They also will both be interacting with EVE online and it's database, and it's market.
How much development with EVE could be done "in parallel"; meaning are there things with EVE (such as OBs of today) which could be added to DUST while developing Legion. For example, many such features seem to be more practical to introduced into DUST and Legion at the same time, such as the "progression" presentation, as well as the full market integration (Which should be largely EVE-side code?) Stop ******* asking about Legion....we are trying to preserve dust on the console.
It will be preserved ... problem is nothing much can be added to it, it wouldn't handle such huge scale that the original vision had. Console is made for fast, easy and fun games... |

Problem is, Dust would never be so awesome on a console. Too many limitations from start, consoles aren't made for such complicated, huge things like vision for dust. They are for fast, easy, and fun games... Any mmo for console will have to be focused on 1 thing, never on so many things that dust is. Singleplayers tend to be better on console obviously, but never mmo. You want to be dust so much on a console, yet you don't realize it can never really happen there. |

you are misinformed horribly and should keep your mouth shut if you don't know what you are talking about, the PS4 was designed around modern gaming computers. ps3 might be an obsolete console but the ps4 is a beast that can play any modern game out there, including mmo's or even an awesome version of dust 514. another thing, according to sales figures and desk top PC's are losing popularity and are quickly becoming obsolete technology. |

Hi, I am curious - will Legion play more like a game of eve?
What I mean by that is are we free in Legion to explore the universe? Will the game be pve focused / pvp focused or a mix of the two with an emphasis on PVP (Just like EVE?)
I love the idea of Legion and I cant wait to play and test the game!

And with AT THE VERY LEAST, confirmation of a (SHORT) timeframe within which to expect answers to the questions we're ACTUALLY ASKING, instead of the handful of pre-planned questions CCP wanted us to ask. |

Hey guys, sorry about not getting back to you earlier. I've been busy having retrospectives with the other developers after the announcements as well as absorbing and thinking about your feedback that I've been reading on the forums.
Firstly, I want to address the concerns about character migration from DUST 514 to Legion. There has been some concerns about what exactly we are looking to migrate. We are looking to migrate everything we can about characters from DUST 514, including names, corporation membership, skill points, assets and ISK. We have not yet decided how this would translate to the new items and progression system in Legion, but we want to make sure that the time, effort and money you invested in DUST 514 in Legion is carried over.
Secondly, I wanted to address the questions about what type of payment model we are looking to use with Project Legion. At this stage, we have not finalized the details of the monetization model, there have no discussions yet about moving away from a free-to-play model.
IGÇÖll still be around over the next few days to answer more questions, but I just wanted to start off with these two. Please keep posting your thoughts and questions. |

This is the big one to me. Still looking for more concrete details since things are in flux as far as how Legion will handle but this statement is a great first step. |

When it comes to DUST development I can tell you that we are currently looking at changes to Planetary Conquest, further iterating on item balance after Uprising 1.8 and some matchmaking improvements; all of which will be deployed as server-side updates. We currently don't have a date set for when you will get these updates.

This made me a bit unsecure. The current system is pretty good if you ask me. But I guess Aurum weapons don't do an economy any good. Maybe they'll go and the new system will focus more on cosmetic stuff? Any info on when we can expect the dev blog?

My character ports over. I can't ask for more. After all that way I keep everything I paid for. So I would actually consider paying money for Legion again if everything goes smooth.

If you're not going to develop Dust as a sandbox MMO integrated into EVE Online then it's false advertisement as far as I am concerned.
And Dust becomes nothing other than a run-of-the-mill lobby shooter. Nothing special to see here, folks, move on.

Anyways, so if all we're getting for dust are hotfixes and balancing does that mean no pilot suits? Also, we can trade isk between accounts, how come we can't trade items between accounts?
You don't need to worry whether the economy is "balanced" because there won't be an economy in a little while. Just let us trade our items, let us figure out how much we want to pay isk for those items by messaging each other, and BAM, we have our player market. Sure, prices will fluctuate wildly, and it will be hard to set a standard pricing for those items, but it's not like we're going to affect anything going on in the eve universe, right?

