And somewhere, in a land far, far away...
A new nation appears!
The Great Dwarven Nation of Lucia Bio: The Great Dwarven Nation of Lucia is a strange, new nation that has finally left the bliss of isolation. Originally, Lucia was a land full of nation-states, full of dwarven clans fighting for honor and resources. Only recently, one clan became dominate. One clan subjugated all others. The leader of this clan was Xavier Hastings. This man possessed leadership, courage, and the ability to do what was needed, right or wrong. He is an oversized dwarf, the hight of a modern human. Xavier always was an activist for freedom, so, as leader, he is trying to mold Lucia to a prosperous nation, held by Libertarian philosophy.
Base terrain: Lucia is a land filled with many ecosystems, but generally mountain land.
Strengths: Machinery [metal], the Fire from our forge, and disease/lifespan/can live a long time
Weaknesses: Water, to put out our forge, The jungle, and the Wind.
Income: Lucia uses gold coins as currency, for we have rich deposits.
Special Power: The ability to build and stockpile supplies 3 times as fast. |

May I ask the name of your society? I heard it was called the Merchant Guild?

*checks the map* If you emerge from the mountains' southern borders, head west along the edge of Sandromin's desert to reach Venezzia. We will light signal fires for your envoy. You may refer to our society as Venezzia. At present the Trade guild and the ruling council are interchangeable. Sandromin? Well, we'll head west at the first desert we find. When we get there, could I kindly ask for a copy of your map? I would like to later visit other nations and see what they have to offer. |

Okay, we shall send you several hundred pounds and in return we shall receive stone. Done. Expect a convoy in the next two weeks.
I would like to establish a permanent trade rout with you, Sandromin.
It would be beneficial to both of us, we give you an abundance of stone and in return you give us some of your difficult-to-find desert minerals.
What do you say?

We have modest quarries in the foothills of the Dwarven mountains. We could quite easily send Stone to you by ship. We have an established trade route and I'm certain our ships could handle the additional load. While I admit that the Dwarves could provide the Stone in much vaster quantities, they would have to haul it over land, through desert, trying to find you amongst the shifting dunes. All the while with a thick beard and a heavy Goatskin coat.
All the guild asks in return is a modest increase in Trade tariffs and some of your strange desert spices. My mountains! Alixenus, if you wish to mine my mountains, please do ask first. I am no saint. I have a country to run. I shall not simply let you take my stone. I shall charge a tax of 40% for every stone you sell out of my mountains.
There is room for negotiation, but if we do not come to an agreement, I shall kindly ask you to retreat from your quarries. |

We have Industrial Barbarians to the south! They have teamed up with rogue golems from the northern mountains and have begun a crusade against us!

Dang... well, we gotta fight these Golems I guess... very nasty threat indeed... Good News: We have already build tunnels under our city for undisclosed reasons.
Bad News: They are using them against us.
This is going to strike a dent in all of our nations. I have the worst of it, I believe, so I will not be able to afford troops to any country.
Alixenus wrote:Now let's be clear Dwarf, up until a few days ago we thought those mountains were uninhabited and those quarries have been there for years. Furthermore, they are merely in the foothills and are in no way infringing on your or territory or tunnelling into your cities, unless one of your settlements stretches to the Western shore.
Think about this logically, You can make for more money from selling your valuble ores than humdrum stone, my profit margins would naturally be higher due to the fact that I have established infrastructure with the other nations and I don't need to haul stone from the depths of the mountains.
As for this 3 way trade route that Sandromin proposes, it all hinges on whether I have anything the Dwarves want or vice versa... We will talk of this later, Alixenus. For now, we have Golems to slay! |

[Out of Character Explanation]What I am referring to are muskets. Now before people cry "overpowered, overpowered," they're not. The accuracy is terrible, and only single shot. Alixenus wrote:Agreed. Venezzia is secure from Golem tunnels for the most part on account of the fact that most of the city's foundations are in the sea. I have been eavesdropping on what Merchants I can get close to. Many favour appeasement and negotiation, some even suggest siding with our foes to end the hostilities. I can't say I'm suprised; they think of their coin purses first and Venezzia second.
Do not judge them unfairly. By our laws the merchants are allowed their armies to defend trade routes and to break blockades, it is the duty of the ruling council to make war on behalf of the City. But the council does nothing and our merchants have great influence over the council. If they say negotiate, the council will negotiate. As if that were not enough I have heard rumours that there are those who are planning a coup against the council!
As a Lord Lieutenant my resources are vast, but not limitless. I can investigate these rumours or 'persuade' the pro-peace merchants, but I cannot do both. Tell me, friends, what should I do?
[OOC I am not trying to compete for the roll of Game master here, just trying to flesh out my backstory] I applaud your nation to be founded on Capitalism, but, alas, it seems it has gone too far.
You need to establish a ruler, be it a benevolent dictator or a aspiring president.
Establish a coup. Overthrow the counsel and declare yourself ruler. Even though this is against the very things I value, I cannot think of any other way. I will support your coup and I'm sure Sandromin and the Reapers will support it as well. |

He seems genuinely amused by Venezzia's implosion. I am, I was, supposed to be Lord Lieutenant in the Merchant's armies, but it seems like I work on behalf of guild and city. Perhaps this is how the merchants gained their control, they slowly erased the city's army and made the city completely dependent on them and their trade. The council grew fat and lazy. More merchants were elected...
Even if the council is corrupt, they will still bow to the merchants now. Stopping Bribes will do nothing. Marching against the council will throw us into complete chaos and likely make me a target for the rest of my days. The Merchants will direct their forces unpredictably, the militias will die trying to stop my forces and fighting the council guard will be a bloodbath.
If I go down this road, I will not be able to contribute to your fight against the barbarians and I will need your help to have any hope of victory. The only other option is to take what forces i have to help you win this war under the guise of a trade guild 'investment', but it may be too late by the time it is over. I shall think on this. If you truly wish to help me, have the forces you are willing to contribute ready soon.
I never thought Venezzia would be the weak link in this alliance... This is a big decision. You have time to mull over it. But my troops, nonetheless, stand ready to assist you. |

What brings you to the edge of the earth? Well I suppose you can't perceive what is truly around you. However before any proper introductions I must ask a question. Do you come with intentions of peace or hostility? A fair warning, if you were to choose the latter, you would soon regret your decision. It very well depends. Are you the archnecromancer? Furthermore, am I able to negotiate? And beyond that, what are your intentions? Archnecromancer? Ah I see. You must be misinformed. The Archnecromancer has been dead for quite sometime now. I'm also guessing you haven't ventured this far west before. You may not realize it but you've endangered yourself and anyone who has followed you. Allow me to introduce myself. I am King Thanatos of Diyad. If you'd do me the pleasure of accompanying me to my kingdom I could better explain your situation. Also if you would excuse my earlier threat. You see people don't tread these lands anymore and when I see you approaching with an army, plus your allies parading in from the distance. It's only logical that I'd take an aggressive stance. Xavier sits on his throne, pondering the latest news.
Apparently a lost kingdom has sprung in the Badlands. Also, there is no Archnecromancer, and both Alixenus and Sandromin are there at the same time!
I cannot let them ally with, what was the name? Diyad, I believe it was? No matter, another ally to them will most definitely hinder my plans considerably. I must speak with Thanatos at once!

He leads the two into a room. The room is initially dark. The only thing that pierces the darkness is a glowing globe of Dustia hovering above a spiraling structure.
"This device has indicated the final piece lay somewhere far east. We can't distinguish exactly where. I do know however that it would be found in an area that is generally dark. My people have not left this land for quite some time. We have not been father east than here. But you two have. From my knowledge the piece would be located somewhere where perhaps there would have been several odd or supernatural occurrences. Something along the lines of phantoms or agonized souls. A place subject to rumors or folktales. Can you recall any place like that?" "The Logipriests are prone to that," Xavier says, walking into the room.
Xavier looks at Sandromin, then to Alixenus.
"Finally good to see you two... face, to face. But enough with the pleasantries. You say an area prone to magic and superstition? The Logipriests. With all their voodoo an all. Not saying that I believe, but,..."

WHAT IS THIS? *throws his helmet on the floor* My Lords I am sorry but this cipher and AN will have to wait. I did not save my city from Armok just to lose it to a bunch of Tree loving cannibals! I will be more than happy to contribute troops to the defence of your homes, but the zombie threat ends now."
Sandromin moved to console the frenzied Venezzian, but Alixenus just bats him away with a heavy gaunlet and points his hamaxe at the Dwarf when he made a similar motion.
"Do not try to stop me, this is for your benefit as much as mine. Try to stop me and I will retract the offer of aid. Zombies first, AN later."
Alixenus regarded Thanatos with nothing but contempt as he picked up his helmet and affixed it to his head. Thanatos may not have been the cause, but Alixenus was certainly going to hold him responsible. The Lord-Lieutenant then turned and stormed out the room, his half-cape billowing about his shoulders, barking orders to the remaining attendants. The echo chamber in his helmet made him sound every inch like the God of War.
"BY THE GREAT MAKER I WILL SLAUGHTER THEM ALL!" "Alixenus!" Xavier watched as he stormed away.
Is this not good? He will get himself killed. He apparently did not heed my advice when I said the zombies cannot die.
Xavier curled a smile.
He looked at Thanatos, then Sandromin.
"I know Thanatos will go along with me. But will you, Sandromin?" |

Thanatos 716 wrote:"No Xavier you should return to your people, gather your forces. Try to minimize death. You'll only need to hold out a while longer."
He fiddles with the globe and a flashing light pinpoints the source of the dark magicks in the Logipriest nation.
"It is difficult with only a direction to locate the final piece, but when you narrow it down to a specific area... Well as you can see thanks to you we now know where we're going. Sandromin will come with me. I will send my alkhemist knights to protect his people. Honestly Alixenus is a fool. He came to me looking for an enemy that was already dead. I even invited him to my kingdom. He didn't even ask for my help? How foolish indeed."
As Xavier leaves the palace, Thanatos gestures Sandromin to stand back. Thanatos draws his saber and holds it in the air. Blue alkhemical markings glow from the blade and the floor beneath them begins to shake. Before Sandromin realizes it, the entire room is moving downward. It becomes apparent that it is traveling underground. As Thanatos sheathes his saber he turns to Sandromin.
"Now that I'm sure no one can hear us... There is something alarming I need to discuss with you." He kicked me out of his palace! The nerve... No matter, I believe I know of the location. Yes, I will find it before they. Before him. Who knows what I might discover from this piece? Yes, I need to play with him more. That radiation... I need to know how it works. Maybe get some metal, even. But before that, I need that device.
Xavier goes to his ships. He speaks to one of his captains.
"You. Alarm the messengers. Tell them to go to all the settlements to the North. They must be able to burrow in to defend against the zombies. If they must, burn the settlements, and kill them with fire."
Xavier writes two letters, and hands it to the captain.
"Give these letters to the Communications Director, and Military Counsel respectively."
"Yes sir."
Xavier calls out to his ship and crew:
"Alright men. Plot a course to the menace itself, the Logipriest Capital!

"Captain! Land ho!"
"Alright then, bring it closer, then drop the anchor."
Xavier was ready. After a long week of traveling, he was finally at the Capital. He could smell the smell of victory, one step closer to his goal.
The anchor was dropped, a raft was loaded, and search parties were formed. All were told to go in the same place, the temple. The temple was quite easy to see however, since it was the tallest building there.
At the temple, all of them, which is about 40, were shocked at what they saw. A lot of 'oos' and 'ahs' were said when they gazed at the magnificent machine before them.
What in hell is this thing? I have seen nothing like it. No matter, it means they are here, which is not good, not good at all.
Xavier points at his engineers.
"You two. Figure out how this thing works."
They give a swift nod, and start to prod it and try to get inside.
Xavier, somewhat satisfied, moves in to collect his prize.
"All right, gentlemen! I will go alone into the temple. You all shall come when I say the word. Understood?"
There was a mass chorus of "Yes sirs'" and "Aye's."
Xavier enters the temple. It's entrance is dark, as if a curse put upon it. The walls are covered with vines, and are starting to crumble. He sees Thanatos and Sandromin.
"Gentlemen! Not expecting you two here! That is a most wonderful toy you have outside." |

Let's just say Sandromin and Thanatos discussed a mission plan during the week or something. [OOC]I was going to say that it may have seemed like eight minuets to you, but actually took a week, due to an illusion/time warp, due to the fact that traveling around the world in eight minuets may be a tad bit overpowered in the long run.[OOC]

The Logipriests would immediately return to normal. Now let's end this shall we. What say you Xavier?" "I say..."
Xavier draws his sword.
"That I don't trust you. That I don't trust in your wisdom. That you need to find the book to help yourself. A curse? Bah! A child's story. And if this were all real, that you could cure the land, how do I, how do we, know that you will not abuse this. Perhaps even control the zombies themselves?"
He transitions into a fighting stance.
"No. I will not play this game you are playing with us. This was too easy, too simple..."
Xavier smiles, and looks toward Sandromin.

Trying to make sense of what you're typing whilst half asleep isn't as easy as it may seem. So it was a 12 hour journey. Now back to the story.
The blue markings on the hilt of saber now glow with more intensity, cracking the ground around the alter. Nothing of great effect. More than likely to create an obstacle between himself and Xavier. Gold is slowly invading his once hazel irises. He was now uncharacteristically furious.
"Hear now the gravity of my words. I AM RUNNING OUT OF TIME! Do you have any idea what I sacrificed by coming this far! You could never understand this endless struggle. A struggle between preserving this world or your people! Between protecting yourself, or becoming subject to the cruel path that Fate has set you on. I CAN'T PREVENT THE INEVITABLE!"
He takes from his pocket the rest of the cipher, grabbing the final piece and uniting the two from his pocket he grabs a long thread that he transforms into the Dark Arcanum. Before his very eyes the words and incantations becoming clear to him. After flipping through pages he recited...
"Thorak onvay ohkai corone!"
At that moment the page of the book burned to ashes. The golems had turned to rubble and Logipriest back to humans as promised. But then something unexpected happened. Thanatos drew his saber.... and impaled himself through the chest. The last expression on his face being that of pain. Not physical, but something much much deeper. The book falls near Sandromin's feet, fully translated. Then suddenly time seemed to stop. Xavier and Sandromin were frozen in place. They only watched as an ethereal figure approached Thanatos's lifeless body. The figure appeared to be female. She embraced him almost lovingly.
"It was only inevitable."
It was only a whisper, but her words echoed loudly throughout the room. In an instance, both her and Thanatos's body disappeared, and both Xavier and Sandromin regained control of their bodies as the temple started to collapse around them. Xavier noticed him thumbing his sword.
"Come on, then!"
He charged. But something, strange, happened. Time seemed to, freeze. Become, disoriented. Why, he could not move at all. Thanato's words, a blur. The book, at Sandromin's feet. And a women, embraced the man who had just killed himself. All this had happened in a flash. Like a distant memory.
"Bloody hell..."
He had an immense headache. But that was the least of his worries. Why, the temple was collapsing on top of them!
Sandromin was still at his feet. Xavier picked up his fallen sword, and hurried over to Sandromin. He picked up the book, and said:
"Let us go. Now." |

