I want to see a lot of variety in the maps which is a huge deal for me. Fighting of the same terrain over and over can get a little boring and repetitious.
A few ways to help with that is make them versatile. One time you start from the north, east, south, west. Basically the same map has 4 within it. The red would be the deciding factor of where is off limits.
Also make somethings appear some times and not others such as a road or a house or industrial building whatever long as it kinda changes the map terrain a little make it feel like it's a new map. This would add to load times but it's speedy fast already which is nice very nice. hope that helps. |

A close-quarters city where its infantry only but still have a MCC and turrents on rooftops. Imagine like 15+ building all of them with different ways to get inside one another. Some could have sandbags setup on the roof, some could have bridges between them, (maybe inter-skyscraper type). |

Yet another idea... This one is a full concept map. Divinity : an Amarrian temple/barracks, placed on a mountaintop so high that it pierces the planet's constantly dense cloud layer. Visiting pilgrims have a sensation of being in Heaven itself, hence the title. There is a hidden airbase with a Batcave-style opening in the cloud-covered section of the mountain.
CQC inside the top building, with vehicle and installation combat up the treacherous roads and passes. Going through the clouds about 3-4/5ths up means low visibility and all that entails. MCCs usually sit inside this layer until attackers reach the main base.
Modes supported : Skirmish, Ambush. Other modes possible. |

For a map idea I would like to see a underground map because there is always something "Top Secret" hiden undergound and it makes sense that someone would pay to get that info what ever the price maybe. |

But i would love that the ship would be attacked from inside, if you are in the waiting room, waiting to go to battle and the enemy team would storm the ship and attack it from inside.. so when you are in the waiting room you could be attacked! |

How about an idea where you have a standard ground war with an orbital infiltration at the same time. Let me clarify....
You have a standard attackers/defenders ground war where the attackers are trying to capture parts of an enemy base. But the attackers are constantly getting bombarded by an orbital defense station (that say hits with an emp that drops your shields constantly, or that immediately destroys vehicles making them not a viable weapon for the attackers). But only bombarded enough to make the attack harder, not impossible.
Then you also have a spawn point on the orbital defense station where the attackers are trying to disable/destroy the station and stop the bombardment on the troops below. Then the odds are evened up for the attackers on the ground once they take the station.
This would kind of make the attackers on the ground hold back or be more careful until their buddies up above stop the rain of fire. And all of this would be going on at the same time to prevent the defenders from camping the orbital station because they cant leave the base undefended. So you have to manage how many people are on the ground and in the station.
Also sorry if this idea has been proposed... only read through the first few pages before I posted. |

Think of it this way, a border station between, for example, Minmatar and Gallente space. Could be cool. |

How about a gas giant battle? You try to siege a huge gas refinery control hub as an Attacker and as a defender, you have to (of course) stop the attackers. As for the map itself, I'd imagine a large facility with a sort of urban-sprawl feel on some sort of hovering system. And you can fall off of the map into the gas giant's atmosphere while you get crushed by several tons of pressure. Of course the map is a little open around the edges to allow for a few LAVs and maybe a HAV once in a while. Then, I'd suggest the control points be near said edges, making the map sort of triangle shaped. The center would be a space elevator, sending the refined gases to the ships in upper-orbit. It would be more of a 'King-of-the-Hill'-type of map. I suggest there be bunkers and you have to enter them in order to take a control point. On one side of this Triangle map, there's a sort of platform where soldiers from the attacking team are dropped into the battle. Add in a little cover, and maybe a few cool sci-fi elements, and then this could become a standard gas giant control battle. I feel that the tight and up close feel will add to the intensity of this battle. Well, that's what I think what one map could be for DUST 514.

I REALLY like the idea of faction warfare/storyline missions. I think those would separate this game setting apart from being just another space shooter and bring new players into the EVE setting in a very visceral way.
I also like the idea of breaking into a locked-down corporate interior site with the goal of stealing plans/equipment/industrial sabotage...etc. In my head I picture of brightly lit Caldari corporate office onboard a station with mercs attempting to bypass security lockdowns to reach the "vault" area, sort of in a BF2142 titan interior battle sort of way where you had to bring down security walls one at a time in order to reach the core...minus the constant nade spamming though :p
Also a big fan of the limited/no respawn "assassination" SOCOM style ideas. I think tactical scenarios such as those would really fit into the EVE feel and give an immediate sense of purpose and a do or die vibe that would fit great with the setting. |

people might've said both of these already but reading all 13 or 15 pages is a bit much atm lol so the two planet maps i want most would be a tropical jungle map with hostile wildlife so its a three way match instead of just one side versus another.
my second map idea is my favorite but fighting on asteroids i think it'd be interesting to have a match on an actual asteroid while mining or on a asteroid colony. personally i like the idea of implementing a form of mining for dust as well even if it is an fps.... big laser blast rocks pew pew... o look a hulk... *busts out forge gun* "MY ROCKS!" *pew pew pew* meanwhile in the hulk.... *thud ding thud* hmm someone shooting me... points mining lasers... back to forge gun "why wont he die!.. whats he doing now...." *sees laser* "awww no fair" *wakes up at CRU* "SOB!" you get the picture. |

how about a pvpve map where you have parts of the map where its both sides fighting the rouge drones and then it shifts towards the end to a tdm game. like a remote outpost with no back up. and the opposing sides have to work together to cull the tidalwave of salvage drones before the have a chance of claiming the "prize"
or just a straight up tdm with drones all over the battlefeild. |

