//OOC: Um... I must have probably missed some crucial piece of information, but nothing of that sort comes to my mind at the moment. I'm just gonna take a guess and say that it's the objects somehow altered with magic that can't be absorbed? After all, the Void could consume neither the enchanted Ultimatum nor Nexhawk's augmented blows... That seems to be the only logical explanation for me.
P.S. Really sorry if I'm missing something obvious, I'm sort of tired as I'm writing this, so my thought process can be a little...slow. //End of OOC\\ |

Finding the Venezzian army was not really difficult.
Men and women, soldiers and medics, retreated from Karthage, filled with terror and dread that were seeded into their feeble minds by the thunderous explosion on the city's main street. It certainly didn't help that their commander himself was last seen in the explosion's epicenter. Could the sudden reappearance of Alixenus bring hope back into their hearts?
Nexhawk was silently wondering at the Venezzians' inevitable reaction as his two Phoenixes landed in front of the running crowd. Many voices gasped as their owners' eyes had spotted their commander sitting unconsciously on one of the majestic birds of flame; the Ashborn, then, spread his arms and called to the astonished humans.
"People of Venezzia! Your leader, noble Alixenus, miraculously lives! It is now up to you to bring him back from the darkness between the worlds of the living and the dead, but know this: it is he who you must thank for your salvation! Look," Nexhawk prostrated his hand forward, and the multitude of eyes followed where it was pointing, "the terrible golems, summoned only by the most horrifying creature this land has ever seen, have been obliterated by the explosion of iyo that your leader has caused. Tend to him, nurture him, and bring him back to us!"
Having said these rallying words, Nexhawk placed Alixenus' limp body before a group of Venezzian healers that hurriedly ran up to him, and Fel'ir lifted his master back in the air, with the second Phoenix following in tow. The Ashborn knew that he left the commander in the right hands, and his next destination was Thanatos' location; he wanted to check how the fallen king was faring at this point.
//OOC: Alixenus, while writing this post, I've noticed that I once again started making the mistake of switching 'i' and 'e' in your name accidentally (an erroneous habit that I thought I had gotten rid of a long time ago). Looking back at my several last posts, I realize that I've been doing it for quite some time now, again. Thus, I'd like to ask you to forgive this error of mine, and here's hoping that it won't repeat itself for a third time. //End of OOC\\ |

For Ignatus, that day was a blur.
When Nexhawk and Thanatos took to the skies in order to check on Xavier, he followed them and traced their course on the ground, separating himself from Alixenus and Sandromin. Soon enough, the floating platform was between himself and the gathering of the leaders, while the Phoenixes and their riders already traveled far above it. He watched on as Venezzians bravely and successfully brought the giant platform down, but he could not instantly join the raging fight, for the rubble left of the medical facility was blocking his way and line of sight.
Ignatus tore through the ruins just in time to witness Nexhawk draw upon Sol'Krin's powers to summon a lightning from the sun to strike a mysterious foe, who promptly proceeded to absorb the blow. He disappeared soon afterwards, and Ignatus watched Nexhawk fly away with lifeless Thanatos on the two mounts. He now faced a vast army of golems, who in turn were facing the Venezzians gathered on the other end of the collapsed platform.
Several golems, however, noticed the line Ashborn and abandoned their formation to hunt down this new enemy. To be exact, five of them approached Ignatus, and yet they could do no harm to him. Ignatus moved around them in a firestorm, meanwhile sending powerful fireballs and igniting their mindless bodies. Their flesh melted away under the assault of enchanted flames, and after some time, all adversaries of the Ashborn have fallen.
And then he heard the explosion.
Ignatus did not see the explosion itself and the panic that ensued among the Venezzians, but he recognized the direction he had to go in. Augmented by fiery magic, he ran rapidly across the devastated landscape, catching glimpses of the retreating Venezzian army. At last, he noticed Nexhawk in the distance, flying alone on his own mount, with the other Phoenix, riderless, following closely behind. Ignatus sighed in relief, glad that the Fiery Lord did not get harmed by the explosion, and ran through the city to meet the leader of the Ashborn. |

