Hello everyone,
On 9th of December, DUST 514-« will be updated with the release of Uprising 1.10. This update will add a number of features and changes specifically requested by the community and here you will find a brief explanation on the biggest upcoming changes:

Thank god for fixing the exploit on supply depots. That should prevent scrubs from switching suits constantly to gain HP advantages in gunfights. Was fed up with twatts that used a assault suit just so they get low on HP and switch to a sentinel and vaporise you while having 100% health.
Bright is the opposite of dark! Who would have thought of that?!

not sure why the cal logi, who specializes in hives, the most costly of equipment, would have the lower bandwidth than gal and min logi. gal and min specialize in scanners and rep tools, and those items are not penalized with bandwidth at all. |

This is going to change things quite substantially. Logistics have a higher max scan range than scouts.... Sentinels that have reasonable close in scan precision.

I am pretty disappointed. Kind of deflated too. i have Uplinks Lv5, Amarr Logi Lv5, Remotes Lv 5, and nanohives Lv4. You have taken all that SP and compressed it into two minutes. Thats all im allowed to play the game for.
i used to go around setting uplinks with remote mines on them. Cant do that anymore. Used to go around delivering triage nanohives to the front line. Cant do that anymore. Used to go around putting down anti vehicle traps in the from of proxy mines, or anit personnel traps. Cant do that anymore. All i can do is spend 2 mins deploying, and then im supposed to be a subservient player who is FORCED to either repair or revive at the front lines in a non combat suit.
Scouts can use their cloaks anywhere an infinite number to times. Assaults can change to a different weapon/armor setup with no consequences. Slayers can change to a double swarm launcher commando to shoot down a dropship and switch back. Mine is the only role where im not allowed to wield my milions of SP. My unique playstyle is ruined. Everyone else gets to play their role and deploy a bit of equipment an d switch between other roles with no bandwidth.
And what was the problem? Spam? You mean people that drop 50 manohives at a supply depot? Thats not what i was doing. What about all the tryhard PC obsessed players? Are they still able to carry 1 uplink/nanohive in on their favorite proto suit? 6 players each bringing one nanohive is more destructive than the 3 that im restricted to now.
So congradulations, you gutted my role as a dedicated logi while still enabling those who cannibalize my role. You should atleast have the decency to give a free respec to anyone who is a dedicated logi. Im ruined, i got nothing left. I made my living delivering equipment and setting traps. Im a solo player what am i supposed to do now?

That is still entirely possible. This is njot about balance. This is because the slayer obsessed CPM complains that things like lag ruin their farming of noobs and uplinks placed high allow an enemy to have a fighting chance. So they want to make it so that me, a dedicated logi, can only place two uplinks, while they can still place a convenience one anywhere they want.
So when you get into a uneven match, instead of having a dedicated logi placing uplinks to get out of the red line, youll have to walk out yourself. Instead of a cluster of mines taking out that LAV + HMG guy, he will be hyour problem. Instead of some crazy AV guy with remotes running up to the hull of a tank and exploding it, the tank will be able to go on unbothered.
This is meant to stop people from deploying 50 nannohives at a supply depot. Instead of just making a exclusion radius, they decided to destroy an entire role. You wont notice any changes until you need a good spawn or supplies. you wont get any. |

The main changes are the big nerfs to scout scan radius and range amplifiers. The Amarr scout will go back to lolsuit status, Gallente scouts will continue to dominate as shotgun and RE delivery systems. |

Wait so by missions... Hold on, EPIC? This sounds better than khanid cereal in freshly thawed dairy! You mean story is finally being brought into dust, slavage gameplay and looting are upcoming, and in a couple months were looking at a new expansion with player trading, warbarges, and other awesomeness? Don't tease me, this really makes me want to recruit more ppl to this game even though my old recruits all quit playing. Its a shame I have to wait a week to see any of this happen |

The mission system is a 1 to 1 copy from the dayly challenges that where in COD black ops. You got COD points and XP if you accomplished those challenges. Like get 20 kills in a match etc. so not really a new thing there. However i would like to see elite missions which are harder to pull off like get a 10 k/d in a match or win a skirmis match without armor damage on your MCC.

Interesting. I am curious where Legion stands now though. It was a big thing that DUST was not getting anything new. Hotfixes were the name of the game. 1.9 had stuff that was previously worked on and was just being implemented. This stuff though... Bandwidth is entirely new, crates, daily missions, and new warbarge strikes? Makes me wonder if the child that was thrown from the crib when the new baby came about has gotten old enough to smother the screaming baby. But, let's stay positive!
* Supply Depot change is interesting to me. It is like the removal of ISboxer in EVE; "it had been there so long I am surprised that it is being changed." I would have expected a hacking terminal or a delay rather than keeping HP percentages. Will definitely make Logistics a more defined role. A good change in my book.
* More WP for guarding an objective. This one has some potential problems. It means that the Gallente Research Facility will be a total Warpoint ***** for whoever gets there first. With an entire squad guarding the area, you are talking about getting orbitals 25% faster. With current Warbarge Strikes going to cost 4,000, it is going to be a total massacre. Other than that, GREAT CHANGE! Pushes people into the objective and on the new Domination Fracture Road where ALL fighting happens within 50 meters of the point it is going to be some free WP. I like it. As Battlefield tells us: PTFO!
* Enemy orientation will be missed but it is probably for the better. It allowed Scouts to sneak up on people a little bit too easily. However, it is going to make attacking locations swarming with Sentinels more difficult. We will have to see how this works out.
* Bandwidth is a good idea. It was way too much of a free lunch to thrown equipment and swap suits. More focus on support players.
* Daily missions could be cool. It might have people start trying out different gamemodes other than all Domination or Ambush. If the current SP amount stays and Boosters become "you cap faster" with the belief being that most people will not cap out without boosters, I would love to see Missions give out SP that puts you closer to cap modified by Boosters. It gives people so options. "You know, I have never done FW before but my Mission is 'earn 300 WP in 3 Faction Warfare Matches' for 10,000 SP so I guess I will try it out."
* Crates are fine. CCP has had a little bit of a problem with how expensive things are recently. APEX suits and the After Battle Bonus are terrible value. I hope the Keys won't be overly priced. Of course, many people will not have a reason to use the Crates. If I open it up and get an Officer Plasma Rifle, it is worthless to me. In fact, more often than not loot will be useless other than for Jara. Basically: will not be used if there is zero player trading.
* More information on the fitting screen is more better. The only thing I can say is "Why the hell did it take so long?!"
* New Warbarge Strikes are the big one for me. I noticed that Small Laser was not there. I remember that this was mentioned on the forums like a year ago that different flavors would be for different things. If Small Laser "focused, high damage" it could be taking out a few goes on a small building or Railgun Sniper tank. Even ignoring the speculation, 300 WP for a 50 meter EMP is pretty damn cheap. I can see Shield Tanking becoming even less popular with the possible ubiquity of EMP dropping everywhere. Question though: is this WP cost going to deduct from my total WP? Because "I would love to call in that EMP to take out their equipment guys but that costs me 6,000 SP!" I assume it is just "You have 3,000 WP in your Squad. You can call in 10 small EMP or 1 big one."