Btw, Xavier, you're in hallucination mode, but managed to escape with the book. However, we've decided to hunt you down. [OOC]Alright. This book has strange powers, to corrupt someones mind. I'm sure it will come into play later...
Now let us continue with The Grand Masterpiece of the Ages![/OOC] Xavier, in the forest, near the bridge to his homeland, the next day...
Keep running, keep running, away from her. Away from it. The book, it is mine, mine to keep, mine to save, mine to rule...
Xavier runs. Runs in the dark void he is in. The total, desolate blackness. Away from the primordial being. The women who glows with a malice.
She appears in front of him. Xavier trips on his own two feet, and fall on the darkness below him. He lifts his chin, and sees the glowing figure before him. It was a light. A light that came from nowhere. A light with no beginning. It spoke with a soft, female tone.
Xavier. Xavier. Look at me. Look at this body before you. Look at it's splendor. My name, as you humans call it, does not matter. But what does matter, is that book right there. That book will give you power. Give me power. Crush your foes, and rejuvenate your allies. With that book, you are all-powerful. Immortal even.
She pauses.
But only if you know how to use it. I do. I can show you. I can teach you. I can make you better then before.
A hand begins to form. It reaches out to him.
Take my hand. Together we will be strong.
Xavier looks at the hand before him. He contemplates the idea of power, how enticing that it would be, to rule over all, and to guide everyone to the proper path.
But he thinks of the book. He simply could not let go of it. No matter what. Holding it. Reading it. Being in his possession and no one else's. That was important it him. The most important. He knew she would take it from him. So, he gets up by himself. He says:
"No. This is mine, and mine forever."
He gives a smirk. He then twitches a bit. A anger brews inside him. It turns into a vile rage. A rage he has never experienced.
"You think it is that easy to manipulate me?! You think I cannot do this on my own?! You think I need help from, dare I say, a god?!
He draws his saber from his sheathe.
"You dare go against me?! You dare go against the Liberator?! I will have your head! I will kill you by myself!
And he charges at her. But, alas, it is futile. The light vanishes. He is now in complete blackness.
You whelp! You have made a very powerful enemy. You will regret it.
Xavier wakes from his makeshift bed, startled. He recalls what he had seen, and heard, in that dreadful nightmare.
Was that, real? Was, she real? Was all of that, an omen?
He looks to the cloudless sky. Well, the treetop I would say, for that was the only sky he had.
I will, mull, over, this later.
He then hears footsteps in the distance. A rustle in the bushes. He draws his sword.
"Is anyone there?" |

Then it stops. Stops like it was never there. Then it comes back, back to him, back to him like it was always there.
Xavier looks at the book beside him. The urge to take it grows. To keep it with him. To read it, night after night, without a moment of rest. But there is a small voice inside him. Some say a conscience. It says to him:
Go. Leave it. It is better for you, and the rest of the world.
But he ignores it. He picks up the book, content on learning it's secrets, be it him or another man who he solely trusts.
A day's travel. I must get going. No-one can find me with this.
And so he travels. He traveled to the the bridge, and crossed it with no trouble. He went to the outskirts of his nation, where his dwarven brethren welcomed him.
Throne room, a day later...
Xavier sits on his throne, and ponders. Ponders and what to do next, and what his dream meant. If it means anything at all.
That women, who is she? A god the locals worship? No, I would have been able to recall then. She was powerful, for a bright light. But how could a light be sentient? Was it an omen? Or was it actually something, trying to control me? Trying to manipulate me...
The very thought sent a chill down his spine.
Manipulate me?! How absurd! I will find out what it is. And I will kill it.
But there were more pressing matters to attend to. Apparently Alixenus is almost complete in setting up his new government, and a new populace has sprung up!
The Collective, eh? What does that mean? What does that symbolize? Are they hostile, or friendly? And Alixenus... I need advise from him, dare I say. About the Collective. About the dream. And he needs some from me, I suppose. A little governing advise.
"Dwarf! Pen and paper, please."
"Kindly, Grand Liberator."
After he has received the paper and pen, he begins to write:
[message]Dear Alixenus, How have you been doing, my friend? Your new government going well? But, alas, there are other things to discuss. Such as the people who call themselves the "Collective," and these strange, dreams that I have been having. I hereby officially invite you to The Great Dwarven Nation of Lucia to discussing these issues. It will be good to finally see you in person. Your friend, Xavier Hastings[/message]
He speaks to the same dwarf:
"Quickly, get this to the carrier pigeon! It will be faster that way." |

Their was no heir to replace Thanatos and Parliament was powerless. For the most part however order was maintained. Before his death the king left special documentation pertaining to such a situation. Really this is only meant to preserve order as long as possible with temporary administration. Unknown to the public however, the king's most trusted subjects and citizens were given specific orders. A secret council was formed to guide the country to the best of their abilities. A message was sent to Sandromin, and another was sent to Alixenus to arrive a week later. The most surprising thing however was the choice to once more open foreign relationships. The most skilled alkhemists were called to an assembly for perhaps the most challenging tasks. But the king's will must be done. The entire raised landmass of Diyad was lowered back to sea level, making it accessible by boat. The thunderous roar could be heard as far as the Scorched Lavania. [OOC]I say we should let Sandromin take his turn, then advance one week to the meeting. Who favors this?[/OOC]
Xavier sits at his throne, pondering the latest happenings.
So, apparently he does not wish to see me. But no matter, I will see him later. A week from now.
He chuckles to himself. His servants have deemed him mad long ago, so they pretended not to notice.
The only way I know of this is his letter. That scoundrel Thanatos did not bother to give me an invitation. But I will go anyhow. I doubt Alixenus would bar me from entering.
He takes a deep, long, sigh.
So this is how the world works. A problem comes up, we fix the problem, another problem springs up, so on and so forth. Most of the time it is 'working together for the common good' folly that I get dragged into. I say, it is quite bothersome to spend time with people who believe such rubbish. But what would I want from this? How could I make this.. suit me?
Then a thought springs up. A thought so brilliant, that it could change the very face of the world.
The Collective. I hear they are... unnaturally, advanced. A meeting of all nations, who knows what to discuss besides petty affairs. Oh, Collective, you silly fools. This meeting will all but destroy you.
So, in preparation of the future week, Xavier crafted a bill which will force the Collective to "modernize" all other nations, and another one, which will be revealed in due time. |

So, as Sandromin found his way to Venezzia, it seemed everyone had been going there to join in on the summit. From merchants aiming for the extra cash, to the noblemen who wanted to see what would occur, to even the collectives, it seemed everyone was there.
And, as expected during contingency plans, Sandromin's caravan of diplomats had arrived beforehand. It seemed there were a few extras though...
At first, Sandromin thought he saw a large sack in the back of a wagon, but then realized it was the giant he had heard of at the collective's base. Then, he saw a green logipriest next to them, accompanied by a few diplomats. It seemed things were going to be interesting at the summit... Sandromin was going to look forward to it...
Meanwhile, the boats finally reached the Ivory Coast and a new people emerged from the fleet...
From the boat stepped off the Men of the South, or the Dawnfir. These men were on an expedition, and it seemed they had tier 3 technology... and to boot it off, it seemed Bojo was their leader.
Things are about to get interesting in Dustia. [OOC]I am assuming we are going to start the conference soon. I cannot wait to see what will happen. Also, Sandromin, could you please update your first post with the Tier information? I admit that I have forgotten what page it is on.[/OOC]
At last, Xavier himself stepped on those Venezzian docks. His boots make a clanking sound as he walks; two proposals are cradled in his arms.
It was a bemusing place for Xavier. He admired the greed and the merchants. How everything revolved around the market. But then he started to despise it, for he knew that was all they cared for. Nothing about the people. Noithing about their rights and liberties. Nothing. All that mattered were the merchants merchants and politicians, and that was what he despised.
Surly Alixenus will change this. I look forward to speaking with him, nonetheless.
He gazes at the Summit Building. It's marble walls shining in the sunlight with all it's splendor.
What will go on here, I do not know. What will we speak of? What will we discuss? That women, perhaps?
He flashes back to the horrid dream. Him running. The Book.
The book.
Xavier shakes his head. He could not bring the book to the conference. People will recognize it. And how disastrous it would be for him.
Now, be told, that Xavier has it hidden on his vessel. He has it hidden, and oh so very guarded. Why, all the guards are instructed to shoot on site any suspicious peoples.
That women. Whoever she is, be it a god or something else, must perish for insulting me. But I cannot do it alone. Oh no. Well, I could, but that is just too many people being fed to the slaughter. I will convince the others to aid me. An equal amount of blood with be spilled on all sides. That is good, yes. A genius am I.

It is time. The counsel commences. Oh, what a lovely day in history! The first World Counsel! Oooh, I should pen that. It is a good name.
He chuckles. He finds this whole thing, amusing.
I'll make sure to take the floor. I'm getting excited just by thinking about it!
Then something struck him. Like an arrow in his heart. A pain. A burning fire in his chest. At first he thought he really was struck. But then, he knew...
The book was not in his possession any longer. He felt it. Sensed it. The burning grew stronger. The connection, pulling apart!
Xavier motioned to his escort.
"Alright, men! A valuable possession of mine has been stolen! This is a threat to Lucia's security! I give you permission to shoot any suspicious person. Be it a Venezzian, Sand men, or bloody Alixenus himself. You five, seal off and escape points on the dock. You two, watch the water. The rest, follow me to the ship. Lets kill the thief."
The men did as the were told. The waters were secure, the dock secure, and soon the boat secure.
Xavier and five men boarded the ship.
"Search diligently and furiously. All fellow dwarves had been escorted to the dock. Any other man in the ship, with be stabbed, or shot!"
The men scurried around the ship. /they searched though every nook and cranny, no matter how small.
Except one.
Xavier went down to the musty hull. Rats scurried by his feet as he walked. He walked till he neared the hiding place. And he saw it. Saw him. A man, dressed in a loincloth, was huddling by the book, examining the contents.
"Intruder in the hull!"
And with that, in a swift motion, Xavier unsheathed his blade and slashed at the man! |

Xavier, after he recovers from the dock and follows the Giant,
"There's the brute!"
Xavier sprints toward Alixenus and the logipriests. And toward the crying, pitiful giant. His men followed him.
Xavier, dripping wet, speaks:
"Alixenus! Please do not tell me this pitiful worm is your ally. He insulted me by ramming me off my own ship, sinking it, and assisting these thieves," he looks at the logipriests, "in stealing my book!"
He points his shining blade toward the woman.
"You wicked harlot! Where is your friend, hmmm? Your friend stole my book! But I bet you already knew that. If you were in my lands, I would have your head."
Xavier lowers his sword from the shaken women, and looks to Alixenus.
"But these are your lands, comrade. Or should I say Supreme Leader?"
He chuckles to himself. The burning in his heart is still present, but albeit dimmed.
"I hope you didn't decline the job? It 'tis a simple one. My people are doing well anyway. But on to the subject at hand.
He then scowls at the giant and logipriests
"These people have stolen an important artifact to the Lucia, destroyed my ship so I cannot return home, and attempted to murder the Grand Liberator. Now, what do you say about that?" |

[OOC]I missed a lot in this long while[/OOC]
Xavier sat quietly, reading his book though the meeting. The events that have come previous do not bother him anymore. He got his book. His darling.
But, after a while, he decided to take the floor. One of his bills must be scrapped, for it has already been proposed.
He stands.
"Greetings, everyone! Sorry to be a late in the proceedings here, but all will go on all the same. Good speach, Alixenus. I solemnly enjoyed it. Well, let us start will the issue of the mines, shall we?"
He glances at Alixenus, a smirk forms on his face. He is most certainly enjoying this.
"Alixenus. Comrade! We have fought a revolution together! We have returned Venezzia to it's proper place! And now you wish to ruin and the bonding and trust by bringing up such a trivial issue? You know that my borders lie from mountain to mountain, but I will give you this, you had your mines before me. Well, before Lucia was united. So, because of this, and that you are a faithful ally, I will let you mine the mines you currently have occupied, as long as you not build any more."
"But let us get to the more, interesting one."
He turns toward Sandromin.
"Sandromin, from what I have gathered, you wish to protect a lost nation of five people. Let me repeat that, five people. Now, my friend, that is absurd. It is not worth the time, effort, or money to produce such a task. And besides..."
He looks at the crowd.
"They are lucky they have not paid for their crimes! Why, they all murdered innocent lives! Under some preposterous spell or not, they should all be hanged!"
There was dead silence in the room. A putrid smell of sweat and perspiration came from all the diplomats.
"But no, because we are a civilized people. We are not evil. We do not enslave. But we do forgive. Give them a country? No. But let them join whichever society them choose. Yes, my friends, yes."
A cheer erupted from the crowd.

Thanatos 716 wrote:OOC: This is getting interesting. I know I haven't been posting much but that's only because my character isn't exactly on Dustia. Really there was nothing I could do until after the meeting began. Also anything involving Fate isn't actually happening in the present, past nor future. Also because I completely forgot, let's assume that before this meeting Alixenus and the Diyadian delegates have already discussed the proceedings of the meeting and other issues, considering we called the Assembly.
Little did the two Logipriests know, they had passed the large airship that transported the Secret Council of Diyad. They were met by two Alkhemist Knights, not just any, but the most elite Diyadian force know as "The King's Men". There alkhemical abilities only surpassed by the late king. One should not take them as common idiotic foot soldiers, for they are also Diyad's greatest scientists. Their armor of shiny white and gold. Their gold helmets completely covering their faces. Their eyes each a glowing blue. They grab each by the arm gently. One begins to speak:
" You shouldn't be causing so much trouble during one the most important events of the 3rd Era. Luckily we were able to defuse the stir you caused in the pub. The last thing we want is a war. Especially considering Diyad plans to work in your favor. Please come with us to our airship. We will have meals and baths prepared for you both."
The attending Diyadians at the Assembly had been silent the entire time. But with good observation one could read their thoughts through their facial expression. The 7 members of the Secret Council were all in attendance. After hearing what Xavier had to say the youngest member stood up. Achyr Solaran, perhaps the late king's most trusted friend. They fought side by side in the Great Civil War. He takes the stage.
"Calm yourself Dwarf. No reason to move so quickly. I am Achyr Solaran of the Secret Council of Diyad. I'm sure you've all heard by now that he had died during the Logizombie/Golem Crisis. Since that time our alkhemists have confirmed that the reason for said tragedy was not the Logipriests doing. I don't really see how fair it is to hang the victims of evil magicks. Somewhere in this world there is an Archnecromancer. At the moment he or she isn't very powerful yet, because their location is still unknown. So first Diyad would like to make two proposals. First we offer to take full custody of the remaining Logipriests, making them Diyadian citizens. Their fate would be up to us. With us they could remain safe and secluded from the outside world. Our next proposal would be The Lich Hunt Act. Since the Crisis we have lost the Dark Arcanum, the book containing all the evil magicks of every Archnecromancer. It is highly dangerous, and can wipe out all of Dustia in the wrong hands. It is still the property of Diyad. We were hoping to make it property of the entire present council. We do have means however of finding both. We've noticed that Diyadians are ultra sensitive to magick even though we don't wield it. Any nation that supports the Lich Hunt would be allowing us to employ a network of spies with the sole purpose of locating both the Archnecromancer and the Dark Arcanum. I know this may sound off but we assure you that our intentions are not of political espionage. I only ask that take the time to consider it."
With that he takes his seat and begins to converse with his fellow council members. The Dark Arcanum. The book in my hands. My darling. They cannot take it away from me.
Xavier shakes his head. He cannot worry about that now. But what he does worry about, is Diyad.
"Oh, a secret council," Xavier mocks. "I have been attacked by a Giant, my ship has been destroyed, and now, everyone, there is a super-secret council! A joke! A joke all this is! Magick? Bah! Archnecromancer? Bah! All these proclaimed magicks are, if not fake, increased powers of the mind. And this "Dark Arcanum." If it is so powerful as you claim, how do we know you will not use it against us? I proclaim today, if these men get that book, they will use it like the thieves they are!"
A rage is now fueled within Xavier. He hated the Dyiads. Hated them will all his might.
"Their king was an manipulator! A tyrant! Tried to take the book himself. We should all be thankful, that that one woman stopped him. Stopped him from taking our lands! Starting with mine. Yes, you should have seen that magnificent contraption! It flies like the most agile bird, and shocked like the deadliest electric eel. Why, it killed 30 of my men! Go, take the Logipriests. Take them if they wish to live in your foul world. But leave the sane people of Dustia alone from this constant babble of witchcraft!" |

Xavier twitched a bit. The rage was now more present then ever. Stupidity emanated from each person in that room, like a foul stench. The book was tight between his arms.
Magic, magic?! The insolent whelps! There is no supernatural! There is only us! Just because some are more fortunate to control the vastness of the mind does not quality them for something as idiotic as magic! They are lucky I do not declare war on them all! Everyone would be better without all this foul superstition!
Alixenus wrote:The Sun has begun to set, I would like to call an end to todays sessions with a round of voting. All in favour of the Logipriests returning to their island say I. Xavier was first to vote. Well, maybe not officially, but he voted first all the same.
He stands, trying to control the volatile rage in his voice.
"All of this talk of magic, folly. I have a few 'wizards', yes, but they are simply special. Different is all. Hardly enough to consider supernatural. And with the spies, I tell you this, secret counsel. If you dare set foot a spy in Lucia, I will rip off his genitals and impale him on a spike in the town square. Any spies, from any nation, found in Lucia, will be considered an Act of War, and I tell you this, you will not survive from my wrath. I say Nay, and you will not receive any support from me in repopulating the Logipriest nation, or finding your 'Lich.'"
Xavier sat back down in his chair. He was tired of sitting. He wished to stand. But he could not. There were other people who wished to speak. Other people indeed.
He whispered into the ear of one of his advisors.
"After this is over, could you kindly get the ambassador from the Collective's attention? I am starting to like him. With all his analytical friends and whatnot. I would like to speak with him."

