Meditation is required of the great writers. The philosophers are sitting at the table, choosing the fate of the world's future minds, all with a finesse. Give it a minute or two to sink in, and soon, ideas will spew forth, leaving their residue on your minds. So yeah. |

Mummified, huh? Not much comes to my mind amidst the Arizona deserts, but I can drag Nexhawk over to Alixenus' body and ask loudly about this outrage if you want to. It doesn't seem that Thanatos will wake up any time soon. //End of OOC\\ |

[OOC]*clears throat* Well, if none of you mind, I'm going to head over to your temple now, and steal the eye. Don't worry, the Ashborn will die a painful and frightful deaths.
And I can do that because they are not main characters. Hooray!
Also, what is the eye going to do again? I've forgotten half the story! I was in the medical bed, fought you, pushed in the portal, and was going to be teleported somewhere. Oh, well, here goes!
[/OOC]
All around Xavier, the jungle bellowed. Various birds chirped and squawked as they flew away, away from the sound that startled them. The ground below was lush and thick with brush, color which ranging from across the spectrum. Blue, green, violet. Even the occasional strips of crimson could be seem, possibly a foreshadow to future events.
It had been a while before he stepped into the land of the Logipriests. That long lost nation, where only a few remain. It was all so simple, the stands, the houses. Everything about their culture had an aura of happiness and content. But now, all there was only the lost sounds of the damned in it's place.
Xavier stepped out of the brush and onto the street. It was run down and dilapidated. The cracked stone of the houses were crumbling as we speak, destroying the old homes of children, wives, and fathers. The sky was a dull blue, as if it was mourning for the people who never had a chance too. And in the distance, a large structure was present. The old temple. Where everything started. Where everything changed for Xavier. Where the book lashed it's slimy claws on him. Poor Xavier! Woe be onto him!
He began to walk. As he did so, the voices of many demons ruptured into a chorus in his mind. A chorus of pain and loneliness. A chorus of evil and hate. They taunted Xavier. Pleaded with him. Saying things that he could not comprehend, for the voices were muffled. Whispers. Very distant whispers. As he walked, shades of the dead formed around him. Going about their very lives, as if they still lived them. Wives cooked. Children played. And husbands started to lift their weary heads.
Then the horror came. Mods of people rushed towards the houses, blood in their mouths and rage in their eyes. Their stomachs with thin, you could see their ribs through their clothes.
Xavier fixated his gaze on one house. Two children where playing in the yard. A husband was kissing his mate. A happy family. A perfect family. A family that everyone should strive for. The mob went to them. Their blood-curling screams rang throughout the town, causing tiny shews to scurry away. The children stopped chasing eachother for a minuet. And looked. They could not comprehend what was going to happen to them. They could never fathom it.
The mod hit like a tidal wave. The of the children were muffled by the screams of the infected. But, after a few seconds it stopped. The screaming. It was replaced by the mother's, as she watched her children's flesh torn from their bones, their carcases becoming unrecognizable skeletons with each and every bite.
Xavier fell to his knees, and bawled. The sorrow of that scene was too much for Xavier. But the voices did not agree. They spoke to him, all in unison, in a booming tone:
WATCH, XAVIER! WATCH YOU FOOL!
One of the demons grabbed Xavier skull, and forced it forward. The zombies stormed the house. It was wrecked. Gnawing sounds were emanated from the house. Blood began to flow in a steady stream from the steps.
The demons laughed a hearty laugh. The suffering of the shades and Xavier were great, and they took pride in exploiting it.
Xavier clasped his sweaty palms onto his temples. The laughing. The visions. It was all too much to bear.
"Make it stop! MAKE IT STOP!"
"Who goes there?"
Suddenly, reality came back to him. Two ashborn, clad in armor, were headed his way. |

//OOC: In my knowledge, the Eye is locked tightly in the chamber sealed by Nak'Sora herself (when she was still sane in our sense of the word, mind you), and the access to it will be granted only when three specific persons meet there. Remember the three platforms - orange, green, and yellow? So I have no idea how you will be able to accomplish the theft of such proportions.
The Eye serves no actual purpose by itself. It is only useful in conjunction with the other Eye, now in Nexhawk's possession. Once the two halves are linked and bound by a certain type of energy, you will have the device that can recount all recorded history and also, as the rumors say, reveal the future. Nobody knows to what extent, though.
Also, good one, Bojo! //End of OOC\\
A dwarf? On this barren isle?
The two Ashborn, their right hands at the hilts of the obsidian blades, cautiously approached the suffering dwarf. His sight was, to say the least, very unnerving. Suspicious of a dark entity that was tormenting Xavier, they conjured protective fiery cloaks to envelop them and hinder any assault, and afterwards hastily walked up to him. One of the Ashborn, wearing a hood, asked, "Are you alright?" |