OOC: Wow, I never realized there was such a strong Venezzian influence in the capital of Diyad. It's great to have so many writers to flesh out the elements that we each introduce.
This post is best read while listening to the first 5 minutes of Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata, my inspiration for these past two posts.
Blackness. Still blackness... How long had it been? It didn't really mater did it? He was alone in the dark space. Waiting to see what vision would appear next.
Once more he was but a flame in the darkness. However this time he was not alone. Another flame was before him. IT had no distinct color. It seemed to be ageless, yet it was tired.
"I knew you would return one day."
"I don't understand what this is. What happened? Where did Alixenus go?"
"He is in the realm of the living once more. Did you not know? Could you not feel it?"
"I just don't understand. What does this all mean? Why am I here right now? My kingdom is being attacked by... by HER..."
"The wicked Fate. I know. Even now she schemes to wipe out the Trinity, and prevent the flame from finding what he seeks."
"Who... are you?"
"I'm no one. Not anymore. I'm just a tool now. To help her with her deeds. Trapped in a forsaken clock. I've been waiting so long for you. To free me. I've sought you through the several cycles of this world. I wish to join One, and you are my only means to."
"I still don't understand, who am I to be so important?"
"Do you still not know? You've named yourself a force as definite as Death. Do you think this is merely a title? Do you not remember who you were before you lived? WHO ARE YOU? You are a part of this epic play. You must guide the protagonists to their TRUE FATE."
"Protagonists, you mean Sandromin, Alixenus, Brutus?"
"Yes. However they are not the only ones. There are others. Ones you have not met. I know who they are. The last of his kind, who seeks his purpose in this world. The brave one, with an enchanted item. The children of the lost blood, and the unmet queen. So many parts to play, so man roles that must be filled. That is your purpose, cast these roles and set the play in motion. Lead the characters to the climax. You must prepare the HEROES and return to your once and future throne."
"But... but how will I do this? How do I regain this power, these memories?"
"You must go on this expedition. Follow the others on Sandromin's trek. Through this path, all will come to you. When that happens you may give to them... I'm afraid I must not stay much longer. I do not have the power to exist here any longer. Now I will be but a husk. Merely a tool... Goodbye, my friend. When you succeed shall we meet, in a new life, in a new world."
"..."
The flame disappeared and left Thanatos alone. This was his last vision. His body would lay still and lifeless... |

One: Praecantaria had a naturally low population of mir compared to the lands of us normals, so perhaps a large band of routed marines would be equivalent in size to an army to them. Two: I actually had a **** tonne of Marines beside me and didn't know it. Three: Some Venezzian dignitary is in town and he and his retinue (which would naturally be huge) got mixed in with the Marines. |

//OOC: The Second Eye is on the island of Logipriests, in a secret room inside the same temple where the Dark Arcanum was used by Thanatos (which had caused his death, if my memory still serves me well). Be careful though, the temple is being scoured by a couple dozen of Ashborn as we speak!
To answer your second question, hopefully we'll go to Arteum (hope I spelled it correctly) right after cleaning up all the mess left by the Void (one wishes that it includes the revival of Alixenus and Thanatos). From there, we should somehow find Conyr, although I've no idea now how to do that since he's left to Brutus' homeland aboard one of the Venezzian ships. And then there is the underground resistance/revolution developing in Gran Arcadia, so this probably has to be resolved as well. So much to do, so much to see... //End of OOC\\