So he waited, as calmly as he could. Xavier looked over at Alixenus.
Strange. He is acting strange. So fiery and commanding one minuet, and the next, as frighted as a sheep. He is going to do something. Something he will not tell me.
But the foul rage had subsided. He was now his calm, peaceful, tranquil self. But he was still curious. Curious indeed to what Alixenus was planning.
After these talks, I will go into the anti-chamber. Surly he will not deny me? And I will sit and talk with him, congratulate him, thereby preventing and/or leaning about his plans. He has one. But I understand if some are tired. I mean, read the first few pages, the read the last couple. All I can this has evolved immensely. Our writing skills have as well.
Filler is good to me. It will take a while for the sun to supernova, anyhow. Besides, Fate seems like the character who likes to watch others squirm.
A war could be good. I could have Xavier launch an attack on Thanatos after he reveals himself. He hates him, after all.
A time lapse could be a bit strange, simply because I doubt that nothing major would happen in Dustia in a century. It's just too... turbulent.
But, I will go with filler. It will work out more in the long run.[/OOC]

Then a thought popped into Alixenus' head. "Xavier, what have you been saying to the ambassador at such a late hour?" "Why, we have been discussing many things. Many things that are not of any importance of whatsoever. Except one."
As he said that, he slyly stepped into the room, with the Ambassador behind him.
The room was phenomenal. Many large sofas, made from what seemed to be the most fine of silk, were littered everywhere. The pillows on them, plush. The curtains, a pure crimson, symbolizing the blood of Venezzian enemies. White pearls were perfectly aligned together on, well, everything. From the aforementioned sofas and curtains, to the tables, and even chairs! There were shields and swords on the walls, all pure and glistening gold. It 'twas a very, very, lavish place.
"An alliance! How beneficial would that be, eh? To have the same technology as they! Everyone, as intelligent as the greatest scientists! Everyone, and strong as an athlete! With everyone like the Ambassador here, this world will be a much, much more prosperous place!"
He chuckled a bit. The magic book was in his arms.
"Surly you do not want to talk about this? Fantasize how life would be like? A perfect world? No? Well, even if you do not, we have other things to talk about."
It's working. He can not kick me out now. It would be most rude of him, hehe.
"Like your administration! Tell me, how is it being the Supreme Leader, eh?"

Galrick M'kron wrote:The Collective ambassador politely interrupted. "We have no experience augmenting organic life, and as it is, technology does not bring a perfect world." it said, reluctant to go through with what Xavier was saying. Xavier frowned. Not that, parental frown. The frown that you notice when you have done something wrong. But a puzzled, perplexed frown. He was quite surprised, to be honest. Surprised that the Collective did not have that technology, but even more-so, that no-one wanted to talk to him. No-one wished to share his hope in the world. No-one wished to speak philosophy. No-one. He was, alone. No matter how he tried to break away, even if this was just a plan to get information, he was, alone.
Sandromin Hes wrote:"Ahh yes, the Diyadians. So, what is the topic to discuss right now? It seems events are going to be taking a drastic change by tomorrow, so it's a fairly important time to be discussing things," Sandromin stated with a certain fervor in his voice.
Sandromin continued, "As it is right now, I have received some interesting news, and it seems Lionus, who now goes by Thanatos, will be arriving tomorrow. Furthermore, there are quite a few matters to discuss. It seems Fate will be stoking the flames even more... her grand plan will unfold before our very eyes." Rage flashed on Xavier's face. It was not fueled by the lie; that Alixenus refused to tell him that he was alive. Refused to say that there was a meeting. Disappointing at best, but no. It was the mere mentioning of Thanatos. The name boiled his blood. He hated him. But he did not understand why. Maybe because he was looked up to? He was important. More important then he. Or maybe, the Diyadians loved their King? More then then Xavier's people their Liberator. They loved him. They believed in the man. The evil, wrenched king, the one who fights the impossible; the one who cheats death. And that gnaws at Xavier. Both the reasons do.
Alixenus gave a panicked, fearful look. A look that you only see when you kick as dog, or watch it be kicked. That pitiful look; it tells you that it has lost.
He brushed Sandromin away. Told him to go to the hall. Along with the man accompanying him.
He wore a long robe, colored in the most pure teal one could imagine. White stripes adored the front and back of the robe in a vertical direction. You could not tell what it was made of, but Xavier guessed it was silk.
It was the 'secret ambassador.'
Alixenus tried to continue the conversation, even though it was going quite poorly, trying to state that he was not the doge, but something entirely different. But, the words went though Xavier. He did not listen, for he no longer cared. He saddened even more. He was lied to. That normally did not bother him, but this was different. He was lied to by a man at his same level. At his same status. A man he began to trust. Both of them. Sandromin and Alixenus. They tried to hide this from him. They failed. The respect was gone. And they could never get it back.
Xavier finally began to speak:
"You lied to me, do you know that? You disrespected me. You refused to tell me that something is going on. Something that affects my nation. Do you know how that feels? To feel betrayed? Betrayed by an equal? Betrayed by a man has, had, honor? That happened to me once in my life, when I was fighting for my clan. A friend... pulled a knife to me when I slept. Heh. I always complained the the floors creaked. If it was not for that, I would not be here right now. Needless to say I killed him. Killed him in a struggle. But you have to do what you need to do to survive. I forgive him. But I do not respect him."
Xavier walks to the door in disgust.
"I do not respect you anymore, Alixenus. Any honor you had, gone. But do not think I am gone, gone forever. I will be back. I will see you tomorrow. I will see Sandromin too. And I will see that pitiful worm, the one who calls himself Thanatos. I deserve that."
And with that, he walks out the that twisted, twisted room, where many disappointments have arisen, and may possibly stay. |

Thanatos 716 wrote:Alixenus wrote:Alixenus just watched Xavier has he strode away, stunned that things had gone so utterly awry. After the dwarf had slammed the door behind him, Alixenus wasted no time in seeking out Sandromin and the Diyadian. Arriving at Sandromin's caravan on horseback he immediately vented his frustration at the representative from Diyad.
"I am tired, I have been drinking and I have had to sit in a room with politicians all day. Then, just to make things worse, your precious meeting may well have cost Venezzia it's friendship with the Dwarves. Whatever you have to say had better be worth it. Well? Out with it!" At first the ambassador stares at Alixenus in the most nonchalant manner. Then after scratching his reddish brown beard, the ambassador, Achyr Solaran speaks: "Calm yourself. We will try our best to settle things with the dwarf. I understand that the Lich Hunt was only approved today, but you could consider this a strong start. There's no doubt about it. When I took the stage my blood ran cold and my beard felt like it was vibrating. Let me just go ahead and say this. One of the nations is in possession of some powerful, vile magicks. I have no idea who or what it is, but everyone is suspect. But we needn't discuss this with the other nations. We must avoid hostility at all cost. What say you?"
Meanwhile as he storms outside, Xavier is met by another member of the secret council. He is old and balding, his silver hair only cover the sides and back of his head. The man begins to walk along side him. "My sincerest apologies friend. Please forgive Alixenus. He was only acting under threat of war. You see many Diyadians are outraged after many soldiers who were sent to protect the Sandmen and Venezzians, suddenly disappeared without any remains. Or at least that is what he is meant to believe. We had to keep Sandromin and Alixenus so that I may meet with you. You see the Secret Council of Diyad shares your vision of improving ourselves, or at least our nations, through technology. We wanted to discuss this with you before the second day of the Assembly. I am here to present you with a deal. Are you interested? Xavier smiled. It was quite funny that he, a dwarf, was taller than a man! Ha! How special that Xavier is, to tower over a human, when the usual dwarf would have to look up!
Manipulation. That is the only word. Manipulation. He is not to be trusted. He heard what I said. He heard my dreams of technology. He is trying to befriend me. Trying to stab me in the back! But, I must go. This meeting I will attend. I will see the wretched scum that lied to me, betrayed me. Deceived me.
But a realization came to Xavier. No, not a realization, but a thought in the back of his head. A thought that said:
Why are you this paranoid? You are not like this. Even since you got that book you've changed, Xavier, you've changed.
But it disappeared in an instant. Surely his sweet darling could not do this? It was unconceivable to Xavier. But now, Xavier looks at the book, and asks if this was possible, that the book has made him mad, or, that this is him all along. That this is the way he always acted, but never noticed. At this rate, he will never know.
He finally speaks to the balded man, playing the game he has set up for him.
"A deal, comrade? What could you possible present, that the Collective could not have, hmm? Something that benefits both of us? An aeroship that goes beyond the stars? Why would you give me that? Or that one contraption that killed all of my men? Better kill a thousand more!"
He stops, and looks at the man, looks dead into his cold, beady eyes. The eyes that hunger for power. The eyes that call for the callous disregard for human life. This is what Xavier saw. A monster. A pure monster.
"Let me ask you a question, yes? Do you think that I trust you? Believe you? That I think that you won't stab me in the back as I turn around? I admire the techniques you used; flattery is the main one. Making me feel important. Quite clever. I see you learned it from your... undead king. But please, tell me what you have to offer. I will play this little game." |

Thanatos 716 wrote:When Xavier mentioned the king, the ambassador was genuinely puzzled. It was obvious that he nor his fellow delegates heard such a thing. "Paranoid much my Dwarven friend? As for this 'undead king' you speak of, I truly have no idea. All sounds preposterous to me. Where did you here such a tale? Even if the late King Thanatos was alive, you wouldn't see me jumping for joy. I'm just waiting until we run out of orders. You see before he died he spent nights writing instructions to be carried out if he somehow didn't live to do it himself. Once that's over the Secret Council won't be so secret. I'm speaking full control over Diyad. This makes abandoning Parliament more beneficial than I'd first imagined. But enough about me. The point is that the rest of the delegates would like your assistance. We are aware of the plethora of materials in the mountains of Lucia. You see all materials in Diyad are significantly stronger due to our native energy. Weapons and armor are more precise, durable and lightweight. Sadly we can't share this because of the deadly radiation from said energy. If you were to provide us with materials we could figure out how to overcome this obstacle. Allowing others to handle iyo and for us to trade these now stronger materials safely. Of course Lucia would receive more for less if they were to cooperate. We would also be willing to share our more... experimental devices. You see I'm not trying to make an enemy, nor manipulate you. I'm trying to help you as well as myself. This is the first time Diyad has ever been represented outside of our own nation. We need allies, people we know we can trust. And I personally believe that you are one of the only ones with their right mind around here. Even my colleagues are foolish. Taking orders from a dead man? Hah! "
OOC: I'm seriously laughing at my own post. The irony towards the end kills me every time I read it! Xavier thought for a moment. Did they truly know not of the King? Were they still part of his ruse?
His book thumped at his side. Almost as if it was calling out to him. It made him angry. Angry at the world. At Thanatos. At the bastards that lied.
But then it stopped. It stopped, for he told himself that it was the book. The book was influencing his emotions. The scene in the anti-chamber? He would had most likely kept his composure. But no. The book was making him, bi-polar. Or something of the like. And he realized this. The book could fool him no longer. So it stopped. Because it knew he would leave it if it kept on. And no. It could not have that.
The book... the book will consume me. Lie to me. This book... is dangerous. Completely dangerous. But I will keep hold of it. To find out what it holds, and how to tame it.
Xavier smiled a hearty smile.
"Well, then! I am quite surprised, comrade! I am starting to like you! I do apologize, I should not have said all that to you. Things have been very stressful lately, with all these talks and politics. I hope you understand."
Xavier continuous to walk besides the aging man. They are moving ever so close to the auditorium.
"But enough with that. I am interested to what you have to say. Would you like to talk at the pub? I heard they make some fine Port."

When they arrived at the stone pub, it was quite busy. People were flowing in and out like schools of fish, and all were dressed in multicolored clothes from every spectrum of color. From blue, to purple, to even black.
There was not even a glance at the two, even with Halvedes being in his silk robes and Xavier in his armor. Must were young folk, however, so they both assumed they did not care.
The pub was a gray stone color, taking it from the material it was made out of. There were strange animal heads on the walls. Bottles of Port and Whiskey lined the back shelf.
Xavier searched for two seats, for him and his guest, may it be. After he found some, he motioned Halvedes to sit. The seats were surprisingly quite soft for they being made of stone. He ordered two glasses of Port.
"Lovely place, isn't it? To tell you the truth I have not been to a place like this. The people bother me to much. I'm hard to miss, seeing that I am much taller then the average dwarf. But please, enough about me, please tell me a bit about yourself." |

The old man giggles for a moment. It seems as if he's only taken a few sips from his glass. "Me? I suppose I do know more about you than you of myself. I was born in Diyad of course. On the floating city of Opekta. My father and mother were both bankers. The Syncores family was known across the land for it's fabulous wealth. When my parents died they left me with enough money to start my own financial pursuit. But I am very much unlike them. I don't seek wealth or luxury, I was born with it in my blood. What I sought was power. So I funded my own campaign and was elected into Parliament. You might not believe it, but in my younger days I was quite the charmer, and my intelligence was noteworthy. I served Diyad for 37 years. But then it seemed that the blasted Thanatos showed up from nowhere. He was quite a speaker, others often compared him to the last king Lionus III. Lionus was the last king who died at a young age centuries ago. He is considered the greatest king in our history. If people compared Thanatos to him, well there was no doubt he'd rally himself a rebellion. I tried to warn my fellow members of Parliament against war. They were fools, dead set in their ways. I resigned my position 6 months before The Great Civil War broke out. I aided Thanatos in the war. I hated him so much... But my reward was worth it. I earned my spot within the palace and now I rule Diyad. Oh how Fate jests, always on my side!" A bell rings in the distance, morning is fast approaching and the final day of the Assembly is soon to begin. "It would seem that I've rambled for over an hour. My apologies noble Dwarf. But we should leave to prepare for today's proceedings." "But of course, dear friend. We can talk on the way there."
They both walked outside on the cobblestone street. People were walking back and forth, and it was quite crowded.
"Interesting story. I take it you are now king of Diyad? Thanatos' successor? I regret to inform you, but I heard things about the king. He is most certainly dead. I watched him die right in front of me. But Sandromin, he said something. He said the King is arriving, well, today. Are you sure you know nothing of this? It would be awful for both of us if he did. I dare say that I hate him more-so than you." |

Thanatos 716 wrote:"Here today? HA! From where? With what transportation? It's possible that your Sandman friend may just be suffering from minor iyonic poisoning. Nothing too serious. People who used to get it only had it briefly. It takes a while for the symptoms to actually occur. To answer your other question, no. I'm not sovereign, but I plan to be. Once the Secret Council completes their instructions, we have free reign over Diyad. We could finally reveal ourselves to our nation. Achyr may be the most liked out of us, but I am both eldest and wisest. He looks up to me. If I've sown the seed as precisely as I'd imagined, then without a doubt he will make me the successor to the throne. Now a question for you my friend. What reason do you have to despise the late king? Seeing as you only knew him briefly before his demise. Xavier pondered for a moment. Why did he begin to hate him? Why does he begin to seethe rage when he hears the name? Why? The question was why. He never thought of it. For, he could never bear the answer. The answer was the book. The book influence his thoughts. He feelings. His actions. The book wanted control. The book was his master. Eventually, the book would drive him to the edge of insanity. Xavier knew this. He has realized this before. But he could not bear it. He loved the book. His sweet darling. He could not stand losing it. The magic it contains, the infinite knowledge.
He craved it.
He longed it.
And he will have it.
The more he reads, the more he loses his mind.
He knows this. He realizes this.
He accepts this.
"Well, my dear friend, it was a mystery to me as well. 'Why do I hate this man?' I ask myself. Why do I despise him? The answer is: I know evil when I see it. He would have abused the darling in my hands right now, and I could not let him do that, not at all, not at all."
They were now at the grandiose halls of the Assembly.
"But enough about that. Let us look forward to a friendship between nations, comrade, and the benefits that that will bring." |

After the two powerful men had finished their discussion, both have sit in their respected places amongst the assembly.
Soon, the young man Conyr speaks. He tells a heart wrenching tale about how his family has died and how he should be left alone by all countries. This did not sit well with Xavier.
Diplomatic Immunity? Humbug! If he dares set foot in my lands, he will abide by my laws.
"I object to this man's proposition!"
There were gasps in the audience. 'How could Xavier do this? Was he that cruel?' was murmured though the auditorium.
"I do not know about the other countries, but if you set foot in my lands, you will abide by my laws. Is that clear? There will be no Diplomatic Immunity for Conyr in Lucia!"