OOC: Huzzah you've all returned! and I propose that we skip the rest of the battle for Karthage so we can hurry up with this Damn expedition! Also, has anyone seen my Giant? I could've sworn I just left him over there...
All was darkness. Sound was distant. A crackling of flames and voices, far away, far away. Taste and smell redudant. Touch yielded only pain. At this moment Alixenus realized that his limbs were held fast and that even if they were not he could not move them even if he wanted to. Then his memory returned. The battle, the sacrfice, the flames and Kaltedes' shield. The flames, everywhere, the last thing he saw and felt before darkness took him. He was not so burned, he noticed that he had completely lost his sense of touch. In places, through agony, he could feel the rough linen of bandages and the cold, seeping sensation of remedies and unguents dripping through onto his skin, where it could still be called skin. He tried to move, but his muscles had no strength left in them, Alixenus succeeded only in leaning to his right. This must have garnered some Doctor's attention as he could tell that he was being handled bodily and moved somewhere, platitudes and rehearsed comforts from a soothing, muffled and tired voice drifted through the many layers of wrapping.
Alixenus cared not for what the voice said, he just hoped that the battle was over and his pain would end. |

OOC: Okay I am officially settled in back at home. Having just pulled an all nighter I am very VERY tired. However once again I have found some new music to keep me focused and to channel new ideas. I see everyone is anxious to go on this expedition. I just need Thanatos' last dream sequence thing, then he can wake up, I'll officially heal Alixenus and the golems are being dispatched by CAPABLE Alkhemists as we speak...err type! As for Brutus. I'll try to make bigger posts as to get you out of Gran Arcadia as fast as possible. I can't just skip it now. It now plays a large role in future (mysterious? shocking?) events. So without further ado here is the status of Thanatos:
Blackness still blackness. Why do we feel like we've been here before. But there was no image to follow. No Alixenus, no Time, no Free, no little girl. The silence was cold and ached our very spine. The blackness, despite it's own bland nature, overwhelmed our senses. Whether or not these sensations were pleasant was a mystery. How could something be inviting yet so uninviting? Perhaps we'd rather have it be uninviting, for we felt an intruder enter our spatial nothingness. Such an unwelcomed guest. This devil disguising herself as a goddess? Taking advantage of our state of weakness. We felt her intentions, and we expected the words that would leave her mouth. This was OUR realm after all, right? She approached with such a victorious smile. Here to taunt us.
"The dead is dying?"
"Silence witch"
"Oh you, poor poor King? I thought you were ready, paving your pawns toward my side of the board. Teaching them the ways to kill us humble gods. Have you failed already? Can you feel it. I play no hand in your actions any longer, you've rejected yourself. Does it sting? Does it hurt your very soul? Do you wish to die, for everyone to die?"
"..."
"It's okay, I know your answer. You failed to save them, as expected. But you have proven to me time and time again that you don't always do as I expect. You know there are alternatives. Alternatives you can't ignore..."
"..."
" You could join me, join me in my Palace in the Stars. Be at my side as MY king, MY lord, My master. Your friends, your world could be saved. WE don't need to kill them. WE have a way to keep the mortals in blissful ignorance. Dustia will forever see peace. That is what you want is it not? All you'd have to do was be mine, and I shall be yours. I... love you."
"...No...no..."
Her face, full of beauty and childlike innocence was now stained red and filled with tears and dark intentions.
"STILL!?! EVEN NOW!?! WHY IS IT THAT YOU CANNOT ACCEPT ME TO THIS DAY? CAN YOU NOT MAKE YOUR MIND, I'M GIVING YOU ANOTHER CHANCE! TO SAVE YOUR FRIENDS, YOUR PEOPLE! DO YOU NOT WANT THAT?
"I do, but not this way"
"I AM A GODDESS, MORTALS AND GODS ALIKE WOULD SELL THEIR EXISTENCE TO HAVE WHY NOT YOU?....... It's still her isn't it? Still her? Still that *****! EVEN IN DEATH SHE STILL BESTS ME. A SIMPLE MORTAL? A SIMPLE MAGE?"
"...Do NOT speak of her that way... I... could never love you the way you wish me to..."
As he finished his sentencem his eyes seemed to lose their color. The rage in her expression was more refined, yet her voice did not grow louder, but it could be heard in the sharpness of her words.
"You... I thought I'd never hear those words again... Mr. Reaper... Even now you still haunt me. Surfacing from that disgusting pit of a mortal. Teehee. How does this sound Mr. Reaper. We are creating New Gods, born artificially by OUR design. I wasn't lying before? The world will not have to be wiped out again after this final purge. With the New Gods in place and Freedom gone, mortals will never advance far enough to discover their true potential. For the rest of their days they will worship in fear of All Gods. The Sea of Souls shall provide limitless resources for this goal"
Our colorless eyes lit aflame brighter than the had ever. But which one of us spoke, was it him or me? Must have been him, right?
" You dare! You DARE! Upset the balance of the Heavens, deface the name of the Spire further? Damn these souls to a destination worse than The Oblivion!?!
"I knew it, I knew. You've always cared about THE SOULS, THE BALANCE, THE DUST more than your friends. More than Time, or Freedom, or even me? Were truly not important to you? Are you really just One's lapdog?"
"Enough of this Fate, end this now. Your time was long ago. Accept your incoming end."
"I do NOT want to die..." She muttered.
Our eyes began to cool down to their normal hue, I suppose it is my time to speak.
"... What was that. Fate answer me! What was that!"
Realizing she had the upper hand her expression changed to something a child would make, one feigning innocence, and ignorance. She was being coy, speak in a coy and interrogative tone.
"You call yourself Death personified. Yet you know not what that means to you? Do you not remember it's definition? Poor king. My lovely precious darling. You have so much pain, so much regret, so much lost. I so wish I could embrace you, tell you everything would be okay."
She begins to fade away from his mind, fixed expression staring straight into his pink irises.
"Until we meet again, Lionus.... Noxas III..."
"...Begone..."
But it was too late, she had left us...
Thanatos immediately woke up, standing abruptly to look around. All he could make out was smoke and the battle of the golems. Their numbers were dwindling and they had not made it too far into Karthage, yet there was still much damage, several lives lost. He couldn't make out what emotion he felt. Instead he turned his attention to a figure, and called out to it in a low whisper.
"Nexhawk?" |

