For these it would be awesome if you had to be in mecha gear, due to the environment. Then it would be mech on mech battles. With tanks and such as well. Maybe if your out of the mech suit the heat deals damage to you slowly overtime. |

I would like volcanic tornadoes. Doesn't have to be on a lava planet or anything, These things happen on temperate planets like earth. Look: http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Chs3f35K3gE/Tkdmc3-jJHI/AAAAAAAAADI/zSAtoevkVBY/s1600/tornadooovolcanooo.jpg |

Would also love to see Dust expanded to include POS and station attack/defense missions.. Would love to see fights inside these structures.
as a bunny with teeth in eve I to would very much love to see this, the tie in is very important part of the storyline, and pos/station warfare should eventually be part as well. |

Ok so this idea is WAAAAAY out there, but what about being able to fight on asteroids. Perhaps in order to get the necessary materials for some vehicles your EVE friend is mining away, unknown war barge comes, and mercs. start blowing up roids, setting up impromptu bases and start shooting at the miner. Crazy low gravity while on spinning platforms ensues, as your warbarge unloads a counter strike. |

Wormhole temperate planet PI maps.
I'd like to see some maps with some sort of crystal formations. They could either be just decorative obstacles/cover, or maybe some type of resource. (trade good to eve players maybe?)
Maps of older civilizations that were on that planet previously...Ruined cities or temples.
I too would like to see some non-merc life on at least some of the maps. Plants, animals, non-combatant civilians (that you can still kill anyway)
I also like the ship/station infiltration angle.
What about maps that changed over time, due to planetary seismic activity and/or eruptions/weather. Like the landscape would start out one way, but as the battle progressed, the planet would shift, changing the landscape of the battlefield, sometimes dramatically. Chasms could open up, needing dropships or a drop uplink on the other side to circumvent. Mountain ranges could push up from the ground, as the tectonic plates rolled against each other. (Screw my other ideas, do this one, it sounds really cool.)

1) I would assume "Majan" is possibly correct in some language considering how the letter "j" is pronounced differently in different languages. He might have learned in another language, then again he might not and he's just incorrect. IDK. 2) Mayans are not extinct, the ethnic group is still around today, and was still around. The culture that characterized the civilization was still active, it just was not at its peak. I have seen multiple documentaries about the conquest of the Mayans http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mayans#Colonial_period
It troubles me when people are so confident about things they are wrong about. |

Ok I have 2 suggestions. First and most important you need to sort out the shield, health, weapon damage levels. When you shoot a whole assault rifle clip into someone they should die! Currently you need to reload at least once every time you try to kill someone, I know there are skill upgrades to give you extra damage but still one full clip should be a kill no matter what.
Second you need a chat feed in the merc quarters. At the moment you have to press select to bring up the chat, which is fine for saying something, but there should be a window displaying what others are saying at all times like you find in every other online game, you only have to press select to respond to people.
There are a few other things but I can not rember what they are at the moment.
Other than that I think you guys at ccp are doing a great job and I look forward to seeing the game when it is ready for relese.
Sorry put this in completly the wrong place |

Something that would really add a since of variety to planets that otherwise look very similar would be different kinds of lightning. Increased brightness, decreased brightness, combined with a variety of colored lighting would create a lot of visual and color diversity. |

When DUST is ready for more planet types, do remember very few planets are purely one climate-type. Temperates : should have just about every climate/surface type in New Eden, usually except plasmas and gas-giant conditions. Scientifically this might actually help balance the overall planet to allow life to grow. Remember this when district-mapping. Storm worlds : are likely liquid-covered with small islands, after all those clouds are fed by SOMETHING. Ice worlds : might be recently-frozen Oceanics, so some cases might have the surface facilities for delerict underwater cities sticking out of the ice Plasma : Can go anywhere, but will likely look like Lava worlds, just blue with plasma-lakes instead of red with magma ones. Lava : Heres a wiki article. If anything, i want this effect if there are active volcanoes on top of the magma-lakes. Other than that, Star Wars ep. III gives a good idea for a Minmatar facility. |

One thing that has always bugged me about shooter maps is that CQB is synonymous with "small map."
But think about the Big Shell from MGS2. Most of your combat is CQB inside the structures. You can set security on the walkways with LMGs and sniper rifles because they're choke points and long-range engagements. With a sniper rifle, you can possibly shoot from one walkway to another. There are helipads that VTOLs can drop off/ pick up troops at while remaining mostly covered from enemy fire.
While the map wouldn't have to be as massive as the Big Shell, it could take the same approach and still be large as well as allowing for a multitude of different combat styles to be applied. |

