Have their been any thought and discussions of continuing the institution forward into the new game and the new paradigm? If not, start some! I think having the CPM institution continue onto the new game to give feedback, etc. would be brilliant. Well, I can't really say for sure, because I don't really know for sure! It is unfortunate that we came in during the transition period, but we have also gotten to impact the development of this new project on the ground floor, and that's pretty cool. Going forward, I think CCP understands the importance of community interaction, and I can only hope that means the survival of the CPM as an institution, one way or the other. If Legion was just around the corner, then perhaps the lolCPM would still have meaning. CPM has less meaning than ever, the game has less meaning, the community has less meaning... When will you people realize that CCP has only 1 title to their credit... because they don't know how to build games. They know how to sell; mostly the sale of bullsh!tting people into thinking they care. CPM was invented to curb community out-cry from massive in-game EvE protesting. It's yet another cost-less front CCP uses to make it look like they care when all they want is to suck revenue out of players without providing a decent service in return. CPM is useless and has never been needed, especially in a community this small. The fact that they decided to shut off the servers in just 12 weeks of notice tells that this decision was made much longer ago. All the 'feedback' you can CCP means nothing, as they make all the final decisions. Legion(or whatever project they are working on) is years away from being released, by that time us Dust Bunnies will not care anymore, and CCP can add another failed title to their resume. Just imagine how many projects they started that never even left the drawing board that failed. If CCP had been in the domain of any other country besides Iceland, they'd been out of business and bankrupt by now. So, with CCP not having credibility. CPM certainly has 0. Get over yourselves. As ALL CPMs just wanted the title for selfish gain anyway. At least you could have told us 3 weeks ago when you found out that 3 years of playing, and spending money was for nothing...
17 weeks, not 12.
Vent your anger friend, we respect your opinions (even those of us who disagree with it), but don't expect us to consider changing our opinions unless you are opening to changing your own.
Otherwise, truck on.

It's sad... It's actually quite good. As a PS4 version would've, sooner or later, encountered the same problems like Dust on PS3. I mean another Eve Shooter for a console which is already 3 years old? They are just not making the same mistake again.
And what about an Alienware X51 Console :p ? Yeah but thats the Way it is. How long it takes the next Gen of a Console come out? And what happen then? They port Games like Tomb Raider from old Gen to new Gen. Thats how it is. So why dont do the same with Dust? Just port it |

And this is why I NEVER put any money into this game. You guys let this pile swirl the drain for FAR too long.
Looking forward to a PROPER first-person shooter on PC; I sincerely hope you guys learned some important lessons from the failings of this game.
Power based progression in a first-person shooter is bad, and hopefully you won't make that mistake a second time (and spend years back peddling on your poor decision).
Hopefully the next iteration of this game will have actual good value for purchases, and will look, and run like a first-person should.
AND FOR THE LOVE OF GOD ADD AN FOV SETTING IN THE OPTIONS!

Dude, when they announced Legion and backstabbed console players in april 2014, decision was made in mid-November 2013 at the very least. I challenge anyone to deny that fact as it would simply be dishonest.
We knew as CPM during december and despite my pretty savage push to go public ASAP, it still stayed under the carpet until April because it needed "good communication". Anyone here remembers about "good communication" during FF14 ?
What i remember is rathr a good amount of paid gear to be released between january 2014 and april 2014.
This. 100 billion times this.
I wanted to wait until reading the whole thread before commenting, but this is spot on. Grease up those udders folks, because CCPs gearing up to milk y'all for everything they can get, once again.
As some have said, the kind words of CPM now belong in the time just after FF14. And yet they are here and now. Boil it down and what do you have? Dust will be no more. And what is the answer to all your other questions? Oh, well you know, we can't talk about anything else, nda or whatever. Golly that sounds familiar, that's the sound of something unpleasant in the works. But go ahead and get excited. If you want to practice for next gen Dust, just grab your wallet, dump the contents in the toilet, flush, then call your local cable company and get put on hold. Bam, you are already a seasoned vet for a game that's not out yet.
On a side note, no offense meant to the CPM. I don't know y'all from sh*t, and I respect and understand your commitment to your legal obligation. But I find it hilarious that it's still the same old song and dance. It makes me happy to know that many of the folks who joined after FF14 and defended CCP tooth and nail are losing whatever the f*ck this heap of sh*t is suppose to be **points at Dust**. The responsibility for this farce continuing up until now falls squarely on their shoulders.

