Take that from me, of all people, and you might know that to be true. CCP goes a -long way- to making sure the highest respect for their player base with the current team (and they should not be held responsible for the sins of their predecessors). This announcement is evidence of that. They didn't wait for Fanfest for a big reveal, they didn't wait for E3 or some other marketing frenzy, they didn't go straight to the Eve players - they came to you first in a format you're most familiar.
But most of all, they didn't have to. That courtesy has become expected of them when, as far as I know, they're the only non-indie developer that takes the time to engage their community and receive feedback on things that the community really isn't 100% necessary for.
I appreciate that they came here first, and that they didn't wait for FF (even if they had been working on this quite awhile, but I understand why they waited). What I can't understand, with all their caution in not wanting to say anything before something more concrete was in place, is why even discuss 1.3 and allow the CPM to mention they were working on it, if they weren't sure they were going to release it? And why, seeing as how they created an expectation of 1.3s release, they couldn't release it in some form or fashion as a thank you to the community. As it stands, there are a lot of people, who spent many hours not only playing the game, but arguing, creating spreadsheets, and even websites to help better the game, who as a whole helped with both Dust and indirectly Dust 2.0, who will not be in any way, shape, or form be able to reap any rewards for their efforts. 1.3 could have been both a "thank you" and "sorry you can't come with us, we value you" I dunno about you, but I generally don't eat pizza - regardless of how delicious it looks - after the cat sits on it. So this is all Cat Mercs fault?

Because I personally want the disappointment and even betrayal I know some of the community are feeling, as it's been stated to me in private conversations enough times, to be voiced in ways that CCP can't dismiss as "incoherent raging" and thus ignore even more easily. Irrational in this context simply means calling devs names, and other immature behaviour, that has no merits in a constructive conversation. That is actually an excellent point I wasn't prepared for.
Zaria Min Deir wrote:One Eyed King wrote:As a community, we have largely been yanked around, rang out like a rag for money, and misled. That behavior, on the part of CCP, whether intentional or not, suggests a fundamental lack of respect for the player base. Why should anyone bother showing them the respect they have not shown us? Because you don't have to stoop to their level. If you feel disrespected (and I certainly understand if you do), you can still take the high road. I can't answer your questions about how 1.3 was handled, because even without NDA, I really wouldn't have the words. Fair enough.
I appreciate all the hard work you and the CPM have done, and am sorry you guys had to be the ones to deal with this.

Well we can't be that angry. Even though we were basically lab rats for a ****** free-to-play game. I mean let's be honest, this game never really left the beta so there's no reason to be mad. I just feel sorry for the idiots who think that CCP won't **** them over on PC just as much they did on console. Let's be honest though, the freak show that is CCP, because real, live people don't **** with people for 3 years by way of a game, will not be living up to any expectations anyone has for the game. Anyone who thinks so clearly hasn't been playing long enough.

Speaking for myself, no, I was not afraid of losing the voluntary spot on the - ahem - "sham council" (that you guys elected me to). I'm afraid of losing my voluntary spot on a council when I can still do right by the people who put me in this position and, to date, have done so to the best of my ability.
Thinking so short term is what gets a CPM in trouble. A council member needs to think about the longer-stretch and the end goal. You can't beat up over the community's "right to know" when they're going to know anyway from the source itself. It isn't worth risking what you can offer to the community six months, a year, maybe five years from now - even if they never notice the impact you made behind the scenes.
Throwing all of that away just to come out and say, "Oh, by the way" not only risks your position to do greater things, but also ruins your reputation and credibility as well. Assuming anyone would have believed any of us -had- we come out and made this announcement ourselves before CCP was ready.
And my time spent on the council has shown that it is absolutely worth maintaining that position to do right by you guys, even if you do come off as a little pissy every so often.

