle Range test easily, 94% and 43/50 on my first go (Respectively). Gonna retake it and shoot for 45/50 so I can be the Designated Marksman for my squad, just like what I used to do in BF3.

I see no problem doing fun fights along with serious fights, so long as we're up front about what we're doing and everyone's on the same page in advance. We've got lots of guys in different timezones to consider; Otrera out in Oceania, for instance, either stays up super late or gets up super early to fight with us; he should know in advance if we're going to be giving it our all or lol'ing around for kicks.

Again, we've only fought two fights; we've by no means established precedent for future fights. If you guys would like to, we can take a playful approach (i.e. all scouts, PLC only, BPO only, etc) to our next fight. We just need to be careful about managing expectations up front. Send out a corp mail, for example, explaining what we're up to. If we need ringers again, we should be upfront with them about what we have in mind.

That was the gist of my comment previous to the one that is quoted, that people seem to be having separate goals and expectations.

I would hate to set an early precedence of sameness. It is never too early to just throw stuff out and see what sticks in terms of our PC play, especially if we are wasting opportunities by maxing our CP stores.

Me, rexero, Bell GATOR (jap) and Nega Matix ran a fee matches...faced with mass drivers and shotgun scouts we cloned them all running assaults. Bell ran scout one match but mainly assault. Scouts die real easy and are screwed with their broken Ewar. They can't kill as good as assaults can.

Assault squad > scout squad