CCPGÇÖs development team in Shanghai has been working on a prototype for a first-person shooter for PC with the goal of building a great FPS set in our sci-fi universe of New Eden (the universe in which EVE Online, DUST 514, EVE: Valkyrie, and Gunjack are set). Their experience is being utilized to build a new game from scratch using Unreal Engine 4 while harnessing all our learnings from DUST 514. This is in many ways an evolution of Project Legion, the concept we announced at EVE Fanfest 2014, but without the limitations of technical debt and development paths we quickly discovered in that effort that could never serve as a future-proof technology base for a full production game. This new project is still in an early phase of production, and we feel like weGÇÖre on the right track and plan to give an update at EVE Fanfest on April 21st as a part of the free livestream of the event. Since this new game will be different from DUST 514 (although keeping many of its great parts), we will provide tiered recognition rewards to our loyal DUST customers, details to be announced.
We are very proud of what weGÇÖve learned and accomplished with DUST 514 on PlayStation 3 over the past three years and it is an honor to be a part of such a dedicated community. We consider DUST 514 one of the best free-to-play offerings on the platform, but the years have caught up with us. It is with a heavy heart that we inform you that DUST 514 will be shutting down on May 30th, 2016. We therefore will not be releasing the 1.3 update as we had planned. Players will continue to be able to play for free on our servers until then, but all further PSN packs and purchases have been removed and disabled from the in-game marketplace and the PlayStation Store. Players with existing Aurum will be able to continue to purchase items from the in-game marketplace.
Thank you for being a part of DUST 514 on the PlayStation 3. We look forward to the next chapter, and hope youGÇÖll be a part of it and continue the journey with us. It's about damn time you recognize the failure that was Dust.

CCP,
I just want to thank you guys for Dust 514. I always wanted to be a part of New Eden but didnt have the gaming PC I needed to run EVE. When I heard about Dust, I was all ears.
Dust 514 will always be full of fond memories for me. Even for my wife (or maybe not so much lol) who witnessed my dedication first hand.
I am excited about the evolution of the New Eden FPS concept. Hopefully I can get a PC built to experience it.
Thanks for the ride

I suppose it's somewhat fitting (for me) that my first post is in the prologue of the newest phase of DUST's life. I'm definitely planning to follow this story through whatever setting until the bitter end, and am looking forward to using my over-the-top PC to sate my addiction to (hopefully) EVE: Phoenix in the future. That said, i'm planning to go down fighting as opposed to sleeping in a server bank, like some of you may be. Hopefully i'll see the true mercs on the battlefield for some good times before the plug is pulled, and get to meet a reborn New Eden on the other side of this tunnel. To all of you who've fought alongside me, I salute you. To those of you who've fought against me, I hope I gave you hell. Either way, see you on the ground o7