The dark skinned man looked at Franklin with outright confusion. He had light brown eyes, and dark hair. He wasn't very young, neither very old. Perhaps in his early forties. He was large and muscular. He also had a deep scar across the front of his exposed neck. His crimson armor was not like the others. It had several gold components. The torso was thin and he had one larger shoulder piece. He didn't have an armet(type of helmet) like the other soldiers, which Sara believed made them look like birds. The armor seemed to share qualities of several different designs. It wasn't as elegant or intricate like Diyadian armors, but it wasn't heavy or simplistic like others. He spoke with a deep voice that was both confident and commanding. He had the air of a natural leader.
"Mind explaining this whole thing to me Ratt?"
"Of course Marco, of course. But where do I begin is the true question. I was out gathering information on the Octophanta, and all I could hear was the charging of guards and a large rumbling sound. Before I even knew it Brutus had knocked me over after jumping from a building. Even more peculiar was that he had Sara. Apparently he knows King Thanatos personally, as well as high ranking officials from other surface nations."
"Are you serious!?! The first giant any one from this land has seen in centuries, and he has such strong political ties. Does he lead a nation of giants?
" I don't think so."
" If he knows the King maybe he can get him to help us."
"I'm afraid not, that trouble with the Briggs has put the city on lockdown. No more transports."
"Darn! He says he wants to help us though, maybe he can. With a giant on our sides the tide may have turned. This doesn't explain why Sara is here though."
"Yes yes Sara. It seems that she snuck on a transport to get here. She must have been looking for her brother. Like I predicted he found us instead. Now we're here. Narrett's injuries aren't too bad are they."
"From what I've seen he's lost a bit of blood. Shouldn't be too bad though. If we're lucky he'll be up before the sun sets."
A man comes up and whispers into Marco's ear. Marco looks slightly alarmed but not troubled.
"I have to go. you and the giant can help yourselves to any food or drinks we have at the bar over there."
OOC: There is going to be a timeskip. So if there are any questions you may have for Franklin or other various interactions with soldiers, please do so.

OOC: Just to be clear, minor timeskip.
A week had now passed since Venezzia's finest had set sail and it was beginning to look like this journey would take the record for the most uneventful voyage in the Republic's history. The weather had been had clear, the winds favourable and apart from some sort of current pushing the ships back, the seas were calm. The only incident that had occured was a casualty aboard one of the Galleys. The smaller vessels had rowed ahead of the fleet to practise with the siege weapons. A ballista team aboard a Trireme had misjudged the distance so instead of the practise bolt sailing straight over a galley to strike another Trireme, it hit struck a sailor walking on the deck of the Galley out cold for the rest of the day.
It was second watch after first light. Ravena was on the Quarter deck observing the fleet around him when the alarm was sounded. "SAIL ASTERN!" Ravena quickly about faced and with the help of a Brazen spyglass observed that was indeed a ship coming up behind them, a Galley, judging from the size and shape of the sail. Not long after this he noticed a Raven heading toward the fleet. It landed on one of the cargo vessels bringing up the rear. Ravena could just make out the captain taking something, presumably a message, from the Raven before releasing it. As the Raven flew back towards the lone galley, the Cargo vessel hoisted signal flags up its centre mast.
Lombardi wandered into the Admiral's quarters a few minutes later, leafing through various reports on supplies and illnesses among the army. He looked up to see Ravena at his desk, staring pensively into a glass of Wine. "You do realise that we have Port aboard?" Lombardi began "Not while I'm on duty, never liked the flavour much anyway" "So what's this about?" Lombardi asked as he sat down "We recieved a signal from the Republic. Lord Alixenus has been injured. I don't know how, I presume he came afoul of that storm we saw as we left port." "So what does this mean for us?" Ravena rose and looked out of a porthole. "It means nothing. We have our orders, the other alliance nations will be sending their leaders or token forces to join us sooner or later. Alixenus will recover and then he can take command of the campaign" "This isn't going to be good for morale." "No. But these men are professionals, they'll do their job, with or without a Hero behind them. Make sure they don't forget that." Lombardi nodded and departed, mumbling something about checking on his Squire. Ravena sighed and looked out the porthole a while longer watching as the fleet cut through the waves. |

