Walking several steps, Nexhawk finally reached Thanatos' unconscious body. He kneeled before the fallen Diyadian and listened intently for any signs of life. The latter was breathing, albeit almost silently, and yet the Fiery Lord did not know how to help him. He had quite a few restorative spells in his arsenal, but all of them worked only on other Ashborn and would only harm those whose blood is not, essentially, liquid fire.
So he decide to get the Diyadian king out of there. Surely, Nexhawk would've most likely stood on his own against the golems conjured by the Void, but leaving Thanatos where he was for any more time was dangerous. The Ashborn called the two Phoenixes that were now circling above the collapsed platform. With some effort, he managed to get Thanatos sitting firmly on one of the Phoenixes and then mounted Fel'ir himself. The two creatures hovered in the air and soared towards their allies, flying over the sea of hulking monsters. |

OOC: SANDROMIN HAS AWAKENED! BEGIN THE MIRACULOUS DEED OF WALKING INTO MORDOR! Now, on a more serious note: Waiting for others to appear at Arteum. Meanwhile, I will introduce a short pseudo-filler arc.
Then, as Sandromin oversaw everything, he decided it was time to begin his typical meditation within the Kalter grove, under the water falls. Although he had learned much from the One, there was much more to learn; in fact, the One had told him he must dwell on these facts, and what better place than the great birthplace of the Sand nation?
So, it was there that Sandromin began his meditation, and into the depths of his mind he went...
At first, it was dark... then, a blinding brightness appeared. The heat swooped in around Sandromin, giving a subtle warmth at first, followed by a heat unbearable to all but the Sandmen...
He looked around, but he was not at the Kalter forests as before; rather, he was in the ruins of an unknown nation of the sands...
OOC: Don't feel like typing more atm. I'll continue this mini-arc later... |

OOC: * A desperate hand claws its way from the shadowy abyss that is procrastination and reaches for the keyboard at his desk...*
For a moment Thanatos could only barely feel the vibrations in the ground. He tried desperately to pull himself back into consciousness, yet the harder he tried the more it slipped away. The last thing he felt was his body being pulled from the ground. Blackness, blackness and silence. Only blackness and silence. But wait, there was something else. A small light... and then another, and another then billions more. All illuminating their own corners of the ether. They were stars. Deep within the cosmos was an entity sitting upon a throne, floating without direction. It was the Reaper, with his cold steel mask. Surrounded by a plethora of floating ethereal orbs, souls. Not the silver ones seen now. These were multiple different colors, like a vast rainbow. All crowding the Reaper in the throne, speaking to him, confiding to him, asking him questions. Like a loving father he listened and responded, but in a language a mortal could never comprehend. Cut to blackness once more... Then once again brought back to the Reaper, this time with the souls floating across the infinite space like an endless river. Next to him was a young girl, or at least what appeared to be. In actuality what seemed to be a 14 year old girl was now several thousand years old. She stared curiously at the glowing light that shone through the eyes of his mask, while he gazed out into the cosmos. She had asked him a question, and he answered in a perplexed tone.
"What do you think of me?"
"What would you mean by that?"
"You know! Your opinion of me?"
"... I think you do excellent work in guiding mortals along their path. Leading them to through their lives, to me. Although there is know doubt that they still fear and despise me, it... pleases me to know that such a young goddess is capable of achieving so much in such a sort time. You've brought about some of the finest artisans, scientists, nations and heroes that I've seen in my long existence. Time is definitely dealing with a talented individual. So I guess you could say I'm... impressed by you. Does that answer your question"
"...Not really, I guess maybe a little. You did say I impress you."
The Reaper chuckled.
That damn blackness again... Where on Dustia am I right now?
Meanwhile within the Palace of Stars the Elder God Fate sits on her throne. Looking down upon the New God, Void.
"Are you sure that you did as I asked?"
"Of course M'Lady, as we speak my golems are battling for Kathage. If they push hard enough they might cause some real damage."
"What of the pyromancer?"
"Everything went accordingly. He fell for every trap I devised. I've baited fools with words before, but never in brutal combat. That feeling, that energy was so... so refreshing. However there were some unexpected occureences."
"Unexpected?"
"Yes, it would seem that the worthless king, whose name I shant utter, has accessed some hidden power."
"You are wise not to speak his name... About this power, this rids me of any doubt I've had before, he's tempered his soul. So has Sandromin, by way of Freedom. This means they can slay gods now..."
"Interesting that you mentioned that name. The other odd thing that happened was something that the pyromancer did. He seemed to summon the power of a particular god, one that I was told you disposed of."
"Impossible! I cast Freedom into the Oblivion. He IS gone! Unless... somehow he's left part of himself with the pyromancer."
"My apologies in advance, but isn't this the second time you've done something like this? Haven't they all come back in some form. Perhaps the Oblivion doesn't eliminate gods, like you once believed. I mean first it was De---"
"ENOUGH! I WILL NOT SAY THIS AGAIN! YOU WILL NOT QUESTION ME! YOU WILL NOT DOUBT ME, AND YOU WILL NOT MENTION THEM!"
"My apologies again. I shall make sure to know my place, now and forever. Let me ease your anger with more good news. Not only did I absorb the powers of Nexhawk, but also the bolt from Freedom. I have far more power then we'd hoped."
Fate let's out an impish smile
"That does ease my anger actually. This means you could use Freedom's power to match any other Godslayers that may exist. And with Nexhawk's scorching power like I'd planned you can still---"
"Upset the sun and erase Dustia?... Indeed."