@brass : ok... i'm guessing you want a mode that shifts to require both sides to fight the rogue drones. They could actually pull that with any mode, just have the Rogues attack a random battle depending on unknown factors. Once that occurs, the game mode immediately shifts to a survival mode, where they have to hold off a certain wave count, depending on system security status. If the drones are all killed, the match returns to normal. Think a commercial break that can "Assimilate" you. |

I would love to see a truly open expanse map. I'm talking huge map here. One where tanks and assault dropships would reign. I'm imagining like 10 or so tanks per side with gunships and support drop ships flying around everywhere. This map could be located in a super highly contested area where the biggest of big corps are stationed and have the ridiculous finances to back this kind of battle.
On a slight side note as well I would like to see the vehicle corpses stay around longer. Either time their decay longer or require that it be destroyed further with heavy weaponry. It just adds realism to the battlefield. It would also provide another element to a truly changing battle field. At one first a certain avenue was easily defended but now that there are a few blown out tank carcasses the attacker has some cover to advance behind. |

I'm sure some others have already noticed this, but the BETA is actually moving through several complexes all within view of one another on the same planet. Although I get the distinct feeling this is district battles as intended in a localized region, one idea that I had is sort of a multipronged progression towards the central structure of the planet similar to how were moving right now, but with 7 battles all going through the same battle sequences with slightly different maps towards the central structure...
I admit freely I'm worried that these same maps are going to be excessively recycled. I'd like to think that the distant structures were seeing are LITERALLY parts of the maps were eventually going into being rendered in the distance, and these maps were playing on are actually configured in a pattern on the surface of a larger map moving in towards the end objective. When defenders win its not just skill points, but a point held and a chance for a counter attack as we get pushed back to the last map, when attackers win, they advance to the next map, and the stakes move up again...
Granted this will all be clarified upon release... But honestly, I'd like to see more of this sort of speculation on how the maps tie together, on how the districts co-operate, and on EXACTLY how much variability we will see on maps because it could make this game either INCREDIBLY satisfying or incredibly disappointing...
If every Barren planet has the same 5 maps recycled for the same 5 types of battles, with 3 or four structures also recycled, then I'll be disappointed... Each type of battle needs to be AT LEAST in the double digits of variability... I'm not worried about balance, and they should be worried either, each map should have balance leaning one way or another, and then you know what you have to push through to win... But more importantly, upon release, the game should have enough variability, that someone attacking a planet for the first time shouldn't know ALL the spawns, the exact hiding spots, and just how it functions based on the recycling of the map from another planet... That would be disappointing...
The coolest prospect of this game for me and my friends was actually that you would NEED to have a good on the fly ability to strategize and work as a team, not the sort of pre-built comprehension, of I know how this map works this is what we have to do now...
Granted for your home-worlds, or places you are defending frequently, this sort of intimate understanding makes sense, but NOT if you are out attacking frequently...
Honestly this should have been in a seperate thread, but oh well.. |

Always wanted to have a map in a skyscraper. Perhaps 4 linked with narrow walkways with a huge platform constructed in the middle of them. I could make a mock up version of this.... It wouldn't be to the level of detail as a map created for DUST but would show a basic layout. |

Environmental hazards with health, shield, armour penalties/corosion for logistics, support to have jobs to do. Battles in the player chillout lounges, capture corp lounges so they have to set up base elsewhere or sabotage the fitting suites, upload fake intel into the star map for ambushes would be wicked. |

Fighting inside a warehouse or something would be so cool, not to mention have epic gun battles and such, isolated from the vehicular combat taking place outside. Having a hacking station or something inside it would be a good idea - essentially, its an indoor flag capture, full of containers, hiding holes, work machinery. And if CCP are willing, have moving part and noisy machines to help make it unpredictable and interesting - most games wouldn't offer a changing indoor environment, CCP should definitely look at that.
Another idea I had would be like some sort of high point on a map, reachable only by aircraft or a very long set of stairs, like a temple or something. It would add large scale vertical game play, and would be one HELL of a fall-back position when sh*t hits the fan for the retreat. Maybe even have a one way shaft leading back down towards to ground for some crazy ninja stuff. I thought of this in like 2 mins, if you guys really think it could work, I could forge these into full ideas full of detail (bearing in mind exploits, game balance etc - I designed maps for CCS, unofficial ones of course) |
