OEK is (rightfully) mad because a bug in the 1.2 update allowed many people to claim 5 FREE COPIES of the Apex Serpent Scout BPO, which they could then distribute amongst their friends. Even I have a Serpent Scout BPO now that someone sent me for free.

Well, it would make me mad if I were putting my ISK on the line and losing it when there are people playing completely risk-free using BPOs that they invested absolutely nothing to minimum in. It's unfair, basically.

It does bother me.
Specifically, it bothers me that there are suits in which one can laugh at the whole idea of ISK and just risklessly suicide endlessly, heedless of any kind of consequences, unlike the players that they're killing.
I fundamentally object to APEX suits.
I do not specifically object to them on the grounds that some players got them for free, I object to the entire concept of them.
I don't see a reason why the riskless aspect should bother you when players got it for free instead of paying for them. The net result of there being 'no point in playing matches' is the same - regardless of whether the player bought it or got it for free, they are losing nothing upon death. There is barely any point in killing them except to eliminate threats to yourself.
I understand and concur that this is irritating in the extreme. But I disagree that the problem lies in free acquisition, I believe the problem is with their existence.

If Golden Day is the person I'm thinking of I would immediately assume that kicking him for simply existing would be entirely justifiable and even laudable, although maybe it wouldn't quite redeem the sin of allowing him in in the first place.

You are paying 60k AUR for an APEX suit.
How many times are you going to die in said APEX suit?
A few hundred times? A few thousand times?
For 60k AUR, you can buy and outfit a very large number of ADV fittings. ADV suits are, IIRC, in fact superior to APEX because since slot tiericide they actually have more CPU/PG (correct me if I'm wrong on this, but it honestly makes little difference).
You have to lose thousands of this exact suit without changing the fittings (if you change the fittings your expenses go up and for a fair comparison you would proportionally increase the budget for the ADV suits) before the APEX suit becomes worth it.
Thousands.
If you're going to die a couple thousand times, it would be more worthwhile to grind FW because the proportional time investment as part of your time played is minimal. Even if you die 20 times a match you're likely to get an APEX suit before your 60k AUR of suits run out.
60k/$30 is an insanely high price.

LP ones are better worth the hassle.

But I was. Not a victory you should be proud of, we lost by one tick of armor to your A team when we didn't even have our usual team and had disconnects in the middle of the battle. Also none is our vehicle specialists were online except Death. If we had Jamaican your tanks would have been destroyed within the first 2 minutes of the battle.
Everyone after the battle was actually quite proud of themselves because we thought that 14v16 would be a harder battle. To be honest I had a lot of fun melting Prez and Anon in the face while I did not have a single death.
