These are very sad days indeed. It is a time to put down the mistakes of the path, and it is time to pick up our future. Dust 514 will never die, it will always be remembered in our hearts and we shall always look to it on a day of sorrow where we forget our purpose.
But this is not the end my friends. Like a phoenix, we shall be reborn from the ashes to inhabit New Eden once again. We shall once again be shooting, tanking, repping, piloting, among other things. We shall not be forgotten. I repeat to you. WE SHALL NOT BE FORGOTTEN.
New Eden needs its heroes, and New Eden also needs its villains. But now, we must join together in harmony in this joyous news.
Yet, it is with a great heaviness in my heart to say that our chapter here in the great Universe of New Eden is over, but the book has not yet closed. In due time, and in due process, mercenaries shall be called on once more, AND WE SHALL RISE AGAIN.

Your kindly Richard Uh, no they didn't. The money they got from us was used wisely and they are using it so that even though the game may not survive, the idea and the concept will survive onto another game.
CCP never betrayed us.

After all these years and all this silence, this is the text that came out of the dark corner of the comms department of CCP? Dust deserves a far more better spectacular death. ps. the title of this thread is "the future of dust"... that's just cruel. Think about it like this. Dust is a man with a disease trying to find a way to cure it his whole life. Dust has a son (which ever the new game will be) but dies, unable to find the cure. The son, is finally able to find the cure and cures the disease.
Dust is the parent, the new game, shall be its offspring.

There has never been a game I didn't play that I've spent so much time reading, thinking and wishing I could play more than DUST.
And the news isn't a surprise.... just one of those things we have all waited entirely too long to hear.
Thank you Hilmar for not waiting until FanFest to tell us. Thank you Rattati for keeping this dream alive and well after the last time.
But more than anything else: Thank you to the players of DUST. I love seeing your names on these forums...each of them evoke so many memories (good, bad and ugly).
I really do hope we meet each other across the battlefields of the future.
ahh, what the hell...once more for old time's sake: STARFALL howard I need you with me for these last couple months. You are a great speaker and I need someone like you in Kylo's Fist. Bro, we will take 100% of MH by May 30th or my name is Gerald!

If there's none that's fine, I've had my eye on "Jadek Menaheim" for a while now. They're probably going to prevent low loyalty rank/warpoint alts from going forward to the PC version. This may free up some names which could allow you to scoop up variations of my name that I claimed a long time ago to prevent people from messing with my name in the Dust player market. Day one is going to be a mad dash for name grabs depending on how easy it is to set up accounts. I can finally not have Xx's in front and behind my name. I shall be so happy.

I feel this poem is perfect for exactly how I feel:
Quote:Do not go gentle into that good night, Old age should burn and rave at close of day; Rage, rage against the dying of the light.
Though wise men at their end know dark is right, Because their words had forked no lightning they Do not go gentle into that good night.
Good men, the last wave by, crying how bright Their frail deeds might have danced in a green bay, Rage, rage against the dying of the light.
Wild men who caught and sang the sun in flight, And learn, too late, they grieve it on its way, Do not go gentle into that good night.
Grave men, near death, who see with blinding sight Blind eyes could blaze like meteors and be gay, Rage, rage against the dying of the light.
And you, my father, there on the sad height, Curse, bless, me now with your fierce tears, I pray. Do not go gentle into that good night. Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

I can't say I didn't warn everyone numerous times that this would happen. They can try, but I don't think they'd be able to.

When you think about it, this probably the best action they had as it would have died on PS3 anyway.

Vapor Forseti wrote:I don't own a gaming PC nor do I plan on getting one anytime soon, but I do wish CCP the best in this project.
Dust, while not the most top quality piece of work out there, will always hold a special place in my heart. My first FPS I've ever played (and only game that became a strong addiction which led to a bittersweet relationship lmao) and super glad I decided to give one of those "simple-minded shooter games" a chance, haha.
I've had the amazing experience of gradually climbing through corporation ranks, from recruiting blueberries that grew on me, to managing the corporation wallet, till finally ending up as a director under one of the few who I can truly call my bestest friend, Titan-God - CEO of THE-TITANS. Remained its director for quite a while until the entire corporation proceeded to merge with Vengeance Unbound, being demoted to Logistics Officer due to VU's current CEO at the time having a lack of trust towards me. Wanting to feel like a merc fresh into freedom (and bluntly just disliking VU), I resigned, left the corp, and decided to go my own path from there on out, ultimately ending up with the Nyains and just having an all around great time with the JP community. My second home, though I still frequently squaded with Titan-God on the side. IRL duties unfortunately got in the way much much later, so having almost no time to invest into Dust, I labeled myself as retired and ended up in Internal Error.
So a gigantic thank you to CCP for giving me endless hours of good times, and for allowing me to meet the most awesome folks from around the globe, from Europe to Asia to Oceania (in which two newer blueberries goofing around in that desolate server encountered a lone me once, hit me up with a squad invite, and it just took off from there. Some of my greatest friends ever, those two. We still talk frequently to this day).
Godspeed guys. And in the meantime, I'll continue to read EVE: Empyrean Age and delve into Templar One once I finish the prior. 7o