I would personally like to see racial missions, so as a logi, I have a harder logi mission but greater reward. Mission level, easy, hard, insane then scale the reward based on what level you pick.

Nobody cares about cod. Dust with missions I care about and so what if it starts as based off something else. We've got an agent, now we're gonna have missions, it's like maybe a step away from having agents that you get missions from and maybe some kind of career based paths with different missions based on your role, and thats an EVE thing so sit back and rejoice |

The introduction of Bandwidth is a big and positive step forward in my opinion, but there will have to be additional tweaks made before we get it right.
That being said, I think we will do a better job of tweaking it once we have some hands on experience with it, so lets wait and try it out in-game, reach informed opinions, and meet back here on the forums in about 3 weeks for a thread of constructive feedback.

The introduction of Bandwidth is a big and positive step forward in my opinion, but there will have to be additional tweaks made before we get it right. That being said, I think we will do a better job of tweaking it once we have some hands on experience with it, so lets wait and try it out in-game, reach informed opinions, and meet back here on the forums in about 3 weeks for a thread of constructive feedback. Agreed?

I think you make some good points, and I think the Bandwidth system will have to be tweaked again before they get it right. Just because it is going live in its current form does not mean those stats are final in the long term.
Bandwidth is not intended as an overall nerf to Logi. If it ends up making Logi less viable compared to other suits, then the system will be tweaked accordingly.
DonGÇÖt give up hope for your class. Help guide Rattati to the light.

Agreed. Overall it's going to be a plus. It may need tweaking, but there is a ton of potential for benefit to dedicated logi's.

Read the missions in the image. Calling these GÇ£missionsGÇ¥ might be overstating what they are a little bit. They are more like GÇ£challengesGÇ¥. But still a good step in the right direction.
I see the "missions" and "salvage" as trying to emulate the Gameplay experience they intend for Legion, in DUST, as best they can given DUST's current limiting structure.

I'm assuming the second, which I feel would make the close range passive scans as pointless as the base numbers suggest.
Currently, I'm loving most things in this set of patch notes, but the Close scans are almost pointless except for Scouts. Even a Logi with RA5 (7.5) and three CxRAs (@45%: 18.88) will still have a pretty meh scan range: a shotgun scout covers that distance in a second before blowing your head off anyway. I think it's a great step, its just that the only viable EWar suits look to be Scouts, with the occasional Logi working - an Assault or Commando with 3 CxRA (15.11) has about a second to react to a scout, assuming they aren't dampened mildly, costing you even more slots.
Essentially, I estimate little change happening except that some EWar Scouts will pick up some other Scouts and that everyone will pick up Heavies from further away: the fitting sacrifice to get a half decent Close range is enormous, and the fitting to get a still bad Normal precision is enormous (and won't change.)
I think it's a good step, but the scans will only tell you what you already know: that you've either already been engaged, or murdered, by someone. The penalty to far range scans mean you'll almost never pick up anything but heavies.

Im pretty skeptical. The ideologies are too conflicting. The concept of bandwidth is to limit deployed equipment, but as a good logi, I see that as limits to what I can do. If all my bandwith is locked up in my uplink with a remote mine in top, how am I going to put proxys down? Its like I have 3 choices:
-Place my uplinks and REs as i usually do, and do nothing about the unguarded rear of the bridge, which a HAV or LAV will certainly roll up on
-Decide to place the proxy mines and forfeit the "elastic front line" I had just set up
-Carry both proxies and my uplink gear, but have significantly less of both and consequently, do a half assed job on both parts that doesnt really get anything done or is not nearly as effective.
Right now, my only limits are time and enemy fire. If I cant beat both I can deploy a reinforced supply chain that is durable enough to withstand setbacks. After this patch thats prettymuch over. Everyones solution is prettymuch to just "rep and repair". But that takes away from me developping my own strategies and just leads to me propping up someone elses operation. I play almost exclusively solo. |

And, to be honest, the only people who dont complain about lag are the AFKers. You don't have to be shooting to feel its effects, especially when it gets bad.

As a dedicated Logi, I think you're being overly dramatic. Sure I have droplink suits, and nanohive suits. And I'll still be able to use them. When I drop the gear, it won't pop just because I switch to a different logi suit, it will only pop when I exceed the bandwidth of that suit. So, I can still run around and drop links, switch to my general usage suit and still rep, scan, repair... whatever.
Let's see how it plays out before you rage. |

My guess is CCP finally realized they can inexpensively and efficiently carry over what they learn from Dust into Legion going forward so it would be stupid to stop development altogether.

Yep, new strategy will be to have a rep suit, not as effective as suit swap so still deals with the instant full hp problem.

And what was the problem? Spam? You mean people that drop 50 manohives at a supply depot? Thats not what i was doing. What about all the tryhard PC obsessed players? Are they still able to carry 1 uplink/nanohive in on their favorite proto suit? 6 players each bringing one nanohive is more destructive than the 3 that im restricted to now.
So congradulations, you gutted my role as a dedicated logi while still enabling those who cannibalize my role. You should atleast have the decency to give a free respec to anyone who is a dedicated logi. Im ruined, i got nothing left. I made my living delivering equipment and setting traps. Im a solo player what am i supposed to do now?

It's been said earlier in the thread, but apparently those numbers were reversed. It was the first thing that popped out to me in the patch notes, because I recall the earlier discussion about Amarr/Caldari having the bandwidth "bonus" comparatively.

