Brutus sat quiet, he was waiting, and waiting. These propositions were meaningless, trade routes and technology won't save anyone, his nation fell, like the childlike tower it was. The technology they had possessed was like the collective's is now, but that didn't matter then, it didn't. Matter. Now. These nations sat here and delegated, trade, technology and Brutus simply knew that it would only be inevitable for their fall, for if his olympus, his pinnacle of a nation had fallen, his gods among men, his very ancestors...if they had fallen in a few hours, then these nations had no chance. He knew this and would stand by it...but he remembered something. Conyr. He was the hope that was still in Brutus. Conyr had been a feral once, and was cured. Brutus felt like an even bigger fool than before. He knew Conyr was the savior of this plane, that's why his god's had given Conyr to Brutus. Brutus was a protector, and Conyr was to be protected. His god's hadn't died. Not like he had once believed. Brutus smiled under the helm, there was hope for the world, and when he realized that, he realized something else... Trade routes would be needed for the new world that was to be made by these nations around him, maybe Olympus had fallen, but it seemed a new pantheon would rise in its place. |

"Representatives of Diyad, do you take a similar stance to that of the Collective? Or do you wish to freely distribute the technology?"
Alixenus went through a tumult of feelings as he awaited the response of this so called secret council. He was eager to have their knowledge and technology for his own, to bring untold prosperity and magic to his homeland. But the thought of owing so much to a foreign power, especially one that had made him feel so small, sickened him. He also feared what impact this 'modernisation' would have upon Venezzian society. Would it carry on as before? Would the feudal structure remain intact? and what about their culture? Their economy? Their honour?
Was this even the right path of Venezzia? He remembered the moment he fired on Thanatos back in the badlands. The bolt had almost reached his flesh. It wouldn't take much to retool crossbows of every size to be more powerful. But he couldn't be sure that Venezzia could be made equal in every respect if they stuck to the old ways. But above all, would the common man be happier catching fish himself, or using a machine to catch many orders more than he could? |

Achyr Solaran looks back to Halvedes, who somewhat reluctantly nods in approval. Achyr stands before the other Alixenus and responds. There was a difference between him and the the other council members. He was a man of the people. Before Thanatos, he was a mere drunk. Why the future king saw so much in him remained a mystery. They were best friends, almost like brothers. He was still affected by the loss. So much pain in his heart. When he spoke, he spoke not with the air of a man in power, but with that of a common man, a citizen, those who make society.
" Thanatos had long ago planned to open foreign relations. I remember him telling me that kinship is one of the most important tools one has. He chose Venezzia to be the place of meeting, for many Diyadians are descendants of Venezzians long ago. He told me about the books he had as a child, how infatuated he was with your culture. No matter how many eras came and went, Venezzia retained its culture, its beauty. These were some of his last wishes before death. However I personally agree with him. Diyad plans to provide all of its knowledge to other nations. This includes science, history, mathematics, technology, and most important our knowledge of alkhemistry. All we ask for in return, resources. Alkhemistry is very useful for the most practical needs, but iyo is required to amplify one's ability to utilize it. Iyo however is deadly to all but Diyadians, and giants. Our alkhemists are reaching a breakthrough. We can make iyo safe for all to use, but to do it we need materials from other lands, for our own are already affected by iyo. This proposal mostly goes to Lucia, who we hope will provide us with most of what we need. Anything helps though. Can the nations excluding the Collective accept this?" |

Alixenus couldn't help but recoil at the suggestion that the Diyadians were Venezzia's children. He couldn't believe it, he wouldn't it just defied belief. How can it be that Iyo had put them so far ahead? Yes, it gave them Alkhemistry and their unique adamantium, but why had Venezzia not developed giant Baloons and the like? And were they sure they were from Venezzia? There were other centres of Humanity in Dustia, admittedly either barbarous pirate dens or hill tribes, but still human. If what they said was true, then Venezzia was the sole source of all human civilisation in the known world.
Now, Alixenus would've like nothing better than to run down to the Archives and comb the scrolls for any reference of the badlands. But he had a conference to mediate. A mere look at the Chamberlain sent Scribes, Secretaries and Scholars rushing out of the room to investigate these, amazing, impossible claims. |

