I will admit that there have been issues in messaging, and we're going to be clearing up as many facts and answering as many questions as we can over the next few days.
As far as PS4 vs PC, we went with PC because that's what we've worked more with in the past. There are also fewer hoops to jump through when developing for PC compared to a console. I'll be honest, Sony has done amazing stuff and removed a lot of red tape for us with DUST, but it's still not a simple process.
Just remember, the door isn't closed for PS4 (or beyond as may be the case). It's just a door we're not looking for right now.
I just want to say, this is a decision that must be made soon. People can't be strung along this time. And if you do go for the Ps4, it must have a final release no more than a week after the PC. Otherwise the people that left likely won't come back. (I know they're a relatively small number, but they were loyal, and may be again) I can already say that PS4 will not be an option parallel to Legion on PC before release. We'll only look at that door after we're comfortable on PC, as we want to get the game itself in a healthy state first.
Well then, I would hope gamers' "investments" are held for a few years after Legion releases.
They shouldnt be expected to follow CCP's tail until the game is finally out

Csikszent Mihalyi wrote:[quote=xxwhitedevilxx M] Not quite true. While PS4 is a PC architecture, that only refers to the hardware, not the SDK and infrastructure. It's still a whole lot different to making games on the PC.
Its very simple and possibly has little to do with the PS4
They dont want to be beholden to Sony ie having to jump through QA hoops and do proper management for delivery of content. On PC they can release and update whenever they like.

DUST Fiend wrote:xxwhitedevilxx M wrote:DUST Fiend wrote:xxwhitedevilxx M wrote:In other words you're telling us to just "Adapt or die". What's your game as a service? Where is the service? This is just wrong, seriously. The vast majority of this community would have welcomed a ps4 port, I'm sure of it. I'm sure plenty of you would enjoy a mediocre port to the PS4 that would remain as niche an unreceived as this game has been, but there are also plenty of us who want the game to actually succeed. Those of us know that developing for the PC, THEN porting, is the only logical way to accomplish that. Why does it needs to be mediocre? If the game needs to be competitive, then PC is a no-go anyway. There's nothing more, besides the fact we were told this was going to be a sony exclusive. You don't think DUST as is, is mediocre? You think this game is actually a strong competitor in the next gen FPS market?

None of the C's stand for competence - this just too easy
But really, I have been here a year plus and I have heard the arguments for and against CCP. Judging them and what they have promised and what they have delivered says more than enough.
The quality of what has been delivered and the lack of explanation for what hasnt speaks for itself.

What sort of developments are being worked on for Dust? I realize that you are now "laser focused" on Legion, but can us Dusters expect anything new, other than hotfixes and changes to current features?
If they had anything to show it would have been.
There would have been a separate discussion at FanFest for Legion or Legion would have only been unveiled at the end of the Dust Talk as the bombshell takeaway, a cherry on top so to speak.
The mere fact that they still cant put out a quick post with a few features that are finalized or set to come in the next few months says it all.
They misread their audience. This isnt EVE, many dont have or want PC's so its not "oh wow, cool, I'll download that when it comes out"

I agree with all that you said but the one thing I would take issue with is your last line. - Not that its wrong but because its what CCP led many to believe.
I came here just at the end of closed beta and from as long as I could remember people discussed how strange it was that a game like this would be developed on a system that was nearing the end of its cycle.
When issues arose and PS4 materialized with concrete specs and release date, the calls came again for the game to be moved or at least a hope that a PS4 client was being worked on secretly. Many were outright saying that the game should move to PS4 or at least have a PC client.
All that ever came from CCP was that Sony will support the PS3 for years still and they had a plan to continue to develop and support Dust. The old 80 million PS3's line was always trotted out by supporters and CCP never did anything to inform their playerbase that something new would be on the horizon, especially this soon.
Now a shiny new CGI trailer is out with more rainbows. I just hope people will wait this time to see if a pot of gold really is there.

While we are in general discussions and the two are pretty much the same game, this isn't the project legion forums. What is being worked on for dust 514?
Were still missing 3 nova knives, 2 HAV's, 2 LAV's as well as MAV's and motorcycles. Not to mention the other heavy weapons and much needed balancing. Dust and Legion are not the same game. They've stated it themselves. They are separate games on separate platforms. Dust 514 might not even get any more integration to EVE now. Also, from the sounds of it, Legion won't have EVE integration for at least a year. a year is VERY optimistic.
But once Legion gets EVE connection thats it for Dust.
Though it doesnt really matter as the only real connection we have is EVE dropping orbitals which hardly happen now anyway.