Scan range module seems a little crappy at 15%, but Ill wait until I play with it some to complain too much
P.S. edited to also agree that the bandwidth values seem to be backwards for min/gal vs. amar/cald, even though the amar/caldari seem to have more bandwidth per slot, given the nature of equipment it seems like they should just have more bandwidth period. |

would be nice if the equipment operation skills helped reduce bandwidth usage too as well as boosting attributes of the equipment itself. rep tool op increase range 2% per level ect, this would help non min logis with a bit extra range whilst also helpin gmin logi further by increasing the range more over others. active scanner could take one of the gal logi skills to boost it, perhaps the 10% scan duration and give the gal logi a +5 degree scan angle per level instead to make it more versatile

(In fact, I made a "ghetto Logi" on my Minmatar alt by using a basic light suit to carry two equipment pieces, as the basic medium doesn't provide the same easy entry into the Logi role, for whatever reason. Why the hell is the Light suit a better entry into the Logi role than Medium? This seems like a major NPE oversight.) Naturally, this could be used to weaken the Logi. But I hope that it's utilized to strengthen the role instead and give it more definition.

The CRU and uplink should have better precision. The range is fine, but they need better precision. Doesn't have to be a lot more, but a little more. Maybe 32 dB.
What demand is there for showing loyalty rank? I haven't seen a single post about it on the forums at all, but I rarely go on to feedback and discussions, so I don't know if all those posts are in that section.
I don't get the circle passive scans at all.
I agree with the dropsuit change at a depot. I'm not an abuser, but I'll switch quickly if someone shows up and I'm not using a sufficient suit.
I also agree with the scan profile for deployed equipment. But........... the Amarr and Caldari logistics should have much higher bandwidth than the Minmatar and Gallente logistics suits. How are they supposed to fulfill their role when they don't have as much bandwidth as the two suits whose bonus doesn't apply to deployed equipment? This really doesn't make sense to me and boggles my mind.
The enemy orientation was screwed up for some time, as some would have the circle and triangle, and others would show a chevron on the minimap. Don't really mind the orientation change much, as I have two scouts and will get Min scout to 5 soon.
As far as adding attributes to the fitting screen, we used to have that a long time ago, including the damage bonus when adding damage mods. I don't remember when that was removed, or why.
Could you post the bandwidth of equipment? I would assume the scanner and rep tools won't have any, which again, makes no sense as they're not deployed equipment. I'm a Gallente logi, so my bonus isn't for nanohives or uplinks. I'm not affected by it, but the Amarr and Caldari suffer greatly for having lower bandwidth at all tiers. This really needs to be changed ASAP.
The new warbarge strikes need some changing.
The current strike doesn't seem to have a 250m radius. It seems more like 50m. And it is 5000 WP, not 4000. It was doubled from 2500.
The high powered one, I would assume the major laser strike, has far too big a radius. That one should be 25m or 30m, not 50. It would be great for taking out a tank, or two that are too close together. That's about its only use.
The major flux strike has far too big a radius. That should be cut down to 100m or so, as rooftops aren't very big. The minor flux is fine, but I don't see the point in having two flux strikes. I remember you saying they wouldn't be as much WP, so dunno why the laser strike is 5000 WP. Major flux strike should be 2500 WP instead of 3000, or maybe less, since it can't destroy suits or vehicles. 1500 or 2000 seems like a fair number. Minor is about right.
So essentially, the heavy suits have the highest passive scan range, while the scout has the lowest? This really doesn't make any sense, and you also posted the heavy suits twice, with the first set of values being higher than the second. Why?
And what do you mean by range amps adding 15%? Are you going to knock off the ADV and PRO, and refund the extra SP used to obtain the ADV and PRO mods?
Don't really care about the lockboxs, as anybody with 5mil SP and over already knows enough to contribute, so those will very easily be obtained. It'll be really easy to obtain multiple, if not half of those in one battle for me. I think it should be tiered by hours played, not SP, because people could log in daily and have passive SP active, but not play on a second account, rather than a second character slot.
I see a lot of good ideas, but most of them need to be changed. The Amarr and Caldari logis are supposed to able to do their jobs, and not be hampered by how much of their own equipment they could put down.

Trello is equivalently a post it note board of sorts with a very strict historical tracker. These are just headline post its were then you can attach more postits beneath each list or topic.
The roadmap is pretty simple for now and likely will remain that way allowing CCP to flex around with how to answer and tell those stories and epics as development progresses.

Barring some misnomers I think this will go over really well
Strongboxes will need to be finely tuned so that they are nothing like the experience of getting ****** loot after having spent the resources to open the box up. Be cool if it gave you choices of what you could pick...maybe just choose out of a few options like heavy medium light or weapon armor module...something there so that you are getting something you wanted.
Daily mission have so much potential. yay
roadmap is awesome. glad everyone is now privy to much of the behind the curtain discussions. good stuff
the concentric circles thing is a start. it'll be a good case study to see how it plays out.
bandwidth could be a blessing if it's actually efficacious enough. obviously the marr and cal are inverted. the biggest decision is how many proto links a person can spam before hitting cap. the harder the cap the less spam a single person can do and the more valuable logi's are (assuming they can go 250% more than scouts)

equipment passive scan I think will be owrthless because 35 is so low. I almost liek the idea of active scanners being a special tool that is far better than passive scans at finding them. In the current iteration a long range scan from a cal is gonna pick them up at 40m with a precision or 2. Same with logi's. I think this will need to be revisited.

Honestly zatara I think 35 db is good because now there will still be a role for scout to fulfil. Since now the scouts wont be the significant slayers anymore it will still be crusial to have them in the team to neutralise hidden equipment and place them.

If you are really that good at listen to the opinion of the crowd the next 'thing' touched by CCP will be removing RE from the game.

Overall I love these changes. I love the process CCP Rattati used to get feedback to help guide the process. I have some concerns about the specifics with the Ewar changes (e.g. I have some Amarr Scout "scout hunter" fits that may become fairly useless), but I have faith in CCP Rattati that we can iterate on these as we go. With the multiple rings, at least we have the framework to make changes--an excellent starting point.
I'm also concerned about the lock boxes. This is a bit pay-to-win-esque, and is really flirting with that line. If this goes down like in Guild Wars 2, then you'll have many more boxes than "keys." this results in a massive oversupply in the market and they sell for next-to-nothing. The result is you can buy tons of officer gear for AUR (assuming they put officer gear in boxes). What makes officer gear work well is that they are exceedingly rare. The loot box mechanic has the possibility of destroying that balance, especially if we get trading (which seems to be on the roadmap). The big fear is that drop rates could start out reasonable, but guys in the business office could be tempted to play with the numbers later to boost revenue. We'd never know about these changes until the market becomes flooded with boxes. I'd prefer if we avoided these altogether.
The thing I'm most excited about though is the roadmap. It's not so much the content in it (which I expect to change), but the fact that we have one. This is a RADICAL change in communication from the Shanghai team, in a very good way! Great job CCP, and the CPM1 guys!