OOC Official stance of Venezzia is to consider Alkhemistry magic until we have a better understanding of it. Feel free to start an information sharing agreement with Diyad Mr. M'kron.
"Venezzia is always willing to offer our expertise and resources for the sake of trade. Whatever you need, as long as you offer a fair price, you shall have it. Would anyone else like to trade with Diyad? I am sure that we can figure out a way for us to provide them with something each and recieve some of their foreign magicks in return." The few remaining Venezzian scribes quietly moved to their Diyadian counterparts to begin drafting basic trade agreements. |

"Brutus has something to offer." A few diplomats looked at him, but some didn't care. "Brutus' nation has special ore. Stronger than adamantium. And many warriors. We help find necromancer." A few more diplomats looked up at him now. "But, nation crawling with fe- unliving. And Brutus hasn't been home in years. Hard to remember lay of land."he lost some again. Delegating was hard, especially when half the people here thought he was some moronic bruiser. He didin't care if someone took him up on his offer he'd be in their debt, but he would hope each land would at least send a single solider with him. He wasn't sure what to expect from this, he had a tendency to butt into conversations, he just hoped that this time his proposal wasn't shut down by the other nations, especially since he was the only example these people had of his nation. He could only hope. |

Achyr Solaran has a grateful expression. He thought to himself about things the king had told him. This was his first time meeting outsiders. He could not believe how much these people were just like Diyadians. Their kindess and willingness more than shocked him.
" Thank you all for your generous offers, Diyad is very grateful and with all you are providing, we could make iyo available to all within the next half season. We are most intrigued however by your words dear giant. Due to iyo our adamantium is much stronger than the kind found elsewhere. But if this material you speak of is naturally stronger, this would indeed due more than repay us for what we are offering. I'm not sure if you heard me earlier, but iyo is not dangerous to giants. We know this for long ago Diyadians and giants shared our land. The nation was saddened when they began leaving the continent during the last century. Brutus we would be more than happy to aid you in your endeavors, as a giant you are already valued as kin."
OOC: And thank you Alixenus. Honestly I've been waiting to pop that one up since I rolled my character. Also Galrick Alixenus is right, if you want to know about Alkhemistry you'll have to wait. I did say I would share the knowledge with all nations. |

From a distant continent, shrouded in volcanic ash and water mists, several ships made from solidified lava sailed to the Badlands. Once they arrived, one man, draped in a crimson and brown attire, stepped from his ship onto the dead ground. His skin looked grey with orange-glowing cracks, and his eyes were burning with bright flames. He spelled an incantation, augmented his voice, and spoke, his words reverberating across the entire continent of Dustia.
"Greetings, dwellers of this land! I am Nexhawk, the Fiery Lord, the Hawk of Burning Death, the Emperor of the Warlocks of the Ashflame. My people, the Ashborn, come to your land in time of need. After a long and exhausting war with our long-time rivals, the Hydromancers, our continent, Praecantaria, has been flooded, forcing us to flee and sail our ships here. We will settle our first colony here, in these dead lands, because they suit our organisms in a best way possible. Thus the nation of Ardorium will be created, becoming our first home since the expulsion from Praecantaria. I hope that our relations with you, nations of this continent, will be of friendship and union, but be warned; all those who stand in our way will end their lives in doomed hell. I am looking forward to our negotiations and will expect your ambassadors soon enough." ___________________________________________________________________________________________________
Nation: Ardorium People: The Ashborn Location: Badlands Strengths: Fire magic (if magic is allowed, I promise to try not to come up with anything OP), dead/ash lands (no vegetation), advantage against mechanisms. Weaknesses: Water, vegetation-filled lands, snowy mountains.

