Did we all agree to abandon all social niceties when we connected ourselves to the internet? I didn't. If others have I don't see how that should limit my rights as a customer.
We have unwritten rules in life. You go through your day, and you try to act like a real human, you usually say please and thank you to people and in many social contexts, you are required to do so. Why are you required to do these things? Because the repercussions for not observing these rules, while subjective, could have a detrimental effect on the ease of living/working with these individuals. Examples: You can't **** off your co-workers; You can't tell your boss what you really think of him; You can't **** off half of your customers by being disrespectful to them.
As far as you are concerned we are all trolls and crybabies so it's ok for a company like CCP to treat us as such? No. They will treat us like the paying customers we are or they will lose reputation with every person they expect to sell this game to. |

(Sorry for wall of text)
Kev Crow wrote:You attack me without even bothering to understand - just assuming and blindly expressing your feeling of dissatisfaction. I don't see how anything I said could be interpreted as a personal attack on you, I'm sorry if my bitter tone upsets you, but I am just as biased as anybody on these forums. If you don't want people picking apart your arguments, then don't post them.
Quote:Why don't you read some more of my post, and the discussion I had with Garrett, most of it is rather balanced and far from condescending or offensive. I'm sorry to tell you this but EVERYBODY has a bias, we all consider our arguments perfect and can't see any fault with them, but that's not how it is, that is just your perspective. No offense intended, but nothing you say is sacred. Nothing I say is sacred either, please feel free to rip apart my arguments, but I don't think my tone is relevant to the discussion. I'm trying to stick to the points made, but I would love to see how you justify your point of view, but everything else is meaningless.
Quote: I never said that feelings are wrong, all I am saying is that feelings are subjective and individual and therefore not the ultimate truth. I'm sorry... the ultimate truth? I don't know what that means. Can I assume you mean "relevant to this discussion"?
If I don't shop at safeway because the staff is uncommunicative and aloof, and I don't feel comfortable there, I will register a complaint with head office and if they want my business(and perhaps the business of those who feel the same way and don't say anything), they will look into solving that problem. I don't see why my feelings should be disregarded by management just because they are "feelings", when it is something that is adversely affecting the business.
Quote: Not everyone feels the same about this... And before you continue judging - I have informed CCP about my dissatisfaction with DUST 10 months ago: I stopped playing both games ( In EVE I had 3 paying accounts) You make points, and I dissect them if I don't like them and point out flaws. I'd love to hear about why you cancelled your accounts, but I don't see how that changes what you said.
And I read your post, I didn't memorize it, but I found a part I disagreed with and I focused on that one point. Maybe if I read it again I will realize how wrong I am and honor you by putting a line of it in my sig, but I don't think so.
Quote: I guarantee that the feeling of betrayal would have been equally present No I promise you it wouldn't have been equal, because if CCP hadn't duped me into spending money on an mmo they just killed, I would be legion fanboy number 1. So definitely not equal. You can tell me my opinion doesn't matter, because I'm just one guy, but you used the word "equal", so if you want to make that point a different way, feel free.
And I'm sorry if you consider this an "attack", but you keep saying things like "i am the voice of reason!", and I'm sorry, but that is also wrong, you have a viewpoint, and you are expressing it to others, and marveling at how anybody could possibly not agree with you 100%. That is exactly what everybody is doing, except some people enjoy adding some strong language, and that is fine by me. Please accept your own bias and join the rest of us in the discussion.
Kev Crow: "Despite what people claim, companies that face such odds rarely concern themselves with unwritten rules and properer etiquette."
I don't care what "odds" they face, every company has to treat their customers with respect or suffer the consequences, do a google search for "business/corporation apologizes". MSNBC had to apologize because one of their correspondents was wearing a sombrero and shaking maracas on his segement, and some people were offended. Go figure.
You say that you want CCP to be more honest with us, but if they can lie to us without consequence, why should they?
tldr; It's okay to have a bias, but pretending you aren't biased only weakens your arguments... in my opinion. SMILEY FACE. |
