I really like the idea of a completely urban map. These other ideas are great, especially the ship-to-shop boarding parties thing, but I'd like to see an EVE style urban combat map. |

Lots of great ideas here, hard to think of anything new.
My suggestion has less to do with layout and more about extra atmosphere.
It might be nice to have different coloured suns which in turn could apply a slightly different colour filter on the level just to add a bit of that "alien world" feel to it all. |

One word: Gravity.
Eve's universe is home to alllll sorts of different planets and moons, and solar systems. So, I think it'd be sick if gravity varied depending on the orbital body you were fighting on. On a moon, for example, there'd be a lot less atmosphere than on a planet, so you could jump really far. Perhaps, dropsuits would require you to fit vectoring thrusters if you were going on an extremely low gravity battlefield.
Additionally, on planets that have a very high gravity, they may be in an asteroid-rich area, and perhaps they are continually pulling those asteroids out of orbit and into the planet itself, leading to random "bombings."
I think playing with aspects like that could lead to some really fun prospects, especially the way that each planet would end up looking. Low atmosphere would be a very harshly lit place, with wispy gaseous clouds spiraling off the surface, while others may have intense storms and foggy gas layers all over their surfaces. |

Inside POSes, and POCOs would be a cool alternate way to take out enemy POSes and POCOs
going along with Brutus' suggestion, space combat. Fighting on the fuel depots, cargo bays, and other structures found in EVEs complexes and missions would also make for a new dynamic environment especially when you come across the guys who blow up all the structures just for the hell of it... |

I like all the ideas involving weather, but I want to add something. Lets have a weather report tool as well.
Say you want to take this Ice planet, but its current owners have the complex very well fortified with turrets, mines and the like. Also there are big open spaces leading up to the complex. You won't be able to get there without VERY heavy losses. So you check the weather and see there will be a snow storm in 2 days. So you prepare and fit for close range and take it from them when they can't see you coming.
This can also work on Barren(sand storm) or Temperate(rain storm) |

Wow, great ideas in here .
Anything located on a Lava planet will do
As a huge carebear in EvE who likes all things Incursion related, if the DUST team has any COOP mode in store for the future, it would be nice to lay some whoopass down on the Sansha as they try to 'recruit' more people for Kuvakai. |

Ice planets, something like the battle of Hoth where you have a mechanized force attacking a heavily fortified ground instillation to take out the shield generator. with a chance of blizzards
Oceanic planets, I'd like to attack a floating city like 'Atlantis" from Stargate atlantis. one team spawns inside their MCC and has to use drop ships to establish a beachhead on the floating city. or maybe even use a type of submersible and dock under the city. with a chance of thunderstorms.
Barren planets, just like what we have in Beta now but with a chance of dust storms.
gas giants, cloud city of course.
Lava and Plasma planets I would assume would be very similar just shielded platforms with connecting passageways.
and I would like to fight inside POCOs, POSes, and outposts.
air to air map, Two MCCs are approaching an objective and can launch fighters and missiles to attack one another and try to slow down or destroy the enemy MCC. players could launch from inside the MCC or if technical issues prevent that spawn at a high altitude inside their fighter.

For a PVE mode and leading into crafting system "Assault on the Sleeper Hive". Pretty much you are attacking a sleeper hive to get more of the neruo-clusters from their brains that make cloning and synaptic transfers possible from one clone to another as described in the book. As a corp this could make cloning cheaper or cheapen the cost of implants if you ever implement them. |

JohnnyAugust wrote:Urban combat would be wonderful. Tight alley ways, only certain directions vehicles can go. Templar One mentioned industrial complexes that had living quarters/apartments on base. You could effectively make a great little bazaar, shopping area, homes, along with an industrial district (size limiting).
Big expansive terrain maps are great, throw in a little urban combat would round things out really nicely. I'm talking choke points, flanking routes, big straightaways that beg for gunfights to happen in them from behind the best cover you can muster. Multiple story apartment buildings you can get good vantage points from. I'm imagining a dropship putting troops down in the middle of a small city to storm an objective.
Cloaked recons hiding behind trash waiting for the assaults to pass through. Dropships giving support fire, air vehicles have a hard time picking targets. Entire buildings being vaporized from orbit!!!!
Hell, you could even make vertical maps that progressed up the the 10 story structures that are the skyfire batteries (in E3 video) and biorecylicing towers in the current maps. Johnny, that's my fits specialty. The close quarters combat seen back in a 2009 video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BUlJbah93tM ... would make my fit cause many tears to be shed. large buildings that we can run through and maybe jump from a few buildings to another. Scouts being able to reach more places obviously because of the better jump height.
JAG wrote:Would definitely like to see various maps corresponding to EVE planetary industrial facilities.. For each planetary type. Command centers with their