District resources = 1+ and it would help PC a lot.
One thing that caught my eye on the Uprising 1.10 notes was this " Without divulging too much, the next order of business is to improve Planetary Conquest as the gameplay feature all players should aspire to play."
PC shouldn't just be for the pro players, it should be available to EVERYONE. That's why we play Dust 514 to capture planets not to see who has the best gear in the game like really.

Go cry somewhere else - this is a lag fix that 90% of the community wanted - lag doesn't effect only one part of the map, it effects the full map.
And yes I have played logi, and yes I know this restricts things for logi, but it's good for the overall health of the game, which is more important than your exaggerated response to the changes being made.

As usual in every single updates you do there are many great things (all these things about scans, missions, depot, etc.), but they are all the time screwed up by ONE thing. And this time, it's this bandwidth system.
I wish you could open your eyes, play the game for real and remove this idea before it's too late..

Let me explain why with a basic example: At the beggining of a Dom/Skirm, I go with a minlogi filled with kincats/regs and proxies. I put my 15 proxies on the ground to make sure that the tank dies on it. Then I change my suit at the depot because it's useless for combat. I usually go for uplinks, put them in good places, and then switch to my assault suit. This way I can provide good spawns for my team, and do a great AV job with the proxies. I didn't spam at all, I just used the equipment that are needed to win.
Now with the new bandwidth system, I could only put my 15 proxies, and then be stuck in my suit, or another logi not made for combat. I couldn't use the uplinks I skilled in or the nanohives I maxed too. I'll be FORCED to play with my logi suit, by taking a great care NOT USING MY EQUIPMENTS! Or others will disapear!
I hope this example (among many others) shows you how broken the system is, and how it must NOT be implemented. We don't need it, the game has many flaws but not this one. It will not change anything about lags. If 3 players put 6 nano on the ground each, it'll still lag bandwidth or not.
If you want to decrease lags, don't break the game and buy new servers.
TL;DR Don't implement the Bandwidth system as it'll break useful player's experience and won't reduce lags. Logistic role has many aspect using different types of equipments, this will stick him to one purpose the whole match...
Take out all forms of scans and you'll see how great Dust can be.
Scrubs will cry, good players will love it.

I think this is a great point and maybe proxies and remote explosives should be immune from equipment bandwidth. Or be reclassified but stay in the equipment slot (contact grenades?)
Bandwidth makes sense for uplinks and nanohives because of the advanced technology they use to create matter Scanners, needles, rep tools also make some sense under this bandwidth umbrella
Remotes and proxy technology is practically stone age stuff in comparison.

Build a slayer logi fit that you use when you want to preserve your equipment. When you don't want the equipment, play assault (you'll still keep some of it so use high quality stuff in good locations). If later you want equipment, switch back to logi and place more down.
I've got Amarr logi 5 and love the bandwidth changes. I play similarly to you (though I don't do the mines), and now I'll have to be more tactical with my choices (but so will everyone else). I plan on making several logi fits for AV, slaying, repping/reviving etc. sure some won't be as good as dedicated fits, but they should still be decent and my team will be benefitting from the utility of my equipment. In some cases, this will be a major buff because my links won't be competing with other teammates spamming them and switching roles.
Best PvE idea ever!

just to be clear...we post a new "card" under the appropriate header and the feedback is noted or commented on over time by the Dev team, correct?
Example: Under Equipment > Counter-Uplink > "create uplink variant that inhibits the use of deployed enemy uplinks within X area under Y conditions"

Very happy with everything that's been put forward for release thus far. All I'll add to this is that commandos seem to be getting the short end of the EWAR stick; worse precision than a standard heavy and functionally incapable of fitting EWAR modules without crippling my tank (mainly regen as the suits obviously have inherent high HP). Since EWAR is going to become an aspect of the game that all classes of suits must account for I feel like I'm getting locked out automatically with no realistic way of adapting to the changing game. If the suit isn't going to have reasonable EWAR capabilities built in (a bit much to ask) then please consider upping the slot count to allow the suit to fit EWAR modules and not hamstring themselves completely in the process.
But those war barge strikes. Jesus. The flux one is going to make gunlogi pilots scream.

In the future uprising's I did see Salvage gameplay and Salvage districts. This could possible be the PVE and the SPECIAL CONTRACTS just below the Corp contracts. If its true then = OMG.

No need to go into specifics, but it would be handy to have something more informative than "warbarges" for example, as we can't comment on something we know so little about. Will vehicles scanners be shared to the whole team or squad only ? (it's becoming tiring to ask this every-time, but this need an answer). I ask this, because outside spotting targets for a gunner in a dropship, there are few to none reasons to use vehicle scanners, even in PC.

At this point the only real feedback I have on 1.10 is that Logi BW should be normalized across the races, we're already losing capability with BW being introduced at all, creating discrepancies between the class members as well just weakens the overall role further. YES, I should be able to drop with my Cal and rep with my Min without losing my equipment. The Cal bonus already disappears with the switch.

Looks like some very good work CCP, just some quick concerns
As a dedicated Amarrian Commando the equipment bandwidth does not effect me much but it seems that it may make the Amarr and Caldari logi die out with the limited deploying capability they have.
I sympathize for those logis that are crying out and not wanting this to happen but I do not want to take a definite stand until this actually releases.
On a side note, as a laser rifler, I can not wait to see the color change to the beam (I always thought the yellow beam just seemed a bit dull.)

