I guess the first thing is do you guys understand why so many folksy felt they were dumped on they way all this came about? There are some legitimately great things in the information CCP was putting out but how it was done was a horrendous way to deal with loyal paying customers (some of which flew to ICELAND to celebrate your product). As for a technical question... what drove the choice of PC vs PS4 for the chosen next gen version of Dust / Legion? We understand, and we always expected many players to be upset and even angry with what we said, primarily dedicated console players. I will admit that there have been issues in messaging, and we're going to be clearing up as many facts and answering as many questions as we can over the next few days. As far as PS4 vs PC, we went with PC because that's what we've worked more with in the past. There are also fewer hoops to jump through when developing for PC compared to a console. I'll be honest, Sony has done amazing stuff and removed a lot of red tape for us with DUST, but it's still not a simple process. Just remember, the door isn't closed for PS4 (or beyond as may be the case). It's just a door we're not looking for right now.
So, basically, you said **** it for the console, ramped up AUR sales without telling us you're canceling the game and you also don't even know if Legion will be green-lit (which it probably will so you can shut up the EVE players constantly bitching about wanting a PC shooter) and, on top of all of that, you don't even know that you'll be able to convert our characters over to legion, instead, you'll try to give us some (probably) crappy incentive to come over.
Well, I for one, will not be rushing out to buy a 1000 dollar PC that will be able to play Legion. I'll continue to play Dust until it dies in a few weeks, then I will go get a PC when Star Citizen comes out and a PS4 for Destiny. I won't get an EVE account or a Valkyrie account or a Legion account. You have screwed us console players over and I won't offer any more support to your company. |

And that question is DID CCP USED COMMUNITY MONEY and OUR IDEAS ON DUST2.0 aka LEGION?! Of course they did, because Legion is going to be everything DUST is not and never can be due to hardware obsolescence, architecture limitations, and early bad decisions in game design.
That's bullshit. Look at FFXIV:ARR. That game, on PS3, only had to limit character models to 150 or so. yet, when it went to the PS4, they pretty much removed the character model limitation and now PS4 players are pretty much on par with the PC players. CCP used a ****** excuse to screw over the console players and go to PC so that all the EVE players will shut up about wanting Dust 514 on the PC. ALL of their facebook posts were inundated with 'BRING DUST TO PC' and what not. |

We'll just know our toons are in cold storage until you guys get around to looking at the PS4 (or in my case OSX could work as well). Maybe one day we'll get to use them and that could be enough. even though you are effectively shutting out a chunk of your player base.
I know and understand your frustration here...and I honestly do sympathize. I was always aware that this was going to be difficult for my dedicated console playing friends, and all that I can say is that I hope we get the chance to play against eachother in the near future.
I highly doubt that. If you cared about the console players that much, you'd have announced Legion waaaaaaaaay before fanfest. 'Hey guys, we're going to stop developing for Dust soon and reallocate devs to this new game called Project Legion that is nothing like Dust 514'. Instead you were like 'BUY AUR GUYS! Also, we're stopping development of dust because of some bullshit lazy reason and going to PC for out PC fanboys'. |

I understand where you're coming from on those quotes, and it absolutely wasn't my intention to lie to people. We are still fully committed to developing those games (as mentioned several times), and furthermore DUST and Project Legion are both very much part of the EVE Universe. Again, I understand where you're coming from and it wasn't my intention to come across as "lying" to people - prior to the reveal it was difficult for me to explicitly state the distinction between the work on DUST 514 and Project Legion. At this point, all I ask is that when you have any info / pictures of Legion Dropships, SHARE THEM PLEAAAAAAAAAAAASSSSSSSSSSSSSEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
Why are you still here? You've made it apparent that you want Dust to die. CCP is working on it. Why are you still commenting on these threads?
Also, Saberwing, by not saying anything, you are pretty much lying to us still. Good job, man. Good job. |

DUST Fiend wrote:Leanna Boghin wrote:CCP Saberwing wrote:Garrett Blacknova wrote:First off: How did the plan to ramp up AUR sales while NOT telling the playerbase about this get by without SOMEONE breaking the news to us?
I've tried to make this super clear - we will do whatever we can to transfer over your investment in DUST. That means names, skills, items, etc - where possible. The only reason I say where possible is because progression, skills and items are being looked at and there's no guarantee that they will be in Legion. In that case, we would do our best to find some other way of protecting that investment. OUR "Investment" doesnt mean **** if we dont own a PC. You know as well as i do that the majority of players for Dust 514 are CONSOLE ONLY. Do you really expect them to just up and Buy a console for a game that may very well get scrapped like your scrapping dust? I for one have no intention of investing any further in Dust or in your "new toy". You did the community a disservice and you and all of CCP knows it Going to PC first gives you a greater chance of a higher quality PS4 port, faster. #reality

