Thank you for all of your feedback so far. I'd like to answer a few of your questions about DUST 514 and Project Legion directly given the feedback you gave me. I've picked these four points as they are coming up the most on the forums as well as in the live roundtable discussions here at Fanfest.

1) What happens to my character, skills and stuff?

If Project Legion becomes something more than a prototype, we will not leave our DUST 514 players behind. You would be able to bring your character name, applicable skills/inventory, and other elements of progression with you. We are still working on the details and we will have more to announce soon.

2) Are you completely abandoning DUST dev?

No. Without promising too much, we are actively working on stuff like balancing, Planetary Conquest, matchmaking, the in-game economy, and more. And of course we continue to work with the CPM to identify ways to improve the game.

3) Is Project Legion going to have a PS4 version? Or something for consoles?

It is still far too early to discuss platform expansion, as like you saw we are still only working on the PC prototype at this time. But the PC architecture gives us the opportunity to grow once we have a great PC product at hand. For now, though, PlayStation 4 is not something we are working on.

4) When are you going to give us more concrete information on Legion?

Again, Project Legion is still in an early stage of development but the whole idea behind giving a sneak peek at Fanfest is to get early feedback - and I really want to keep this discussion going, show you progress through dev blogs and such and listen to what you have to say.

Please post your feedback and questions in this thread - and let's keep this conversation going. The team and I will be reading this thread, and I will respond as soon as I can.

Here are my questions:


You've said you'll continue development for Dust, great. Regarding that:

1) What Developers will be working on what title?

2) Are there any departments NOT working on Dust 514 anymore?

3) Do you intend to bring out actual new content to Dust 514 rather than just balances/bug fixes? This may mean new weapons, maps and vehicles.

4) It has been confirmed that PvE will NEVER hit the ps3, will the Player Market be developed for the PS3 title, or at least is that a consideration?

Hi - It's SoTa PoP - the guy handing you your ass for the past 2 years.

The guy CCP is now abandoning for PC. The guy who now is both hurt and PISSED THE **** OFF AT CCP.

Ok the game was limited by the engine and the PS3 shouldn't give a sustainable future for a mmo.

Like yelling on all roofs that Dust the past, and Legion "the new great CCP project blahblahblah - super excited! ".
You just crucified the last few players who was trusting you for Dust. (EVE fanboys don't count even if personally I made part of them)

Whatever you can say about your politics about Dust you know like me how that's working. SOE will not wait the game will be deserted. They'll make a end to the agony when the game will not be bankable anymore.

CCP is now loosing a part of his community.
A community who grow with the game and that will never follow CCP again for most of them.
That's a pity because the project was a CROSS-PLATFORM, what appended with this great idear ?
You was the pioneer of this subject, why not switching for PS4?
I am a PC Gamer since 8 years old, I played EVE since 8 years but look at fps on pc!
Look at Planetside2 with is a total brothel (bordel like we say in France) the game is hacked at 100%.

- Aim bot
- Wall hack
- Level hack
- Stats hack
- Lobby's hacks
Etc....

If you ignored this parameter I think you have nothing to do in the business.
Making a character on a biaised game have no sense for me.

Why should any of us take seriously any promises made about Legion or your plans for it? These were all the same ideas about how awesome Dust was gonna be, from a couple of years ago.

I think the community deserves to hear a detailed case for why the existing game can't "evolve" into Legion on the PC and has to be started from the ground up. I think the whole community acknowledges that the PS3 has a limited lifespan, but most were expecting an evolution to better hardware, not a separate product. Restarting from scratch is one of the biggest blunders one can do in software. Here is a famous article: Things You Should Never Do, Part I on the subject. Here's a great cartoon.



Also, Legion looks like it's abandoning some of the best features of DUST. The EVE-style skill tree is fantastic, and differentiates DUST from other FPS games in the market. CCP Rouge, by trading depth of DUST for accessibility, do you really think CCP Shanghai can compete head-to-head with the biggest studios/publishers in the world (that have more experience, resources and budget) for the "accessible" FPS marketshare, instead of targeting a smaller, more-hardcore niche in the market? There are certainly ways to add accessibility to the existing systems (e.g. ISIS in EVE) through better UI and a rich tutorial.