Sandromin's blade was drawn. The 'man' cloaked in black had no face, and in its place was a mask; made of adamantium, the mask was ornately carved, depicting the visage of an ancient philosopher. While he was gazing upon his mask, he saw with his visage that the man had no aura, yet was conjuring blue flames across his body. Unfazed by this fact, Sandromin moved swiftly for the first strike.
Immediately, Sandromin leaped into the air, igniting his adamantium sword to make his attack more furious. While Sandromin was coming down upon the person, there was a quick moment where he felt a quick surge through his body. Once his attack came down, Sandromin saw that the man was not there; instantly, he realized where he had gone.
Sandromin turned around and found himself gazing upon his mask again.
"You seem puzzled. I haven't even had the pleasure of introducing myself; I am the --" began the man, suddenly cut off as Sandromin lunged his sword into his heart.
As soon as Sandromin did that, the man faded away into a vapor. Suddenly, he felt his presence behind him again.
"Well, how rude! Unlike my brother, the Void, who you had the pleasure of detecting earlier at Gran Arcadia, I am rather cultured. Now, please allow me to introduce myself. I am Fade," revealed the man, giving his full identity.
"If you were TRULY cultured, why did you begin by threatening me? Why are trying to kill me?!" retorted Sandromin, questioning the Fade's intentions.
"I have an explanation for that, but if I told you, you'd simply respond by trying to kill me in return! One does not simply reveal all his tricks at the onset of a fight. How uncultured of you to try to kill me without even trying to have a little fun," wittily responded Fade.
"Enough of this, you will lose at my hands!" angrily shouted Sandromin.
Sandromin had had enough of this meaningless conversation. If he could not figure out his intentions and abilities through interrogation, then he would have to find it out through force. However, something was putting him off. He did not know what it was, but something was quite wrong.
Again, Sandromin slashed at Fade. Yet again, Fade had disappeared.
What is he doing to avoid my attacks? I see no powers in effect here. Nothing makes sense here, thought Sandromin.
He turned to look at the man again, but something was different. The mask... it was angrier. In fact, it had changed into the visage of an ancient warrior. Even his demeanor seemed full of wrath.
"You are a blot upon Dustia that I must remove. In the name of Fate, I shall erase your existence!" began Fade.
Something is different. In fact, I would say that he's a completely different person from before. I fear that I may not win this fight on account of not knowing what I'm facing. Well, I guess I'll have to stall until I can create a strategy to fight him...
OOC: I still have a plan as to how this enemy works in terms of abilities. I'd like to fully expound upon this fight; however, feel free to throw out some conjecture as to what he does. |

//OOC: The Void's brother, huh? This might be harder than I thought...
Anyways, I have two theories about what this new adversary can do. Due to the lack of evidence, neither one of them can yet be proven or refuted. Here they go:
1) Fade is actually not one, but two entities, which differ slightly through such things as demeanor, just like what we've already seen. These halves appear to be the calm, witty Fade and the angrier one. At a certain moment, only one out of two halves can be 'active', that is, visible and actually present in the mortal plane. Therefore, Fade keeps swapping between the calm and the angry self, meanwhile positioning both entires so that the enemy is constantly kept between the two.
2) Fade is an ethereal entity that can move freely through our plane without any restraints and at a blinding speed. When others see Fade then...they see a manifestation of their prevailing emotion. When Sandromin approached the hidden enemy with a tranquil countenance, Fade also appeared calm and, at the same time, mocking, with aim to shatter this peace inside Sandromin. He succeeded, and once the king of the sandmen had gone angry, Fade mirrored that feeling as well, in turn fueling Sandromin's anger more and more and potentionally driving him reckless enough to reveal his weaknesses. Hence, Fade draws on his enemies' emotions to turn the fight to his advantage by manifesting them in his presence.
P.S. Of course, there is a third, sort of a clich+¬ explanation, where Fade just teleports around with magic, but his powers can't be detected because he is, well, a god. But this seems kinda boring, in my opinion. //End of OOC\\ |