No, the proper progression is PC -> PS4. This allows them to make a piece of **** that demands 64GB RAM and two Titan GPUs with a quad i7 setup and a RAID array of SSDs. Once they got the gameplay nailed down, they can lower the system requirements to sane levels. And once that happens and they try to port to PS4, they will be forced to optimize even more, which not only allows for the PS4 port but also makes the PC version better.
If you go the opposite way, you have a situation where you need to optimize an unfinished game. And Dust has already shown us how competent CCP are at multitasking.[/quote]
How do you know what the game requires? Maybe if CCP actually stuck to their 10 year plan and not let Sony force them to release an unfinished game, they could have released a more finished game that was optimized and they'd just have to add and optimize new things. If they had just stuck to making it a console only game and used the funds from Dust to further improve the game, they wouldn't have had to screw us over like they did. |

CCP Saberwing wrote:Raz Sidona wrote:Saberwing, can you please do something to help console players? We are still being backstabbed and left behind by not getting a PS4 release. Push for PS4 release with PC, stop ignoring us and leaving us behind! This decision is ultimately out of my hands here, but I will pass the overall desires and concerns on. But, as I mentioned several times elsewhere - PC is the first step to next-gen. Basically, while we haven't ruled out a move to a next-gen console, PC is going to be the focus first.
So, you're saying you guys are knowingly screwing us over and not doing anything about it? You guys don't even know if you'll be able to transfer anything over from Dust to Legion (if you're even looking into it at all). You're also not even sure if they game will be an actual thing yet since you started four months ago without knowing if it'll be approved. As I've said before, many of us console players aren't about to rush out to get a gaming PC (in excess of 1000 dollars sometimes) just to play a game that will kill Dust 514; a game many of us have spent 2 years playing. |

Were still missing 3 nova knives, 2 HAV's, 2 LAV's as well as MAV's and motorcycles. Not to mention the other heavy weapons and much needed balancing.
Dust and Legion are not the same game. They've stated it themselves. They are separate games on separate platforms. Dust 514 might not even get any more integration to EVE now. Also, from the sounds of it, Legion won't have EVE integration for at least a year. |

If not: Does CCP feel they have delivered to me what was promised?
Good luck. CCP is avoiding all Dust related questions and only focusing on Legion questions and concerns, further alienating their Dust community from ever wanting to even look at Legion. |

Dj grammer wrote:Copy and pasting this: John Demonsbane wrote:From this thread.John Demonsbane wrote:Finally, to CCP: Eventually such shoddy treatment of your players is going to catch up to you.
Saberwing and Logibro can do all the damage control they want, but the simple fact of the matter is, we were misled for months about progression of this game, being encouraged to buy aurum with the promises of new content and long-term progression in the same format. Now we know better.
Maybe you guys really are competent programmers and the PS3 really was the only issue. I doubt it, but letGÇÖs say thatGÇÖs true. That is completely unrelated and does not excuse how you treated a very loyal group of players.
Moreover, to do this, and then be faced with obvious disapproval by your customers, and say essentially nothing for 48 hours, is pathetic, and reeks of incompetence, contempt, or both.
Even still, days later, the following things that, honestly, almost any well run business would have done by now to demonstrate a commitment to customers, have not happened:
1)An actual apology - Saberwings short and bland one, buried in a thread, is insufficient, and heGÇÖs not even the one who should be doing it. Rouge has said nothing even remotely contrite to date.
2)Concrete explanations of how our concerns will be addressed and why this happened. The responses to our concerns have been nebulous at best, and late GǪ I mean, why not mention right away characters would be transferred over if that was your plan? That would have cooled a lot of the rage. The fact that you didnGÇÖt makes me suspect you are backpedaling on the original plan, which is a bad one anyway, predicating all this on a game thatGÇÖs not even greenlit by the CEO!
3)Some type of good-faith offer to refund, at the very least, the last month or two of aurum sales. Changing plans and using your own intellectual property as best you see fit is one thing. But misleading customers into paying for something they are not actually getting is another. Is it a classic bait and switch? Maybe not, but I can make an argument that hyping boosters and the origin pack just days before FanFest, is very very close. No amount of backpedaling, dubious promises about Legion features and character transfer can erase that one!
You do those three things, CCP, and you will restore most of our faith in you (however misplaced) and may get me back as a customer. Otherwise, IGÇÖm not interested in supporting you as a company any longer.
Good day to you, sirs!
Wow, this hit it right on the motherfucking nail. Bravo. I say John should be CPM. |

Of course almost everyone has left Dust now. Faction Warfare is a joke. There's no one really good anymore aside from the odd queue sync now.
I'm surprised that Sony said they aren't going to be dropping Dust 514 from their service. If they don't now, they will soon with the rate at which people are leaving.
Also, CCP will never give us a straight answer on anything Dust related. They are afraid they may say something wrong and make a bad situation even worse than they are by just ignoring it. Wait... Maybe those worse situations are pretty much the same... Huh. Fancy that. |