Let me explain why with a basic example: At the beggining of a Dom/Skirm, I go with a minlogi filled with kincats/regs and proxies. I put my 15 proxies on the ground to make sure that the tank dies on it. Then I change my suit at the depot because it's useless for combat. I usually go for uplinks, put them in good places, and then switch to my assault suit. This way I can provide good spawns for my team, and do a great AV job with the proxies. I couldn't use the uplinks I skilled in or the nanohives I maxed too. I'll be FORCED to play with my logi suit, by taking a great care NOT USING MY EQUIPMENTS! Or others will disapear!
I hope this example (among many others) shows you how broken the system is, and how it must NOT be implemented. We don't need it, the game has many flaws but not this one. It will not change anything about lags. If 3 players put 6 nano on the ground each, it'll still lag bandwidth or not.
If you want to decrease lags, don't break the game and buy new servers.
TL;DR Don't implement the Bandwidth system as it'll break useful player's experience and won't reduce lags. Logistic role has many aspect using different types of equipments, this will stick him to one purpose the whole match... Then if it causes any problems, CCP will fix them. There's no need to get so upset.
I don't think you're realizing however that BW is an attempt at fixing a problem (spam that creates lag) that clearly creates problems but doesn't as clearly solve the problem it's supposed to address. And definitely doesn't solve the problem as clearly as other options to address said problem could have (limits around depots, action trackers, FF ON vs equip in all modes etc.) without also creating similarly detrimental side-effects.

Ah, progress. I think most will have multiple fits. I don't have a problem with slayer logis. The "slayer logi issue" back in the day was they were better assaults than assaults suits. This is no longer the case, and therefore isn't a problem. Now you'll have the choice to drop lots of equipment and use that suit, or switch suits to 1. a slayer (or AV) fit that will be less effective than assault, but still provide excellent support for your team through equipment and is still a reasonably effective slayer; 2. a repper/revive fit to support team; 3. Sacrifice SOME equipment and switch to a lower BW suit like an assault if that is more useful to you, or 4. sacrifice all equipment and swap into a Sentinel. You can always switch back and drop more equipment if that becomes a priority.
The point is you have many options, and with less equipment on the field, those that do run dedicated logi should see a significant buff to WPs since they're not competing with "tourist logis." This is an excellent change.

Feedback on the presentation like last time. This post is meant to get people excited for new content, get people logging in, etc etc.
This image looks like the text was written by a developer to give someone a rough idea of the setup. For my own work I would send this to someone when asking for what they wanted the actual text to say. From the looks of it they wrote it in pretty quickly or they have a limited English vocabulary. Examples being bland names, poor grammar, inconsistent capitalization, and awkward phrasing. Do we win Skillpoints and Warpoints? I must be a big winner then because every two weeks I win money from my employer. I assume there is some sort of review before blog posts are made. Please review image text just as carefully. Do I really need to talk about properly reviewing official announcements to a company whose primary game groups players like businesses?
I was very eager to see what kind of missions you would be offering and ended up re-reading them because I wasn't sure if I was looking at them right. Confusion is a nice way to dampen excitement.
My confusion was from a mixture of several things:
- There are two different kinds of missions involving skillpoints, but the phrasing is extremely similar
- The awkward phrasing I mentioned made question if I was reading things wrong as other inconsistencies were found
- The posts are in a random order. Duplicate missions are separated where I would assume they would be grouped.
Let's talk about the random order thing again. I also brought it up when you were showing game data regarding prototype rifles. Do you have a drawer for your silverware? Does this drawer have something in there so that there are separate places for knives, forks, and spoons? Do you just mix those up for fun? I keep feeling like you guys are walking into a store where there is a line, going next to a random person... and then you all just find random places in the store to just lay down on the ground. Why? You literally need to go against human nature for this disorganization. Tell you what. Go here and be happy among your people.
I am assuming these are placeholder missions and that there will be more variety. If they aren't then... idk. Take drugs maybe. I don't advocate them but that is some watered down vanilla ice cream. It would essentially be categories of "play game", "play game lots", and "play a game good". But again I think these are placeholders.
That said why would show us a screen with 7 examples but only 4 missions? Well 3.5 technically since the Skillpoint ones are pretty much identical. Did you not think we'd read the missions? Are these particular missions meant to be interesting? No destroying vehicles? No healing/reviving teammates? No assists? No point capture? No "Earn 300 WP while defending an objective"? You're including that feature! Highlight it!
Lastly (and not something I take much issue with) is this image. While I am thrilled that when this releases in a week there will be reference material for where you can find it in your inventroy it isn't particularly exciting. What's it look like when you open it? Is there an animation? Some sense of anticipation? This image looks fun. A screen showing inventory is generally not. I know its only vanilla icecream in comparison but put some freaking sprinkles on it or something. Geez.
Also some people may remark on my own grammar in light of my criticisms. Yes. You are correct. In fact the method I identify poor writing is by comparing it to my own. No one has ever said anything positive about my writing concerning its form. if I am identifying issues that you can be sure you do have issues.

