Oh, wait, right now Dust is garbage. The player base is still here because they invested their time and money in CCP's dreams. It's like taking our money and develop the game on a different platform, that's it. Imagine, how would Eve players feel if they were told that a version of Eve with awesome cool stuffs was going to be developed on, let's say, PS 5 and left you with a "but you can still play Eve on PC, no worries!". Jita wouldn't simply burn, it would implode.
So, answering directly to your question, no. Dust as is would never be a good competitor in fps on consoles. But that's why they should develop Legion on ps4! This was the plan, just stick with it.

I know and understand your frustration here...and I honestly do sympathize. I was always aware that this was going to be difficult for my dedicated console playing friends, and all that I can say is that I hope we get the chance to play against eachother in the near future.
Yeah its frustrating. Because you people are essentially telling us that content we purchased on playstation 3 is pretty much crap now but there is a chance that we may be able to use it on the conditions that you can transfer it and that we buy a pc.
Are you going to offer reimbursement to those who cant/wont get a pc in order to play their playstation dlc?
Or are you just going to tell us to **** off now that you have our money?
I mean youve already changed your game and dlc terms and conditions on the ps store twice now in order to screw over consumers. And I see you changed dust from 24v24 to 16v16 yesterday afternoon on the ps store.

None of the C's stand for competence - this just too easy
But really, I have been here a year plus and I have heard the arguments for and against CCP. Judging them and what they have promised and what they have delivered says more than enough.
The quality of what has been delivered and the lack of explanation for what hasnt speaks for itself.

Specifically, if not towards the Dust community as a whole, to those who spent lots of money to fly to Iceland just for Dust only to be disappointed (and that is an understatement). You asked two questions. The link answers the first. There is no response (yet) to the second. Kind of like how my question got quoted and not answered. At least they got one of yours.
True that.
Too bad it wasn't the most important one I guess.

I was always aware that this was going to be difficult for my dedicated console playing friends, and all that I can say is that I hope we get the chance to play against eachother in the near future. @ CCP Saberwing, CCP Logibro, and CCP Rouge... Would you be willing to come on our podcast - BIOMASSED next week to basically get a do-over on how things were introduced to us? The podcast is ran by Pokey Dravon, Soraya Xel, and myself...feel free to check our post history and talk to Hans, Nova, and Kain about us. Bottom line - the mishandled roll-out covered up what potentially could have been great news for the community and seeded doubt, confusion, and generated some serious negativity. Trust is a finite resource in the service industry and you have a lot of customers feeling burned right now. Will you guys come on the show and engage with us to help clear the air?
When you have a playerbase which has been this die hard and this loyal, their reaction to a series of events such as this are to be expected. Sometimes chaos and lack of preparation can cause the release of information to go in a directer that was never intended. We want to provide you with a platform to get on the airwaves and have some meaningful conversation with your playerbase so that we can find out exactly where the state of the game lands right now.
If anything the amount of outcry should show you how much the players love and believed in this game, it is important that you give them some proper answers and we want to help you do that.
Like my ideas?

If they had anything to show it would have been.
There would have been a separate discussion at FanFest for Legion or Legion would have only been unveiled at the end of the Dust Talk as the bombshell takeaway, a cherry on top so to speak.
The mere fact that they still cant put out a quick post with a few features that are finalized or set to come in the next few months says it all.
They misread their audience. This isnt EVE, many dont have or want PC's so its not "oh wow, cool, I'll download that when it comes out"

The issue is mostly that we weren't included soon enough in the development of Project Legion. I, personally, am all well and good with it being on PC, and being an "improvement" over DUST. But we were outright lied to by CCP for months, being told there was nothing in the work for other platforms, and then we were blindsided by this at Fanfest in the worst way possible.

Fanfest blew me away, by admitting that DUST was a failure, it did not, and could not live up to the dream, and that they would rather develop on their own turf to bring us the game I was once so in love with.

I've tried to make this super clear - we will do whatever we can to transfer over your investment in DUST. That means names, skills, items, etc - where possible. The only reason I say where possible is because progression, skills and items are being looked at and there's no guarantee that they will be in Legion. In that case, we would do our best to find some other way of protecting that investment.

So, I would really like to thank CCP for stopping by ready to answer a long nights worth of questions. Wait, wasn't that what they said they were doing in this thread?
Sorry, I must admit that the few responses you offered did nothing to answer this primary question.
In fact as so many have pointed out clearly to CCP in the past 48 hrs: this is the only question that matters to many who have decided the only option we have ( since feedback and communication has been taken off the table by CCP) is to speak with out feet and wallets. Many, myself included, nolonger consider ourselves CCP customers.
Why is the question. Not whether - this is not a debate about whether you broke our trust and confidence with you policies - but why.
And if you will not reply, as clearly your actions seem to indicate, then I guess we are done.
CCP has made this crystal clear to those willing to listen: Players are customers, that is all. We are nothing more than that which stands between our funds and thier coffers. Loyalty has no value. Commitment is not worth the paper it's printed on. And we are welcome to shut up and move along.
Thanks for that CCP. I choose to walk away from this seven year business relationship, as you will have it,of my own volition.
Thank you dust and eve community - truly it is the interactions I have always shared Witt e players that has made my time in new Eden dear to me. I hope to meet and compete against you all, elsewhere. |

will there be new content on dust 514 while they wait on Legion? Or, will there just be patches to bugs and hotfixes? If a dev had already answered the question directly can someone just link the post to me?
Otherwise, I'd appreciate it if a dev can just confirm if we should still look forward to updates.

will there be new content on dust 514 while they wait on Legion? Or, will there just be patches to bugs and hotfixes? If a dev had already answered the question directly can someone just link the post to me?
Otherwise, I'd appreciate it if a dev can just confirm if we should still look forward to updates. The closest we've had to an answer to that was Rouge stating in PR-speak that they'll be "supporting" DUST to some degree, but implying very heavily that the extent of that support will be limited to bug fixes, balance tweaks and cleaning up of Planetary Conquest. New content hasn't been definitively ruled out, but there's a big "NOGäó" hiding between the lines.
Logibro has further expanded on that answer with a decent explanation for why they're being so vague about the future of DUST at this point, but it basically boils down to "we're seeing what happens with Legion first".
For any more info than that, I guess you'll just have to wait and see like the rest of us. |