The Scorched Lavania however is unclaimed and seems perfect for your nation. The game is now more player-centric than nation-centric. So like I said check the index and try to catch up on recent events. Glad to finally see a new nation arrive to Dustia. |

OOC: I see and apologize for the inconvenience. I tried to follow the index, but there seemed to me too much content; moreover, I later figured that a new people on the continent shouldn't know much about the history, since we are arriving only now. And "Unclaimed Badlands" confused me as well.
Once again, sorry about that, I will settle on Scorched Lavania and will edit my post accordingly. And can our characters still be the rulers of the nations, or should we be just members of it? |

OOC: Thanks for clarifying! Now, since I'm the ruler of a newly arrived nation... //End of OOC
As Nexhawk oversaw the construction of his first settlement on Lavania, a thought pierced his mind. He murmured several words, and his augmented voice echoed over Dustia once more.
"I would also like for any ruler on this continent to speak with me on the aspect of history of this land. You see, it would be much beneficial to know what is going on around here, but, unfortunately, my men have no way of knowing the geography of this place, thus causing our exploration of these waters to last for months, at the very least."
Nexhawk cleared his throat and continued. "Therefore, I urge you to make contact, since you should know much better how to reach the land we are settling in. My hopes are that next time I will speak to any member of your nations directly." |

Conyr heard Nexhawk's disembodied voice as if this "Hawk of Burning Death" was standing right next to him.
All around him, the assembly was confused and shocked, turning around and looking at each other, trying to determine the source of the voice.
"After a long and exhausting war..."
Conyr sighed. Whereever this voice was coming from, it told tales of battle. Conyr didn't understand. Why did so many fight?
Vyzion would know.
But Conyr shook his head. There was no Vyzion to explain to him in riddles. Not today, not ever again.
"... in these dead lands, because they suit our organisms..."
Conyr knew so little about the world. All he knew was his jungle home. Dustia was like a faceless friend, and Conyr couldn't seem to communicate. He wanted to be able to understand.
"... beneficial to know what is going on around here..."
Conyr laughed. This voice, apparently, could be heard by everyone. The whole of Venezzia was still, quiet. All the delegates recovered from their shock and were now listening intently. Scribes and reporters were jotting down notes furiously.
So a voice that everyone could here, which must possess some supernatural power, is asking us what is going on? Conyr chuckled softly as the voice continued.
"My hopes are that next time, I will speak to a member of any of your nations directly."
Silence. Everyone looked at each other, not knowing what to say.
Conyr walked over to Brutus.
"Brutus, my friend. I must go. Do not try to find me."
Brutus looked at Conyr, confused and hurt. "Why, Conyr?"
"I can't explain now. I just have a feeling; I must leave. Promise me that you won't try find me."
"I..." The giant was at a lost for words.
"If all goes well," Conyr began, not waiting for Brutus to finish.
"If all goes well.. I will see you again."
And with that he sprinted out of the gallery, out of Venezzia, and away. |