Look at number 6. Who okayed that? Who said "Yeah the description on that one looks fine to show to everyone". The description is the same as the name. Thanks. I was super confused but the description really cleared things up.
Before I continue, also get rid of the "(s)". It's 2014 and this is software that needs to be visually appealing. You modify the word based on the number.
Do you know the only helpful word in any of those descriptions? The word "gallantly". Why? Because it is the only word that isn't pointless. I think it should be replaced with something better suited but the fact remains. The Daily Mission screen is not where people need to learn about how to get SP/WP. The word "gallantly" is the only word meant to add flavor and unless a mission is added that needs explanation that is the only thing that should be in there.
That said do you know what I'm not big on seeing when I need to reference something daily? Cluttered text. Either expand it when I select it or lose it and oh my god is number 1 and 5's title color the same as the description text? No, its just incredibly close. Why? What is this evil inside you?
Moving on... if you want to keep the descriptions and need flavor. Gee if only you had some sort of culture to reference for that? Cultures where each would view the needs and actions of these missions differently. If only these missions weren't assigned by the invisible god Mtnoos who inflicts a terrible vengeance on these lands. Leaving them on our doorsteps while we sleep like some sort of chaotic santa clause.
(Not criticism but I imagine it must be frustrating earning LP for factions that constantly lose. Might be nice if earning WP for a faction could give you a limited number of missions the next day from that faction where you could earn their LP. Maybe have those missions only be completable in FW. You could list it where you list Skillpoints since none of the missions you show actually grant SP)
The mission names only eat up real estate. Do you think anyone is going to remember which is which or refer to them like that? Am I going to say "I have two hero missions today" to a friend or am I going to say "I have 3 SP missions, 2 WP missions left today". It's just clutter.
Status isn't super helpful either. Regardless of how the Mission column is handled you still have to have a certain amount of height for the rewards. Use it. The math is simple but why not include it? Show much on the next line what percent complete the mission is. Maybe show the number for how much more I need. For the status of number 4 does it show the closest you've gotten to winning enough SP in one battle? Use that extra line of space to mark it as "closest attempt" or something. And if you can do so then add the units too. 0/99 what? Yeah I only need to look to the left to check (and frankly if you didn't shuffle your lists like a blackjack dealer it would matter less) but none of this is meant to be critical. This isn't a failure its simply sloppy.
Next lets talk sorting. It looks like three of the columns can be sorted. We've already reviewed the default silverware drawer sort method used. Let's look at what the player can apparently click based on the little arrows.
First sorting is mission. Apparently I can sort my missions alphabetically. This is the only purpose for the names. However with 10 items in the list I'll never actually want them alphabetical. I will just want them grouped together.
Next we have Status. If Status isn't being sorted by percent complete I will fly there and throw eggs at your office windows. I will legitimately play on patch day just to look at this. If I am at 8/9 wins, and at 9,000/13,999 SP earned for the day, and that 9,000 is sorted as being higher on the list than the 8/9 then I will book a plane ticket.
Last is Rewards. Being generous you are showing 3 different values in this column that do not have a set rate of conversion. I'm guessing you'll just make up numbers for a rough conversion and call it close enough. That's fine as I don't think anyone is going to bother using it after trying it once or twice. What someone might use is a sorting method based on a difficulty scale. It might be helpful since mission difficulty at a glance is not easily distinguishable compared to rewards. Looking at this screen I can quickly and easily get a rough estimate at the value of mission rewards (depending on weapon quality). At the very least I can quickly identify things I most want (therefore value more). Doing so with missions will likely be much more difficult. Sorting by difficulty then lets me look and see how the rewards stack up compared to that difficulty.
I didn't really give suggestions for how to improve it. There are plenty but I can't identify the ones that can be done efficiently. My actual suggestion would be "do it right the first time". Its one of those things where changing one item requires a small change in the other. If it dominoes enough then you're looking at putting in nearly as much as you did to start off with. The only thing you would have needed to improve it would have been some attention to detail.
Look at each part on that UI and ask yourself what information people will need the most frequently. Why do they need it? Can we make it easier to find the information they are looking for? What will be needed the least? Is Ryox Sinfar going to come egg our offices if we release this? These are simple questions anyone should ask themselves. Not in the pursuit of something perfect, just to avoid something poor.

To all the logis QQ'ing about bandwidth, I have a question. Why? With an Advanced Cal Logi, I can drop 2 Triage Nanohives, 2 regular nanohives, and 2 RE's. If it is that big of deal to want to drop more stuff, get your Proto on. With that, you can drop pretty much whatever the hell you want.

These "missions" are a good starting point and introduce the means for a more fleshed out set of actual quests intothe client. For a patch, tthat's all we need. Missions can then be updated through server side updates or hotfixes. Re: your edit, I think sleeper drones(which they have art assets for small, medium, and large drones BTW) that use the aggressive turret ai with some new code for moving and patrolling are just as plausible as the proposed new game mode(this running the gauntlet style Dom that's been outlined in ur link) except I'd give the edge to sleeper drones for the reasons that 1) everybody wants sleeper drone battle pve and 2) there are storyline reasons why sleeper drones should be a thing in dust

Well...there isn't really any progression in terms of laser crystals in eve aside from the tech 2 crystals
for beam lasers
- Gleam - Mid-Short Range, High-Mid Damage, Bright White Beam
- Aurora - Long range, Lower Damage, Crimson Red Beam
For Pulse Lasers (Scrambler)
- Scorch - Mid-Long Range, Mid-High Damage, Purple Laser Pulses
- Conflagration - Short-Mid Range, High Damage, Green Laser Pulses
I'd Like to see the Vanilla Scrambler Rifle using Scorch, while the Assault Variant uses Conflag...Don't know what to do for the Laser Rifle though
Khanid Logi and Tanker, sometimes AV Heavy or Sniper.
I believe all these roles are support for front line soldiers.

And each of those crystals has a different profile even though they're almost all em and thermal damage they have different weightings of it, they also modify capacitor use and range... so would a laser that fired 80 shots drop from 110m optimal to 74m optimal to 37m optimal as it gains heat?

Now a protosquad of assaults and scouts is arriving. They can each place anywhere from 2-3 peices of equipment. They can switch to a assault with hives, place them, and then switch to an assault with a scanner. No concequence.
So do the math on that. 9 hives from the cal logi and then 2 pieces of equipment each from the 6 man squad = 21 potential prices of equipment around the depot and objective. All from part timer, non logis.
Meanwhile, me, to do my job properly, i need to now be in a protofit, and i have to compete with the fact that non logis can drop dozens of pieces of equipment.
So explain to me how the "nonsense" will be over? There will still be spam, non logis will still deploy equipment immediately around them just to benefit their squads, and dedicated logis have severe limits on who they can supply and where they can get people to spawn. Right now, If there is a raging fight at A using my equipment, and i see that D is getting hacked and theres no one nearby, i can rush out to D in a vehicle and get some stuff down so my team can push.
After the patch though? i have to stay in a ridiculously expensive suit. After I get my stuff down at A im off to a low risk zone to snipe or do something else with minimal risk. I can afford to lose some ADV logi suits. I cant afford to lose proto ones. This sort of thing would make the most sense used in the context of different rifle versions.
That is: Breach Scrambler use Gamma (blue) Regular Scramber use Xray (green) Burst Scrambler use UV (purple) Tactical Scrambler use Microwave (Orange)
Or whatever (those are all relatively short range, but any scheme which kept them in order would effectively keep with EVE) and lasers are effectively short-range. One thing I like about Tier 2 in EVE is that they tend to come with drawbacks.
So, Conflagration (green) and Scorch (purple)
Are "better" than regular crystals, but also have caveats: Conflag: 50% reduced optimal range. 30% reduced tracking speed. 25% increased capacitor usage. Scorch: 50% increased optimal range. 25% decreased tracking speed.
So, you introduce things that increase damage but have drawbacks, which is little different than how Dust weapons work (they're more analagous to the higher meta level turrets you get - higher cost & performance).
So, the EVE doesn't necessarily tie you to a specific color order. Purple is shorter range than many colors in standard, but longer range with scorch - for example. But the special crystals could also introduce special weapons versions with drawbacks, which I find interesting (note: this is also true of alternate ammo types with other weapons).
In either case, I think I would just generally be pleased with color variety, regardless.