//OOC: I agree with your proposition and feel that this list of points should suffice. I'll start then:
Nation Colors: Red/Crimson, Black (fire and embers).
National Animal: Phoenix (it closely resembles the nature of the Ashborn themselves in the fact that both races come from ash in the beginning, and to ash they return in the end).
Flag Description: An orange hand (palm facing outward) with yellow flames on the fingertips is centered on a dark gray-crimson background.
Standard Weapons: Aside from magic, obsidian swords and staves, very often enchanted with fire as well.
Armor worn: Ashborn Magi, who utilize spells and staves most of the time to hit from afar, usually wear hooded crimson robes and cloaks with black embroidery. Battle Magi, who use swords and spells for close-quarter combat, also wear obsidian plate armor under their cloaks, which is usually also enchanted to protect against enemy magic or damage the attackers. The armor includes a cuirass, leg plates, gloves, and boots. Helmets are not worn by the mages; instead, they rely on their senses and enchanted hoods to protect heir heads from projectiles.
National tree: Cendren, the tree that can freely grow on ashen soils and drop leaves that serve as food for Phoenixes.
Values: Education and training of magical abilities since childhood.
Notable Laws/Rights: The usage of spells other than those of the school of Sun and Flame are prohibited among the Ashborn. As such, any international marriage on Praecantaria is also outlawed due to the desire to conserve racial integrity. There is, on the other hand, universal suffrage; all adult Ashborn could vote to elect the members of the ruling Council in Abismonus. Ardorium, however, did not yet see this practice due to just developing from a refugee gathering into a full nation, led by Nexhawk.
Notable Attractions/Landmarks: The Core, in the past the capital of Abismonus, is a giant spherical city floating in the air; it includes many different levels and a central chamber, where the Council used to gather. It is on on its way to the recently born nation of Ardorium.
Common Religion/Practices: All Ashborn worship Sol'Krin, the god of the sun, for it was he who gave the powers of the flame to one of the Firstborn Mir. Different temples were scattered over Abismonus, where any Ashborn could come and pray to the god. However, the deity would only show himself to the leaders of the nation, and it was rare when a lower-ranked Mage would see a vision of Sol'Krin. These temples had always housed several priests of Sol'Krin, who could heal Ashborn from injuries and interpret their dreams to search for signs from the sun god. Spodium is seeing a construction of one such temple undergoing right now.
Phew, that is one long wall of text. Hope it doesn't get too boring to read! //End of OOC\\ |