Nexhawk sttod on a large hill and observed the construction of Spodium, the first city of the Ashborn since the flight from devastated Praecantaria. He looked around as cone-shaped buildings made from lava and obsidian rose among the ash wastes and smelled tiny cinders in the air, which reminded him of home his people were deprived of long ago. Painful memories flooded Nexhawk's mind, as his gaze turned to the events of his last day on Praecantaria... ___________________________________________________________________________________________________
Veneficus stood up and proclaimed in anger, "We have to turn the tide of the war now!"
The Council of Ashflame was gathered once again in the Core, the giant sphere serving as the capital of Abismonus, this time to determine the course of action in the ever-going war against the Hydromancers. The Council was divided; half of its members claimed that the front had to be pushed further into the enemy lands, thus gaining the initiative. Their main reasoning consisted of recent scout reports that stated a large gathering of Water Conjurers near the northern border of Abismonus, right next to the main battlefront.
Nexhawk, among other half of the Council, was willing to strengthen the borders and continue trying to repel the invading forces. He got on his feet and said, looking straight at Veneficus, "And what will your push bring us? Can you assure that our mages will not be defeated the first moment they step into the enemy lands? I can tell you that this will most likely happen. Right now everything we can do is send more men to the border, thus increasing our chanced to gain victory and send Hydromancers back."
Another member, Ignatus, sprang to his feet and pointed at Nexhawk. "Why don't we just give them what they are vying for? The artefact is useless for every nation on this continent, there is no other half here! Just hand them over the cursed item and be done with it!"
Nexhawk swiftly ran toward Ignatus and grabbed the smaller man. "How dare you..."
At the same time, something in the air felt amiss.
Strange apprehension filled the Council members. Nexhawk released Igantus and rushed to the exit, all other warlocks trailing after him.
When they went outside, entire Abismonus sprawled in their view, for it was located in the valley beneath the Core. And there, at the northern border... Something grand was happening.
At that moment, the large group of Hydromancers scouts told about formed a circle. All of them raised their hands and sang an incantation, causing the air to tremble with the power of their voices.
The earth started to crack.
The whole continent of Praecantaria was splitting in half right along the line of the battlefront. And from the fissure, a tremendous wave rose and loomed ominously over Abismonus.
Nexhawk watched the rising water in terror and realised he could do nothing. His people, despite having magical powers, did not possess the gift of clairvoyance, thus being unable to witness neither past nor future. And now they would pay dearly for not foreseeing this event.
As the gigantic wave started rolling across Abismonus, Nexhawk quickly created the barrier of flame, shielding himself and the Core. He shouted to other members of the Council to channel the spell with him in order to increase the intensity. Meanwhile, everyone watched hopelessly as the Abismonus was being flooded. The cities of obsidian were washed and destroyed momentarily by the wave; the ever-burning fires of their country were doused by the conjured water.
When the wave passed around the shielded Core and plunged into the mountains to the south of Abismonus, the entire nation was in ruins. The ashlands turned into dead swamps, and the air was filled with poisonous water vapour. There was no hope for the people that could not be shielded by Nexhawk's spell. He observed sorrowfully the destruction left in the wave's wake, and anger shook him as he saw Hydromancers stepping on his lands.
They will not get what they are coming for.
Nexhawk ordered his fellow warlocks to cast a spell sending the Core flying to the western coast. The other men did not object, for his leadership was accepted with respect immediately. Once the Core was hanging above the water, the obsidian-made ships were lowered down, and Nexhawk, along with former members of the now dispersed Council and other survivors, looked gloomily in the direction of their destroyed nation. He could only hope the Ashborn would find a new home soon enough. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________
Something interrupted Nexhawk's trail of painful memories. He felt the air shimmer with magic, but it was not of his kind. Nexhawk closed his eyes and concentrated, probing the surroundings with his magical senses. Soon enough, he felt a powerful being that would soon set foot upon the island of Lavania. And with that, a sudden realisation stroke him.
He is coming. |

" Oh, a nation using primarily magick! This reminds me of another important proposal from Diyad. Education remains Diyad's highest priority. Although we have already agreed to share our knowledge, we would like to open universities in other nations. We propose to establish a University of Alkhemistry. On another note, as a joint project, we wish to collaborate with other nations to gather all arcane knowledge to establish a University of Magick. With the threat of an Archnecromancer we find it important that all nations learn about magick, and hopefully learn to utilize it. Of course we are aware of the Collective's weakness to magick so this does not apply to them, for magick can only be counteracted by magick. |