i used to go around setting uplinks with remote mines on them. Cant do that anymore. Used to go around delivering triage nanohives to the front line. Cant do that anymore. Slayers can change to a double swarm launcher commando to shoot down a dropship and switch back. Mine is the only role where im not allowed to wield my milions of SP. My unique playstyle is ruined. Everyone else gets to play their role and deploy a bit of equipment an d switch between other roles with no bandwidth.
And what was the problem? Spam? You mean people that drop 50 manohives at a supply depot? Thats not what i was doing. What about all the tryhard PC obsessed players? Are they still able to carry 1 uplink/nanohive in on their favorite proto suit? 6 players each bringing one nanohive is more destructive than the 3 that im restricted to now.
So congradulations, you gutted my role as a dedicated logi while still enabling those who cannibalize my role. You should atleast have the decency to give a free respec to anyone who is a dedicated logi. Im ruined, i got nothing left. I made my living delivering equipment and setting traps. Im a solo player what am i supposed to do now?

First off, after the patch, I will be done running EQ as the suits I use now, which I can sometimes lay up to 6 uplinks with, plus use REs at will, will be deleted.
As for your suits, you can still do quite a lot with ADV Logi suits, and you can run a cheaper version of the same tier once you are done placing your EQ. You don't have to fully deck out the same tier of suit for you to keep your EQ, you can stack cheap things on it and still keep your bandwidth.
The whole point of this is to stop people who are not logis spamming EQ and for Logis to stop dropping lots of EQ then hopping in a heavy suit for slaying.
If you are committed to the role, you should be fine.

For lasers just have the beam change colors as it heats up damage wise. Good for the shooter and the shootie as far as making mid combat decisions about whether to duke it out or take cover.
And it would be cool.
Go orange > yellow > red > white > blue?

Same thing here. Im not a waterboy. I dont sign on so that i can go and to rev and repairs and help out a squad. I utterly despise squads. The last thing i want to do is help them prosper. The idea of people telling me to waste my ISK savings to rev and rep squads literally makes my blood boil.
Im not saying the sky is falling. If i have to use my ADV, no problem, thats like 3 uplinks, then off to a safe place to play a virtually risk free rest of the game. Before i didnt mind losing suits pushing. No way in hell am I wasting suits maintaining the status quo.
I dont see why i have to reinvent how I play the game just because some tryhard is sad that "lag" meant he only went 23-2 farming new players instead of 25-1. I wont do it. All im going to do is water down my effort. The pay will be about the same, and I know all those proto squads are going to love games where they spend 10 minutes at my redline instead of 5.
Im not going to shoulder the burden and costs when people and squads and still spam stuff casually and do other game breaking switches (Like scout to commando AV and then back). |

You left a broken un finished mechanic that allowed for needle locking mercenaries and forcing them to shut off their playstation to get out... FOR 2 YEARS.
Then after that the fix is to nerf the entire existence and use that has been established for 2 years....
Now we have squads and friendly chats full of people yelling, "YOU HAVE TO PUSH X!!!! I CAN"T REVIVE YOU IF YOU DON'T PRESS X!. OMG, NOW I DIED WAITING"
Instead of using a needle and -1 death while both the logi and mercenary fights for their life and ISK investment. Creating an enjoyable experience for all.
Clones belong to the team as a whole not to the individual mercenary.. So many matches and epic moments lost in FW events to normal amubushes because of the nerf hammer that has been applied to needle gameplay in DUST.
If your clone isn't terminated, you shouldn't die. No matter what ego trip people and a certain developer believes about downing a mercenary and that they should stay down... If the clone isn't terminated... No clone died... Hence you never died..

The correct term in-world is remote shield booster. Currently we have only remote armor repairers, although i cant see why we dont have handheld shield boosters. I cant figure out why we have to carry a gun either... In eve my drone carrier had 3 turrets: a shield booster, an armor repper, and a hull repper (sometimes also a salvage tool)
Edit: this is what a gallente logi should be. No guns, just fighting drones repping drones scouting drones and salvage drones... Or maybe just a whole lot of repping drones or a few fighting drones and a scanner. Or a rep tool a shield booster a rep drone and a fighting drone. I do have a question about the bandwidth, though. Will there be some sort of indicator on the HUD to display used / total bandwidth? If not, I think it would be a grwat addition for a later patch, since as a logi I'm probably not going to try to keep a running tab of what's still up, and would instead like to focus on the fight at hand.

How about you guys take a look at some of the old assets that you have sitting around for DUST. And re-purpose them or finally get around to finishing the concept.
Like:
Small Turret Installations. These in closed beta where amazing. They where usually placed on or around objectives and offered a static point of defense and offense.
Would be cool if you guys could actually make them deployable equipment... and Maybe a viable build option for the many clases.
Logistic LAV's. We need a proper way to offer Shield based Logistics.Specially with the upcoming EMP strikes.
It would be amazing if the Logi LAV didnt have a normal Small turret. But a Large remote shield transporter that a "gunner" has to operate to then offer shield repairs to anything from tanks to dropships to mercenaries.
I Believe it should also have some resistance to AV weaponry.
Logistic Dropships. We need dropships in general to get a reconcept. Right now they are operating like glorified fighters with a wet paper bag for defense. They 1-3 shot every suit in the game while only being able to take 3 shots consecutively without having to flee.
Logistic Dropships should have AoE remote shield transporters like Logistic LAV's of old had. Significantly reduced offensive abilities... Giving considerably less damage by 75% or more but near double the tanking ability. Allowing logistic dropships to spend more time over their squads heads providing cover and support.
Deployable structures. We have had the empty option when ever you go to the warbarge or vehicle selector "Installations" We where supposed to have Turret's and other structures we where supposed to be able to purchase off the market and then fit...
Then when we scored enough warpoints we where supposed to have an option to call it in to a requested location.
It just seems like a giant missed opportunity for relevant content.
How about we test the Amarr Large vehicle turret weaponry on a installation first?
There are alot of places that could be gone with them. |

Believe it or not. That is the only established learning curve that exists in DUST.
Having players try and make STD and ADV suits relevant against proto suit vets.
Its pretty much how everyone that plays has gotten better.
Being able to take a STD or ADV suit and make something out of it in competition.
It makes you better at the game. Where wearing proto only really makes you better at knowing how to run proto.. Your skills usually remain stagnate.