Speaking from observation and from experience, the current AUR system we have now is somewhat ok but it still needs more improvement. My biggest worry some time ago was how tiered AUR items will be dealt with once the secondary economy and manufacturing was implemented. But now that Legion will be getting the economy and industry instead, it doesn't matter for Dust at this point. Legion on the other hand has an opportunity to get it right this time as tiered AUR items as you see in Dust are a major problem for the economy and hopefully Legion will get rid of it so that the economy will not suffer once Legion is given the green light.
One question for you CCP Rouge.
Can you get Hilmar Veigar to give the green light for Legion? The sooner the better.

I would like that too. I have accepted Legion as Dust 2.0 now that we have confirmation that our stuff migrates. Without Legion beeing greenlit I feel like Dust and everything I waited for in that game will come to an end.

Not much, but better, so I guess I should thank you for at least providing this info.
It sounds like you'll basically just be finishing up what you've currently been working on, though.
So then my next question(s) would be: Is that going to be all? Will there be more to come in the future and, for how long? |

As a result of the rather general feedback regarding any future content for DUST 514 on PS3, I have the following, specific questions:
1) Will we be receiving the rest of the racial vehicle variants?
2) Will we be receiving any new weapons, vehicles, etc.?
These are things that will give the current player base something to look forward to, and will help keep them engaged while Legion is in development , so please let us know, at the very least, if either (or both) of these are coming. We need to know that the game is still growing, not just being kept alive.

With only half of the hamsters than were previously assigned to Dust "development' (fixes and balancing); is it safe to assume that the speed and responsiveness we've come to expect from the DUST Dev team will suffer?
I support legion. - it's more of a theoretical support. Depending on the feedback I get, it may become actual support.

Hi everyone, (aka suckers)
1) What happens to my character, skills and stuff?
F**k you if it ain't on console I ain't playin it.
2) Are you completely abandoning DUST dev?
Yes we are I just don't know how to tell you.
3) Is Project Legion going to have a PS4 version? Or something for consoles?
"It is still far too early to discuss platform expansion" We don't care about you console suckers. We just took all your money to design a game for PC.
4) When are you going to give us more concrete information on Legion?
Again, Project Legion is still in an early stage of development (aka dust for pc alpha testing). Screw you console players we will come out with it when we do. We suck at FPS and will use all the knowledge you gave us to make the best PC FPS screw you console players.
Please post your feedback and questions in this thread - and let's keep this conversation going. The team and I will be reading this thread, and I will respond as soon as I can.

It's sounds VERY suspect when you say "I want to make it free-to-play," meaning that CCP Rouge does, but that's not how it's going to be. So, if it's not going to be free-to-play, what then? How is it that CCP is both really good and spectacularly bad at communication? CCP Iceland has it down. They release forum threads on new features months in advance to get feedback. CCP Shanghai seemingly has the communication skills of a kindergartener sometimes. I mean, how can you come in and make an off-the-cuff comment about the PAYMENT MODEL without 1) being the authority on what the model will be and 2) with concrete information? Why just not say anything at all? Was there a tremendous demand to say a small hint on the changing payment model but not be able to follow it up?
I used to want to think that you guys had a good communication network, and that you'd release information in a methodical fashion. Now, I'm not sure. I just don't see the virtue of commenting on something so large--so large as the money we give you--and then not follow it up.

It just means he's going to convince Hilmar to let it become free-to-play. It's extremely likely to become F2P considering that CCP recently hired several people who seem to specialize on Microtransactions in the gaming industry in the previous month. If that's the case, I'll be happy.

One thing that hasn't been covered yet is a clear, sensible explanation for why Legion can't be developed for both PC and PS4 simultaneously. Considering that you're using UE4, most of the "port" is covered by the game engine - or is Epic just blowing smoke? Is Sony the problem?
