I will admit that there have been issues in messaging, and we're going to be clearing up as many facts and answering as many questions as we can over the next few days.
As far as PS4 vs PC, we went with PC because that's what we've worked more with in the past. There are also fewer hoops to jump through when developing for PC compared to a console. I'll be honest, Sony has done amazing stuff and removed a lot of red tape for us with DUST, but it's still not a simple process.
Just remember, the door isn't closed for PS4 (or beyond as may be the case). It's just a door we're not looking for right now.
I just want to say, this is a decision that must be made soon. People can't be strung along this time. And if you do go for the Ps4, it must have a final release no more than a week after the PC. Otherwise the people that left likely won't come back. (I know they're a relatively small number, but they were loyal, and may be again) I can already say that PS4 will not be an option parallel to Legion on PC before release. We'll only look at that door after we're comfortable on PC, as we want to get the game itself in a healthy state first. pf... How to betray console gamers, especially the same console gamers you exploited for 2 years, constantly throwing "Dust" in our eyes. They planed it, read this boyo.
they'll look at it again in three years lol.

Aside from leaving PS3 players in the proverbial dust, you have my full support for Legion, what little that amounts to. I've been so disheartened by the feeling that this game not only wasn't going anywhere quick, but COULDN'T. You really revived that sense of excitement I once had for DUST by announcing Legion, even though I WAS pretty pissed at how it all went down. My only question right now for Legion is this: Will my Prometheus come back to me? What crack are you smoking? A game 3 years older than dust supported 128 players with larger maps, tress, and better framerates. What good is more power when you can't even accomplish what others before you have? PS3 wan't holding Dust back, cheap chinese labor was. Well said i agree.

Why are you guys leaning towards a skill progression system in Legion that devalues experience and skill investment? Why flatten progression in favor of catering towards newbies?... Don't be like every other FPS that caters to freaks with otherwordly twitch reflexes. I resemble that remark... Did you perhaps mean resent? a newb in english as well i see. Clearly one of us is a moron...and maybe even a 12 year-old. I'll leave it to you and Google to decide which.

I was afraid to hear that. Would release be the earliest the game could be considered "healthy"? Or would it be possible for it to be healthy in beta and then the Ps4 "door" would be looked at? The smaller the gap the easier, though I understand there would be limitations. I'm doubtful that we would be comfortable looking at the console door again before release.
i'm doubtful you'll get much support for legion.

It's not really. They're 2 separate things...asking where we fund the development of Legion is different than asking if there's a relationship between the promotions and the reveal of Legion. While I can't answer your first question, I can assure you that there is no correlation between sales promotions and revealing Legion - as I said in my previous post, we're going to do our best to transfer everything across.
do you guys understand that the appeal of dust was that there was never going to be a 'dust 2'. that's the reason we started playing. there's no 'eve:online 2'.
if you announced eve online 2 at fanfest, what do you think the reaction would be?

We don't have to have a release date -- but it would go a long way to building a bit of credibility if you could say what is under development. If there is nothing under development then we could put that to rest and just get on with enjoying what we have if we can.

That would be a good way to do it, as long as SP is maintained at a 1:1 ratio (or some equivalent, I'm not a game designer :) Whatever happens, we will do what we can to make that transition transparent and fair.
transparency isn't something we've come to expect.

DUST Fiend wrote:xxwhitedevilxx M wrote:DUST Fiend wrote:xxwhitedevilxx M wrote:In other words you're telling us to just "Adapt or die". What's your game as a service? Where is the service? This is just wrong, seriously. The vast majority of this community would have welcomed a ps4 port, I'm sure of it. I'm sure plenty of you would enjoy a mediocre port to the PS4 that would remain as niche an unreceived as this game has been, but there are also plenty of us who want the game to actually succeed. Those of us know that developing for the PC, THEN porting, is the only logical way to accomplish that. Why does it needs to be mediocre? If the game needs to be competitive, then PC is a no-go anyway. There's nothing more, besides the fact we were told this was going to be a sony exclusive. You don't think DUST as is, is mediocre? You think this game is actually a strong competitor in the next gen FPS market?
you heard them already saying the same things about development of legion right? they're going to build the game after launch the 'way the players want it'. it's the same old song and dance.

So you wanted it to stay on PS3 for forever? How good would that have gone? Making it for the PC and THEN porting to the PS4 is how you get the game to where it should have been, as quickly as possible. Trying to port this game to PS4 would just result in a low quality next gen game that never gets much attention because it cannot stack up to the competition.
no. i wanted them to develop the ip on whatever the next platform they chose, and have the game ready to be an extension of dust:514 as they've always said they would do.
providing the game as a service. remember that one?
using the unreal engine as this engine will make it easier to move onto the next platform. remember that one?

I understand where you're coming from on those quotes, and it absolutely wasn't my intention to lie to people. We are still fully committed to developing those games (as mentioned several times), and furthermore DUST and Project Legion are both very much part of the EVE Universe. Again, I understand where you're coming from and it wasn't my intention to come across as "lying" to people - prior to the reveal it was difficult for me to explicitly state the distinction between the work on DUST 514 and Project Legion.
understand that continuing to make a distinction between work on dust and project legion is the root of your problem.

Were still missing 3 nova knives, 2 HAV's, 2 LAV's as well as MAV's and motorcycles. Not to mention the other heavy weapons and much needed balancing. Dust and Legion are not the same game. They've stated it themselves. They are separate games on separate platforms. Dust 514 might not even get any more integration to EVE now. Also, from the sounds of it, Legion won't have EVE integration for at least a year.
a year is VERY optimistic.

they're answering planted questions. questions that directly ask something that they've already answered. they answer those.

And besides that I guess that Dust will stay around for a while for FW, which won't be, if I got that correctly, be implemented in Project Legion from the beginning.
Yes, that is absolutely the plan. While I can't promise it'll be to the same level as the guys on EVE (they're a much bigger team, working on a game that has already launched...) I'll be doing my best to get more community interaction going. Livestreams, behind the scenes videos, AMAs, etc :) Any change of the live stream getting a IRC channel? So we can ask our question directly to the participants of the live stream?
could the devs also stop having conversations where they're not obligated to be honest, or responsible for anything they say?

Sadly, unlike the EVE players, we can't stage a massive online protest, grinding the central trade hub to a halt for a few weeks. Once they started to talk, and deliver on those promises, things quieted down significantly. It is sad that it only took two years for them to forget that lesson.
