Under ground Warfare
It would be sweet to have under ground shoot outs, like a underground laboratory, lights flicker of the warfare over ground. Cave shaking and bullets echoing, That would be Intense, be like a Giant Maze like cavern.
P.S That flickering bullet flashes from the darkness could light the cave tunnels, it would have a chilling effect adrenaline rush.
Also how about some 3rd party groups for the planets, hostile to both party's like a creature protecting its habitat or something like that. it would be cool seeing life on these battle fields. |

Though I know this wouldn't be implemented at all, it would be nice if it were sometime implemented.
I would like a map with water. Perhaps one team, the attackers, start out a bit further out on an island? If boats aren't implemented then a hovercraft of sorts, or just allow players to cross via dropship. Though a hovercraft, or boat would be nice to have.
Naval combat would be a huge bonus to this sort of map, and to the game in general. So, perhaps some number of ships. These ships can have different types of cannons placed on them, like tanks, based on the type of ship that is being used.

This has probably been suggested but a jungle-esque theme would be great. Perhaps some camps setup throughout the jungle.

A map containing lava. You can use it to restrict battle zones, make it a risk using vehicles, etc... You can get creative with the uses. But, if a player touches it, they will be instantly killed, no matter their current vehicle. |

Some form of map that changes over time might be cool. Like a capsizing ship that is slowly turning over and closing off/opening up areas due to the flooding. |

A map with plenty of raised plateaus, all interconnected with bridges. Plenty of chances to be forced off the platforms or bridges and to fall to the lower battlefield. half of the objectives should be raised on the plateaus and the other half should be down on the ground. Even though there'd be large masses of earth in the way, it should be easy to look all around and weave between them. The atmosphere would feel sort of open and vulnerable, yet tight at the same time, if that makes any sense. |

In addition to that Idea, I think that if you were to not 'take' the planet but pirate it's goods as a duster, say for example, you use that train theme but instead you are there to rob the train in a western-themed train heist. That would spark both an additional pirate industry and a very uncommon theme for an FPS. Imagine being a counter force to protect the train from such an attack for instance...

In addition to reading the trench idea comments, has anyone considered a map like the 40k world of Cadia? It is a giant ass fortress that has so many trenches, bastions, anti-ship weapons, and of course, cannon fodder guardsmen that it has held for thousands of years. Say in a Dust game there is such a planet and the battlefield would be throughout so many bunker systems and concrete defenses that it gets redundant to both attack or defend... |

So with the whining about unbalanced maps, there should be maps that are unbalanced. You will hear about the impregnable nature of so-and-so planet that the defenders abused the mechanics to outright obscenely unfair advantages (goons will probably be a culprit of it if they aren't pirating around). But that will make it all the sweeter when a coalition to take it down to make a name for themselves. |

I would like to see some boarding party action, like if the objective was to take control of the enemy ship so you had to jump from one vessel to another in the middle of space. it would be pretty intense to try to cross the void of space without getting shot by a defender on your way over.
it would make having a good dropship pilot even more vital as well. |

HAVE the attacking temam start on a small island in which they have to use dropships to reach a beachhead where the defeding team has bunkers then once they (attackers) pass the defenses they have to fight through an open area with trenches and then finally reach the enemy base. In order to avoid having the attackers get stuck on the beach head have one or two islands where a few men can land then move through some mango grooves and then flank the bunkers. All this in a tropical setting. Also try to inckude some cover for the attackers on the beach like maybe some walls tanktraps foxholes etc.. what do you think? |

Random situational hazards/changes? Perhaps dust storms, earthquakes, snowstorms, magnetic fields etc. depending on the planet type. They would have different effects on different weapons / modules, kinda like wormhole space in EVE, and be more or less random.