Brutus felt saddened. Why must everyone he know leave him? Either while they live or while life gets snuffed out. Sadness like many other things was greater than in humans. He didn't care about these pyromancer's or hydromancer's , he was strating to hate every "mancer" hither and to. They only seemed to bring pain, to each other and to others. "Brutus going for walk. If any one want find me, yell name." Brutus didn't think any one WOULD look for him, he figured since even Conyr was leaving him now. Brutus ducked under the door and lumbered out. He didn't know what he was doing or what he was looking for or anything really. Promise me that you you wont't try to find me. Brutus was torn, the last person he promised was his daughter...promise me you won't let anything happen to me papaand she was dead. Her life...her future snuffed out in an instant. And she was his family, even by her when she parished, but Conyr told him not to follow him, and every fiber of his being told him he needed to follow his young friend, but he wouldn't, he was too weak...Brutus was too WEAK.FOR.THIS.WORLD! No ,tater where he went no matter what he did people sided around him, like he was a plague on life, a siphon for happiness. He hated the necromancer for taking his family, he hated the feral's for destroying his world, making it crumble around him like some toy of a child, smashed to bits... But he hated himself the most, for losing his family, for leaving all the living, for being a nuisance to the people he cared about. He hated his giant body, he wished he could be his relatively human self again. He remembered those days fondly, he was still large for a human, six feet and eight inches, but that was simply above average where he came from. Being a some unknown part giant on his mothers side. All the people of his nation were part giant, over the years giants had smaller and smaller children, when the offspring were human enough, about seven foot they started to interbreed with humans, that was hundreds of years ago, and soon enough giants and humans were nearly indistinguishable, but then war broke out among the continent. Weapons strong enough to destroy cities, weapons that created the most painful wounds know. Dark times, before Brutus was born. Protectors were created, after the wars. The process was long and excruciating, Brutus still remembered it. Then Brutus realized that he had walked out of the city. He was on his knee's in the middle of a field looking west, far west. Tears were on his face, he could feel the warm salty water on his face. He looked around for anyone. No soul was around him. Brutus stood up and shook his head. Forgive your self, my love. It wasn't Brutus' voice in his head, it was his wife's. "You died, because Brutus couldn't protect you. How can Brutus forgive self?" He was crying again, tears of joy because of her voice, and sadness because he knew she wasn't there. You tried. You tried to save us, and you protected us, me, your son and your daughter. You protected as well as you could. "But didn't save you. Brutus tried so hard to give good life. And life was taken from you. From me." You couldn't have saved us my love. It was our time. We maybe dead but you live. You must save our people. You must guide them. "But Brutus is one man. Not a ruler. How can I save them?" He was broken down again. You can save them Brutus. But you must find how. You will not be alone...we will always be with you. Brutus was alone again. His wife had left him again. His shame flowed with sadness. He buried his face in his hands. Brutus cried until his head hurt. He knew what had to be done now. And he hoped he would have the strength for his trials ahead. "Brutus will save them, for you. For our daughter... For all of them. Brutus promise." He stood up and started to walk back to the city. A new hope instilled in his heart. He was ready for his journey home. He just hoped he didn't have to go alone. |

Vektor being quirky and obsessed with education is obviously displeased by this rejection, but satisfied with his offer nonetheless.
"Fine then! I accept your terms, but you don't know what you're missing brother! You can never have too much knowledge! I see I didn't elaborate earlier. What I meant was that there seems to be no way that a nonorganic being could possibly harness magick or protect themselves from it. It is indeed possible to combat someone who possesses it. Does anyone else want to take up our proposal. Any arcane knowledge could help us establish our own University of Magick.
As he makes his way back into Venezzia Brutus is passes by a large flying ship surrounded by Diyadian soldier, alkhemists and representatives. The group seems to be having a problem with ship repair. They immediately forget this after one of the worker notices the giant. Grown men and women are reduced to bubbly children in awe of the sight of an actual giant. They begin to crowd around him asking him if he was a real giant. It would seem that Diyadians are naturally fond of giants. Their history may be more deep that Achyr had let on. One of the workers approached Brutus.
"Excuse me kind fellow. Do you think you could help us with a matter of importance. You see our ship is damaged, those large rubber tubes over there have been torn and that huge gear has fallen off. Our more elite alkhemists are too busy protecting the council members, and we are not strong enough yet to manipulate such large objects. Would you be so kind as to help us fix our ship, for we would be eternally grateful." |

Reanimation. Reanimation. An interesting subject, is it not? To animate, or make alive, previously nonliving things. Such as statues or brooms. This was what Xavier was reading. He... absorbed the knowledge. The incantations. The spells. The name's of warlocks who were prominent in this field of magic. All of this most most certainly fascinating to Xavier. But as he read, he seemed to feel something. A gnawing in his brain. A gnawing that numbed all the six senses he possessed: touch, taste, sight, smell, and hearing. The book was taking it away. It was taking away his sanity. If he kept this up, he would not go to the next assembly. He would be writhing in his twisted mind, forever succumbed to the book.
And then he felt something. Heard something. The Collective mumbled something of not modernizing nations, the Dyads mumbled about trade routs, but the mumbling stopped. A voice was heard. It said that he was a Pyromancer, a refugee from his homeland that was destroyed by the hydromancers.
A civil war! What could I gain from this, hm? Power? Alliances? Research? Data? Science? I need the Collective's technology though. Though those wondrous breakthroughs, the research provided by the hydro and the pyromancers will be invaluable. Also, tomes. Magicks. A great benefit to my study!
Thanatos 716 wrote:The council discusses among themselves and call a group of Diyadian soldiers and other representatives. The men and women quickly scuttle out of the Gallery and make way for a flying ship. The council announces that they have sent their second fastest ship to arrive at Lavania in two and a half days to make cotact with this new nation. The third member of the council, a tall man with a long grey beard and glasses stands up. He introduces himself as Vektor Gaius, lead Alkhemist of Diyad
Xavier stands.
"I will be happy to capitalize on your offer, Vektor! Knowledge is a valuable thing! You cannot have enough of it! Now of course, more detailed discussions will be arranged via closed doors, but I will be happy to invite Alkhemists to Lucia."
He continues.
"Concerning the Archnecromancer, I do hope you give up on your search. He does not exist, and if he is as powerful as you say he is, I think it is best if we leave him be."