Reanimation. Reanimation. An interesting subject, is it not? To animate, or make alive, previously nonliving things. Such as statues or brooms. This was what Xavier was reading. He... absorbed the knowledge. The incantations. The spells. The name's of warlocks who were prominent in this field of magic. All of this most most certainly fascinating to Xavier. But as he read, he seemed to feel something. A gnawing in his brain. A gnawing that numbed all the six senses he possessed: touch, taste, sight, smell, and hearing. The book was taking it away. It was taking away his sanity. If he kept this up, he would not go to the next assembly. He would be writhing in his twisted mind, forever succumbed to the book.
And then he felt something. Heard something. The Collective mumbled something of not modernizing nations, the Dyads mumbled about trade routs, but the mumbling stopped. A voice was heard. It said that he was a Pyromancer, a refugee from his homeland that was destroyed by the hydromancers.
A civil war! What could I gain from this, hm? Power? Alliances? Research? Data? Science? I need the Collective's technology though. Though those wondrous breakthroughs, the research provided by the hydro and the pyromancers will be invaluable. Also, tomes. Magicks. A great benefit to my study!
Thanatos 716 wrote:The council discusses among themselves and call a group of Diyadian soldiers and other representatives. The men and women quickly scuttle out of the Gallery and make way for a flying ship. The council announces that they have sent their second fastest ship to arrive at Lavania in two and a half days to make cotact with this new nation. The third member of the council, a tall man with a long grey beard and glasses stands up. He introduces himself as Vektor Gaius, lead Alkhemist of Diyad
" Oh, a nation using primarily magick! This reminds me of another important proposal from Diyad. Education remains Diyad's highest priority. Although we have already agreed to share our knowledge, we would like to open universities in other nations. We propose to establish a University of Alkhemistry. On another note, as a joint project, we wish to collaborate with other nations to gather all arcane knowledge to establish a University of Magick. With the threat of an Archnecromancer we find it important that all nations learn about magick, and hopefully learn to utilize it. Of course we are aware of the Collective's weakness to magick so this does not apply to them, for magick can only be counteracted by magick. Xavier stands.
"I will be happy to capitalize on your offer, Vektor! Knowledge is a valuable thing! You cannot have enough of it! Now of course, more detailed discussions will be arranged via closed doors, but I will be happy to invite Alkhemists to Lucia."
He continues.
"Concerning the Archnecromancer, I do hope you give up on your search. He does not exist, and if he is as powerful as you say he is, I think it is best if we leave him be."

Spells, spells, spells. Good, are they not? Reanimation, no that was spoken already. Fire? No, that wasn't. Yes, fire. The power to send the essence of life towards your enemies with utmost destruction! It made Xavier feel all joyful inside. The burnt corpses of his enemies, the traitors, the terrorists. It provides a new meaning to the term "public execution". Ah, the book. The sweet, sweet, book. The one that provides joy and misery to all! The one that can destroy someone's mind from within!
Xavier, in all of his fine attire, was patiently reading the book in his seat. There were no more propositions being voted on anymore, the day was done.
Two days. Two bloody days. How much more longer? One? Two? All I really need is sleep. Then it will be better. All better...
And then he saw someone. Someone most familiar. A man dressed in a worn and torn and most brown cloak. He walked with a posture that had an air of excellence. Importance. But how how could that be? He was cloaked! Hidden! Invisible to the eye! Xavier felt the air. The book felt the air. He was an outsider. A man who has seen many obstacles and has overcome them.
In a possibly rash decision, Xavier swiftly slid out his chair, and snaked through the crowd. The giant was next to the outsider, talking to him.
Xavier waved to the man. At a closer glance the man carried weapons of different cultures and styles that Xavier never thought was possible, from a jig-jagged sword to a hooked mace. The book thumped at his side.
"Oi! Traveler! As you do know this is a closed assembly. May I ask what you are doing here?" |

And there he was. The most twisted man in the assembly. In Dustia, even. The cold-hearted tyrant that wished to take Xavier's darling away from him. The one who abuses his people, and laughs at their misfortunes. The one that has cheated death and rose again.
Xavier was shocked. The book was shocked. The book, it did not know what to do. What to say. What to feel. This was Thanatos. Death. The tyrant. The murderer. There was only one feeling the great book could justly feel.
Anger.
Rage.
Hate.
Fear.
What could this man do to Xavier? To The Book? The thought was terrifying. Most terrifying.
So Xavier could only do the one thing he could. And so he rose up, and said:
"Impostor. Impostor!"
Xavier screamed even louder.
"Impostor! This man is a fraud! The late King of Dyad is dead! Killed! Murdered! I saw it with my own eyes. And to top that, the whole temple fell on top of him!"
And as he gazed at the King, a strange phenomena happened.
Xavier fainted.
And in the those last moments before the world went dark, he saw Fate stand before him, holding his great, beloved Book. |

He sees Fate, hovering over Xavier attempting to weaken him, to do some type of harm to him. To others he seems to be staring at Xavier, but within the realms of spirits he communicates with the god.
"Begone harlot! Remove thyself from my presence. You have no power here. He is strong, like I he will overcome you!"
She gives Thanatos a demonic stare
YOU ARE BECOMING MORE THAN A THORN IN MY SIDE. DARE YOU EXPEL ME? ME WHO MADE YOU, WHO BROUGHT YOU WHERE YOU ARE? HEAR MY WORDS LIONUS. NO MATTER WHAT YOU DO, DUSTIA WILL FALL. I'LL MAKE SURE YOUR THIRD DEATH WILL LAST AN ETERNITY. THIS MORTAL WILL BE MY GREATEST PAWN AND YOU WILL NOT STOP ME.
Thanatos responds coldly.
" I said begone! Leave the presence of Death, before he plagues you prematurely."
Xavier starts to regain consciousness, but his sight remains in the realm of spirits. For once since finding the book his mind is clear. His vision is fuzzy, in front of him he can make out a shadow of a man, the only thing visible are glowing pink eyes. The shadow leaves him with a message.
" You must learn to overcome. Else I end your existence."
The spirit realm shatters before him and his sight lay once more in the real world. Thanatos's eyes cease glowing and he walks away from Xavier. He turns to Alixenus.
"There is much I must explain, this Assembly is over."
He turns to the crowd and announces.
"Alixenus and the leader of the Sandmen will now be taken to the High Court of Diyad! You are hereby charged with suspicion of imprisoning Diyadian soldiers! We shall set off to Diyad at once! We will arrive by midnight and your trial will begin! Also Sir Giant, if you would accompany me also, our task has not yet been completed." Thanatos, with all his fury and bravado, challenged the mistress that stood before Xavier.
And it was strange, for it 'twas as if he was from another realm. Thanatos and the mistress arguing back and forth, as if lovers. It was quite a sight to behold.
And then she was gone, and the book in his hands. His vision cleared up, and he saw a face that he learned to hate. To despise. And that face said to him:
Thanatos wrote:You must learn to overcome. Else I end your existence.
Xavier smiled a mischievous smile. He has just found an unlikely ally.
"Folly. Such folly."
And Thanatos walked away. He said something to Alixenus. Something sly. Something sinister. As if this was the plan all along. Then that man said something about how he was going to "arrest" Alixenus and Sandromin, in his own palace, mind, and take them to Diyad for a "trial". If this lie was to be believed, Dustia most justly deserves to perish.
And so a test was formed. A test to see who was a conspirator.
Xavier stood up.
"Ha! You sir are the greatest joke I have ever seen in my career as a Politician! Do you really think you have the power and authority to take the two heads of respectable nations prisoner?! Especially one that is in his own palace?! If you were Lucia, your head would be on a pike by now! Alixenus and Sandromin, if you submit to this man, I will be forced to believe that you are conspiring against Lucia, which therefore means that sanctions and a Declaration of War will be placed on your nations."
Ah, Thanatos. Not as sly as you think you are, eh? |

[OOC]Thanatos, I must give you props with the Fate moment. I was honestly not expecting that.[/OOC] Xavier was bemused. This was almost a game of chess. Thanatos moves, then Xavier. Xavier looks at the book in his hand. It is smiling at him.
"You see, Thanatos, I do not know if you cannot remember, but do you recall the temple? The temple with this book? The temple where you were killed by the Mistress? DO you remember how you got there? By Land? By Sea? How about air? Yes, these men traveled in the air! It was a marvelous contraption, it truly was. But do you know where it did to my men? Xavier stomped his foot on the ground. That bastard Thanatos. The murderer. The tyrant. The man who has technically enacted war on his nation. The rage, you could taste it. It seethed out his ears and on to the ground.
"You purposely did that. You knew that this would happen! That my men would be curious. That my men would touch it! "Brutus doesn't care what happens to Brutus, but if dwarf makes allegation one more time, Brutus will smash dwarf against the earth. Dwarf blood will water the ground, and meat will feed the beast. Brutus will destroy you. You are a bug to Brutus and. Bugs. get. Squashed." Each word, each syllabal became louder and angrier until the giants voice was a typhoon of rage and power. This wasn't the giant the dwarf had seen sobbing, this was a force of the earth standing in front of him. Thanatos was death but Brutus was the avatar of rage, and every ounce of anger was directed at this welp of life. This little thing of ambition, this pawn of a book! Brutus hated the dwarf.

Xavier tapped his head.
"I have memorized a lot of things. Things that will make a normal man run for his life. Strike me, so I can purge your existence from this earth!"

"I WILL HAVE ORDER IN THIS HALL!" Cried Alixenus belatedly. He drew his shortsword and smacked the Pommel upon the table with such force that the table Split. It took much for him to lost his temper in this, but to have the Collective's ambassador attempt to usurp his authority was the final straw. Not since the Logizombie attack had he been so emotionally volatile.
"This conference was organised in the name of peace and understanding, not so that you poor excuses for Statesmen could settle your personal grudges like some petty street group working through a two-scene tradgedy! Now I don't care who fried whose soldiers, or who stole what book, or threw gloves where! This ends now! Xavier, if you're men are truly dead, then produce credible evidence and swear before both men and Gods that it is real. If, we accept your evidence Thanatos will pay due compensation, say 10 Talents of Gold." Alixenus now turned to Brutus, sword still in hand, his countenance almost like that of a disappointed father. Meanwhile the court artist had practically thrown his previous work on the floor and starting sketching this new dramatic spectacle.
"Brutus, I swore help for your homeland and you shall have it. I can understand your boredom of my city, there aren't exactly any Giant sized attractions available. Now that this conference has come to an abrupt end we will depart soon." No one else dared to speak, or make any other noise. They all seemed frozen, entranced by the sheer Gravitas of Alixenus' rage. It was as if the Winged Lion itself, the Sigil of the city, was embodied in this man. Now he rounded on Thanatos and the sisters Fury and Strife were beside him as he addressed the dead man before him. "As my people fought and died to defend their city I never once saw a single Diyadian come to our aid. Search our Dungeons, check our prisoner roles. None of your men are here." Now he pointed his sword at Thanatos, the steel shimered in the early evening sun. "If your people are truly the prodigal spawn of Venezzia, then you will abandon this demand for my arrest. Under our laws colonial authorities do not supercede the City's. But if the Gods have so deluded you that you no abandon this path, then come and get me." More city and council guards were arriving, weapons at ready. Like the Hawk that hovers in the skies, waiting to strike, so too were they watching the diplomats.
All was silent save for the rustling of the Cypress trees in the wind. Xavier made the smallest movement behind Alixenus, perhaps he was straightening his robes. Whatever he did, it caused Alixenus' furious mind to realise something. Xavier has the Necronomicon. Alixenus now drew a dagger with his left and, keeping his sword towards Thanatos, spun and pressed keen edge against Xavier's throat. "You hold in your hands that cursed book, the book which has caused so much suffering already and will send many a nobleman to the underworld if it falls into the hands of the AN. You, sir, shall hand that book to Thanatos so that he may destroy it for the good of all."
OOC: Not sure why, but halfway through writing that I decided to give that post a Homeric spin. Not sure it worked. Thoughts everyone? Sorry for the long post, but it's been a while. The cold steel was protruding into Xavier's neck. How did it come to this? Friends, if you could call them friends, threatening to murder eachother? Threatening to kill eachother? What has the world become? That vial book, the twisted book, it would all end if it was destroyed....
No. Xavier's confidence will not be touched. The book was he and he the book. To let go of it now is to let go of humanity.
Xavier began to speak, not moving, for if he did, he would surly die from the strange ailment of decapitation.
"So, you know then? The book... my darling. You think it kills, but no, it saves. It saved me, Alixenus. Can you not see? See the light? The knowledge? No, you never will. You are too weak. Too inferior. At least I have something to fight for. What do you fight for, Alixenus?"
And having said that, Xavier's eyes dimmed, as if they have lost the life that was flowing in them. His body became relaxed, for his mind has finally broken.
Yes, broken! His mind has shattered. His mind has given in to the book.
Xavier tilts his head, and grabs the dagger.
His hand bleeds most furiously. The blood drips to the marble floors, painting them a new color, red. As he grabs it, he looks in Alixenus' eyes. He sees something there. Ambition. Anger. Rage. Hate. All of these were present in this man's eyes. Buy why? Why hate the book? The book gives peace, knowledge, and above all else, security. He finally whispers:
"If you want my darling, please, try to take it. It is the least you can do."
He rips the dagger out of his hands, turns around, and proceeds to walk to the exit, ignoring the numerous guards in the way.