In the art book you showed what were basically Titan trains. Almost like the eve ground credible of At-AT walkers. But big enough to have fights inside.
Basicaly a set piece that moves, Like the mcc but at ground level. You can jump into them and take out the core or hit it with heavy turrets. When they get in range they power up a TitaN doomsday weapon. Takes 5 epic minutes to charge , while you try to rake it out from inside, but the inside needs to be as big as a whole map. A map on wheels almost. A map where you look the window and you see you are moving. Can't we get that? It's not new for fps titles just never in a setting like dust !! |

Majesty tge story more epic if you win on a level where u start off with only canyons. Giving the defenders high ground. |

There are 26 pages of responses, so I'm sure I'm repeating someone, but here are my ideas.
Skybox: It's hard to see now, because of the dust storms we're fighting in, but if the sky used the same skybox as the region the planet is in does in Eve, that would go a long way to adding both context and alien atmosphere. Glorious color at night, faded in the day.
Moons/rings: If the planet has moons, render them brightly in the sky. Closer moons larger, farther ones smaller. Maybe random location along the ecliptic to keep thing interesting. Ditto for planetary rings.
Seasons: Planets could have a seasonal cycle. You could procedurally generate the season based on a set "New Year" and a year calculated on the distance of the planet from the sun. Modify the mood of the map based on season.
Weather: Rain, snow, sleet, storms, dust. Randomly generated for the match, but modified by the map's base mood and season (eg, desert map has much higher chance of dust storm than rain, except in winter).

I would like to see a navigation grid like on defense maps so u can provide pinpoint locations to team mates. In fact a G.P.S. on the H.U.D. could prove very useful. Also all them red & green chevrons are just annoying in as much as there is no way to range them, you cant tell if its 10 meters in that direction or 10 kilometers so whats the use. |

hmm how about a map with more open building a providence of sniper coverage would add a pump up to the mix of skirmish and protecting objectice also some ideas on weapons they are in fact great but it would be better if the guns did infact look different like for each faction the gun has a different look like how you did with a different looking merc quarters for the faction just recently. back to topic a map with more environment is a good idea as some state but it would also be nice if there was a poiint where there was oceanic regions as well as vehicles like submarine or boats for support in the map i'm loving the maps so far but i belive that if you make too many places look like power plant you would lose your contributors a little bit make the maps look as different as possible add a new mapp with a forest theme maybe or like others say a city surprise with more open buildings and different look of the maps make the maps moer unique than the other its own special meaning to it captivate your players to new ways of defending objectives or new ways of surprise attack. also if you dont mind me saying personally i wouldnt mind an emblem system being run i know people like the shooter but i would like it if i could make an emblem that appears on my suit to show off for this would make a great and addictive turn to want to spend isk on emblem decorations as well i know i'm talking a storm but really how often do pc games affiliate with other consles rarely ever. also i would like to know will you be doing like a level up system to do a more in depth confirmation of a squad leader or will you be leaving it as is i would like to have more chats on this matter if possible if you want email me at [email protected] i have some pretty good ideas and suggestion if you wouldnt mind hearing me out of course.

I love the huge open areas and battlefields of Dust 514, but what I am really have a mindset for is like what EVE is known for huge ship warfare I often watched my older brother play Eve religiously a couple time, he would come over and visit .I loved the concept but it was not really for me as i was always into FPS and a console gamer but then something cool happened he mentioned to me about this beta and he said he has a beta key for it and i asked him for it and i Instantly fell in love with the game of dust 514 but enough of that side story . I really want to see the DEV get into the tight close quarter battles of some huge spaceships i would quote some names but i do not know much lore or fluff for the Eve universe. I'd love to see good light dynamics inside the corridors and good environment effects and interactions. As much as I immerse myself in the FPS aspect i really enjoy how the environments look as i spend all my time running around or getting picked off by snipers but it all adds to the quantitative aspects of the game but id like to see some ship hulls battles were its tight nit and shotguns and knives usage out weighs the scooped, and running shot from the hip around corridors happens.(not complaining about any weapon or inb4nerfsniperrifles ect) As many FPS have a zone in which the combat takes place, it seems filled with obstacles that just fill the area(not saying you guys did not put any thought into it) some maps i prefer some do not tickle my fancy for being to open or highly hilly/elevation. I like how you guys touched based with a sort of building/city scape were we can zig zag around pop off a few shots or finish up close with a sub machine gun. but a good idea i had for a setting would be like a ship bay on a planet for small craft or some sort of factory/manufacturing district. This is just a tangent could of already been said or covered before as I just found the forms and have not really lurked them but just wanted to put something out! |

