I'm really liking the idea of a predominantly vertical map that keeps getting suggested. I'm imagining ladders, stairs, struts and maybe even elevators - little room for tanks and jeeps except on the ground floor, but lots of room for air vehicles circling the skyscraper(s).
Actually, that's a cool idea, 2, 3 or 4 skyscraper with wide interlinking walkways, interior office-spaces, and attackers drop down on roof landing pads, then storm the buildings.
Come to think of it, what's Dust's engine capable of - destructable terrain wise? |

Actually, I'm gonna come out and say it: I want unbalanced maps. I want some maps to have an outright advantage to one side. Other maps to have specific sections which are unbalanced in favour of one team, but not the whole map.
I want there to be 'terrain' in that there exists a reason to care about the map you're on.
Because when CCP implements corp matches, I want it to matter where we fight, and for it to matter to the EVE players who request those fights. Perhaps for the merc corps to be familiar and request bonuses for fighting a harder fight. |

Ok go with me on this one, the attackers are on like a island there is 1 single bridge to get across. this bridge has 2 walkways on both sides and 1 underneith for infantry the main part of the bridge for tanks can get across but only if the bridge is lowered, a button in the center of the bridge ( a hackable point) can be repeatitly switched.
the attacking team has many options
Dropships could bring infantry past the bridge, you don't need to take the bridge.
you can have scouts quickly secure the bridge so tanks could get through
no tanks, just infantry
call in tanks when on the other side of the ravine |

im thinking of a mountin fight, where the Attackers have to work there way to the top of it through a tunnel system or up and around the face of it, and stop the deffenders from sending info via consols to there eve mates.
or a jungle map with a huge fracture wich will make up most of the map, with criss crossing tunnels and bridges.
think king kong type jungles with indigenious life on it may be...? |

Two simple requests:
An mountainous map where the best way to travel is through air or on foot and the terrain is steep and dangerous for ground vehicles.
Secondly, a more open, land vehicle oriented map; vast tracks desert that have to driven through with Mad Max style gunfights occurring around an objective (whatever it may be).
Though honestly, I would really like a dark, war torn battlefield with crashing lighting and an endless, torrential downpour. I want to see the debris of a city/outpost/installation scattered about, bent and twisted in unnatural ways. It should have large craters scattered around; the aftermath of a long battle that ended with an orbital bombardment. That'd be sweet. |

When last years E3 trailer hit, it set a story for what was going on. "All squads this is command, we have a team pinned down inside the control room. They will not hold without reinforcements. We are going to insert from...."
I imagined having to cross a huge open terrain where vehicles dominated. Get loaded into APCs, Dropships, Tanks, etc. and cross the vast barren desert to reach the skyfire batterery base/installation. Once there, the ground assault began. "A team held up inside the control room" made me think that the enemy team had to go floor-to-floor of at least a 3 story building to get to the control room. Not like the bases now where you enter into the building and you get 1 room but a building that's first floor is a large generator room with lots of cover, a stairwell at the end of it that takes you to rows of rooms/offices that will eventually bring you to the main control room that looks out over the battlefield from 5 stories up. Epic. |

Personally, I wanna see a futuristic city/colony, basically, turn this picture into a map (more or less) and I'd be happy.
EDIT: Looking at the picture again, it reminds me of Gallente architecture. (Compare the green curved parts of the huge building to the Gallante space stations.) |

Perhaps a futuristic urban map, having to fight through a city to get to a military compound on the edge. Only 2 or 3 story buildings though, skyscrapers would be difficult. |

A Plasma OR Lava PLanet where you can barely only move inside the stations. There should be also streets involved. Everything should be under glass or something like that, maybe there could be also broken parts where people fall down when they dont watch out. Would be perfect for a Capture the Flag or King of the Hill Game mode. |

I just want to fight in a big city on a temperate planet. The way this game gets, with firefights erupting out of nowhere...I think it would just be awesome to fight in an urban environment in this game |

I would like an assault on a fortress/bunker installation. Have the main entrance heavily armed with turrets and limited cover outside. Then have 2-3 backdoor entrances where the attackers need to hack various doors and fight across a labyrinth of tunnels underground to finally hack the power distribution to disable the turrets at the main entrance. |

Let's go with assets that already exist for the most part, and require a lot less effort. More bang for our buck.
How about a new 24 or 32 player skirmish Barren map, rounded out to be about 50% open land, and the other 50% being structure-based, and internal, large areas?
Of course, evolve the idea around the best possible way to test future builds of the Beta, as that is what this is all about right? |

Jungle with dangerous plants, would be funny to have jungle with various graphism for plants and some plant would be dangerous for various reasons, and the veterans players will earn the knowledge to recognise theses plant to avoid them, people playing on theses maps will memorize (or not it's their problem....) the graphic of theses plants
at the same level would be fun to have some plant with some benefits : "hacking" theses to eat theyre fruits or drink sap that would work like a drugs with various bonus
or even why not hacking one of theses sp+¬cific plant and surviving the fight would give a juicy bonus in isk as it''s rare and valuable food, like long limbs roe ^^ |