Thanatos 716 wrote:"Do not speak of things you do not yet comprehend Sandromin. I gave him a choice. His mind and spirit are already gone. You cannot see what mine eyes now can. I believe he can overcome that book. It is mine. But if he allows himself to embrace these evils, I'll have to destroy that book here and now. I can't delegate with him, it's his choice now, you can't see the demons that dance around his spirit, delivering him to his doom. Diyad won't declare war. We never wanted to, and never will. And don't worry, I'm not surprised, Free knows the events that shall transpire. It would seem you don't truly know him either. But enough of senseless arguments, we must wait for Xavier's own response." Xavier stood. Stood. And stood. He looked blankly at the three men. Then, after a long while, he looked at his hand. The blood casually dripped to the floor, and because of this, a pool of blood is forming.
He lifts his hand and takes a cautious lick of the blood. It tasted sweet and rejuvenated. It was not a stretch to say it was the greatest taste Xavier has ever experienced.
At last he speaks.
"Have you even tasted blood before? Heh. Neither have I. Well, until now, I suppose. I do suggest you try it. It tastes, like the most luscious berry. You know, I haven't really looked at any of you before. Your faces. Your chiseled features. I never really bothered to. But, who cares about that, eh?"
The words spoken by Thanatos, Sandromin, and Alixenus were not heard. He was gone now. He heard none of what he wished to hear and none of what he didn't.
Xavier looked around the hall. There were no more walls. He was in a meadow. A meadow filled with signing birds and flowers that turned to smile. It was quite a lovely sight. And his friends were there! Thanatos, the solemn stranger! Alixenus, the moody playmate. And Sandromin, the shy boy who rarely talked.
But Xavier could not stay. His mother was calling him. He could play no more.
"I'm sorry my friends, but my parents are calling me. It is such a lovely day, I know. I hope to talk to all soon!"
And with that, he vanished. Vanished from the meadow. Vanished from the Assembly. He was, gone. |

[OOC]Let me join the fray here. [/OOC]
And so it was! Xavier vanished one moment, and appeared the next. Where did he go, do you ask? Xavier went where no man has gone before, and "man" is clearly emphasized, for Thanatos was clearly not one. Thanatos was an exception. Thanatos, some consider, a God. His aura wreaked of Death and Misery. There was no questioning it. He was Death itself. Anyone of importance could notice that. Anyone with even a minor sense of magic could comprehend this.
Xavier appeared on what seemed to be a different plain of existence. There was no sky to be spoken of. There was only darkness. Pitch black, cold, frightening darkness. Below was the same, except you could barely see a thin, wispy layer of transparent "ground", you could say, which was tinted purple.
For some reason Xavier could think. Well, he could think before, but only about the most irrelevant of things, including flowers.
In front of Xavier there was a womanlike form. She, too, was transparent like the "ground", but her shade of purple was brighter and more visible. She seemed, from what Xavier witnessed, to turn to him.
Hello, Xavier. We meet again. I know we have had a rocky relationship, but that is a huge misunderstanding. Please, allow me to explain.
Her voice was very soothing and calm. Very unlike a woman. Most women Xavier knew had the voices of sharp knives, painful and deadly, so he never married and keeps himself as far away from them as possible. Her voice seemed to come from inside his head and out, as if she was communicating telepathically to him.
Then a chair appeared before her. It was a sturdy, wooden chair, nothing special, nothing fancy. In fact, it was as dull as it could possible be. Nothing could be as dull or generic as that chair.
Seeing that there is no other way out, Xavier reluctantly decided to listen to the Mistress speak.
Good. I am glad you are reasonable. No-one else is around here.
She seemed depressed. Lonely, even.
Did you know being Fate is a difficult job? Managing ever single life-form in the universe, yes, I said universe, there is more out there you know. Both humanoid and not. The ones I like to watch are in New Eden though. The Amarr are the funniest. Worship me as a God, they do!
She laughed a hearty laugh. A laugh you have friend to friend. But, Xavier was not laughing. In fact, he was intrigued. There are others out there? There are other places besides Dustia?
Fate knew about the onslaught of questions to come, so she cut him off.
Ah, but that is for another day. You see, I brought you here for a reason. A reason that I have explained to many, but they refused to listen. Freedom has poisoned their minds. Say, have you spoke to Freedom?
"No." Xavier finally spoke. There was simply nothing to say, before. "No, I have not spoken to Freedom. But I have someone mention him before."
And who was that?
"The one who calls himself Sandromin. Speaks about him like it is his father, he does."
Fate breathed a frustrated sigh.
Let us put him on the list then.
"The list?"
The list on who wants to kill us Gods.
Xavier does not know what to believe. His allies always mumbled of the evils of Fate. Surly she must be deceiving?
She smiled.
I know how you feel. They are good people, Xavier. Do not forget that. It is just that they are deceived, is all. It is not their fault.
"Whose is it, then?"
Freedom's. Freedom is the one who tells of the lie that I should be killed. And why should they stop there. Freedom will go on to say to kill all Gods, and then what will happen to the world, hm? Prosperity? Happiness? Not without the Gods, no.
Fate waves her hand, and then a three-dimensional model of the Dustia floats before them. It spins with a glory like no other, and its continents were green and luscious.
The Gods give stability to this world. They give the world light, the world water, they help the pants grow and blossom, and the list goes on and on.
She waves her hand again. This time the world takes a drastic turn for the worst. The oceans visibly start to evaporate, and at the same time light seems to fade. The world grows a dead brown, contrasting to it's previous luscious green.
This horrifies Xavier. It truly quite shocks him like no other. To see the world in this state kills Xavier, and leaves him feeling lost and hopeless.
Do you see what the deaths of gods will bring? It will bring destruction. Misery. Death. I tell you this, Xavier, for you think the words, 'why does this concern me?" It does, Mr. Xavier, for you will save the world from this. Go, stop Thanatos and the others. Recruit Nexhawk, the Fiery One. I will speak to him, but he will need further convincing.
Suddenly the ground starts to break and shatter. Xavier jumps from his chair and looks around, confused! There was no escape!
Goodbye, Xavier! May your journey be successful.
"Just one more question, what will happen?"
It will be good, Xavier, do not worry.
And then it went black.
[OOC]Don't worry, Alixenus, we all have Plot Armor, so you and your nation will not perish.
And on the magic:
1) Yea 2) Yea 3) Yea 4) There are goblins?! What else lurk in those woods? 4a) Yea 4b) Yea
*Note: Yea is the archaic form of "Yes"*

Awaken.
Xavier lifted himself off the hot, barren ground. He had never seen a land so, fruitless, and yet so alive, before. The land was of scorched crimson, but there were little wisps of strange flowers here and there. The flowers curled in on themselves, and were the same color as the ground. There were trees too, but they were indescribably beautiful. The sky, even, has taken a different aura. The sky was a dark, well, crimson, like everything else. Everything was crimson in these lands. Even the people wore crimson clothing.
On the topic of the people, they were more, open, to magic. One could see them light their stoves with fire that protruded from their hands, and you occasionally saw a parent discipline their child in that way.
What is this place? This place is like the heaven of hell.
But, Xavier could not wonder about such things. He had a mission to undertake. This mission gave him purpose. Made him sane. The book glowed and radiated magic from his hands. The magic pulsated from the book in different colors, ranging from red, green, purple, and even black. This was quite a spectacle to the country-folk, who watched Xavier as he confidently marched to the fiery palace in the distance.

Ner'Zul Nexhawk wrote:Nexhawk experienced a jolt of senses passing through his body. He became overwhelmed with feelings right when the Dark Arcanum appeared within the borders of Spodium.
How could it possibly be...?
He rushed outside of the Grand Hall and saw a human - no, a dwarf! - steadily and confidently walking along the main street of the city. Nexhawk narrowed his eyes as he recognized the book that was the Dark Arcan, which the dwarf was carrying. Then his eyes widened at the astonishing sight of the book pulsating with primal, unharnessed magic. The dwarf himself, however, bore no signs of being attuned to magic in any way. Is this mortal really trying to use the book for his purposes?
Nexhawk rapidly paced toward the newcomer. Upon coming closer, however, he stopped dead in his tracks, for the dwarf's eyes were agleam with emerald hue. Nexhawk smirked at the realization and approached his guest. "Tell me, o mortal: for what purpose did Nak'Sora send you and the Dark Arcanum to me?"
The dwarf tilted his head to the side and glanced suspiciously at him. "I don't quite follow, for I have never met this Nak'Sora of yours."
Nexhawk laughed. "Oh, but you have. Nak'Sora is our name for one of the gods that rule over this world and many others. This name has many literal translations, such as the Hand of Guidance, the Keeper of Future, the Prophet of Time... But her most recent name," Nexhawk pressed his lips in sorrow, "is the Doomweaver. Here, in your language, though, she may be known simply as... Fate." "The Doomweaver, eh? Well, there is a reason Fate has sent me. A reason I expect you will not believe."
He looked a the Fiery Lord, the one who spoke to everyone at the conference. He had an elderly look. A look that told you that he was more wise then anyone you could know.
Xavier looks down at his book.
"This is a good book, you know."
He brings it to his chest and thumps it with his hand. With every thump, the book radiates magic father and more furiously.
"I am sure you have heard of Thanatos, no? Thanatos is the one who calls himself 'Death'. He is coming to your land to proclaim his servitude to the one called 'Freedom'. This, my friend, will not do."
Xavier looks into the man's eyes.
"He will tell you about the evils of Fate, and how we must destroy her. I am here to warn you otherwise. Fate, as haughty as she is, must be protected and preserved."
Nexhawk looks at him, albeit curiously.
"Fate is the one who guides us on our path. She decides our future, and then makes sure it is carried out. She is the conductor of our carriage, which is life. Imagine if the conductor was killed. Who would drive the carriage, hmm? Certainly not us, we do not know how. And with this I ask you, please, join me to prevent Death from destroying Fate. It will be difficult, I assure you. Thanatos is powerful, and so too, will be Alixenus and Sandromin, if he is teach them. Oh, but it will be worth it, comrade, for it is better to have a world than none at all." |

Ner'Zul Nexhawk wrote://OOC: Alixenus, I laughed at the birds remark. //End of OOC\\ Nexhawk listened attentively as the dwarf talked about his mistress' desires. Mentions of Thanatos and his affiliation with death caused his mind to reminisce on one of the events of the day the Ashborn arrived on this continent. Death... Was that the one whose presence was revealed so abruptly? "I do not know which of the gods you call Freedom, so this tells me almost nothing. I would like, however, to hear more about these three people whose names you've said. Who are they? Leaders of powerful nations? A band of odd heroes looking for an adventure?" His gaze fell upon the book that the dwarf thumped several times. "And your mistress that you so obediently follow... What will make me think I can trust her motives? Where is the proof that she has cleansed herself of the corruption that befell here millennia ago? And tell me," Nexhawk crossed hands on his chest, "dwarf, whose name I don't even know - do you trust your Fate?" "Freedom... Freedom is the one that aims to 'liberate' the people of Dustia from Fate. Thanatos is the one who is now Death Incarnate, and is in command of the nation 'Diyad'. Alixenus is and noble warrior, and friend, of mine. There was once a great turmoil in his nation, so I am not quite sure what he is in charge of now. And Sandromin, the shy boy, that man rarely ever speaks. He is in command of the Sand Nation, located in the center of Mediterra."
Xavier grins a mischievous grin. "Do you sir think that I like Fate? I have met her personally, twice. She was better the second time, but... I do what I need to do. And define 'Proof', Nexhawk, the Fiery One. What could I give you, hmm? A piece of paper? How about an artifact, hmm? How about she herself?"
And with that, a faint mist started to surround the area. All bystanders, all servants, seemed to stand still. Lifeless, unmoving.
The elderly man was bewildered. The mist in front of he and Xavier began to take the shape of a young woman.
"Behold, the arrogant and benevolent, Fate herself!" |

[OOC]I am the only one who believes that Fate is good? I mean, honestly, Xavier and I both believe she is good, and needs to be preserved.
Also, Fate does not control Xavier through the book, he does whatever he chooses, and it so happens to firmly believe in Fate's survival.
And again, I repeat, Fate should not be considered 'evil' or 'corrupt'. I would consider her 'neutral' as it may. She does both evil and good, simply because the other gods demand it, and because she has done that before and it failed miserably.
A good lore moment, she could have designed a first 'perfect' race of humans, which had no flaws in any which way or form. Something bad happened, for example the race began to rebel against Fate, which sent things spiraling out of control.
I'm not going to go into any more detail, simply because, and I admit this, I am just too lazy.
Food for thought.

[OOC]Please forgive my absence, everyone. At least you all have been somewhat busy...
All right, time to unleash my inner Xavier...[/OOC]
Failure. Failure. The mission was completely unsuccessful. Fate herself even showed, yet he was not amazed. He did not even have the need to blink his old, wise eyes. Se froze time in its place, and even spoke to him, and still, he was not fazed. What a strong man. A strong man of will. Dare say a stubborn man. But, he tried to do what was right. For his people. For himself. And Xavier respected this. The populace of Lucia was Xavier's life. His soul. His essence. The thought that he knew they were free, and safe, empowered him. The power he had over them, strengthened him. In fact, he could not tell any more what he desired the most, power, or the joy of freedom. Xavier was confused. Nexhawk was not. This is how the respect was won.
The man simply turned, and walked away. Not very far, mind, just to, Xavier presumed, the royal stables. What was the color? Take a guess? Crimson! Yes, crimson! The stables were much more fine then that, though. The crimson flowers Xavier had seen on his walk to the palace were quite abundant, and were clinging gracefully to the beam that supported the stable. Many strange symbols were engraved on the stable, except they moved. They seemed to all swirl in a clockwise direction, and at the same pace. They glowed with a, wait for it, crimson hue, as if warding off some evil.
The beasts were more beautiful then the stables, however. At first glace, all you saw were impossibly large eggs. The eggs were surprising not crimson, but were a pure white with black spots surrounding it. Then the magic happened. The beasts could hatch at will, and it was extraordinary! The shells would crack fiercely, as if it had a purpose. Crack. Crack. Crack. Strange crimson hues would emit from these crevices, which then would overtake the whole egg. After a few seconds, the lights would subside, and a large, majestic bird would appear in its place, the egg not to be seen. It seemed to be made of pure fire (which was in a visibly recognizable shape of a very large bird). The fire on the bird was ever flowing, and it was so detailed and precise that you could see every single feather. It was a surprise that Nexhawk did not get burned.
Nexhawk spoke of going to the enemy, and asked if Xavier would like to join him.
"Nay, comrade. I can not go to the heart of the beast. It would not be wise with the book," he thumped it twice, "and the very different views of my own."
Nexhawk nodded to him, and appeared to be wanting to make his bird sour.
"Remember, Nexhawk, the carriage cannot be driven if the conductor is dead. Heed this warning, Nexhawk, and may you persuade them to join The Cause."

He won't hesitate to break a law (especially an oppressive one)if it is for the greater good. He isn't Superman so he's not afraid to get his hands dirty if need be. Nexhawk was ready to lift in the air when something hit him. I cannot let go. Not this time, not that the book has been figuratively given into my hands. This is it, the chance to redeem my people! He addressed the Dwarf politely.
"While our intentions might not line up right now, I believe your presence in this capital of Diyad will be most crucial. You must understand Nak'Sora's motives better than anyone else, and hence your words will have the best chance of talking sense into the other leaders. I clearly understand the importance of the book you are holding, and I certainly value your desire to bring it to Spodium."
A new fire sparked in Nexhawk's eyes, a flame of determination. "How about this: for the duration or our journey to Diyad, I will offer my ultimate and utmost protection for you and the Dark Arcanum. Basically, this means that anyone other than you, Xavier, will be able to put his hands on the book solely over my corpse. And trust me when I say," a smirk appeared on his face, "that no demigod on Praecantaria has ever fallen to mortal weapons or something other than pure magic. I do not plan to break this tendency. So, what do you say now?" Xavier looks to Fate, the violet mist still shrouding the air and keeping the serfs frozen.
Go. It will be in our benefit if others hear the truth. You have my blessing.
"Very well. Ha! The blessing of Fate and a demigod? Many men do not have as great of fortune as I!"
He eyes the white eggs in the stables. The were moving back and forth slightly, all in unison.

