So I decided to try playing the Witcher series from the start before going into Witcher 3. I like the story a lot, but the combat's just super janky. And the voice acting is really not great.

You don't have to which I find to be the best aspect of the Witcher 3. It's a self contained story from the life of Geralt of Rivia and gives you enough to know what's going on but that little bit more that you definitely want to know what did happen.
I find the game great but I have to play it sporadically otherwise I feel like I am rushing through it too much that and Gwent pissed me the **** off. I'm too used to being able to build a deck with cards I want from scratch around specific strategies and patterns. In Witcher 3 you need to ******* find half a ******* hundred cards to even play well enough to feel competitive and even then you just have to be lucky to win the ones you need to start new decks.

That and making a Heavy Armour, Power Strike, Shield Explosions, Push Build has been a joy even before I got through the massive questlines of which I am not even through Act 1 and haven't even pursued the romance options in Yennefer, the clearly superior choice of the two options presented.