Nexhawk was sitting on his throne in the recently built Grand Hall of Spodium and pondering about the person whose presence he felt so profoundly.
The trace of his magic could not be mistaken for anything. Whoever that person might be, his powers are strong, maybe rivalling those of my own. But here, on this new land? The scholars of Praecantaria did not find any other sources of magic on the entire world... Then who is he?
Nexhawk looked up, struck by a revelation, his fiery eyes wide open. Could he be... one of the Exiled? The notion seems quite possible; no one knows where they went after being sent away... In that case, the question would be: How many of them are here?
Somehow, through an untraceable series of vague musings, thoughts whirling in Nexhawk's head took a different course.
Hydromancers, those monsters! Catching us unprepared and wiping out almost an entire nation just like that... not even because of the enmity, but just for one little item that is right now useless to everyone! And they didn't even manage to get it... This deed, which has caused many lives of the Ashborn to be lost for nothing, must be met with justice!
Nexhawk looked around the room, his fists now clenching with anger, and his eyes burning with deep hatred.
Maybe, whichever nations reside here could potentially help... No, it can't be possible, for the shroud of Praecantaria repels everyone who was not attuned to magic on the continent itself. Unless, of course, every living being on this land was born there, which is most unikely...
At that time, his thoughts were interrupted as Veneficus entered the Hall. Both men walked towards each other and clasped their hands. Nexhawk smiled and greeted Veneficus, "Thank you for coming, my friend."
Veneficus replied warmly, "It is my honor, Nexhawk. Now, what did you call me for?"
Nexhawk started pacing the room. "I ask you to send two ships to explore this new land. Let them sail in different directions in order to learn more about the territory and its nations." He turned to Veneficus and suggested, "Order the phoenix handlers to provide two eggs for each expedition in order to keep contact between themselves and Spodium."
Veneficus nodded, "Will do", and headed to the door. At the exit, though, he turned around and knowingly gazed at Nexhawk. "You think the other half is here?"
Nexhawk grinned, "I do. Something tells me we will find it among these lands. I may be mistaken, of course, but it never hurts to search."
After Veneficus left, Nexhawk sat back on his throne and protruded an object from one of his belt pouches. It was a golden hemisphere decorated with ancient markings that glowed with a light blue color. Nexhawk admired the handiwork, traced one of the symbols with his finger, and placed the object back into the pouch.
OOC: So, basically, the nations of Praecantaria created a barrier in order to isolate themselves from "mortals", who do not wield magic, and their affairs, potentially due to some events in the continent's ancient history. Also, could it be that Dustia is home to another half of the secret artifact in Nexhawk's possession? |

OOC: I was under the impression that the world is called Dustia. Dustia is not a single continent. Or at least I'm pretty sure... |

OOC: Oh, my apologies for the misunderstanding. Apparently, I misread some earlier posts, my bad.
I meant the main continent next to the Scorched Lavania. Also, are Lavania and Badlands considered continents as well, or are they large islands? |

I believe these landmasses are indeed full continents. Might take you a while to populate the whole thing. |

OOC: I imagine. And is there a set name for the central continent? Couldn't find it anywhere. Great, finally the Ashborn will receive some answers. |

No name actually. You have Lavania, I have the Badlands, which is called Diyad, The Logipriest nation is really war torn and scavengers generally roam that area now. Besides that the middle continent has yet to receive a name. |

OOC: Do I understand correctly that, of all Logipriests, only Conyr is on the central continent? Are all other Logipriests in their jungle home? |