Upon hearing a familiar voice, Nexhawk closed his eyes and allowed himself a moment of relief and calmness before walking past the Alkemists towards the now-awakened Thanatos.
"Sol'Krin be praised," Nexhawk muttered before exclaiming, "Thanatos, you are alive! I was afraid the Void has sucked out your essence..." Nexhawk noticed that Thanatos' hair did not regain its color. "While you were unconscious, Alixenus... Well, he caused an explosion in the middle of Karthage to block the golems. Miraculously, he survived, but his predicament is very worrying. I left his sleeping body at Venezzians' care, but I feel that we will need your magic and that of your people to aid him." Nexhawk glanced at the two Phoenixes waiting in the distance. "I know I should not hurry you, but as soon as you are able, we must go to him!"
Letting Thanatos come up with an answer, Nexhawk turned to Ignatus. "I have a task for you. I assume that, by now, the Embershard has arrived to Karthage? If so, I must ask you to prepare everyone aboard, for we will depart from this city soon enough."
Ignatus nodded and left without a word, while Nexhawk turned his attention back to Thanatos. |

Thanatos simply nodded. Nothing more than near silent whispers could escape his mouth. He followed Nexhawk as he escorted him to one of the two phoenixes. As they finally landed Thanatos noticed a large tent surrounded by Venezzians. This was no doubt where Alixenus was. After much struggle the two were able to push their way through the large crowd into the tent. He was surrounded by containers full of iyo, and three Alkhemists treating to his burns. He decided to express the eldest one, who was likely most experienced. Even being the eldest he was still fairly young, possibly late twenties.
"How is he doing"
"Oh, it's you your highness! Well... we've managed to completely heal his body from the burns. The gentleman beside you has probably informed you how this happened."
"Yes, he has. This is what troubles me. Who is it that would allow him to do such a thing. That is extremely reckless and could have wiped out a large portion of Karthage. Even the most novice of Alkhemi-- hell even children would know better. There is no way Alixenus could set off an explosion without using Alkhemy himself. So that begs the question, who is responsible for this action?"
"That's the thing sire. Every Alkhemist in Karthage and around the near eastern coast have been accounted for. Casualties and injuries have been added to the official registry surprisingly fast. What I'm saying is, who ever did this, was not a citizen of Diyad."
"Damn..."
"We have even more troubling news. Due to the explosion Alixenus... has been afflicted with severe iyonic radiation. We've been able to suppress it for now with this."
The doctor points to a medallion around Alixenus' neck made of adamantium, in the shape of a Voe(a winged fox that stands as Diyad's national animal, more on that soon).
"For now the medallion will continue to draw away the iyo towards the front of his chest. This will prevent it from attacking his body. So he shouldn't suffer from any of the symptoms of the Old Days. However, as you know, this medallion is extremely difficult to forge, and it decays very very quickly. Once it does... you know... the iyo will attack his nervous system, leaving his body frail and useless. Then it will deconstruct his flesh, and he will die."
"...How long does he have"
"I'd say probably around 90 days sire."
"Only 90? Fine. We'll figure out a way to cure him. Where is Vektor, I must ask how the cure is coming along. He was making great strides last I checked. I must also speak about more personal matters."
"...Sire... we found this at the wreckage of the research facility"
The doctor hands him what remained of Vektor's ceremonial robes, they were covered in Dust that reeked of scorched flesh. Thanatos' eyes grew wide. For what seemed like ages he was emotionless and still. Finally he spoke.
" I see. Why is Alixenus still in bed?"
"Sire we haven't been able to fully wake him. We have no idea what the problem is."
Thanatos looked slightly annoyed as he slowly walked forward, leaning over Alixenus' body looking directly into his closed eyes. His own were glowing pink, like they often did. He whispered directly to the seemingly lifeless body.