//End of OOC\\

So what do you guys think? Any more to add?
Nation Colors: Red, Gold National Animal: N/A Flag Description: N/A, as the Sand nation bases itself off of multiple city states with their own clans and factions who elect a king to rule the nation. Standard Weapons:
-The Scimitar -The Javelin -Assorted Pikes and Spears (roughly 7-9 feet in length) -The Arista (a curved short sword used by an officer, usually made of adamantium) -War Hammers to bruise people under armor
As for ranged weapons, we use the following: -Revolvers (as gifts to the highest dignitaries and generals) -Long revolvers -Ballistas -Crossbows (obsolete but still in use by militias and roughly 30% of the military) -Long bows (which oddly enough have not gone obsolete, merely due to the fact that rope is usable in conjunction) -Burning tar (a special mix of liquids used to burn out buildings and such)
Armor Worn: -Standard Soldier- scale armor (not adamantium, linked together with a leather backing) in order to promote mobility, silken greaves, a standard silk or sanish (a native oasis plant that is a standard crop; very smooth when the fibers are weaved together) cloak, leather boots, a helmet of Galea (Roman) style with a soft-leather coif, chain skirt, plate knee caps, a round metal shield backed by leather 2-3 feet in diameter, and leather gauntlets
-Officer- scale armor (non-adamantium, leather backing), plate half-pauldrons, chain backed by silk greaves, silk or sanish cloak in clan/faction/branch/division colors, leather boots with a metal heel, an adamantium helmet of Galea style (same as standard) with a coif in colors, chain skirt, " shield, banner in colors, a silken sash around the waist in colors, plate knee caps, and gauntlets
-High Vanguard- the above armor but half plate, half scale armor instead, and an added layer of underneath chain armor
-Scouts- silk/sanish and leather greaves, scale pauldrons, chain cuirass, leather boots, leather gauntlets, silk shirt
-Cavalry- same as standard
-Militias- a mishmash of everything
-Kinsmen- Officer armor in full adamantium
-King's Vanguard/Champions- Vanguard armor in adamantium
-The Eternal Champion (a buried man who unified the clans and conquered the deserts; he extended Sandmen influence and established the Sandmen identity and their strength)- Engraved adamantium armor, backed by high grade leather, and a masterfully weaved silk clothes, robes, and sashes, and a mask forged as a gift from the dwarven nomads (in particular a master craftsman whose name was lost to the sands of time); all of this armor was locked inside of a tomb within Arteum and has been used 3 times in crises throughout the ages. Only the leader who can pass the trials of the tomb and claim the armor may use it. Upon completion of use, it is returned through a magic spell placed on it. For a comparison, compare it to artifacts of Tamriel
Tree: Answered already
Values: We parallel the 4 qualities of Roman virtue (but in our own terms and words)- -Pietas- Duty and Devotion to the One -Dignitas- the weight and strength of one's Dignity, Pride, and Reputation -Gravitas- the Gravity and importance of one's being and situation -Virtus- the virtues of a man: valor, courage, character, and worth These attributes are taught to all in our culture through actions and events.
Notable Laws/Rights: Torture is completely legal and the ends are justified by the means in our culture. The fact that the nation is a loose collection of city states is another one. Since there are many city states, rights vary throughout the land, but typically follow orthodox views in terms of moral ground.
Landmarks: plenty of oases and fun in the sun
Common Religion/Practices: Belief in the One is prevalent with around 4/5 of the population and the last fifth believes in Freedom's ideals |

Brutus walked around for a bit, but like so many times before he grew bored. And when he grew bored, he started to think. He thought of a few things. Why had the ferals arrived only months after the war between the imperials and free people's ended..Why did he think whenever he had nothing to do immediately? Were his siblings still alive? Could he hold to his promise to being the miracle ore to the other nations?would he ever even see his homelands again? And if he did, would they be better than they were? He kept thinking and walking not noticing were he had gone until he knocked over several rifles, which all simultaneously discharged making a noise similar to a mountain exploding. The soldiers in the immediate area all stared at Brutus who could do nothing but stand staring at the horrible weapons. He looked up and thankfully saw no one was hurt, or worse. "Uh, mister giant?" One of the younger soldiers asked tentatively. "Brutus." "Pardon?" "Name is Brutus. Not giant. Or mister. Or sir. Just, Brutus." Brutus said hoping he had covered all the bases of pleasantries. "Uh...Brutus. Are you alright?" "Yes. Why?" The solider pointed at one of the rifles that fell. The muzzle was aimed at Brutus' chest and a flat disc of soft metal was crumpled on the ground in front of the giant. "Oh." Was all Brutus said. He had thought he would have died if the guns had hit him. "Your lucky those weren't charged with-" the boy trailed off as Marco ran to the giant. Thirty seconds later Franklin came as well, huffing loudly the portly man doubled over red faced. "Bru...brut.... Oh my..." Franklin looked up at his giant friend after he finally had caught his breath. "Are you alright, Brutus?" Franklin asked with concern. "Yes. Armor still work." "O thank goodness..." And with that Franklin passed out from over exertion. Brutus quickly scooped up his friend in his arms and cradled him, like an obese child with a mustache. "Brutus, Franklin will be alright." Marco said trying to stifle a laugh. "Don't want Franklin on ground. Get dirty in nice clothes." Brutus said. "Yes...well. Brutus, I would like to officially introduce myself. I am Marco, the leader of the rebels." Marco bowed. "I am honored to have a diplomat-" "Brutus, no diplo-mat." The giant quickly said. "I'm sorry?" Marco asked, looking confused. "Brutus is just Brutus. Just friends with Thanatos. And Sandromin and fiery men and Nexhawk. Even kinda friends with dwarf -man Xavier. Brutus best -good -friends with Alixenus. And Conyr and Sara, even Franklin." Marco looked more confused. "Brutus not diplo-mat. Brutus just have good friends." Marco nodded. "I see." He said understanding what he meant. "So...can friend Marco, help Franklin?" The man smiled in a friendly manner. "Of course, Sir Franklin is a friend of mine as well. As is Sara and the snake as you call him." "Good. Help Franklin. Then Brutus help you." The giant said happily. "That's all you want? For us to help Franklin?" "And snake-man. And Sara." Marco chuckled at the giant. Never had he expected something of such strength, such...power, to be so, caring, gentle. Childlike almost. The giant made Marco smile. "We will help you Brutus." "And Brutus will help Marco."