BootStrapWill wrote:OOC: //Sorry to interject with the story. I've been following along, but was a few days behind.
I know you all have fairly settled the matter of the Dark Arcanum, but I had a thought that might mesh the disparate stories a little better, without stepping on toes.
I see it as the DA was originally crafted by Fate as a tool for the Deathlord (capital D marking the master from the servants), and as such she imbued part of his soul into the book, along with the stolen soul of the betrayer.
This imbuing of combative souls granted the book exceptional power, and a knowledge of magic far surpassing any normal means, but also engendered an oily film of insanity as both aspects battled for eternity inside the tome.
If you'll pardon the Harry Potter reference, I see the book as a Horcrux of sorts. It functions as a part of the Deathlord's soul, and remains highly potent while disconnected from the source, but exponentially strengthens the Deathlord (AN) if/when he is reunited with the book.
This could play into the suggestions floating in Xavier's head, the book wants to be whole, even at the cost of the bearer's life to get back to the Deathlord.
Intrinsically tied to the fact that the book is a horcrux, as long as the book exists, the Deathlord will find a new host to infect with an aspect of himself, until he slowly rises to prominence again. This would give a purpose to the roving deathlords (lower case d to indicate the slave kings), as they are prowling around looking for their risen master, and performing nefarious feats as well to bide time.
As to meshing the history, the book was created by Fate, stolen by the Five, returned by the betrayer, and bound to the Deathlord. Deathlord fled Precantaeria for the other continent where he eventually died at the hands of the first hero under Freedom. Unfortunately for this hero, he was much like Isildur in his ignorance of the danger a mere "trinket" could pose, so he did not ensure that the book was destroyed. Since the book is part of the Deathlord, it willfully bonded itself to one of the hero's retinue, and became immaterial, hiding in the soul of the poor retainer. The book waited many long years before deciding the danger had passed and elected to re-materialize, crafting the idea that the scribes had "created" the book recently. The book influenced those present to decide that it would be best to spirit the book away, to keep it "safe", when in fact the book was having them move it away from the greatest danger present, the king. Thus it came to be hidden on the logipriest island long ago, and it slumbered while awaiting the rise of the true host, the next great AN.
I am not sure if this conflicts with any of the established lore, this is just what I took from reading the different origins of the book. After all, as was stated before, history is written by the victors, and in this particular instance, the real victor has been the book for an unknown length of time.
As I am not a contributing author to the world, take my suggestions with a ton of salt. I figured this would blend the two stories, and posit that the book has a malicious will of it's own, when not being directed externally by Fate to be docile. (Reason for fluctuating insanity for Xavier)
Also, everyone's story here is awesome. I would definitely pay to read your work in hard-back format. //End OOC I always did give the impression that the Dark Arcanum (The Book) had a mind of its own, and (was) influencing Xavier's thoughts until it recently took a liking to him.
My back-story on the book is that, yes, it was crafted by Fate, but it originally was destined to be good, and help The Five mold the world into a paradise. They succeeded, but one of the Five became corrupt, greedy, and twisted the book with dark magics. He essentially made the paradise world a living hell, until all the Gods caught wind of the destruction and mayhem he caused. The Gods took to recreating the world in their hands, because they could no longer trust humans. This was, however, not a paradise, for they deemed that the punishment was too great to be put on only The Five. The severely limited the powers of the Five, and banished to specific locations in Dustia. Here is where The Five created societies that revolved around different magics, such as fire or water. To limit their ever growing knowledge, the Gods imposed a mandatory reincarnation period every 150 years, where they were forced to be reincarnated into another human being, but without the knowledge they previously possessed. This forced The Five to write down everything they have learned, so the previous life could have the same powers as they.
The evil member of the Five, the one who corrupted the world, was banished to the farthest and most desolate place in Dustia, where he would remain for all eternity. This man is the AN. The Book was also separated from him, for his powers are worthless without it.
Or so it seems...
And that is my back-story. It probably conflicts with something, I'm sure of it. But, nevertheless, here it is. How do all of you like it? |

Of course, the same can be reached by just speaking to a phoenix, but in situations like aerial battles thoughts prove to carry information faster than words that were derived from that thought. Since there will be no such link between you and the mount, your phoenix will just be told to follow mine, and you will not need to control it in any way. Just hold on tight."
He extended his hand and pointed at one of the eggs. Upon casting a spell, a small fireball darted to it and threw its shell open. In a glorious transformation, Xavier's phoenix erupted from its egg and looked curiously at its future rider. It than tilted its head and glanced at Nexhawk, as if listening to something inaudible to the Dwarf. The creature gawked, as if in agreement, and leaned to the ground, indicating that Xavier could mount it now. Nexhawk caught Xavier's nervous gaze and told him, "Don't worry about the flames; if you are a friend, they will not burn you. Now climb atop and tell me when you are ready to depart." The Phoenix beckoned to him, beckoned for someone to ride him, so Xavier, albeit reluctantly, for it seemed to made of pure fire, cautiously got on the back of the beast. Xavier looked back at the eerie, violet mist. Fate was gone, and the mist itself was fading away, going back to whatever realm it came from. The people started to move again, with no recollection of the fact that they were previously frozen in time.
Xavier looked into those old, wise eyes. The beast gave a screech from under him.
"I am ready. Let us be off."

It would be a perfect dream if Xavier wasn't in mind numbing pain due to the sudden change in altitude. He tried to strike up a conversation: "Nexhawk, how did you learn of this book?" "Oh, legends, mostly", Nexhawk started reminiscing. "Even I was not born when Nak'Sora created the book for her twisted purposes. During that time, the five nations on Praecantaria were ruled by the Five, powerful Archmages. When they found out about the Dark Arcanum, despite all the warring going between the factions, the Five managed to steal the book. Don't ask me how they managed to do that, but stories tell about their legendary magical abilities... Anyways, soon after stealing it, one of them, a Life Warden, sought to steal the secrets of the Dark Arcanum and gain Nak'Sora's favor and maybe even part of her power. He killed the rest of the Five with the spells from the book and brought it to the goddess, who promptly killed him after receiving the Dark Arcanum. Afterwards, the book was given to the Deathlord that she created herself, and the trail has been lost since then. Until," he motioned in Xavier's direction, "you conveniently brought it to my doorstep." He pursed his lips. "It's probably best to admit now that I have been searching for the book myself for quite a while. I feel that it will be of high importance in one of my future..." his fingers instinctively felt a half-spherical object, concealed in one of his belt pouches, "shall I say, endeavours. That is why I feel as if your appearance in Spodium is part of something higher, not just Nak'Sora's unknown intentions. But I start to ramble." Nexhawk curiously looked at the Dwarf. "What intrigues me from the beginning is how the book came in your possession. I'd like to hear more about that." When looking for a traitor look towards your right-hand man.
Xavier cradled the book closer to him.
"Let us hope the book does not get in between us."
"Where did I get the book? Humble beginnings, comrade! You see, Sandromin, the Sand King, and Thanatos, were searching for the book, yes? My darling... hm?. Yes, they were searching for it. This was during the zombie outbreak; I don't know if you can recall that that or not. This outbreak essentially turned the whole Logipriest Nation into flesh-eating cannibals overnight. None of us actually knew the reason, but Thanatos believed that My Book did this. Folly, true, but he thought this all the same. They searched and searched, until they found out where it was; In the Logipriest capital! Thankfully, I was there to overhear the location and their plans. As you may soon find out, I am no fan of Thanatos. He is a cruel tyrant who is extremely egotistical. So, I promptly left, unexcused of course, to intercept them before they got there. I was a tad bit late, for they were already in the temple. When I searched for them inside, I saw Thanatos reaching for the book. Thank the heavens, Fate herself intervened! She killed the man, for better or for worse, for he is much stronger now then he was before."
Xavier saw a faint object in he distance. It seemed to be metallic in structure, and appeared to be docked on an island.
"Enough of the story telling, that is irrelevant. Let us meet our 'band of heroes', shall we?"

Vyzion, you are a marvelous storyteller. You should take up writing.[/OOC]
Ner'Zul Nexhawk wrote:Nexhawk inspected Xavier's face as the latter told the story of his acquisition with the Dark Arcanum. This one will have extreme difficulties parting with the corrupted book. It will certainly take a lot of convincing, if not even worse. Let's hope he will see reason in my cause.
His eyes narrowed, and he nodded toward the Dwarf's last remark. Nexhawk murmured several words in his Phoenix's ear, and the two birds graciously descended toward the metal airship.
Nexhawk glanced at Xavier. "I couldn't help but hear you mentioning those Logipriests. What kind of people are they?" "The Logipriests? They are a simple bunch. I do not know what what they exactly worship, but they do have temples scattered round and such. Be warned, though, the more Logipriests that die, the more the others get stronger. There are one or two left now, I would assume that they have immense power."
Xavier shrugged. The Logipriests were no threat to him, or the rest of the world. They were powerful, yes, but there is a difference between power and actually knowing how to use it.
Xavier ears began to pop frantically as they descended. This pain very great, but the reward was greater. Yes, the reward of enlightening fools of the deceit of Thanatos, and teaching the truth about Fate.
The castle was almost right in front of them. It had marvelous architecture; the walls had no cracks and crevices to be seen, and there were many arches and open-ways, which was very unique for the time period.

If you have any further questions regarding his presence in the city or your relations with him, please direct them at me personally." He noticed Ignatus walking rapidly toward the group. The latter approached Nexhawk, and the two Ashborn shook hands in greeting. Ignatus looked suspiciously at Xavier while retelling recent events to his lord. "All leaders are here: Thanatos, the one of the death itself; Alixenus, the leader of Venezzians, who met Cenizar's ship; and Sandromin, who-" "I know, the gifted one," Nexhawk interrupted him promptly. "Now, can you lead me to their current location?" "Not quite, my lord," Ignatus sighed, "for they have some sort of a meeting in Thanatos' palace. I was not let in, so I am afraid you will have to wait as well. And may I ask you, how does this... Dwarf have the book itself?" "It's a long story, Ignatus," Nexhawk laughed. "Let's just say that he arrived at Spodium by his own means, with the Dark Arcanum. And it is fine about the delay. I have waited quite a long time to even contact a first representative from Mediterra, so I will be able to wait a little more. Before you lead me to the palace, though..." Nexhawk turned to the two guards and tossed them a pouch filled with something soft. "There are about twenty cendren leaves, brought from my homeland. Every two hours or so, simply place one leaf on each of the eggs, and they will take care of the rest. Be sure to feed the Phoenixes on time, otherwise," he chuckled, "they will wake up and look for the leaves themselves." He gazed back at Ignatus, and after words "Lead the way" the two Ashborn headed to the royal palace. Xavier was walking aside the two men. It was quite a lovely place it was. Almost akin to Alixenus's palace, except more gold, and fewer weapons.
They want it. The book, yes. My darling, they want it all for themselves... The heathens! No-one takes my book away from me, no-one, no-one...
Both men were chatting happily, until Xavier broke in:
"Why do you want my book? What purpose could my darling have to you?" |

Vyzion Eyri wrote:OOC: Galrick's posts bring up an interesting point to consider. Where are we going? I'm happy to continue plunging into the dark and extracting the most fantastical tales from somewhere inside of me, but in the far, far future, what so you guys foresee? I mean, are we creating our own New Eden here? Perhaps we are the remnants of a space-age civilisation when we were fatefully cut off from everyone else when a worm hole closed? Or are we never going to progress to this technological tier? Right now, FTL and clone technology would screw up our story because we're progressing in a style which favours the magical, not technological. This is very strange because I've never seen a story where magic and gods are juxtaposed against such an objective race as the Collective. I've never seen, barring the Force, any magical power combined with spaceships and warp drives.
We might be forging a new genre here, my friends. I only hope that the story does not restrict new writers from joining us. 40 pages is daunting enough to fight through without creating too many rules to abide by that all our readers (not even sure how many actually read this besides us) are afraid to join in on the fun because they fear tripping over lore bombs, slipping up on technological progression or falling into endless plot holes.
If Galrick wishes, I don't see why he can't simply depart from the planet in his Ark. Some might go with him, some may not. There are so many paths, so many crossroads, that it isn't necessary to tell him he can't progress this fast.
He could leave behind the knowledge needed to create our own starships.
He could stay and remain how he is, and the Ark project could experience some unforeseen crisis and is shut down for a few decades.
If we decided to follow his idea, using his Ark as Noah did his, and evacuated before the supernova that I foolishly decided to add without really thinking it through, this is still viable.
Hell, Galrick, you could even delve into the creation or birthing process of new robots for a couple of pages while you wait for events to turn towards your favour. I, for one, would be intrigued by how your robots come to be.
There are dozens of other thing that are possible, hundreds of thousands even.
Options, my friends. We have them. Never say never, and at the risk of sounding even more cliche, always endeavour!
Remember, this is freedom. Writing is freedom.
Swords are sharp, guns are powerful, Death Stars can decimate planets, gods create them. Words can form them all, and destroy them in an instant.
And let me tell you. If we were word-warriors, gentlemen, we would be the elite. Forty pages, from a humble beginning. This is no mean feat, especially with such a boring audience. (I kid, I kid.) [OOC]I despise when I am gone for one-two days. So much that I miss in that time.
I understand what you are saying, and I would agree with you on this, if we had a larger player base.
Actually, no I wouldn't Faster then light travel? At this rate? Absurd.
But, with the player base point, we only have, about, say, five or six writers? If three of them run off with Galrick, that leaves two people on Dustia, and it would not be diverse and exciting as it is now with only two people writing about their encounters together, no? This story, this epic, revolves around all of us. If one of us falls out, it would upset the balance of things. I just have a strange felling that if some of us just left Dustia, then chaos would ensue.
Unless, everyone went. Then that would be interesting. Only 50,00 Dustians left, trying to find a new home...
*Also, the merge with magic and technology has been done before, primary with some of the Final Fantasy Games, and Bungie's upcoming Destiny.
I will now write my response to Nexhawk's post. |

[OOC]I believe it would be much easier if we just narrated Fate within our own posts. If she talks to Xavier, then I will write how I perceive her.
If she talks to Alixenus, then he will narrate how he perceives her.
And so on, and so forth.
But let us not completely demonize her. I have shown a (moderately) good side of her. She is not Chaotic Evil. Perhaps Lawful Evil? Or maybe even Lawful Neutral, for she is Fate, and therefore by nature must be unbiased about every-which thing.[/OOC]
Ner'Zul Nexhawk wrote:The two Ashborn raised their eyebrows at the daring question. Nexhawk abruptly stopped and whirled toward the Dwarf. "What made you think we want the Dark Arcanum? Judging from the pain and suffering it brought to the people of Praecantaria, one of my kind would be very foolish to desire the book for themselves. Trust me, there is no reason for us to wish to possess the Arcanum." Nexhawk rubbed his chin. The book truly has a great influence on his mind.
A thought of revelation pierced his mind. "Wait, is that all about the time I mentioned that the book will be crucial in my future endeavor?" He chuckled and patted Xavier's shoulder. "Believe me, my friend, you have absolutely nothing to worry about. You see, I am looking for a certain artifact. My suspicions are high that the Dark Arcanum is a necessary component for its assembly, but it simply needs to be present at the site. Hence, you will part with it for only a few moments while I will finish the incantations that bind the parts of the artifact together. Right now, however, I cannot tell you more about this object, so you'll have to excuse me." Xavier violently brushed off the hand on his soldier. The men wanted the book. He knew this. Knew it in his heart. The book knew this. Every sane man in the world knew this. That wanted it for their own twisted, vile deeds....
"No! Never will you touch this!" He cradled it in his arms, like his lost newborn baby. "She is mine! Mine! Your greedy little paws will not touch this, no, it will not! Never it will! Oh, I knew the day I saw you, that you could not be trusted..."
He was screaming at the top of his lungs now. Everyone in the castle heard the rage in his voice. A rage that no god, no human, no demon, could ever possess. The book chuckled at Xavier. It laughed. It took joy in his plight. This made him angrier. Made him lust for blood, for it's taste would most certainly calm his nerves.
He looked at Nexhawk, who was stunned about what had just happened. 'How could someone be so, unstable?' he was surely wondering.
Ah, but what a fool he was, for he does not know of the feeling of your sanity, slowly chipping away! It is like a part of yourself has been carelessly dropped right in front of your eyes, and you are hopeless to stop it. With every shatter, every chip lost in the deep bowls of the void, your eyes will grow so much more dim, your ears will ring so much more, and soon, you will always have the sudden urge to shout about the most random of things! But if you do, the chips! They crack and shatter more! Like glass, just dropped on the floor. No more will his sanity be perfect. His sanity, at best, can only be mended.
Ignatus seemed to step in front of his master, as if protecting him. Such folly, for all knew that a battle would ensue, and he would go down fighting...
Or, at least, that is what would have happened. Oh, but it is a blessing to have Fate itself on your side! She benevolently repressed the book's thoughts and influences on his mind; quite permanently, actually. But the damage was done. Repairing that mind in such a state, she could not do. This mind was almost impossible to repair. Oh, but she tried her best, she did, and, be assured, every bit helps.
So, logically, this is what truly happened:
Nexhawk's hand was pressed on Xavier shoulder. It was a firm grip. A pleasant grip. A warm grip. He looked in the man's eyes. The were, hmmm, crimson, but a friendly kind. Xavier could almost see the horrors the elder experienced, but also the happy times, the good times. For a split second, Xavier felt a rage like no other, greater than his hate for Thanatos himself, but it subsided, for the warmth mended his soul, and protected him from the corruption of the book.
"Please, walk on, comrade. Forgive my outburst; it was mighty rude of me to interrupt your conversation. But please, do not mind me walking with you, for I have absolutely no-one else to speak to." |

Novelization, is, well, novelization. He almost has to put everything in his own writing style. I don't see how he couldn't, unless he just copy-and-pastes the whole thing, which would be no fun at all!
P.S. On a further note, I do believe that Sandromin has yet to reply to finish the meeting. He has to do this soon, for the thread is starting to stall, except for a few well written lore bombs, which I don't feel like writing right now.