space elevator extraction facilities storage manufacturing etc.
Seeing maps like that would really reinforce the message that EVE and Dust are tied together.. Not to mention the delicious tears from PI industrialists when they see the writing on the wall.. Would also love to see Dust expanded to include POS and station attack/defense missions.. Would love to see fights inside these structures. I could see the larger maps becoming areas worth putting PI installations there that could be attacked by other corps that believe you to be messing with their extractions from the planet.
Space Elevator would be a major one to see as that is becoming the way to get resources to space. ( i believe ) The notion of the Dust and EVE link by just the installations we fight on is a must.
I could see Dust becoming a 'sandbox' game. With certain hostile planets for exploration that you could find old installations that could have items to sell on the market or something for research if ever put into the game. Maybe a capsuleer had decommissioned his PI within a certain amount of days you could go salvage with a varient of the dropship.
Also, If more station areas are opened up later on for Dust mercs ( as the war room is first social area for dust ) being able to have battles in some of these stations would be interesting. When PvE is brought in i could see drone hives causing stations to have to hire someone to clean them out. That could lead to more game mode options for PvE players. |

Stargates. Attakcers lockout it out and defenders keep it online much to the dismay and frustration of EVE FCs.
Weather effects could have adverse effects on dropsuit and vehicle systems similar to Incursions.

can we have underground facilities? also under sea?
seeing mountainous land/ sky can get a bit samey even if it is pretty.
also would be good if view was obscured by heavy dust storms.
speaking of which - I think it would be great if ccp worked on a weather system for the planets? this could affect water levels, lava levels, dust particles etc. by much more dynamic than static maps |

I don't think it has been said, but I'd like to see a night oriented map where you can see the planets, moons, and constelations. Sort of similar to the amazing views from space that we get to see in Eve; just from the ground. |

yeah fighters would be cool, as well as fighter bombers (two-crew members required), and dropships to board the enemy MCC once the shields have been breached and their are a few holes in it. |

Heres a couple ideas that can be implemented in what we already have, might help speed getting them into a test-able form
Gallente/ Amarr versions of the bases we have now, slap those on the end of Craterlake like the other two are, and viola, new beta-testable maps!
To set up the capital boarding ideas, start by allowing defenders to board the MCC and wreak havoc/pod the pilot in a similar fashion once attacker clones dip under a certain number. Just incase nobody trained dropship skills, spawn one or two militia ones when it opens up, and if those pop before an MCC spawn is captured, defenders have to regroup on A/B/C, giving the attackers some hope (with clone count so low, they're losing by this point). |

After a few days at work doing QA I had plenty of time to think about GÇ£A: I was missing out on EVE & DUST,GÇ¥ GÇ£B: What would be a cool map?GÇ¥ I came up with a couple ideas divided as such.
Short to medium term: I'd love to see Racial maps.
I want to see an Amarr area with fields, agricultural processing area, slave quarters, shuttle port and a big fancy golden Amarr villa. Think 1800's American South plantation taking Barry Bonds' steroids.
A Gallente megamall (think Mall of America with multiple floors, basements, service tunnels) complete with parking lot (make a great LZ for drop ships) and a free fire zone in the food court.
I'd like to see a fortified Caldari Megacorp campus (think Microsoft in Seattle or the Googleplex in Santa Clara) with multiple buildings, rooftop access (so you can snipe from the roof tops or air-assault in via the roof), and big cheesy corporate landscaping.
For the Minmatar, make it a ruined urban map, house to house in the bitterest sort of fighting. The kind of map where no quarter is given or asked. Stalingrad, Berlin or the Battle of Manila x 10 to the nth degree. Lots of rubbled out areas with mouse holes to snipe through.
Also, while this game seems to be set up as a strafer, I'd like to see more tactical driven play, reinforced by the maps. It galls me as a former soldier to see people dancing, running in circles and jumping to avoid fire. I know I'm being silly, asking for realism, when EVE spaceships act more like flying submarines than spaceships but still. . .the existing maps look like a MOUT training site and I'd like to see it a little less game like and a little more real
Long term:
A lot of good ideas have already been spit out. +1 to the ideas from dust.org. I've mentioned it before, and will again. I'd like to see modifiers to the environment on planets based ont eh astronomical data in EVE. Some of that data is a bit wonkey (and would need to be adjusted) , but I think gravity changes, surface pressure, lighting etc would all be cool and would give each planet a GÇ£flavor,GÇ¥ like the effects different wormholes have.
Also, long term, I'd like to see maps for all the different PI facilities in game, Spaceport, storage areas, processing facilities of all types, and extractor areas
As for the different planet types, there is a lot of NASA imagery around. Barren planets as riffs on Mars, the Moon & Venus. Ice like Titan, Io, or take your pick of any Icelandic glacier. One interesting note, the US Army had an under ice base in Greenland during the Cold War. Lava, I'm all in for a Riddick Crematoria style. Ocean, I want to see GÇ£smallGÇ¥ island maps and underwater facilities (space stations but underwater, all indoors). Gas planets, damn f I know but I keep coming back to Bespin. . . Plasma. . . I am stumped as well. . . |