Frost did several things when he finally reached the city of tents. The first was he fell to the ground unconscious. The second thing he did was wake up in a medical tent with a cast around abdomen. The third was get up out of the tent against orders and find Reta. And after he found her and had a touching reunion he did something that finally made sense to him. He proposed to Reta. And the few people who were around him, the medics who kept pleasing for him to rest, Danya and even Reta were suprised by the sudden marriage proposal. Not because frost and Reta were young, it was common place for such actions considering the high rate of death. The request was odd because for one frost had several broken ribs and many bruises. Secondly he was a ranger and rangers were expected to have the highest mortality rate of all the professions. And thirdly because immediately after rest said yes frost smiled and again fell into the void he so welcomed. Frost wasn't sure where he was in his dream. But he knew he was dreaming. The sky was lit an unnatural electric blue color. And the air smelled strange. He couldn't put his finger on what it smelled of but it wasn't right. "Hello young Adryan!" A high woman's voice called from behind him. Frost turned to see the strange being. "And how are you feeling?" The being asked in a young girls voice now. A small giggle escaped from the cloaked thing. "I have broken ribs. And I believe I'm knocked out. Other than that....I'm alright." "Good, good." An old man now spoke to him. "We have much to speak of." The being seemed to find a voice they liked, since it didn't diverge from the old mans. "I suppose we do." Frost was rather annoyed that he couldn't just be unconscious in peace. But the being had not been wrong yet. He figured he would atleast be civil. "So you made it back to your city in peace. And you found the survivors of the cities death grip. Yet...you can tell something's wrong can't you?" "The world shaker didn't rise. And I haven't seen any of the hordes of ferals that we saw in the city." "And you're bothered by that? Shouldn't you be excited?" "Well...call me skeptic. I figure that if they haven't shown up yet then...maybe they're buying their time." "Good eye, Adryan!" "Good eye? So you know something's gonna happen? You knew all this oils happen?" Frost was starting to get angry this damn... THING was toying with him. "Tell me what to do! Tell me how to stop it!" The being shook its head. "Sorry...but I'm no prophet. I see possibilities and right now...." The being let out a sad sigh. "It looks like the only forces that can help are scattered. So unfortunately, you have a very small possibility to win. One is on their way here though. One is off in his own lands. All the others are fighting a battle that is quite...extraordinary." "No. No. You, you have to help!" "Sorry Adryan." The being just shrugged. "Good luck. Is all I can say. I wish I could help you more but. I cannot. " "Wait! Please...don't..." And before frost could finish his sentence the being disappeared and blackness engulfed him. The next thing frost knew he was sitting up breathing shallow breathes in a cot. Several people surrounded him. "...good...you're...still...alive..."the shade said slowly. "Well... You certainly know how to make an entrance don't you Adryan?" Cairn said to his friend. "Yeah. I guess." "Welll at least you're back now frost. Good thing too, since we need more rangers patrolling the barricade." "I'm not gonna be doing that for a while. At least not until I talk to the commanders." "Why's that?" Frost was silent for a second. "Because soon we're going have a war soon." |

More seriously, I think you should high power jets of water. If you do, you should be able to erode rock and whatever is beneath the flesh.

Slowly, the flames that engulfed Halvedes' thralls began to subside, so too did their imitation of panic. Through the smoke and steam they emerged, appearing even more derranged and twisted as the charred remains of skin and sinew hung to stone and steel. The wounded had been carried well away whilst the few men that remained fired everything they had at theor foes. Ballista fire seemed by far the most effective; either tearing great holes in their targets or carrying them through the walls. But the ammunition began to run low and the monsters, as if as one, began move with greater speed and starting throwing rubble and bolts at the siege engines. Alixenus made the only decision he could in that situation. He called retreat. The men all ran for their lives through the streams and gullies that were, but a brief time ago, Karthages' streets. The entire city sounded as if it were in uproar. The streets were deserted. Stalls abandoned. Carts overturned. The in the small world of the pursuit, the men could hear only their own breathing, the splash of their footfalls and the thunder of the monsters' lumpen limbs. The men scrambled across a narrow footbridge, tripping over abandoned Iyo containers [OOC: Or something equally explosive if Iyo can't be contained in this way Thanatos]. Alixenus paused here and stared at the containers for a moment before dragging them onto the bridge. Every other man continued running save for Kaltedes who realised what Alixenus was planning. He ran over and helped to stack up more of the Iyo.
"Can these be lit with fire?" "Of a sorts Lord" with that Kaltedes lit a torch with Alkhemistry. A blue flame danced about it in the rain as he handed to Alixenus. "Can we pour some out as a fuse?" "I am unsure, [OOC neither am I BTW]" "Do you have anything we can use as such?" "No Lord" The thunder of the hooves of the living became ever louder. "Alright Kaltedes, open some of these containers, then we'll back away under the cover of that building. With luck I can land this torch in one of them"
A few moments later, the wall of Stone and Steel tumbled into view, continuing its bloodthirsty rampage through the streets. Alixenus and Kaltedes were crouched beneath an archway, ready. "Lord, you do realise that such an amount of Iyo releasing its energy will likely destroy us aswell?" "I do. I'd tell you to live but I have a feeling you won't" Kaltedes nodded as the abominations began to traverse the bridge. Alixenus rose to his feet, uttered a prayer to his Gods, a curse at Fate, then hurled the torch.
Elsewhere, Nexhawk and Thanatos were making their back into Karthage when they saw and heard a thunderous explosion that shook the City and made the Earth tremble. It could only be likened to the wrath of a God. |