If I wanted to play a pc driven game don't you think I would play eve by now. So ccp wants to lose the players it's has with gaming consoles that enjoy the game. Are they going to give me the money to go buy a pc since they are not being considerate of pple without them. If it's not on a game console so everyone can play it what's the point. What about the ppl who have invested thousands upon thousands of hours developing their characters into what they are, ccp is just gonna say sorry and everyone accepts it and decides to stay part of their community. Usually in life when someone royally screws you over you don't continue to hang around with them waiting for them to do it again. Ccp obviously has no idea how to get and maintain players based on their history so trashing a good game to start another is a good idea to get players??? Why spend tons of money making a new game when you could invest the money into an already existing great game to make it appealing for new players to want to play. No one wants to play a game where they get killed every time they spawn in. If the matchmaking in dust was adjusted accordingly so new players didn't get stomped maybe they would have stayed. This just shows that ccp doesn't not have the drive to be inovativ winners rather quitters who want to give up at the challenge of improving a game. Sounds like someone is taking the easy way out. |

by any industry standards and by any facts..... When Planetside 2 is more active on the PS4 then it is on PC... It should speak pretty loudly...

Not true. PS2 on PS4 has only 2 servers left.
PC has 5 regional servers plus an events server.

Finally CCP follows through on the vision of a persistent sandbox shooter on the PC, and washes their hands with the console mess. It's about time.

Those two statement's in tandem bum me out immensely. Considering all the promises in the past about not losing the effort we've put in, etc... etc... It kills a desire to come back. New Eden games are built on a bedrock of persistence, destroying that with Dust platform change thanks my trust. Who's to say CCP won't just up and do it again?

Seeing how Planetside 2 was supposed to be a launch title for Sony's brand new console in 2013... And in exchange Sony was going to cover the advertising and marketing...
And it launched a few years late? Not much Marketing was ever done.

People have asked about these 'Tiered Rewards' and what is going to transfer to the new game. The CPM have given their thoughts on this obviously and we hope that the discussion between you and the Dev's on this will happen soon.
Now as to my opinion on the matter and it is only my opinion, my thinking is as follows.
Name carried over is number one priority Corps and your Corp history is the second.
After that, everything is just gravy.
SP, I'd like maybe a head start on players coming to the game new. But I'm not going to sulk if I have to start from scratch.
ISK? Please..... After the glut of it that came from PC1.0 and district farming... kill it all with fire as far as I'm concerned. Start the economy fresh.
AUR. If AUR is to continue as a currency option in Nu Dust and I've got some unspent, then obviously that needs to come over as well. But AURUM refunds like some have asked about... not bothered. I've received the benefit of that AUR via SP boosters and AUR gear so t's not like I didn't get anything for that.
BPO's and Skins. Now I've got an extensive collection of these and yes I did say that I've received the benefits of my Aurum purchases but I'd like something to show for that collection. But obviously BPO's as we know them might not carry over to the new game. So I'll need to see whats on offer about them.

I'll try to remain as polite as possible, as you seem to be unfamiliar with quarterly projections and how accounting works for capital gain based companies.
Your NDA agreement expires, and does not have any consequences or repercussions of consequence of a breach for yourself personally. The worst that could have happened to you; being thrown off a sham council on a game that's ending anyway. In short, you're a temp. You have 0 financial tie to the company.
As it would pertain to the long term status of the council, again it has zero consequence. CCP, can choose to end CSM/CPM position and bodies at any point in time. As, they are are a quarterly based company, they are not concerned with long-term investments. Ruining the reputation of the CPM for future use would not matter, as CPMs have been removed from the council before and investigated for corruption already. Protecting the position means nothing as it can be eliminate without cause at any reason, because you are a temp.
If you were to provide me evidence of you collecting data, or performing as a liaison to CCP development on behalf of the community; I'd gladly remove my label of you as a "puppet". Until then, you have betrayed the playerbase you pledged to represent to side with a company that has committed the last and ultimate disgrace to it's customers.
What's the worst that could happen, lose?
