I've been so disheartened by the feeling that this game not only wasn't going anywhere quick, but COULDN'T. You really revived that sense of excitement I once had for DUST by announcing Legion, even though I WAS pretty pissed at how it all went down.
My only question right now for Legion is this: Will my Prometheus come back to me?

How many times are people going to say, "But it's easy to port over!" before they realize it means the same backwards too? How is developing on an unfamiliar system with more constraints "the same" to you?

The vast majority of this community would have welcomed a ps4 port, I'm sure of it. I'm sure plenty of you would enjoy a mediocre port to the PS4 that would remain as niche an unreceived as this game has been, but there are also plenty of us who want the game to actually succeed.
Those of us know that developing for the PC, THEN porting, is the only logical way to accomplish that.

If the game needs to be competitive, then PC is a no-go anyway. There's nothing more, besides the fact we were told this was going to be a sony exclusive. You don't think DUST as is, is mediocre?
You think this game is actually a strong competitor in the next gen FPS market?

A PvE mode, like any old horde mode? What exactly makes it different, is it that EVE players will come play it? Is that it, so it can regrab an audience that CCP owns? Having EVE pilots drop strikes? The supposed boarding of ships (let's be realistic here), is that it?
I know that Prophecy video made EVE, Legion, and Valkyrie interacting look amazing, but, that won't happen, at least not for a long, long time (isn't Valkyrie gonna be on its own server anyway?). So what you're saying is just scrap the DUST IP?
Because it's just an upgraded form of DUST, so, if it's garbage, then what exactly is DUST?

You think this game is actually a strong competitor in the next gen FPS market? Oh, wait, right now Dust is garbage. The player base is still here because they invested their time and money in CCP's dreams. It's like taking our money and develop the game on a different platform, that's it. Imagine, how would Eve players feel if they were told that a version of Eve with awesome cool stuffs was going to be developed on, let's say, PS 5 and left you with a "but you can still play Eve on PC, no worries!". Jita wouldn't simply burn, it would implode. So, answering directly to your question, no. Dust as is would never be a good competitor in fps on consoles. But that's why they should develop Legion on ps4! This was the plan, just stick with it. We're just going around in circles.
You feel that somehow moving from PS3 to PS4 will be easier.
I feel that moving to PC then to PS4 will be easier (as does CCP)
Going to PC, then to PS4, is going to yield you higher quality, faster results, then attempting to go from PS3, to PS4

It's not really. They're 2 separate things...asking where we fund the development of Legion is different than asking if there's a relationship between the promotions and the reveal of Legion. While I can't answer your first question, I can assure you that there is no correlation between sales promotions and revealing Legion - as I said in my previous post, we're going to do our best to transfer everything across. do you guys understand that the appeal of dust was that there was never going to be a 'dust 2'. that's the reason we started playing. there's no 'eve:online 2'. if you announced eve online 2 at fanfest, what do you think the reaction would be? So you wanted it to stay on PS3 for forever? How good would that have gone? Making it for the PC and THEN porting to the PS4 is how you get the game to where it should have been, as quickly as possible. Trying to port this game to PS4 would just result in a low quality next gen game that never gets much attention because it cannot stack up to the competition.

Just suppose for a second it could be easier (even if I think it's pretty much the same amount of work). There's a huge difference between what's the easy thing to do and what's the right thing to do. And I'm not talking about porting Dust, I'm talking about Project : Legion, which admittedly is a reworked Dust, not updated. We'll just have to agree to disagree, because I was ready to walk away from DUST for good if fanfest didn't blow me away.
Fanfest blew me away, by admitting that DUST was a failure, it did not, and could not live up to the dream, and that they would rather develop on their own turf to bring us the game I was once so in love with.
I'm done with this for now, enjoy your evening, morning, whatever it is.
LONG LIVE LEGION, GREEN LIGHT GO GO GO

Baal Omniscient wrote:One more thing, a friend of mine in Dust (Jax Thrife) bought over 30 merc packs in closed beta and both the Veteran and Elite packs. Then spent all of his AUR on booters and activated every booster he had. When Dust dies, how will he be refunded for his remaining booster time? Good god why would someone do that?
Anyways.
I would like to think they would take all unconsumed AUR assets, revert them to AUR, then transfer the AUR to your Legion character. Since those boosters are in the queue, they haven't been consumed, and thus should be subject to a refund.
Obviously that's just speculation, but seems like the most logical outcome.

That would be a good way to do it, as long as SP is maintained at a 1:1 ratio (or some equivalent, I'm not a game designer :) Whatever happens, we will do what we can to make that transition transparent and fair. I dont understand why that wouldnt be the default way of doing it? Just respec everything again. THANK YOU FOR REVIVING THE SIG!

I understand where you're coming from on those quotes, and it absolutely wasn't my intention to lie to people. We are still fully committed to developing those games (as mentioned several times), and furthermore DUST and Project Legion are both very much part of the EVE Universe. Again, I understand where you're coming from and it wasn't my intention to come across as "lying" to people - prior to the reveal it was difficult for me to explicitly state the distinction between the work on DUST 514 and Project Legion. At this point, all I ask is that when you have any info / pictures of Legion Dropships, SHARE THEM PLEAAAAAAAAAAAASSSSSSSSSSSSSEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

Good job, man. Good job.

I've tried to make this super clear - we will do whatever we can to transfer over your investment in DUST. That means names, skills, items, etc - where possible. The only reason I say where possible is because progression, skills and items are being looked at and there's no guarantee that they will be in Legion. In that case, we would do our best to find some other way of protecting that investment. OUR "Investment" doesnt mean **** if we dont own a PC. You know as well as i do that the majority of players for Dust 514 are CONSOLE ONLY. Do you really expect them to just up and Buy a console for a game that may very well get scrapped like your scrapping dust? I for one have no intention of investing any further in Dust or in your "new toy". You did the community a disservice and you and all of CCP knows it Going to PC first gives you a greater chance of a higher quality PS4 port, faster.

CCP Saberwing wrote:Raz Sidona wrote:Saberwing, can you please do something to help console players? We are still being backstabbed and left behind by not getting a PS4 release. Push for PS4 release with PC, stop ignoring us and leaving us behind! This decision is ultimately out of my hands here, but I will pass the overall desires and concerns on. But, as I mentioned several times elsewhere - PC is the first step to next-gen. Basically, while we haven't ruled out a move to a next-gen console, PC is going to be the focus first. I hope that you all (CCP) stick to your guns, Green Light Legion, push the PC version through and then get to work on a PS4 port asap.
So long as it's technically feasible, it seems like that's the direction you as a company would want to go anyways, to open the game up to as many potential customers as possible, and to not completely abandon your console playerbase.
I'm looking forward to any and all Legion news, hound Hellmar for that Green Light!