Vyzion Eyri wrote:OOC: I love how we keep each other going. I'll admit right here, if I were writing a story of such magnitude alone, I would've given up a long time ago.
______
Conyr struggled as he was dragged closer and closer to the pot, which now loomed over his vision as if it were a malevolent king, hissing and spitting at its unworthy subjects. The single torch held by the dwarf girl - for Conyr seemed to think she was fairly young, however crazy she was- combined with the roaring blaze under the cauldron cast eerie, dancing light and equally fluid shadows over the large cave the logipriest now found himself in.
The strange creature dragging him, which looked like a scrawny monkey with a strange, wolfish face and completely black eyes, stopped before its back touched the pot and looked at the dwarf, supposedly for further instructions. Conyr was panting hard, trying to fill his lungs with the warm, moist air but never feeling as if a breath was enough. The cauldron boiled on, imperiously disregarding the logipriest's fear and inner turmoil.
"Please..." Conyr's voice was still raspy from thirst, and it occurred to him that it was cruel irony that he was probably going to die in a pot of water.
"Oh, listen! Listen, Raveral, listen, Raveria. The green one speaks! What have you to say, little green food?"
"I don't taste good."
The dwarf laughed, laughed so hard the creature on her shoulder clutched her neck in surprise as she tossed her head back. For a solid minute, she guffawed until, managing to stifle the mirth to a hearty chuckle, she wiped the tears from her eyes. Then as suddenly as she had started laughing, her expression changed into a demented mask, her eyes boring holes into Conyr, striking fear into his heart.
She stared at Conyr for another long minute, until the fear subsided and Conyr was feeling more puzzled than alarmed. Then she looked away, crooning to her monkeys, who were jumping around her in circles, screeching softly back at her. Then they stopped, and all three turned towards Conyr.
"We have come, hehehe, to a-" and she couldn't contain herself, and suddenly she was laughing again. Then she stopped. Then she turned back to Conyr. "An AGREEMENT!"
Conyr flinched in his bonds at the resounding boom of her voice.
"We won't eat you."
Conyr could barely contain a sigh of relief, and suddenly he felt the air feel cooler and easier to inhale.
"But we will eat your friend. You can join us if you like."
And with that, she walked out, back into the tunnel towards Hakyi, her monkeys in tow. Conyr was left staring at their receding backs, horrorstruck. [OOC]You were the one who received that revolver, correct? Chekhov's Gun, remember! Except a tad bit more literally this time...[/OOC]
The two men bickered with each other like a married couple. Every now and then, curious glances were upon Xavier; most likely wondering why he stared blankly into space.
Oh! If they only knew the reason! If they only knew the reason Xavier was so unresponsive! Oh! The men could not comprehend what was happening to him, the evil, twisted things! Not even Thanatos, Death Incarnate, could understand! He, oh he, even he has no experienced his mind being broken before him, with the pieces falling everywhere and bleeding his feet!
For all the ones who are not he, Xavier, The Lost Mind, Xavier appeared to be silent, intently listening, even. But from the man himself! The man himself saw things that no man should see! That no man should experience!
Xavier stood before them both, ready to speak his mind, reveal the glory and truth of Fate. But something strange happened. Something, peculiar. The words, slowed. Movements, froze. Time itself began to freeze in Xavier's eyes! Oh, but oh! This was not the strangest! The book began to rumble in his hands. It began to change its aura; it had once been a dull blue, but it changed to, to a dark red. A malevolent red. An evil red. Xavier saw what it truly was. Evil. Twisted. Something that should have never been touched. Too late, it was. The book hid itself from Xavier; made itself seem benevolent instead of the evil it was. All it wanted was his mind. That was all. It wanted a host host; it wanted to become whole. So much power it had been to effectively swift its aura from red to blue, that it had to go behind the scenes, instead of directly.Oh, but it knew that that plan would not work! The mind, if played with anymore, would be useless to it! Oh, but, again, a host it needed! And, in a last ditch effort, it tried to obtain it!
And so it was! The fragile mind of the man who bit off more than he could chew, had collapsed! It was over! The mind is a shattered mess, one that had broken forever! The book, it flowed energies to Xavier, and it seeped right through the cracks! Oh, but it was too strong! If it did that when he Xavier first touched it, it would have been successful! But no, the mind, as aforementioned, was beaten too greatly.
As the body fell to the ground, Fate whispered from the heavens, in a sorrowful tone, 'So Mote it Be.'

*clears throat* Lame internet memes aside, no, Xavier won't be a god-powerful-wizard-god-thing.
He has gotten a little powerful, per say, but he will be too crazy to use it. He sees things in his own way now.
Don't worry. The story will still make sense.

Hmmm. Well, apparently you guys are not even fazed by my fainting. I suppose you have seen worse, zombies and all. Of course, what fun would there be without Xavier? None, of course. This story needs an anti-hero/villain/wolf in sheep's clothing somewhere...
I take it I am in an infirmary? Or a stretcher? I'll go with the stretcher.[/OOC]
And so it was! The poor bastard got what no being should ever experience. The absolute and complete lose of the mind. Oh, the woe! Oh, the misery this man must experience!
The stretcher shook back and forth, back and forth, as if someone was rocking a baby in it's cradle. Xavier was a mess. His armor, sweet and shiny, but his face, oh so badly worn. It looked, different. More, wild. More, old. Blood was all across his face. It 'twas a hard, hard fall.
Xavier stirred. There were two men carrying the stretcher. They were both adorned with a pure white robe. This was strange to Xavier. Why wear white was it was destined to get dirty? In dwarven culture, a deep red was the coat doctors wore, so patients could not see the blood.
"Where am I?" asked the tired man in the stretcher.
Both men looked down at him. "He is alive," one said.
"Don't worry. you are going to be alright."
Xavier looked at his body. He was still in his silvery armor which was shining in the sunset. Why was he in the stretcher. He did not feel sick or hurt.
What exactly happened? I opened the book and it, attacked me. I then fell...
The book. Where was the book? The book, that began Xavier's misery, and still will not let go! Oh, the book will not let go!
Xavier suddenly, to the doctors' surprise, rolled over and fell, face first, to the cold pavement. The pain was sharp and sudden, but it did not matter. Xavier wanted the book.
The doctors crowded against Xavier. He had a bloody nose from the fall. They both were urging him to get back on the stretcher.
"No. Leave me be. Both of you." Xavier turned around. He had an aggressive expression on his face. The blood made him seem, demonic.
The men, apparently intelligent, stepped back from the dwarf. He had ambition in his eye. Oh, yes, he was destined to get that book. And with that, he shambled on, down the corridor, where They were conversing..

Thanatos 716 wrote:The medics back away from the enlarged dwarf. Behind them several footsteps simultaneously echo throughout the halls. Guards. Royal guards, dressed in lavish white with crimson capes. They advise the medics to return to their work. A young soldier steps from the ranks. No older than 17. He has a soft complexion and an eager face. He is sure not let his fear show.
"Please sir, you are in a critical state. We advise you not to struggle. We are trying our best to help you."
Xavier turns around. Suddenly, his face loses his previous emotion of rage and anger, and replaces it with joy and laughter, as if seeing a lost sibling from long ago.
He chuckled.
"You, boy, are, special. You, boy, are different than all the cannon fodder here, see?" Xavier points to one of the guards. He was an older man, in his forties. Had a scar under his left eye, he did. One look at that told you he saw a lot of things. Horrid things.
"That man, see, is just like the rest. Destined to die before their King. But no, you, child, are different. Special. Why else would you be here at your age, hmm? All the other guards are in their middle years, unlike you."
All the guards looked around, and murmured things. Conspiracies. All of which, were most likely not good.
"Enough," the one with the scar spoke. "Please come with us. Now." There was intent in his eyes. One could tell he did not like Xavier. Not one bit.
Oh, but why not like the poor Xavier? At least pity him! He is but a man who went over his head; a man who lost direction!
Xavier took a few steps back.
"Oh! Why you so mean? I was just talking to this young man here. Take a seat. You must be reprimanded."
And with a flick of his hand, Xavier forced the man into a crossed-legged position. He tried to up himself, but, alas, the power was too great over him.
"Now. Where were we? Ah, yes!"
Xavier then walked over to the young boy. Instead of backing away like the others, he stood tall, strong, unlike any child of his age.
Suddenly, Xavier clasped his hands on the boy's forehead. There was a long, thunderous, supernatural sound.
Malevolent energies flowed from the damned man's hands, and into the poor child. His body began to convulse while the thunder crackled with laughter.
"So mote it be!" Xavier let go of his temples. The boy fell backwards, eyes wide open in shock. Oh, what a spectacular site! Most mortals would not have dreamed to see such a feat! But, alas, presumably imbuing evil energies into the royal guard was illegal, so the other drew their weapons. Reluctantly, of course.
'Stop! Halt! Cease!' were all words that were shouted from these unfortunate men.
You see, Xavier, the poor bloke, he was puzzled. If anyone did a close observation, they would notice that he looked absolutely confused. He had no idea how what he just did was wrong. Not at all, reader, not at all.
"But what ever did I do wrong?"

[/quote] C'mon Thanatos, sarcasm is my job...
Yes, I am back, everyone! I was supposed to be back a week ago, but They cut my phone line, so my internet, and, yes, phone, went down for this past week.
Anyhoo, let us get writing on this gem of a story!
And as it was, Xavier watched blindly as the events unfolded so very swiftly before his very eyes. Xavier always had thought that Halvedes was a good man. A wise man, able to tell malevolent evil from the gracious good. Perhaps this is still so, but all along, he had been a truly despicable man. A man who did not care about others. A man who simply relished in the harm he inflicted in others. Those poor, poor people... If there was such thing as a soul, they could not go into an afterlife. It was sucked right out of them, such as the snuff from a Teddie Bear.
He seemed so happy. Almost glowing from the essence that he had stole. You would say every look about him showed malevolence, but that would be a falsification, for here was not look about him at all. He had lost all facial features during his transformation. It was smooth, and clear.
Xavier, oh, Xavier was different! While the demon before called the Void took the power from others, Xavier gave it. Xavier gave that young boy the power of magic. Infused it right into his mind, he did! Without being born adept, without the years of training! Yes, that boy who convulsed on the floor as we speak was absorbing the power given to him. May he do right with it.
Xavier looked at the faceless demon.
"Do that a few more times, and no-one will think highly of Fate. We are here to acknowledge her presence and tell people of the truth, not instil fear. That would play right into their hands."

The Void frees them of this corruption. Look at the energy within me. Each individual strand is a life. I do not consume. I am their salvation, I cleanse them of their sins. They are not dead, but merely one with the Void, free of the harshness and cruelty of this physical world..."
"Maybe so, but the flesh is what makes us human. Not all are as fortunate or as holy and god-like as you, Void. You are a different being entirely. But humans; us humans are human, and forever will be human, even if we improve ourselves via magical means. But, being absorbed into you, becoming part of you, causes us to forfeit our humanity. At that, comrade, neither Fate or I will allow."
Xavier suddenly heard the shouts of guards running through the complex. Apparently they have heard the news of their fallen comrades. And the lucky one, the one who lies there in pain, for he will be better than before.
"But enough of these metaphysical ramblings, let us be off. There are more important things to do, more fish to fry." |

Now where were we...
Alixenus wrote:The tempest over Karthage continued unabated. Such was the ferocity of the storm that roads became brooks and streams as the sewage systems and water table failed to contain the deluge. Sandromin continued to look on at the floating facility, searching with his vision, both mundane and otherworldly, for any sign of Thanatos' progress. The rest of the party has seeked shelter indoors, but Sandromin kept his vigil. As he observed Nexhawk circle far above he detected, despite the thunderous sound and fury of the storm, the sound of marching feet and metal grinding on stone. Looking over to where he heard the disturbance he saw Alixenus walking towards him from the descending road he had disappeared down what seemed like at least a half hour ago. Tension has a way of stretching time.
Then slowly, up that road came Ballistas, pushed by both Venezzian and Diyadian working in unison thanks to an old labourers chant that had somehow survived Diyad's separation from it's progenitor. The men with the Scorpios and bolts and slowed down and joined in the chant, it seemed to raise their spirits more than competing to be first. As the men readied the weapons Alixenus finally explained his plan to Sandromin.
"This is still a contingency, but I like to be ready. If Thanatos and Nexhawk appear to be in any situation they can't handle, or they cannot bring that flying fortress down to us so that we may join the battle, I will order these men to fire Grapnel bolts into the facility. Either we then climb the ropes attached to the bolts, or we pull the whole damn thing down to us! So Sandromin, has there been any sign from up there?" Before I begin...
Are you going to bring down the whole medical facility? Are we really that dangerous?
[/OOC]
Thanatos wrote:Void agreed with the dwarf. It was almost time to go.Almost. However he could not take his mind off of what he had heard. He chuckled and murmured to himself:
"Soul is what makes you human, naive dwarf. Flesh? Hehe...merely the building block for organisms. All flesh comes from Dust. When one dies, only their flesh remains. Only the soul ascends to the heavens. To the living the flesh is but a memory of life, the soul is eternal..."
Would one wish to live, to remember forever, or rather to be remembered forever... for living? What does one remember? Their presence or their existence? The being or the Dust? Xavier chuckled a bit. He did always have a fascination for philosophy and those "What Are We" questions. It was cute. It was amusing. It was a test of wits, those questions were. Xavier knew he was going to have much fun with Void, much fun...
He looked into his soulless, pulsating face. "An interesting question, comrade. Multiple answers may be given, since this is an open question and all. But I must definitely believe that..."
Something caught Xavier's. It was not the boy, no. The boy was not important anymore. He was just writhing, getting swept away in the flow of life. It was something peculiar. Something, threatening. It was... a phoenix. The man on it was instantly recognizable. Xavier could never forget the old man's face. It was Nexhawk himself, with fire in his hands.
Xavier went into a fighting stance. "I do believe it is time to go, Void." |

Thanatos 716 wrote:Void had caught Xavier's stare at the fiery lord. Void's eyes were empty of emotions, his clear skin was smooth and lacked the wear and wrinkles unique to human expressions. The only way you could tell what he was thinking, was by his menacing grin, wide and twisted. He looked to Xavier and answered him nonchalantly, "Yes, we should be going now.." He raised his hand hand and before them there was a shimmer in the air, one similar to the effect of magick cloaks of invisibility. Xavier looked to the shimmer with a puzzled expression. For it was not a shimmer, but a ripple in space. The stagnant energy of the space being torn was drawn into Void. The ripple opened up revealing a portal. Th effects of the ripple began to suck all of the furniture and equipment from the building including some of the walls leaving nothing but a large empty room. As they entered the unstable portal they completely disappeared, almost as if they never existed. It simply looked like a white stained glass. But then the white went pitch black. The black was illuminated by the stars and nebulae of space. In the distance was a throne seating an all too familiar goddess. He waved his arm toward the portal as to direct Xavier to enter. On the other side Fate beckoned him. His mind was far too gone now to resist even her weakest attempts at tempting him. He silently entered through the spatial doorway. As he walked towards Fate he felt absence, not Void, but of him. Void had not followed. He tried to lean his head out of the portal to call him, but to no avail. It felt like a thick wall of glass was prohibiting his exit. "No need to worry, they only work one way. If I recall correctly retrieving you was my primary task, I have one more thing to take care of don't I?" Fate nodded silently with a smile. Like a simple decoration he violently pushed the portal to the opposite side of the room. He looked towards Nexhawk. Nak'Sora doesn't take kindly to unexpected guess. Nexhawk caught his glance and maintained eye contact. As long as he was drawn to him only, they had the strategic advantage of a surprise attack. Thanatos had deduced his intentions and began to dart around the corner and scale the wall. Waiting for the PERFECT moment. Void screamed, "I said no guests!" He raised his hand and a large portion of the upper wall before him had ripped away an been sucked into him, fully revealing Nexhawk atop his phoenix. "I see, a pyromancer?" He laughed and took an aggressive stance. " Finally an opponent to truly test my power. He reached behind and a large orb of energy formed in his hand, he launched it in Nexhawk's direction. Hm hm hm. Well, suppose this would be as good a time as ever to bring this up.
Please Try To Constrain Yourselves From Controlling Other Characters In Text-Based Forum games, this tends to happen quite frequently. Yes, it may seem out of place, and ruin the flow, I understand that, but in these types of games you must not, ever, control another person's character/not allow them to respond.
For example, you pushing me into the portal and explicitly telling me that I could not resist is infringing on my narration of my character, because I may have wanted something different to happen, ect.
I'm not picking on you signally, Thanatos. I hope you do not take it that way. It is just that this is a perfect example, and this does need to be brought up, in any Forum game, really.
Generally I/the person would ask you to edit your post, but in this case, I actually like what you did. More potions are open to me and my writing. But in the future, and I speak for everyone, including myself, take heed to not accidentally control another person's character. |