"Tiered Recognition" is a scary word. But I guess I will give it a shot on what I would want:
ISK? No. If this new game is going to have connection to EVE in a meaningful way, money needs to be redone. But the main point is that money is not that big of a deal, to be honest.
Name/Corporations: Damn straight. My bitter ass has been around since 2/2/13 and I want to keep my name around. Corporations better stick around just for the fact that a New Eden FPS without DUST University is a game that shouldn't be allowed to exist. Plus, let's try to keep our friends together.
Purchases: This is going to be difficult as hell but I think we should get relevant purchases from what we bought. Give us back Aurum we spent. If you are going to use an argument like "it is a new game; why would you expect that?" then I will simply say "everything applicable will transfer" from Rouge and that this statement was never refuted. Not a 'promise' but it should still mean something. Plus, giving back all our Aurum purchases costs CCP NOTHING. Sure, they might not gain money from the players but I guarantee that the good faith would be worth it.
SP? This one is hard. One one hand, I don't think it would be a good idea to have people with 60 million SP on day one. The new players would have a hard time fighting that off. Counter: if ISK doesn't transfer, who cares? We will all be in the same crappy gear for the most part. Someone could bust out the uber gear but without that much money, it would be a losing proposition. Not to mention that the player base will explode because I guarantee you that every EVE player will at least download the game. People could be playing DUST while mining in EVE or playing DUST while trying to get a roam together. The 5,000 bitter vets would be a fairly small percentage, I would think. Maybe even scale the SP delivery so we don't just automatically have perfect passive skills. (Or pull an EVE Valkyrie where there are no skills that give "+5% Shields.")
The problem I will see is purchases though. If my Raven Caldari Assault BPO simply becomes a SKIN, I will be okay with that; I really like the White Camo look. However, if my 100 dollar DREN pack becomes a total of 4 orange SKINs, I will be quite annoyed. What about the people that bought Militia BPO's for like 50 cents each? Give those guys Aurum equivalent to the 5 dollars each they were later and you would have people with a million Aurum (which is why they didn't refund Aurum BPO's when the game came out of beta.)
Still, nice to see the CPM about. This doesn't hurt as much as Rouge Wedding and I am sure that the CPM had a hand in when this was released. Would have been too easy to announce at FanFest for the enthusiasm of the EVE crowd. But I just have one request: If Rouge is going out on stage to talk about DUST 2.0, SOMEBODY TELL HIM THAT A 20 MINUTE KEYNOTE IS UNACCEPTABLE AND THAT THE ROUNDTABLE WILL NOT BE STREAMED.

Guess I'll have to set aside some time in the coming weeks to log in and blow through my gear stockpile and do a final ride with as many of my old crew are still around.
It's been a great, if occasionally frustrating, time and even though I haven't logged since New year's I'm still going to miss this game...but more the people really. I've already forgotten a lot of the names but in almost twenty years of online gaming I'd never felt this connected to a bunch of random people I've never met.
Also, to the CPM, you all are ok in my book. I don't envy you for one second for having to sit on the knowledge you had. Hopefully you'll rest a bit easier now without having to deal with the oncoming doom.

I can't believe this day has come. I've been away from Dust 514 for months now, but i heard it's now shutting down and had to come back here and see it for myself.
And i want to thank you CCP for the experience, this is the latest one in my list of favorite games of all time (probably moving away soon from gaming entirely).
I still remember those wednesdays playing over 20 hrs straight to cap out with a 1-day booster back in the day, when the cap was around 287.000 SP. I was never into shooters before, and from being a complete noob, i got to be a very decent player and even earned my place in the biggest corporation at that time, to become later a somewhat proficient Incubus pilot. Even went flying to Planetary Conquest matches (a few, but stil...). It was a big journey, it was a passion, an obsession, a huge period in my life actually. I even made some friends i still keep contact with and that i talk to from time to time.
Dust got me into shooting games, and i had some really good times with other titles as well, but nothing was like Dust 514. I only resented the tech ceiling that kept the game with a not-so-good video quality and that's honestly the only reason i left.
My wish is that you go far with all the projects for the EVE Universe and find a huge place in the industry, which you deserve. Maybe we'll meet again in some battle, in some game, platform... who knows. Only thing i'm sure of is that you'll see me fighting for the Gallente Federation.

It was expected but the sadness at it's passing isn't lessened any because of it. I wish the best to everyone I've played with over the years on Dust and to the Devs who worked on the project. I feel like the game never really left beta, so having played since open beta I hope you use the info you mined from three years of me being on here to good use. I would like to say I can't wait to play the new version but I'm not getting a gaming PC for one game especially after I already have a PS4. I don't really understand why the game won't go to both platforms considering how similar the PS4 is to a PC so far as the system architecture goes. I'm still holding out hope that one day you'll decide to bring your console players back into the fold and put the game on the PS4 as well.
I think I know a lot.

Initial reaction: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_J6-3l3hCm0 A couple years since the original Project Legion announcement, so I'm excited that this is finally happening and I'm looking forward to seeing how this new game will pan out. There are some questions, though, such as how long has this *really* been in the works and what will happen to our current characters? All answered in due time I suppose.
Things like SKINs could easily be made available on the new game for those already purchased. BPOs could also if there was an actual Industrial component to them similar to EVE's way of doing them.