First of all, please don't get mad if I should post one or two ideas already been brought up by others. I read through a whole lot of the ideas for maps here, but to be able to read all of them, I would need to get a second life.;-) But I myself have got a few thoughts on maps I'd like to share:
Important question for self-announced map-designers such as mine: Is there a map editor of any kind planned to give players the possibility to have more influence on the maps as to just plan where to drop the structures? And, does anyone know how that will work once it is implemented, players changing the look of a map by dropping strutures and so on...?
What kind of maps could we use? - Different forms of maps, like e.g. fighting on the outside or the inside of a space ship or space station, will there be such? Or on a giant asteroid (I love asteroids). Or a map of a holed planet, made blowy like a swiss cheese by mining and alike activities, where most of the action takes place underground. (I know, the aspect of battling in ships and such already was talked about, and I find the idea more than promising). - Plants with alien vegetation, like blue, yellow, red foliage or even black? You know that this is scientifically absolutely possible when plants tend to use other parts of the light spectrum? Or what about alien rainfall or snowfall, like big floating flakes of snow in green color and such things, will there be (alien) weather on some maps? Jungles, of course! As many already posted here, too many to name GÇÜem all. I know they will be comparedly harder to build than , let's say barren world maps, but it would be worthwile, don't you all think? - Submarine environments, like one of the guys was asking in the GÇ£Seeding the UniverseGÇ¥ video conference: Not only thinkable on marine planets, on some maps there could be gigantic domes under which the maps are, holding water or even a hostile atmosphere outside. So the players would be fighting under a giant dome all of the time. - Worlds with craters, canyons and such, so the players will have to use vehicles and bridge-like structures to even start to make their way, if they donGÇÖt want to fall into a bottomless pit. Some "loose" ideas: Desert planets, like in the movie GÇ£DuneGÇ¥, wouldnGÇÖt be too hard to build, only sand dunes, or, on another planet, pebbles and rocks, or nothing more than plateaus on waterGǪ Maps with gravity gimmicks, like for example Brutus Solarus asked for. Maps full of trenches and debris from buildings and eve ships, like Zhar Ptitsa demanded - gimme 'em! Urban combat would be wonderful. Tight alley ways, only certain directions vehicles can go. One thing I would REALLY like to see (and I'm probably repeating Someone in here but, whatevs) is: Jungle maps. Crowded with plants, nothing but claustrophobic trackways to your objectives, perfect for ambushes by quick, quiet scout suits fitted with short range weapons, Heavies with HMGs and assaults with mass drivers. Of course these would be counterable, flamethrowers (if ever developed), HAVs, and the hypothetical ambushee's own scout ambushes
Moderate flights of fancy aside, Jungle maps would be exciting, nerve-wracking, bloody (metaphorically), brutal, and a true test of commander skills.
Especially if Equipment was developed that removed enemy chevrons, health and names from appearing on screen (allies still would), and rendering radar completely useless.
Other Maps I would like to see: Oceanic (seafloor, like Rapture in the game Bioshock, not a derrick floating on the top of the water) Lava planets City Station (space or gas giant) |

make something like battlefield 2142,where you need to cut down the shields of the enermy mcc by capturing the points,fly trough it with some kind of helicopter or jetpack and infiltrate the enermy mcc to destroy the engines with bombs,also the pre-war lobby screen could be like everybody on your team inside the ally mcc traveling to battle point,with interactable holographic table and some animations of the preparation of the great war like mercs picking up their dropsuits and your merc jumping and skydiving off the mcc,i think it would be more awsome if the the spawn system could be more like you can jump from the mcc and use some kind of parachute or jet to prevent damage from falling or you just select a spawn point and appears there. make more kinds of vehicles like bipedal walking mechs,jetpack,some kind of jetbike,a large transporter with a lot of shield,a tank,a fast vehicle like some kind of jeep for only 2 persons.
ANYWAY THE GAME IS FANTASTIC BUT I WOULD LOVE IF MY IDEAS BECOME REALITY THANK YOU EVERYBODY AND HAVE A NICE GAMING |