I would like to see a map where instead of having to capture a series of points one team would have to defend a bridge, that grants access to an underground city. A city that was home to political refugees. the battle could center around either detonating or stopping the detonation of a series of explosions that would cripple the bridge. if the defenders hold out long enough then help would arrive to safely escort them off world. if the attackers should take the bridge then they could in turn become the defenders trying to hold out until they could remove the hostages for ransom.
map 2
Royal family members that escaped from their kidnappers. have been stranded on a planet, (long ago abandoned for military testing), their escape craft was attacked by rebels as they fled and managed to make it a couple of planets away before being forced to land due to a atmospheric leak. as they were landing they managed to contact a friendly armada on the way to the planet under siege. having enough soldiers to hold out against an assault for a little while they must hold til the help arrives. after transmitting their coordinates they find that the enemy has landed on the planet also, but neither side is able to get reinforcements because of a raging storm in the planets atmosphere. the team that manages to hold the radio beacon at the end of the storms raging will be the first to claim victory.
map 3
A full out assault on a ice planets major slave station (mobile station), where the stolen stripper slaves of the imperial harem collection are being hidden until a buyer can be found. complete with collapsing walls of the canyon's glaciers to try and block the path that the station is on. ice towers can be equipped with turrets that can be either used to attack the station or to defend the path to escape. once on the open ice the temperature plummets to a minus -360* in which the station can make it's escape as the attackers are not equipped to withstand the cold.
map 4
how about a forest map on a newly seeded planet that has just been declared habitable. factions could battle for locations to establish cities and set up defenses,
map 5
an entire planet of water with one big island only that has massively huge amounts of underground resources for the taking who will emerge as the owner in this conflict.
map 6
The planet is on the final stages of collapsing into space particles and the battle rages over the only space/planet-side port with not enough seats to go around who will make it off the planet alive. and oh yea the timer is running out

For me the best map idea would be a nice simple barren landscape, somewhere where HAV's, LAV's, and dropships rule because there is so much empty space. Add in some settlements where vehicle support is more difficult to give the infantry somewhere to fight for. |

I think combat on the MCC would be great too, a good defense is a good offense. Possibly destroying it from the inside as well as attacking it from the outside. And of course having it shake when the shields go down and it gets hit by the turrets. This isn't really a different map, just another way of doing the objective of the current map. |

I would like a game/map type where our dropships pilots have to insert kill teams on a, "Cloud City" like platform. The fighter pilots would have to provide fire support for this operation to work. This game/map type will have a limit number of sorties.
The defenders would have access to send their own sorties. Some examples of sorties includes, sending fighters to attack the attacking teams ships or maybe having dropship pilots send kill teams to assassinate the captain of the MCC or WarBarge. If the the Defenders manage to hold them off for a set time or other objective set by the designers, then they would win the match outright.
However, if the attacking teams manage to land on the base, then the match transitions to the next gameplay scenario. Example, the attacking teams have to hack an specific computer and get back to the LZ. The fighter pilots for the attacking teams, at the same must maintain air superiority. Because, if the defenders still have fighters pilots with ships/clones then they might be able to blow up the Dropship with the data on it.
I know that this needs to be fleshed out more, I'm drinking now. But I digress, please lend your brain power either negatively or positively to expand this. |

Um dunno if this was mentioned already i was reading suggestions away but my head nearly exploded with the creativity people have here nice work fellas,
One suggestion i would have would be is a map set in a place with high levels of maybe AI troops or civies examples include faction military bases, occupied cities, or maybe even a full out war zone on a planet with the likes of the minitar republic trying to take back a slave world off of the amarr both sides call in re-enforcements from the dust mercs to help win the battle or take out stratigic targets such as artillery bases or a command centre, the AI in my opinion should be quite weaker than dust mercs but out number them greatly so that we couldn't just steam role them to the extent the AI troops are just general infantry, also this could lead to the ability for the dust mercs to call down reinforcements of mabye a 8 man squad of AI troops |