A BF2142-esque Titan mode would suit DUST perfectly. In fact, CCP is already half there with the Skirmish game mode. Maybe there could even be a little more interplay between DUST and EVE than orbital bombardments as ships start descend down towards the battlefield.
The basic premise Both teams have a ship hovering over the map. You start out by trying to control the 4 or 5 missile silos that fire at ships. You have to control them long enough to disable the enemy ship's shield to allow infantry to get on-board (a great use for Dropships ).
Now the game becomes a balance of controlling the ground missile silos to either keep up the pressure on the weakened enemy ship or trying to ease the pressure on your faltering ship, and getting on-board/defending the now shieldless ship. Destroy the 4 or 5 door controls and get to its core. Blast at the core or have a long hack-time console and the irreversable self-destruct sequence is triggered, leaving the victorious team to scramble out of harm's way and earn their ISK and SPs in a blaze of fiery glory. Or if the defense it too good, the missile silos eventually take out the ship's hull blow by unrelenting blow. |

Maybe it has been said already but what about a gas planet with toxic atmosphere: no oxygen. There you can only use fighters, no land, because atmophers is unbreathable even with dropsuits gas masks. It would be the perfect explanation for a fighters only maps: I am sure pilots would love planets like that.
It could be the standard planet/map used for Fighters TDM. Specifics for the map coudl be :
-Biggest size maps (5%Km if I am not mistaken) -Two bases one on each side, -Hangars (instead then RDV) with shields protecting the entrance to avoid spawn camping.
Other Fighters only maps/planets: -Planet with breathable atmosphere and with land but land is submerged by a blue acid sea: no installation possible nor land/water vehicles. Also have huge/tall stalagmites go all the way in the air for hundreds of meters so to add challenge for the pilots.
It would be the Ace Combat of Dust 514. |

iwillrock yourworld wrote:Whatever the battle is set, I would like to see the maps with more bottlenecks and less freedom of roaming.
That would value more strategical and tactical gameplay and less running-and-gunning type of gameplay.
I want to feel some feel of realism out of matches, not so much kiddie level of realism regularly found in shooters.
Shooting is fun but a dragged standoff can be as fun since one wrong movement could mean defeat.
In fact, I dont like much the die-respawn-die-respawn game mechanic, but thats another subject and probalby a dead horse already since the game is like that already.
I would also like to see more linear maps that only allows for advancement or defeat. Like stealing a ship in EVE and having a group of mercs land on a space ship or any enemy territory in the stolen ship for espionage reasons. I transport groups of marines in EVE on missions. Those could be real mercs with risks to me in EVE and mercs on DUST if the mission is a failure. No re-spawn is a very fun way to play and it adds to the feeling of victory or defeat to know your team was the right team for the mission or the wrong team. These types of missions are what is needed to allow highly skilled groups of players feel like the game matters. I do not like killing everything in sight every time. A linear map that forces a highly skilled group of 4-8 mercs - with no re-spawn - against a "security force" of 20 - 24 low skilled players with a limited clone bank would be a welcomed change from the run-n-gun, always watch behind you, spawn-camping matches that are sometimes dominated by one or two players. |

Great topic, loads of great ideas. Not sure if its been posted but i would love to see maps of Jovian planets & structures ( i can live in hope i know). Forgotten / abandonded cities tied into the EVE lore. Would like to see a Blade Runner type urban environment, dark, dank & raining a lot. Love the Stargate map idea. Anything were we can affect the EVE universe.

a training map for corporations to get players in their respective roles better to work together (supposing there is no test server available) would be helpful
I could imagine a hangar with dynamic wall/ box/ floor elements to arrange in free or predefined manner to resemble situations on other maps (terrain, structures, ...) so teams of mercs in the same corp can hone their team-play, check out equipement combinations or how to compose their squads
without any kind of reward of course and probably some minor fees
edit: naturally I just found the other topic with a request for this AFTER posting -> https://forums.dust514.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=129382#post129382 |

I would like a battlefield that is vertical as opposed to horizontal like all other combat games seem to emphasize.
The first area that I envisioned would be a jungle-type area with massive trees jutting high into the air, the trees would have folliage above that would consist of two layers, the general folliage, and the tops of the trees(which would be scarce in comparison).
So in general it would look like this Floor 1: Roots and dirt, there are facilities here and many cannons stationed around the designated transport trees.(these are a few of the massive trees that have roads spiralling upward around them) Cannot easily be seen from orbit due to Floor 2 covering all but the openings in the ceiling (ground of floor 2) folliage designed for Dropship use
Floor 2: A vast expanse of folliage with rocks, debris and plenty of twists. Branches are strong enough to support buildings between the limbs, and a system of pathways was built to supplement passage over the dense folliage (tree folliage can be walked across because of its density etc large leaves all matted together that won't give way to weight) The majority of floor 2 is clearly visible from orbit.
Floor 3: A few tops of the trees are outfitted with communications arrays etc.
Combat would either proceed Up the tree to take control of the radio towers (to activate the orbital defenses) or Down the trees to capture the command center at the base of the trees to open the landing bay terminals for the invading ship.(offense)
An orbital strike would have to consider all 3 layers of the system, because if they attack someone on layer 3, it will penetrate all the way to layer 1, making blind barrages a no-no and communication before attacks a must, as the orbiting ships will be blind to the events on floor 1. |