OOC: Nation Colors: green, mainly
National Animal(what it represents): Jungle Boar. It's moods are as unpredictable and diverse as the jungle itself.
Flag Description: Green background, with two golden vines twining around each other to form a circle.
Standard Weapons: None. Hand-to-hand combat, I suppose.
Armor worn: loincloths
National tree: All plantation/vegetation is respected by the logipriest nation. Although we like vines.
Values(such as Athens-education and Sparta-military): Harmony and promiscuity (when Fate attempted to seduce Conyr, she knew about the logipriests' active sexual lives. It was meant to be extremely difficult to Conyr, a logipriest on the cusp on manhood, to resist)
Notable Laws/Rights (like gay marriage, or women can't vote): Inflicting pain upon other organisms is forbidden. Our own bodies are naturally repulsed by it.
Notable Attractions/Landmarks: Dense jungle, with ruins of long lost civilisations scattered throughout. Channel between the mainland and the logipriest island has one bridge spanning it, created by logizombies.
Religion/Cultural practices: All newborn infants are taken care of by the whole community. We believe in restoration, and that ultimately, there is good in everyone.
_____
Conyr knelt beside the sailor. Conyr lightly pressed the injury with his right palm. Natyli's voice swam into his head, as if she were standing right next to him.
"What do you feel, Conyr? Feel it. Your palm isn't yours. It's an extension which joins your body and the patient's. The patient's body is now yours; you are now the patient. What is ailing you? What hurts you?"
Tears flooded the logipriest's eyes as the memory of the older logipriestess overwhelmed him. But he didn't lift the palm away. Her training was too good for such weakness.
The ballista bolt was blunt, but at such force it had still punctured a hole in the man's abdomen. Conyr felt the gaping hole through the bandages, felt the hole in his own midriff. He winced, but forced it into a grimace and bared his teeth; he was stronger than this.
The bolt had miraculously missed the stomach and all vital organs; however it had tore through the wall of the large intestine. If left untreated, infection would be unavoidable.
The doctors of the fleet had done the best they could, applying disinfectant and bandaging the wound. They, like Conyr, deduced that no vital organs had been hit. However, the logipriest's fine-tuned sense detected the destroyed intestinal wall which an experienced doctor would have noticed as well. Those who treated this low-ranked sailor would've probably been apprentices.
Leaving his hand on the injured area, placed his left palm on the man's forehead.
"What do you mean, you can't tell what temperature his forehead is? How hot is it outside? You don't know that either? What kind of logipriest are you!"
This time Conyr smiled as Natyli's voice repeated the lesson in his mind. He missed the others. But he shook his head, now was the time to concentrate.
Even taking into account his own hand which was cool from the breeze outside, and the stifling heat of the cabin he just entered, the man's forehead was much too high. Feverish. Time would only worsen his condition.
"Only when you KNOW it can survive, do you help. DO NOT try save someone who's going to die!"
"But why, Ms. Natyli?"
"Don't why me, boy! You're not strong enough to challenge death and live!"
Luckily, Conyr had been hiding up in the crow's nest of the Galley which the misfired bolt had struck. If he hadn't reached the injured sailor as soon as the doctors treated him, it may have been too late. But now...
Conyr closed his eyes, and released the breath he had been holding as he had diagnosed the injury.
"Remember, exhale your power. Don't force it out through your hands. We've been gifted with the breath of life, not the fist of foolishness."
Golden streams of light, softly glowing in the dim cabin, poured from Conyr's mouth, twined around his arms, and into the body of the sailor. The minutes ticked by, and still Conyr exhaled, as if his lungs had expanded tenfold and could hold enough air for him to swim to the bottom of the ocean and back.
The last stream of light was absorbed into the sailor's body, and Conyr rocked back on his heels, breathing heavily. The man was breathing regularly now, and his forehead was already cooler. Conyr stood up and snuck outside and dashed quickly back up to the crow's nest, returning to his observations of the seamen and sailors and captains as they directed the Venezzian fleet onwards. He looked at the flagship in the distance, regal and distinct in its elegance.
Then he sneezed.
Hmm, that's strange. Is someone talking about me?
Must be Brutus.
And Conyr smiled for the second time that day, as he recalled his big friend. It seemed like so long ago he had stood on the giant's shoulder... (OOC:almost as long as 60 pages worth of reading) |