Going along with some ideas already put out, a map with eve ships in them as part of the environment would be cool.
But many eve ships are huge!
So another idea I had was a map with the setting being an EvE shipyard or assembly area. One area could be a hanger with smaller ships like rifters parked with some of them partly destroyed. You could go to a part of the broken rifter and hack it. Then take control of the last functioning autocannon mounted on the ship! Much like in the way you hack/use the turrets on the map.
Other parts of the shipyard map could have "panels" or portions of the ships we know and love in EvE with machinery around that's used to fabricate the ships.
The wreckage idea also makes sense to show parts of a huge EvE ship. This could be cratered wreckage of gigantic ships in which parts of the ship made it through the atmosphere of a planet to crash into the ground.
Or again wreckage in an orbital shipyard that's being attacked by one side. |

TITANS, were the first reply.
One thing I'd love to see would be to have to send a dropship through enemy lines at their capitals, and send the mercs after the pod chamber while the battle rages in EVE. The enemy capital pilot/corp would then have to respond by having their own mercs at the ready to insert and defend when attacked.
Imagine the Titan pilots reaction when he/she's sitting there, peacefully slaughtering the enemy, and then being told that some merc is planting a demolition charge under his/her pod... |

I'm loving the previous ideas.
I was thinking about some of the Lava and Plasma maps and it occurred to me that I would greatly enjoy the maps if the environment was almost as dangerous as the combat. If you're fighting at the base of a volcano on a lava planet, let it rain ash so we can barely see and let fire bombs hit randomly so we're forced to move quickly from cover to cover to avoid danger. If we're next to a tall structure, make us worry about static electricity and lightning arcs. Make it random and fairly unpredictable.
Basically, when someone is planning a campaign, give them a reason to really look at the map and plan insertions. These kind of environmental dangers don't have to be restricted to just Lava or Plasma.
If it's barren, make us fight on the Grand Canyon. Make being on top of natural formations more accessible, but make us worry about falling off a too high ledge.
If it's temperate, make deep foliage slow us down if we're off the beaten path. With deep, well grown forests, let us climb vines (realistically, there is weight to consider, but the point is the point) to get up into the trees to provide over watch.
Ice planets? Make it slippery. Hell, make the ice semi-destructible so that cover is unpredictable. When trudging through unpacked snow, have it slow down units. Let us use ice picks to climb up ice cliff faces.
Storm planets should have high winds that screw with the spread of certain types of weapons. Dark, lots of lightning, thunder and a torrential down pour.
Just a few thoughts. |

Whatever the battle is set, I would like to see the maps with more bottlenecks and less freedom of roaming.
That would value more strategical and tactical gameplay and less running-and-gunning type of gameplay.
I want to feel some feel of realism out of matches, not so much kiddie level of realism regularly found in shooters.
Shooting is fun but a dragged standoff can be as fun since one wrong movement could mean defeat.
In fact, I dont like much the die-respawn-die-respawn game mechanic, but thats another subject and probalby a dead horse already since the game is like that already. |

Barren worlds: These should be desolate waste lands with little atmosphere. Rock formations should be sharp and curvy due to the millions of years it took for the wind to carve through them. Dust storms should be frequent, playing a role in the tactics of the opposing forces. The weather there should mainly be dust storms with an occasional rare clear day. I think weather should be be consistant through out the battles since battles are short unless they lengthen. |

I would like to see a mining complex. Minimal above ground structures. The planetary links to space and launchpad and defenses would be above ground but then the majority of the map would be subterranean with tunnels and machinery.
In PI I figure everything is mined out of the planet so this seems logical. |

Lava planets: These should be covered with lava and wacky jagged rock formations. The environment should be hostile. With an extremely poisonous atmosphere and ash clouds covering the planet and sometimes the field, players should be well prepared before embarking on this planet. Things that could exist are refinaries, launch, launch pads. extractors and other PI things. Though the world is covered in lava, lava rock fields should also exist allowing players to traverse the field on foot and vehicle. There should be random spots on the map that are too hot for players to last there for X amount of minutes. Fights can take place at these points but players must be weary of the slow deteroration of the shield/then armor. If a player dies on the map the body is instantly engulfed in flames as the temperature on the planet is to high to have any organic life last for more than a few moments. The only way dust players and their equipment can last is due to the shielding and armor. |

I have been playing Tribes: Ascend so a dagoba style Tartarus map might be nice [swamps and all].
What I do crave though, is some nice indoor action however. Hidey-holes galore etc. I can't get enough of urban or jungle warfare to be honest. I want to just sit in a tree and shoot people in the back of the head. Extinct lava tunnels.
Caves and mountains might also be nice. |
