@Saberwing
Less than a month ago you said this:
CCP Saberwing wrote:We are still fully committed to developing EVE, DUST and Valkyrie. Lots of things will be shown around the games in the EVE Universe come Fanfest. Linky
I really wonder how you managed to come up with two blatant lies in a two sentence post.
Lie #1:
CCP Saberwing wrote:We are still fully committed to developing EVE, DUST and Valkyrie. As we now know either no one at all or only a skeleton crew has been working on DUST for the past many months and going forward there will still be either no one at all or only a skeleton crew working on DUST. That's not exactly what I would call "fully committed to developing DUST".
Lie #2:
CCP Saberwing wrote:Lots of things will be shown around the games in the EVE Universe come Fanfest. I wouldn't exactly consider the amount of stuff shown for DUST at FF for "lots". In fact absolutely nothing was shown for DUST.
Do you have any response to this because I don't know about you, but I don't really consider blatantly lying to people trying to hype them up for no reason whatsoever for good business?

I understand where you're coming from on those quotes, and it absolutely wasn't my intention to lie to people. We are still fully committed to developing those games (as mentioned several times), and furthermore DUST and Project Legion are both very much part of the EVE Universe.
Again, I understand where you're coming from and it wasn't my intention to come across as "lying" to people - prior to the reveal it was difficult for me to explicitly state the distinction between the work on DUST 514 and Project Legion.

I guess the first thing is do you guys understand why so many folksy felt they were dumped on they way all this came about? There are some legitimately great things in the information CCP was putting out but how it was done was a horrendous way to deal with loyal paying customers (some of which flew to ICELAND to celebrate your product). As for a technical question... what drove the choice of PC vs PS4 for the chosen next gen version of Dust / Legion? We understand, and we always expected many players to be upset and even angry with what we said, primarily dedicated console players. I will admit that there have been issues in messaging, and we're going to be clearing up as many facts and answering as many questions as we can over the next few days. As far as PS4 vs PC, we went with PC because that's what we've worked more with in the past. There are also fewer hoops to jump through when developing for PC compared to a console. I'll be honest, Sony has done amazing stuff and removed a lot of red tape for us with DUST, but it's still not a simple process. Just remember, the door isn't closed for PS4 (or beyond as may be the case). It's just a door we're not looking for right now.

Yeah, you summed that one up really well big. I would like to keep playing this game as well, BUT there is no way I am going to keep going with a company that refuses to answer and assist with their customer's concerns combined with lying to them. The delayed answers in here are only going to keep fueling the fire and making people more angry, including me.
I can understand if you guys don't have the answers immediately at hand for everything in here, I get that. But go and find out to the best of your ability then. It's not where there's only a handful of people angry over something anymore like a weapon or a bug, we're to the point where a large majority of players are angry over not the game, but the development of it.
Also, I've been around the block with the corporate industry and ran my own business. I did work for the US defense industry for several years, I can see through the "red tape/PR BS", so don't patronize me with it.

Here's my problem with this logic, presented by analogy:
If you take the average guy and put him in front of a 20 foot (~4m) long puddle and he tries to jump across it, I'm not going to be mad at the guy for landing in the water. But I will call him an idiot for jumping in the first place.
I agree with a lot of folks--Dust 'belongs' on a PC. How CCP didn't know a console at the end of it's lifecycle wasn't a good place to start development of an MMO meant to be part of the New Eden universe is beyond me.
How you didn't know you were going to end up in the middle of the puddle, wet and muddy and on your butt, is beyond me. But you're there now. And the fan base you built up deserves more than 'sorry' or these lame 'we're going to keep developing' excuses. If Legion has to slow down to maintain your progress on Dust, than that's what you should do. Sound like a bad business decision? Agreed--but that's the situation you put yourself into.

I've tried to make this super clear - we will do whatever we can to transfer over your investment in DUST. That means names, skills, items, etc - where possible. The only reason I say where possible is because progression, skills and items are being looked at and there's no guarantee that they will be in Legion. In that case, we would do our best to find some other way of protecting that investment. OUR "Investment" doesnt mean **** if we dont own a PC. You know as well as i do that the majority of players for Dust 514 are CONSOLE ONLY. It's not really. They're 2 separate things...asking where we fund the development of Legion is different than asking if there's a relationship between the promotions and the reveal of Legion. While I can't answer your first question, I can assure you that there is no correlation between sales promotions and revealing Legion - as I said in my previous post, we're going to do our best to transfer everything across.
Better ask which players actually have gaming PC's , could save yourself a HUGE amount of time.

This allows them to make a piece of **** that demands 64GB RAM and two Titan GPUs with a quad i7 setup and a RAID array of SSDs. Once they got the gameplay nailed down, they can lower the system requirements to sane levels. And once that happens and they try to port to PS4, they will be forced to optimize even more, which not only allows for the PS4 port but also makes the PC version better.
If you go the opposite way, you have a situation where you need to optimize an unfinished game. And Dust has already shown us how competent CCP are at multitasking. |

Well, I don't care about being ported to Legion I'm not going to play it. As far as I'm concerned the last 6 months to year CCP was engaged in fraud. Particularly in light of a 'sale' just prior to a death nail that was the announcement at fanfest. I'm sure there are many honorable employees at CCP.
Many of us invested real world money and waited and waited some more in hope of getting close to projections and promises. All the while having reasonable suggestions ignored. At this time it is rather a moot point about Dust's future, it is dead.
Tell you what I want, I want the last year's worth of financial contributions I made refunded. I sure as hell didn't enjoy playing the convoluted mess Dust became. Like others I held on waiting, now there is no point.
CCP disgraced itself, betrayed the trust of a community then insulted its intelligence on top of it. CCP's actions are directly affecting my continued presence in Eve: Online. Granted 3 Eve accounts and 2 Dust accounts in my control may not seem like much, all I have to say is, continued trends in current direction will result in playerbase attrition, including mine. Not a threat just a real world assessment of a company's 'vision'

Yes, that is absolutely the plan. While I can't promise it'll be to the same level as the guys on EVE (they're a much bigger team, working on a game that has already launched...) I'll be doing my best to get more community interaction going. Livestreams, behind the scenes videos, AMAs, etc :)

Saberwing, can you please do something to help console players? We are still being backstabbed and left behind by not getting a PS4 release. Push for PS4 release with PC, stop ignoring us and leaving us behind! |

And besides that I guess that Dust will stay around for a while for FW, which won't be, if I got that correctly, be implemented in Project Legion from the beginning.
Yes, that is absolutely the plan. While I can't promise it'll be to the same level as the guys on EVE (they're a much bigger team, working on a game that has already launched...) I'll be doing my best to get more community interaction going. Livestreams, behind the scenes videos, AMAs, etc :) Oh nice!
Now you think to listen to the community!

No, the proper progression is PC -> PS4.
And Dust has already shown us how competent CCP are at multitasking.[/quote]
How do you know what the game requires? Maybe if CCP actually stuck to their 10 year plan and not let Sony force them to release an unfinished game, they could have released a more finished game that was optimized and they'd just have to add and optimize new things. If they had just stuck to making it a console only game and used the funds from Dust to further improve the game, they wouldn't have had to screw us over like they did. |
