Underground Tunnels.
This might be alot of fun. Imagine a cave complex in 3D with huge tunnels winding around with a central mining complex. This could work well with Vehicles especially drop ships. Vehicles only able to be call in two locations where there is a opening to the surface.
If built well then the dropship can fly through tunnels which are protected by turrens, which are in turn accessable by ground forces, but tanks forced by steep rock formations into certain directions.
I am thinking something like this. http://www.spain-holiday.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2010/09/Nerja-Caves.jpg

Battlefield 2142 had these "Titan" maps.
Basically, you had 4 ground shield generators to hack and take down, which removed the "Titan's' (same principle as an MCC) shields.
Once shields are lowered, attackers would the jump onboard drop ships and land on the Titan.
Defenders would try to shoot down drop ships.
Once in, they would then fight their way up until the reactor core and damage it to the point of unstability.
They would then have 1 minute to escape back to ground safely.

A planet that looks like the concept art that flashes up on screen when you scrolled over the first build of the beta in the PS3 bar thing.
I would also like to see a map that's a giant Amarrian city, with a fantastic skyline that people will notice even while trying to viciously kill one another.
Or a map with lava flows, and if anything touches them it is almost immediately destroyed.
My last idea is a basic map that actually takes place at night instead of during the day (for atmosphere), and is like a heavily fortified Skyfire cannon.
*Edit* And a space station. That would also be cool. |

I really would like to see a map with areas of dense forests. Of course have some clearings for vehicles and instillation deployment, but i think having much of the map covered with sections of tightly backed trees were only foot soldiers can move through would be a good change of pace for an fps. |

lol, on this note, why not some places that are resorts, or really ideal conditions for some long walks on the beach? i mean its nice to have vibrant places that are full of dangerous things, or dead things, or vegetation that could kill you, but thats not the only inviroment right? how about species? or even a planet thats fuzzy, i dont mean hairy but with a kind of mass of life and moss put together?
gameplay to be considered, shouldn't it be a territory defense, or team deathmatch, or any variant presented be initiated by the movements in eve? and if that's the case, maps should simply be designed for where people will ingage and not where we want them to be right? so maybe all we will see on launch is a bunch of mining operations we have to sabatoge, or drilling platforms to defend. I am not excited to think on this notion, but i just hope that wherever we may land our troops, that they are accurate representations of the current assignments inviroment.
also, i would really like to see unicorns. >.>; please.... or maybe unicorn paint job for my tank? that would be radical dude! |

Think Starship Troopers meets Beetlejuice. (I suck at pitching btw) Maps should have environmental and planetary problems/obstacles
I think it would be cool to have some form of Indigenous creature all of a sudden fly in ( Pterodactyl), overrun the match field ( a herd of bulls-type creatures or swarms of locust type creatures), or rise up from the ground (Enormous Sand Worm) that both sides have to deal with. Could change the momentum of the match or even things up depending on who is out in front.
Dealing with these creatures can be an individual job or a group effort for the larger scale creatures.
-The birds of prey might swoop in and remove a tank from battle or bring down a dropship or two. -The worm might sense movement on the ground like in Tremors (kevin bacon ftw) and wipe the foot soldiers off. -The locust Swarm or herd might just be a temporary inconvenience that the players have to survive or it deems one portion of the map unusable until the creatures pass. -Environmental problems could occur too - where a thunderstorm disables all electrical equipment temporarily (Knife fight time!), or a sandstorm makes it impossible to see anything that isn't two feet infront of you and downs every dropship in the sky.
We are going from Planet to Planet - there should be some environmental backlash.

It appears third-party, violent "commercial breaks" like animal attacks are getting popular. Hmm... Moving on.
I now have an idea for a mode.
Attrition Similar to Conquest, only instead of capturing points, control is based on how far the battle lines have moved. >Objective : Advance to the enemy's end of the map, drain clones, or kill the enemy MCC first to win! No null cannons however. >Spawning : Players spawn at their choice of near or far from the current front-line, and they spawn the requisite distance within their territory. >"Capturing" Territory : This mode would be more organic, as territory and spawning is generated by where most of the (uncloaked) troops are, and drawn to your end of the map unless you're outflanked and cut off. >Size : Only large 100+ playercounts should be attempted here. Maps would be LONG, likely spanning the distance between two facilities in a district. |

I'm not sure if this has been mentioned, but I'd really like to see a Normandy invasion situation. Storm the beaches! Mortars all around from the missiles on the cliffs above. You can't call in dropships or tanks because they'd be downed in transit. There are a few spawn points and a few assault locations, but this would be a situation where the defender has the advantage.
This wouldn't be a map that ended in the command center docking, but rather a battle to take the cliffs which are a strategic point to enable the large command ship to arrive. |

along with destructive and interactive maps i would like to see the terrain naturally change through the course of the match. for example on an ice planet (map) i think it would be cool if the ground would crack under your feet and eventually give, like if a tank drove over a thin layer it would fall through the ice revealing a new section of the map. or on a lava map have a volcano explode off in the distance and then it begin to rain ash and lava cut off sections of the map. ETC ETC i mean i know this probably cant happen but since if some of planets are uninhabitable then shouldnt that mean unstable and have all kinds of climate changes like i mentioned above. i want the map characteristics to go much farther than just lightning storms or cloudy planets limiting vision. also i think it would awesome if when we destroyed a ship in orbit that perhaps the battle didnt just end ther but kept on going and that throughout the remainder of ther match we could see our handiwork via it raining ship chunks and if it were big enough making the thing crash right on top of us or making the MCC crash and the only way for us to escape iminate death would be to either blast it into smaller pieces (attackers) or reach the only escape pods on the planet (defenders) within a certain amount of time. i think thats what it would really be like in dust and make it more realistic, yes im sry but i kinda stole this from a couple other games (lost planet 2, star wars) but it would be awesome dont you think?
(sry to repost this but thought it may get more attention on here, at least i added to it before i did) |