"Get up Sir Hero. We both know well you're not dead, so let's stop being a stubborn prat aye? From the very day we met you've acted stubborn and reckless. Attacked me without proper warning. Insulted me in my own throne. Stormed away without asking for help in defeating the undead. You never stopped to think, to plan ahead of time. You simply act immediately, taking advantage of the now, only assessing the current situation without hesitation or the hint of regret. Damn, you remind me too much of myself. Always the Hero huh? Hahaha, had this been a couple centuries ago during the last era, I'd be right here beside you, having blown myself up as a martyr, to save a people who weren't even my own. But you know what? You may throw yourself into danger, but you don't truly wish to die. No you're far to stubborn to give in aren't you friend? You'll keep on fighting until there's nothing left. So come on get up, I own this bed and the soil it stands on, and I don't think you wish to be executed for disobeying the King."
Thanatos let's out a sincere chuckle and stands back upright.

OOC: And I'm back from hiatus. Played some Dead Space 3 co-op with a pal, so I'm mentally refreshed!
Sandromin had finally completed preparing the expedition when he felt a surge in his mind. It was as if something- no, someone- close to him had been fatally wounded. Someone he knew for a long time... he could not explain it. Indescribably, the feeling was best put as numbing. Clutching his head between his hands, Sandromin's mind was burning through.
Sandromin had to find out what was going on. First, he had to channel his aura into his own mind as he had learned during his training. The pain he felt was surely caused by an aural link, but the question was whose link was it? Instinctively, he channeled his aura, allowing a flood of thoughts and neural connections to enter his consciousness. Thinking of the person's attributes, Sandromin summoned the following thoughts into his head: politician, warrior, womanizer... leader... and... chauvinistic... with a slight hint of... wiliness. Obviously, it was Alixenus; the mere thought of this devastated Sandromin.
The next objective Sandromin needed to complete involved locating Alixenus. So, he had to channel his aura into the very fabric of Dustia itself and then ever so slightly ping his aura off of Alixenus' own. This would require a large chunk of aura, so Sandromin had to ready himself. Once he had gathered his aura into his hand, he immediately sent it off to the far reaches of Dustia. Although it would take several minutes to receive a response, Sandromin had to gather his aura for the next part of this process. As it was right now, he was extremely weakened from this pulse. Earth magic was definitely tiring on a large scale... |

Nexhawk cleared his throat and spoke, "If I may..."
The eyes of Thanatos and other Diyadians set upon him, waiting for him to continue.
"I was flying past the central avenue with unconscious Thanatos when the explosion happened. I noticed Alixenus together with a man in Diyadian garb. I assumed him to be an Alkemist at the time, but what I heard now makes me doubt that assumption. Nevertheless, he did manipulate the iyo to trigger the explosion, at the same time somehow shielding Alixenus from the most of the impact. I don't know how he did that, but it worked, for no mortal would have survived an explosion of such proportions while standing in its epicenter without any magical intervention. And I was too far away at the time to somehow affect the explosion myself. You know the rest." Nexhawk fell silent, waiting for the Alkemists to process the information. |

An alternate universe...
A boy sat at a desk, staring intently at the computer screen, rubbing his temples. A document was open on the screen, and lines of text filled the page.
Resting his elbows on the desk and leaning forward to put his face in his hands, the boy sighed. Then he highlighted all the text, deleted it, and resumed typing.
Still not bloody satisfied
OOC: another way of saying I'm stuck. I might just introduce a side character of my own as Conyr sails along with Alixenus' fleet. |