Awesome job on paper.... I can't wait to get back to quarters and see the changes in effect! Couple items on my wish list:
1. fix FW deployment... I couldn't get a Minmitar or Gallente FW battle to save my sweet Assault Rifle! Waiting 5-8 minutes on average made me run Caldari FW, which supporting those grimy jerks is contrary to my Minmitar Heritage....but I wanted to play in the FW event. Furthermore our Corp participates weekly in FW training sessions and we are generally forced to play Caldari as it deploys fast and when you have 12+ people involved waiting 5-8 minutes per deployment is a terrible waste of time.
2. Matchmaking........................... (be nice Cu'....they know not what the have done...........) Ok, Pretty please with sugar on top try a new method of matchmaking. Maybe tiered based on what level of suit/weapom you run. Being proto-stomped in pub matches is never fun...even if it is your team doing it. Turns the new player experience bad and also turns veteran users off when we are just trying to ISK grind or just playing for fun in a cheap suit to let your skills do the work.

1.is the bandwidth subjected to the whole suit in general? Or is it to equipment tier?
( example: i have 3 proto suits set up . Max bandwidth is 16 . Each equipment is 4 mbits on each suit : does that mean i can deploy all the equipment on each suit with out self detonation? Or is the bandwidth counted to each equipment dropped individually ? )
2. The O.B spam notice is a bit of a eyesore.
( positives ) fights are more intense and fun - protecting a home point pays off - new color changes are interesting and more noticeable - no more spamming the map great

I have to disagree with you, playing as a STD or ADV suits would not make you any better at the game, if anything when you use these suits it makes you more careless because there is a minuscule cost for these. When I got the prototype dropsuits, I deleted any STD/ADV fittings I had because when you have proto, why would you use anything else (except when you know you're probably going to die a lot of times in a match, then I understand.)
Example: If you had to choose between a Honda and a Lamborghini, which would you choose, and would the honda make you a better driver than if you were driving a Lambourghini

As I was checking out the new features of the recent DUST514 update. Graphical features were a plus, daily bonuses were even pleasing to me. I had read the patch notes and was on the fence about how the entire ordeal would fair with me. So far things were looking up.
Squaded up with some buddies, I entered a match and deployed in my Uplink suit to check out the supposed "buff" to the Logistics role that had been mentioned. On my way to an objective, I dropped an uplink and then dropped another at the objective. Everything seemed fine until I ran to another objective and dropped a different kind of uplink.
........... I don't even think I need to say what happened next.
Chapter 2: Asinine.
One would think, having the bandwidth would be a good idea. In fact, I think it's a great idea, but my findings show that CCP has messed up once again. I can't place uplinks, and have nanohives out at the same time. So, my whole thought process is how am I supposed to help my team?"
Honestly, what is the point of even being Logistics anymore if you can't give your teammates SUPPORT with places to spawn or ammunition. This is completely ridiculous. Way to go, CCP.

Honestly, I have two options. Either I respec into a different class or I delete this POS game from my console. The whole thing that kept me playing is that I loved being a support role, I wasn't forced into slaying unless I absolutely have to, but now I feel like i'm being forced to actually kill things. wtf.

i used to go around setting uplinks with remote mines on them. Cant do that anymore. Used to go around delivering triage nanohives to the front line. Cant do that anymore. Slayers can change to a double swarm launcher commando to shoot down a dropship and switch back. Mine is the only role where im not allowed to wield my milions of SP. My unique playstyle is ruined. Everyone else gets to play their role and deploy a bit of equipment an d switch between other roles with no bandwidth.
And what was the problem? Spam? You mean people that drop 50 manohives at a supply depot? Thats not what i was doing. What about all the tryhard PC obsessed players? Are they still able to carry 1 uplink/nanohive in on their favorite proto suit? 6 players each bringing one nanohive is more destructive than the 3 that im restricted to now.
So congradulations, you gutted my role as a dedicated logi while still enabling those who cannibalize my role. You should atleast have the decency to give a free respec to anyone who is a dedicated logi. Im ruined, i got nothing left. I made my living delivering equipment and setting traps. Im a solo player what am i supposed to do now?

The current logistics bandwidth is too low, and a fix is underway. You can deploy uplinks and nanohives.

I'm not saying that having a prototype suit makes you any better in the game, for instance I usually only run STD suits except if I need to, in say a factional when there are 16 Q-syncing fatal absolutionists (true story).
What I am saying is that playing as a STD or ADV would not make you any better than being a PRO, in fact you have probably played spent a lot of time as a STD/ADV just because of having to save up you're skill points.
The point I am trying to make is that using STD or ADV suits do not make any better than if you are using a PRO suit, and using PRO suits do not make you any better than if you are using a STD or ADV suits. CASE CLOSED
P.S., you should have read my example more carefully, I wasn't trying to say that the Lamborghini made you a better driver than the Honda, I'm saying they both would improve your driving skill equally, one is just more expensive and nicer looking than the other.

I believe that the new orbital strikes are genius for keeping enemies from simply getting up high and raining fire down from a tower or something. this was a huge problem in my opinion because this made the game so ungodly boring. When a team makes a decision to use this tactic no ground is ever gained. Next I hope to see some new game modes. Perhaps a racing mode where we can have a driver and gunner in an lav. And put them in an environment (perhaps an erupting volcano) that we must not only escape from, but also survive the enemies that are trying to escape themselves. Or just some PVE.

Well, that`s it for me. This game has turned into something that Zynga would be proud to call their own. I will quit now before I start receiving cows and chickens, and have to harvest my crops. Dust has become Farm-ville , and if I wanted to be pressured into logging in everyday and playing for hours for virtual rewards on an endless loop , I would play Zynga`s flash games on Facebook.. Dust is over, and so am I. |

because people kept spamming equipment. abuse the game and this is what happens, always the select few ruining it for everyone else. personally I have no complaints, I can put down 5 uplinks from my Cal Logi, switch to assault and they're still there.
A fix is underway for logi bandwidth as CCP have admitted it is too low.

Why are you letting people hack dust. Way too many funky things are happening on dust. One day Im doing great the next day I feel like I've been nerft. I know my game play isn't bad enough to play one day with a 3.0 kd then the next day .30 coz its all funky Im losing faith in dust. Worst match making game ever. Full proto side vs one squad. Its not that had to fix match making . Learn from cod a fix it please. |