Hello, warrior.
Xavier opened his weary eyes. White. The color white was all he saw. All around him. Above. Below. Left. Right. Just white. There was no floor, either. It seemed as if he should fall through the very place he was standing.
It all happened in a blink of an eye, some would say. A flash, others would. Xavier remembered it vividly. Nexhawk was before them, fire in his hands, ready to burn the evil their souls. Xavier stressed, quite frequently, that it is time to leave the area and to avoid a battle, for reasons unknown. Void agreed, and in an act of, some would say, valor, he pushed him into a vortex which teleported him the location as which he stands right now.
Fate stood before the anguished man. He who has seen things man was never meant to see, and survived. Or did he? For all Xavier knew, he could be in some afterlife, lifted away from the wretched world to a place worse than Hell for the deeds he committed. What deeds, you ask? What Xavier did to the boy, no question, was sinful in the eyes of the Gods. To alter a mans very reality; to turn him to something that he was not; to cut through the steep corners of life; yes, that was sinful. No question about it.
Do not worry about the boy. I have plans for him. And you, too.
Xavier felt an undying loyalty to his mistress. Without her, the world would simply cease to exist.
"I am honored, but-"
This place? An extra-dimensional plane of existence, warrior. The Void. A place of nothingness, a place of everything. You will understand in time. Humanity has yet to discover such things.
"What about the man who was with me? He called himself Void as well. A personification, perhaps?"
You could say that. A... servant of mine. Rebellious at times, but, loyal, nonetheless. You are not fond of him, are you?
"No, my Mistress, I am not. But if you continue to employ his services, who am I to argue?"
Do not think like that, Warrior. You have served me faithfully, even after I was forced to let you fall. You have earned your right to speak.
"Thank you. Now, the task?"
Indeed. Have you heard of the Giant's Lands?
"No."
I see. Do you remember Brutus, Xavier?
Ah, Brutus. I remember quite well. Hmph! The folly in that beast astounds me. Threaten the King of the Dwarves! Ha! I honestly do not understand how Alixenus was so found of that thing...
Sadness washed over Xavier. Xavier considered Alixenus a social equal, and to some extent, a friend.
"Yes, Mistress."
His lands are the ones I refer to.
"I am not fond of this giant. What are his lands to me?"
His lands are not, how you say, pleasant. Most of the living has been purged from the land, via the beings called ferals. They are humanoid in appearance. Whether they were aptly so, or animals imbued with dark magics, I do not know.
"But you are Fate. You know all!"
That is not actually so. I set a path, warrior. Some are able to scurry from he path, intentionally or unintentionally. This sets the world into unbalance, for those who realize they are 'free' with try to help others become so as well. I cannot let that happen. The man behind this all escaped his reins. Put him down, warrior.
"Who is the man, Fate? I need a name."
You hasd his book.
The book. My Book.
Rage enveloped Xavier. Suddenly he could hear voices in his ears, calling to him, saying 'Find me, help me.' And others, saying 'Run. A trap. Fall not into her hands!' They beckoned to his very soul, causing it writhe in misery as they grasped at it. The voices grew louder and louder. Xavier banged his head with fists. Crimson-Red blood began to drip from his nose. He looked up, and saw shadowy figures surrounding him, circling him. Whispering those dreaded thoughts.
Listen to me, Xavier. Find the book, and you be at peace for a little while longer. There is a city by the coast, one of the last known safe havens. Go there, and the book will come to you. Sorry I cannot assist you any more, Hero.
The demons swirled Xavier. A blinding white light came from below. Xavier let out a shrilling scream.
He was gone. |

[OOC]*clears throat* Well, if none of you mind, I'm going to head over to your temple now, and steal the eye. Don't worry, the Ashborn will die a painful and frightful deaths.
And I can do that because they are not main characters. Hooray!
Also, what is the eye going to do again? I've forgotten half the story! I was in the medical bed, fought you, pushed in the portal, and was going to be teleported somewhere. Oh, well, here goes!
[/OOC]
All around Xavier, the jungle bellowed. Various birds chirped and squawked as they flew away, away from the sound that startled them. The ground below was lush and thick with brush, color which ranging from across the spectrum. Blue, green, violet. Even the occasional strips of crimson could be seem, possibly a foreshadow to future events.
It had been a while before he stepped into the land of the Logipriests. That long lost nation, where only a few remain. It was all so simple, the stands, the houses. Everything about their culture had an aura of happiness and content. But now, all there was only the lost sounds of the damned in it's place.
Xavier stepped out of the brush and onto the street. It was run down and dilapidated. The cracked stone of the houses were crumbling as we speak, destroying the old homes of children, wives, and fathers. The sky was a dull blue, as if it was mourning for the people who never had a chance too. And in the distance, a large structure was present. The old temple. Where everything started. Where everything changed for Xavier. Where the book lashed it's slimy claws on him. Poor Xavier! Woe be onto him!
He began to walk. As he did so, the voices of many demons ruptured into a chorus in his mind. A chorus of pain and loneliness. A chorus of evil and hate. They taunted Xavier. Pleaded with him. Saying things that he could not comprehend, for the voices were muffled. Whispers. Very distant whispers. As he walked, shades of the dead formed around him. Going about their very lives, as if they still lived them. Wives cooked. Children played. And husbands started to lift their weary heads.
Then the horror came. Mods of people rushed towards the houses, blood in their mouths and rage in their eyes. Their stomachs with thin, you could see their ribs through their clothes.
Xavier fixated his gaze on one house. Two children where playing in the yard. A husband was kissing his mate. A happy family. A perfect family. A family that everyone should strive for. The mob went to them. Their blood-curling screams rang throughout the town, causing tiny shews to scurry away. The children stopped chasing eachother for a minuet. And looked. They could not comprehend what was going to happen to them. They could never fathom it.
The mod hit like a tidal wave. The of the children were muffled by the screams of the infected. But, after a few seconds it stopped. The screaming. It was replaced by the mother's, as she watched her children's flesh torn from their bones, their carcases becoming unrecognizable skeletons with each and every bite.
Xavier fell to his knees, and bawled. The sorrow of that scene was too much for Xavier. But the voices did not agree. They spoke to him, all in unison, in a booming tone:
WATCH, XAVIER! WATCH YOU FOOL!
One of the demons grabbed Xavier skull, and forced it forward. The zombies stormed the house. It was wrecked. Gnawing sounds were emanated from the house. Blood began to flow in a steady stream from the steps.
The demons laughed a hearty laugh. The suffering of the shades and Xavier were great, and they took pride in exploiting it.
Xavier clasped his sweaty palms onto his temples. The laughing. The visions. It was all too much to bear.
"Make it stop! MAKE IT STOP!"
"Who goes there?"
Suddenly, reality came back to him. Two ashborn, clad in armor, were headed his way. |

Just to recap, I have permission to kill your guards at the location of the eye, Nexhawk, correct? How would you like it to be done, back and forth, balanced, where I write vague things such as:
"then Xavier was to deal the final blow"
Where then you respond, and let it happen? Or would you allow me to just write it myself, fighting and killing them both in one post?
Both are acceptable, just one allows you to provide input, and provide a "fight sequence", if you will, and not make me overpowered in that battle. The other just saves time and makes things flow better. It is your call. |

The two Ashborn, their right hands at the hilts of the obsidian blades, cautiously approached the suffering dwarf. His sight was, to say the least, very unnerving. Suspicious of a dark entity that was tormenting Xavier, they conjured protective fiery cloaks to envelop them and hinder any assault, and afterwards hastily walked up to him. One of the Ashborn, wearing a hood, asked, "Are you alright?" Xavier looks at the man blankly. His facial expressions were nonexistent. It was as if the statement needed to register in his ears. When it did, he smiled.
"Alright, alright?" Xavier bellows with laughter, sweet, genuine laughter. "Alright? What could be wrong? The fact that the damned scream in my ears? Or the fact that you trample on the will of Fate herself!
He laughed again, and then stopped. The joy left. The men no longer humored him. They were there. Just, there, and they were not going to leave. Not going to leave the Eye alone, all the dead alone...
Rage came up from within Xavier, except, for the first time in a long while, Xavier felt as if he was in his natural state. As if he was always meant to feel like this.
He pointed at both men, Their wickedness apparent. The sins of their fathers, the sins of the now. They were enveloping them in a sea of darkness, until the last fade of color were consumed by it. They were no longer human, only vassals for their sin.
"Your sins are apparent, heathens! How dare you disgrace the resting place of the damned, looking for the Eye! Even the attempt to find it serves as a slap in the face for my mistress, and I will not allow that!
The voices started to swirl before Xavier. They whispered a manner of things, all unintelligible. The whispered and whispered, talked bickered before him. Back and forth, back and forth.
Suddenly, time slowed. The spirits stopped in their tracks, and all said in unison:
KILL THEM!
And with a flick of his hand, and with the smell of his own burning flesh, he sent out a ball of hell's flame towards the evildoers.
[OOC]Sorry for the bad writing. I haven't written in a while. By the way, most of this, such as the blackness enveloping the two men, are all in Xavier's head.[/OOC] |

Also, this may be a bit OP, but that is kinda the point. Also, I will be fighting against three main characters, possibly more. I deserve to be a little OP.
Quote by "The Fire Man" wrote: The two mages recoiled as Xavier started speaking. They witnessed madness violently swirling in his eyes, heard it penetrate every word he uttered. And then, surprisingly, the dwarf launched a hellfire blast at them.
The Ashborn exchanged a quick glance and directed their hands towards the incoming fireball. Four fiery tongues protruded from their index fingers and shot out at the projectile. Soon the tongues enveloped the fireball, wrapping around it several times...and split it in four parts.
Each shard of the hellish fireball flew to the mages' hands, pulled by the flaming lashes. Once the fingers touched these shards, the hands of the Ashborn became engulfed with the crackling fiery energy that was conjured by Xavier. A fleeting moment of peace ensued between the combatants, and then the Ashborn flung the energy, now shaped into infernal gouts, from their hands back at the insane dwarf.
When the fire licked Xavier's skin, the warmth enveloped his body. The sweet embrace of the flame soothing Xavier in every sense of the word. For a moment, he felt peace...
Then soul-shattering pain.
Oh, but the soul of Xavier was already non-existent! The wall of fire consumed Xavier into its fiery breast, barely overshadowing the screams the emanated from within!
When the fire succeeded, the Ashborn thought their deed was done. An enemy vanquished. A foe deceased. But a body rose from the ashes...
The pain was unbearable for the poor being. The fire burned the flesh. Melted it away from his weary skin! Oh, the humanity! But, fortunately, the pain subsided, but sith all nothing, senses, and though. For a moment, Xavier was truly dead. Only for a split second. But the spirits, they would have none of that! Not at all! The spirits in all their wisdom and mockery revived the dwarf, complete with the original body and all. All death, and all wounds, will forever be healed. It was but a blessing and a curse. Xavier was immortal, but with all the pain that came with it. Furthermore, Xavier could not escape his destiny, if he ever so desired.
A person does not feel the revival happening to him. It is as if the person was waking from a dream, one minuet awake, darkness for an immeasurable time, then up as if no time has past at all.
And so he did arise from the ashes of himself. The ashborn stood in awe of such a being. Surely he was not human. Surely he was of no race. He was a thing. An it. And it could not be killed.
And Xavier stood. Laughing. Laughing at their frailty. At their wasted attempt. And yet the dark black cloak called sin enveloped them, and a holy raged bellowed from within.
Xavier picked up a stone. It was an ordinary stone. Round and smooth. One you would find anywhere. Xavier picked it up, and squeezed it. Hard. Until blood was oozing from his hand. The more it hurt, the more he laughed. The blood coated the stone, and soaked into it. Suddenly the stone turned brighter. As bright as the sun. It radiated, and radiated.
Xavier threw the rock. Simply threw it. And for a flash, the cloak of sin vanished, and Xavier saw he was fighting only men. Men with homes and children. Men with a wife and family. And the stone; it was not holy light. It was not bright as the sun. It was dark and cold. Evil infested this very thing. It was no longer good. It was no longer nature. It was corrupted. Twisted. And it could never be changed.
But the scene changed again. The cloaks returned, and the rock was a holy beacon of light. So he threw. And threw it he did. With a force only a demon can muster. A force at which only the spirits can propel. And he threw it. Right at one of the men. |

Such folly. Didn't he try that already?
Suddenly, a stone from the heavens crashed in front of Xavier, caused him to step back. Fire swirled around it, anxiously awaiting its next victim.
The fire licked Xavier's skin. Although it did not matter, he truly did not wish to die again. Such a strange feeling, it is.
A charred leave flew by Xavier's skull. It was the most beautiful thing he had ever saw in his life. Its delicacy. Its mortality, slowly fading away as the fire climbed its veins.
In a reflex, Xavier grabbed the leaf, and threw it towards the meteor, now on the ground, moving closer to him. In the second that he held on, the darkness in side him, oh the corrupting darkness, surged through the plant. It glowed with a innocent, but malicious, black.
And when two objects collided, the magic happened. When the leaf touched the rock, when the rock touched the leaf, who won? The rock, certainly! Nay! Nay! This was no ordinary leaf! When they collided, energy cracked, time seemed to stop, and from the ground, a large tree sprouted, all withing a few seconds. It sprouted, adult and all, and impaled the rock. It absorbed the fire, and within a few more seconds, in was not the fiery spell it once was!
Now, some will ask, "What does the tree look like?" already thinking that it was dark and dead. No! No it was not! The tree, it was alive! The tree, leaves it had! The tree, flowers did grow, and butterflies, yes, they did fly! But, as with everything, there was a catch.
They were darkness. Darkness was them. The entire entity was but shadow. Physical shadow. It pulsated darkness. You could see it flow! As if it 'twas a dark liquid flowing through the shadows!
Time stood still. Figuratively, of course. There was but a passing silence. Xavier stood, hair being blown by a mysterious wind, while the man, the silly man, fumbled onto the ground in awe. One of his most precious spells, defeated! His friend, gone! And soon his own life will be snuffed out as well!
In a flash, without movement, Xavier appear before the man. He scooted backwards, thinking that he could get away! But no, the man was hopeless. Finished. There was nothing anyone could do for him now.
"You stepped out of your bounds, mortal. This I will not tolerate. Come, Mr. Stoneman."
The great body of the petrified man began to arose. His body creaked and crumbled a bit, but, it was soon able to achieve proper footing. It was just like the original man, except it could not speak, think, or process emotions. A defining feature, however, was the eyes. The eyes, they were but a crimson red.
Mr. Stoneman stood by Xavier, and looked down the the poor ashborn. He was speechless. He could not call Xavier a fiend, nor did he try to call our to his lost friend. The fear, in this case, was but too great.
"Finish him. Let him perish by a former ally."
And with that, the stone figure descended upon the man, ready to bash his head on the ground.