Nexhawk had just landed near the spot where he previously left Thanatos, as he recognized a very familiar face nearby.
"Ignatus!"
The two Ashborn approached each other and shook hands quickly. "So what was going on with you?" inquired Nexhawk.
"Got trapped inside the ruins when that platform collapsed," replied Ignatus. "Took me quite a while to dig through them and then fight these...creatures. But they didn't offer any trouble. And I have to admit, I'm glad to see you unscathed by that explosion!"
"I was not in that area when it happened; I was delivering unconscious Thanatos over here." Nexhawk and Ignatus started walking towards where the king in question was resting. "Alixenus and a Diyadian Alkemist caused it, though," the Fiery Lord continued grimly. "Alixenus survived due to some barrier that the Diyadian placed on him at the cost of his own live."
"Yes, I saw you transporting Thanatos away from the battlefield," Ignatus recalled. "And now, we have two of the nation leaders incapacitated?"
"Apparently so," Nexhawk shrugged, as the two came up to the group of Alkemists. He whispered to Ignatus, "Unlike Alixenus, Thanatos showed no signs of life yet." Then he turned to one of the Diyadians and asked him, nodding at Thanatos, lying on his back nearby, "How is he?" |

OOC: Good thing our infertile lands, terrible terrain, and dangerous beasts act as a deterrent to exploration, eh, Alixenus?
Sandromin had been fighting for several hours at this point. Thus far, Fade proved to be quite erratic. When he donned his warrior mask, his fighting skills matched that of Sandromin's own. Against him while wearing a philosopher's mask, Sandromin found he could not strike him at all. In fact, over the course of these hours, he had seen several masks.
Fade had a mask of an ancient priest. His piety would be overbearing, and Fade would spout nonsense about Fate being the one true god. Oh, and there were also lightning bolts. Fade would channel lightning itself to destroy Sandromin in the name of Fate. But next, Sandromin saw another mask. This time, Fade had the visage of a thief. As soon as Sandromin saw him, Fade disappeared. Limited to blocking his stealthy attacks, Sandromin could not even spot Fade. It was as if he was truly invisible; only reflexes could help Sandromin in this situation.
This man... his abilities have no clear counter. I wonder whether I should be able to defeat this man...
"That look of confusion, very depressing to a man like me," spoke Fade, obviously reverting back to his philosopher persona. "Well, unfortunately for you, I must go back to Fate. She does not like it when kept waiting, and I don't like it when I die. I must go now, thought I do have a request for you: When you see my brother, say hello for me. Also, tell him to quit being an arrogant fool and believing in his own immortality. He will be killed one day, and I will go into mourning because of his pride. For now, I say goodbye!"
With that Fade disappeared. Sandromin was left wondering about his powers, but for now, he must continue his work in Arteum. Maybe later, he could meditate on defeating this being named Fade. |