I would like to see maps such as the current ones expanded to include the insides of the buildings rather then just giant paperweights built on the planet. I used to play CnC renegade and I was extremely impressed by how much they had fleshed out what the inside of each building contained. (ie barracks had a field hospital, living quarters, mess hall, fitness room, entertainment area etc) I think if the defenders had for one more buildings explaining where they heck they are coming from and defending (such as barracks, weapons factory etc) and those buildings were fleshed out so that they included interiors it would not only provide more space to fight in but add greater feeling that you are defending your side for a reason instead of just being told for some reason you are.
Further more you could tie the current supply drops to these buildings and have an access point you need to hack to access the fitting menu currently used. Then the building would make your unit and on top of that it would give players a reason to explore these buildings.
Examples- Barracks, Tank factory, Weapons Factory, Aircraft Factory.
On top of this could be buildings such as Airfields for dropping off supplies, or neutral buildings that could be taken for increased advantages. ie automated drones etc.
(Since I have several ideas each rather different Im going to put them in separate comments) |

I would like to see maps take place in the middle of third party wars.
This follows along the concept of neutral critters affecting the game, however instead of critters its actually 2 full factions going at it and you and Your enemy find yourselves caught in the crossfire.
Example-
Urban environment- For example Capital city of Random Planet X
This city is divided into 5 zones.
3 along the mid and one top one bot for the teams controlled points.
on west is residence, mid is commercial and east is the capitol building along with walls and defenses etc.
Top and bot are both walled facilities controlled by rival corporations
At first your battle primarily takes place going along the top to bot and probably has little to do with east west. A randomly generated threshold of collateral damage will set off a trigger causing a riot to occur originating from the west residence areas. The concept is they are tired of war and blame their government for hosting your facilities. This battle at first is contained in the west as police forces fight back the rioters. As the police force falls the battle moves into your primarily used mid area (commercial zone)
This is where things become interesting. In the residential zone the rioters only have access to small arms such as pistols with a very rare sniper rifle or assault rifle in the mix, however as the battle progresses and the rioters take control of different control points in the commercial zone (pawn shops, the police HQ etc) they begin to become more well equipped and an increasing problem for the players.
There is a counter trigger which is set off after a certain amount of collateral damage occurs within the commercial zone or one of the rioter bots happens to come across a palace member (guard etc) which then causes the palace forces to respond with a force that could be considered Overkill. This is the point where the neutral forces become less annoying/random extra kills and more, We have a problem as the palace forces will attack any within the commercial zone.
On top of this if the rioters happen to take control of any of your facilities They become a much greater force and have a chance at overtaking the palace force which, should they do, would grant them access to weapons which would make them capable of starting an assault on your facilities.
(this idea builds off the previous one where buildings are fleshed out and have purposes such as weapons factory)
Now this concept is probably too involved for most game developers to take seriously for a single map however if even a part of it is used I consider that a win. |

I saw the new Total Recall trailer lastnight and got to thinking it would be really awesome to have a few "special ops" maps where you are tasked with infiltrating known headquarters or a terrorist's hideout on a major city on the planet's surface. I know it's not the grand warfare that Dust514 will be mostly known for, but there were still dropships in Mass Effect 2, and all out cityscape battlefields in Mass Effect 3. I really would like to see some great planetary strategy as well based on what battle you choose to take first (Slay, or Risk type strategy - should I infiltrate the headquarters and fight in the city, which gives an advantage if taken early, or should I go for the cloning facilities which gives unlimited clone reserves for other battles on the planet?) I'm probably off topic... :)

Forums Veteran wrote:Zero/low gravity map(s) (like Halo Reach & Shattered Horizon)
This is just a simple combination of two good ideas. If you're boarding a ship it's obviously already damaged. Let the artificial gravity be in various forms of failure. Let parts of the ships be destructible so that a poorly aimed shot could de-pressurize whole sections and suck the team out into the void, etc. etc.
My other idea is simply a game mode but I wanted to throw it out there. That Dusters could enter themselves in the "Arena" and act as gladiators. They could get patronage from Corps. and in exchange for victories the gladiators (and their pilot Corps.) would gain ISK and prestige that would effect standing with the factions.
Regular combat will most likely do that as well so I propose that in the controlled context of the Arena Gladiators and their patrons can only gain standing and never lose it. Also in the Arena, friendly fire controls should be allowed in matches (for lower purses and prestige.) (There should be no friendly fire controls in combat.)
And players, pilots and Dusters alike should be encouraged to bet on the matches. |

Naval battles: The dropsuits could have propellers to bring them forward without the loss of shooting while moving. There could be special dropsuits and weapons that also work under water so they could dive. The types of ships could be cruisers, submarines, fast attackboats and aircraft carriers where runway based planes could take off. They have a fitting system like other vehicles and could be very expensive. |

Planetary Overtaking (just for Corp battles):
On every battlefield on a planet there are battles at once. After all battles have ended the remaining clones of the attackers were counted (just clones from battles where they were victorious) and splitted in as many attack troops as outposts are controlled by the hostiles. Then those attack troops attack the remaining enemys outposts. Then they were counted and splitted again until every outpost is controlled by the attackers. Maybe every hour they get 100 clones to the total amount.

A storm planet that takes place inside of a stucture. The storm outside could interfere with base electronics and cause lights to dim. Maps could be organic and give you the option to open hangar doos to the storm causing EMP to interfere with the map, for example.
More to come...
I love the fighting in POS, that would give Dust merc's even more power in the Eve universe, not that they won't have an impact as things stand, but to really take part in system battles, that would be something. Station combat as well... |
